how do I become a content creator where
should I start what are the most
important keys to focus on is there a
secret to going viral on a brand new
channel and how do I monetize so I can
actually make an incredible living doing
this thing that I love these are all
questions you need to ask yourself when
getting started as a content creator in
good news today we're going to go
through all of them and condense
everything that I've learned building a
decent sized audience in a multi-million
dollar Pere content creation business in
this one [Music]
[Music]
video to get started quickly you need to
do one thing extremely fast you need to
get good enough at actually creating
content now this sounds intimidating I
know there are so many cameras lenses
settings lights microphones editing
programs and so much more but here's the
good news you do not need to master
content creation you just need to get
good enough in order to start and I can
teach you that right now in the next 30
seconds you need a phone a tripod a
cheap light and a microphone I have
links to all of these things down below
in the description choose a nice
background not too cluttered avoid
Windows put a chair down set your light
up slightly to the side and in front of
where you're sitting open your camera
app and hit record with the microphone
plugged in play around with this for a
couple days maybe test out some
different locations and Bam you are
going to be good enough to graduate to
the next level of this journey now there
there is a lot more that goes into
creating insanely good content and this
is exactly what we teach at content
creator.com but you'll learn these
things as you go no one in the history
of anything was great when they first
started Mastery only comes through doing
the thing okay now that you know how to
create content let's talk about content
strategy this comes down to three things
what's your Niche what platform should
you focus on and what will your formats
be let's start with defining your Niche
or the main topic that your content will
focus on now I don't mean to scare
anyone here but picking Niche might just
be the single biggest decision that you
make in this journey and this isn't
because some niches are doomed from the
start you can be successful with any
Niche it's an important decision because
your passion and interest in a niche
will determine your motivation and being
able to maintain that motivation over
time is the true key to success pick
something you're just casually
interested in and you'll likely run out
of video ideas or you'll just get tired
of creating content on the topic simply
because you were never that interested
in it to begin with so really think and
ask yourself what's the thing that I
could create content on for the next 5
years it could be cooking content advice
for filing taxes travel content as long
as others share your interest figuring
this out will be your unfair advantage
and it will help you Skyrocket your
growth over time a great way to do Niche
research is to just type in the content
topic on YouTube You'll see both long
and short form examples and if the
thought of creating similar content to
what you see here is exciting then you
know you're on the right track and don't
worry if you don't feel like an expert
in any of these potential niches you
will become an expert over time as as
you dive deeper and deeper into the
field and people actually enjoy
consuming content from others who are
themselves beginners in the field okay
now we've got to choose the platforms
that you're going to create content on
in a perfect world you would create
content on all the major platforms but
for someone getting started you really
only need to focus on one to be
successful now again ask yourself the
question do you want to create short
form content like reals Tik toks and
YouTube shorts or do you want to create
long form content which undoubtedly you
YouTube is the platform for that which
do you enjoy consuming more which do you
already have more ideas for each
approach has its own pros and cons but
again the key to long-term success is
starting by following your pre-existing
desires now if you are completely
undecided in my opinion short form
content is easier to start with each
video is smaller and less work you can
also quickly repost that same video
across all the short form platforms only
increasing the odds of getting
recommended in going viral however I do
think building a business only off of
short form content is much harder than
with long form content attention spans
are just super short on the short form
platforms and building that deeper
connection is harder when you only have
a few seconds with each video whereas
long form content on the other hand it's
a bit harder to get started because each
video is longer and a larger project but
it's better for building deeper
connections with your audience and also
has more business upside on the back end
with AdSense Revenue higher payments on
brand deals and sponsorships and it can
get extremely lucrative when it comes
comes to selling your own physical or
digital products and we'll touch more on
all this monetization stuff later on in
the video like I said earlier as you
progress in this journey you will do
both eventually but again if you're
completely undecided just start with
short form content it's like baking a
whole sheet of muffins versus one really
large cake for a similar amount of
ingredients and effort you just create a
lot more you'll also learn a lot faster
with each quick video you create and
that will eventually translate over to
YouTube when you start doing that as
