0:47 toxic cerebral palsy mild uh that she
0:48 had a lot of
0:50 intellectual delays as well and that she
0:52 would probably never read or write and
0:54 all that sort of thing
0:56 and he sort of said you know go put her

3:58 usually my friends ask more about d than

4:14 roles at work in the local
4:18 cafe how important is it for dee to work
4:22 very important again she models

4:29 brother's
4:31 interview with deborah jay ceo belonging matters
4:32 matters
4:35 when i first met dee about 10 years ago
4:38 she just left special developmental school
4:38 school
4:41 and she had this passion for her local community
4:42 community
4:44 however most of the services that were
4:46 offered to her
4:48 were going to segregate her from her
4:49 local community
4:52 and basically she'd be in congregate
4:55 care with other people with a disability
4:57 our role really was to help dee and her
4:59 family hold on to a vision
5:02 for a typical life and to create the
5:04 supports that would enable that to happen
5:05 happen
5:07 montage of dee and housemate making the
5:09 bed and doing the
5:11 as you can see do you do that and okay yeah
5:23 interview with joe d's support worker
5:25 dee has
5:28 grown in confidence to the extent where she
5:28 she
5:31 is happy to stay in the flat by herself

6:01 with montage of d out and about in her community
6:02 community
6:04 when you look at dee's life she doesn't
6:06 just access the
6:08 community she actually belongs to the community
6:09 community
6:10 and you can see that through the
6:13 relationships that she has
6:15 i think not only does the community
6:17 bring out the best in d
6:20 but she brings out the best in community
6:22 i guess just to live a happy
6:25 fulfilling life whatever form that might take
6:26 take