well then last but not least in this
getting started section we have to talk
about your formats let's say your Niche
is Fitness and you want to start with
short form content popular formats in
this Niche are challenges workout or
dieting tips interesting facts about
Fitness that people don't know
motivational videos funny skits that
other people can relate to these formats
apply to almost all niches and there are
tons more but getting started your goal
is to pick a few different formats that
you feel comfortable recreating you'll
post these videos and see how your
audience however small reacts each and
then you'll use the data to inform the
direction that you take moving forward
for example if one of your videos let's
say it was an educational tip video it
got more views than all the other
formats you tested now moving forward
you want to focus on those educational
Styles way more for every three videos
you post two should be following that
main format that tends to do best with
the third being a new format that you
haven't tested yet I call this informed
experimentation doing something we know
Works while reserving a portion of our
effort for testing new things at the the
same time going through my own YouTube
channel here you'll see that we have a
handful of different formats that we
kind of recycle over and over again we
have the watch before series we do
review videos on New Gear we have pretty
in-depth editing tutorials and then we
have straight up like educational
strategy videos like this every time
that you find a new format that works
just add it as a consistent pillar in
your content cycle okay so now we know
how to create content that is good
enough to get started we have a clear
understanding of our Niche our platforms
and our formats let's talk about two
huge growth Keys focusing on these Keys
is crucial if you want results quickly
you'll accomplish in 10 videos What It
Takes most people who aren't focusing on
these keys to accomplish in 100 videos
key number one is the hardest for most
beginners to truly understand your
videos are not for you they are for your
viewer think about this video you're
watching right now I never even
mentioned my name other than a small
graphic in the bottom corner of the
screen at the beginning of the video the
only details I gave you about myself is
that I have a somewhat large audience
and I've made a decent amount of money
as a content creator these were the only
two crucial pieces of information needed
to establish the fact that I know what
I'm talking about in this field and
therefore it's worth your time and
attention to watch this video every
other second of this video has been
devoted to providing value to you the
viewer in the form of educational tips
and guidance which by the way if you do
appreciate this type of content make
sure to hit that subscribe button
because it does really help out our
Channel I see so many videos from
beginner channels on YouTube where they
spend you know a big chunk of the
beginning of the video talking about
themselves and why they wanted to create
this video and it's just not a quick
path to where most people want to go the
irony is if you want to build an
audience for you the last thing you want
to do is talk about yourself always ask
yourself how the video You're creating
is valuable to the viewer and make that
form of value the main focus educational
content has always been my strength as I
enjoy teaching but making someone laugh
through an entertaining skit or keeping
them glued to the screen to see the
results of a challenge are other forms
of value anything that makes the viewer
feel like it was time well spent
watching the content is value if your
goal is to go full-time you need to be
able to consistently generate views and
build an audience and making your
content about the viewer is the best way
to do this now speaking of getting views
this next key is essential it's the Holy
Trinity of creating content nowadays
never sleep on the importance of the
title the thumbnail and the hook of your
video now if you are only focused on
short form content for now it's really
just the hook that you need to care
about but understanding all these three
things is beyond important look at this
right here this is what you always need
in your brain while planning out your
content everyone is battling for
attention and you need to stand out in
order to capture that attention the
video behind this thumbnail could be so
wildly good but if the title and
thumbnail don't entice people to
actually click it will never get watched
Mr Beast has a great quote where he says
you can never fully understand how
important titles thumbnails and hooks
are because every single day in your
career you realize it more than the
previous previous day the faster you're
able to realize this importance the
faster you'll get views and an audience
which means you'll be able to go
fulltime much faster there is never been
a better time to start a YouTube channel
than right now simply because the
algorithm on YouTube really tries its
best to give new creators a shot every
day when scrolling on YouTube I see
videos from extremely small creators pop
up on my feed and this is YouTube trying
to test their content to see if people
will click and watch and the easiest way
to succeed and put yourself above 99% of
new creators is to focus on making
clickable titles and thumbnails but
anyways let's move on to the hook when
talking about the video itself this is
easily the most important part and if
you're creating short form content for
social media this is like the number one
thing that you need to study a hook in
theory is extremely simple on YouTube in
the first few seconds of the video you
need to deliver on the expectation
people have that was set by the title in
the thumbnail and make them know that
they're going to get what they want but
you also need to introduce something new
that makes them curious ious enough to
stick around going back to our fitness
examples from earlier we could have a
title in a thumbnail outlining a certain
diet the hook could start by saying in
this video we're going to cover exactly
how to lose 10 lbs in the next 60 days
using this diet and you'll learn the
three foods that most Americans eat on a
daily basis that completely destroys
their progress see how we delivered on
the expectation by touching on the diet
that they were expecting to hear about
but then we added another element of
curiosity by touching on the three foods
that they have to avoid now on short
form content since there isn't this wall
of videos that you're choosing between
and instead you're just scrolling the
primary goal you should have is to
introduce some form of curiosity but
before that you need to actually say or
show something that just stops the
scroll it could be a crazy visual a wild
claim something that a person just
wasn't expecting to see you have
fractions of a second to convince
somebody to stop scrolling so really
keep that in your mind when you're
designing your short form content unlike
YouTube where the competition is
battling for attention with the thumb
nail and the title on social media your
competition is the speed at which
everything is passing by and your tool
to succeed is how fast you can catch
their eye and stop that scroll create
valuable content while focusing on these
major keys and you will naturally get
your content recommended you will
quickly build an audience and all of a
sudden you will be thrown into the
exhilarating world of content
monetization now you might be thinking
monetization sounds exciting Anthony but
I'm just getting started it's probably a
long way off I'll wait to learn about it
then this is a big mistake my friend
starting a business with without
understanding the fundamental ways to
make money doing it just because it
sounds like it's a far off thing is a
terrible idea and if you focus on
everything we talk about in this video
you can make enough money to quit your
job extremely fast and we'll cover some
real life examples throughout this video
before we get to that though let's cover
the four primary ways to generate income
as a Creator first we have platform
Revenue sharing on YouTube This is
called AdSense Tik Tok has their creator
fund they all have their own names
unless you're Instagram and you don't
Reven Vue share with creators either way
these platforms Place ads on your
content or around your content which
advertisers have to pay money to do that
and then as a thank you for providing
your video as the place where the ads
are going to be shown the platform will
pay you a small portion of the
advertising Revenue in our experience
the main platform that this really
starts to add up on is YouTube so we'll
just kind of generalize this and call it
AdSense moving forward after that we
have affiliate Revenue which is a
commission you get paid anytime someone
buys another company's product using an
affiliate link that you created for
example if you buy any of the camera
gear that we have linked Below in the
description we get like a 3 to 8%
Commission on it at no extra cost to you
AdSense and Affiliates are your level
one income you could set up an Amazon
affiliate account today start
recommending some gear in your content
and start making money and for AdSense
you just need to consistently create
content that gets views and eventually
that money will start coming in for our
Channel we make about $10 to $12,000 per
month between the two of these income
streams which is great but for most
beginners I would tell you that you're
not going to quit your job based on
these two income streams anytime soon
keep watching though and I'll tell you
exactly what I would do if I was
starting over today from scratch and
wanted to make a full-time income as
soon as possible but anyways after that
level one income we have brand deals and
sponsorships this is when a brand pays
you directly to integrate their product
or service somehow in your video you
could just recommend it outright or you
could just be using it throughout your
video which of course will draw interest
to it as you start to gain traction with
your content take notice of the other
creators in your Niche and see what
brands that they're working with these
are the companies that you'll want to
start reaching out to simply because you
know they already have marketing budgets
and systems in place for working with
creators at the very beginning your
deals will be trade for service so
they'll just give you your product in
exchange for you making a video on the
topic and you really want to blow this
out of the water for them because the
views and results that you generate for
these early sponsors will be what
convinces future sponsors to pay you the
big bucks and sometimes you don't even
need to wait and ask for these Brands
permission for example on our Channel
last year we have a lighting brand
called newer that we really like and I
made a video recommending their products
it wasn't sponsored or anything like
that I just genuinely appreciate their
products we put an affiliate link for
some of their lights in the description
and it's gone on to generate like over
$100,000 in sales for them in less than
a year you can imagine after seeing the
results like that newer is now a big fan
of our Channel and they regularly
sponsor our content and they're willing
to pay a lot more because they know the
potential of what our content can do for
them anyways naturally this side of your
business will grow over time but I still
have one major issue with every
monetization strategy that we've covered
so far they all take a relatively long
time to build up into serious income
streams brand deals by themselves can
pay a lot but you need to have a
substantial following and a proven track
record of views and engagement to
justify those larger paychecks and when
the goal is to go full-time as quickly
as possible this all doesn't really add
up so far which brings us to the final
strategy selling your own products
through your content now most people
probably think of the biggest creators
making hundreds of millions of dollars
selling physical products like Mr Beast
in febles Logan Paul in Prime Mark Rober
and his crunch Labs product but for
beginners looking to go full-time as
fast as possible I'd highly suggest
taking the opposite route and focusing
on digital products like courses PDF
guides preset packs software Solutions
online marketplaces and more the
beautiful aspect of this is you have
pure ownership over everything and there
are no physical costs of goods sold
because it's all a digital product
you're also not forced to say anything
to make another company happy you don't
need to constantly rush to hit other
companies deadlines and you're able to
come up with content ideas that you just
want to create not content ideas that
have to again integrate with another
brand and best of all you can start
making money now no matter how big your
audience is even if you only get views
all it takes is one person to really
like what you said click on a link and
purchase your product now I know it
might sound intimidating creating your
own product but guess what you can start
extremely small with your products and
grow over time take this couple here as
an example two Americans who followed
their dream and moved to Switzerland
with nothing but a phone they started
creating content documenting their
travels making travel recommendations
and more they didn't really get that
many views at the start but over time it
grew now they're still not a huge
Channel by any means but during their
Journey they decided to create a small
PDF guide outlining a 7-Day travel
itinerary for people interested in
vacationing in Switzerland by making
very subtle call to actions in just a
few of their YouTube videos they've gone
on to sell over 2,500 copies of this PDF
guide which at $49 it's over
$122,000 in sales and like any smart
business person they went on to create
some more guides 500 copies sold 1,000
copies sold another 500 copies sold this
is hundreds of thousands of dollars
generated by simply creating content
about their passion and then creating a
small digital product business to tag
along for the journey now I discovered
this couple by accident I was literally
going crazy trying to plan out my own
honeymoon with Courtney these past few
weeks I came across their Channel I
ended up buying their guide which is
incredible by the way I highly recommend
it for anyone planning a vacation and
then I did some simple math to realize
just how well they've done with their
relatively small YouTube channel I mean
we have students in our programs at
content creator.com who've hit over
10,000 subscribers in their first month
on YouTube and that right there is way
more than you need to get started
selling digital products we even have
students like Ashley here who took her
passion for music created a small
digital product and within months was
able to quit her full-time job as an
engineer which you can actually see on
this graph represented by the spike in
total revenue and she actually just
cracked $1 million in sales from a small
digital product business which is just
so freaking awesome I've still got some
more tips that we need to cover in this
video but for those who want a 30 day
road map to growing a digital product
business in the description below there
is a link where you can watch a full
40-minute training that covers the 30
step process for creating and launching
digital products we've had a ton of
people go through that process and
Achieve way more than they ever thought
possible simply by selling digital
products but anyways let's cover some
steps that you should take now that will
make your monetization journey that much
easier number one start collecting
emails today as soon as possible make
something small but valuable and give it
away for free in your content check out
this post right here on my Instagram
when you comment Apple log you're
automatically sent a DM with a link that
brings you to a page where you can put
your email address in in exchange for
getting that free color grading preset
that one really small post that took me
like an hour to put together went on to
generate over a thousand email leads one
of our students Tim Packer who is a
painter made an ebook for other painters
and he used this same strategy we teach
it's called social comment Automation
and he got thousands of leads from one
post even though his normal videos don't
get many use it all and by the way the
software we use to do social comment
automation is called content creator
machine and all of our students get a
discount on this software otherwise you
can use many chat it just gets a little
bit more expensive over time as your
contact list grows compared to content
creator machine which is one fixed price
all the time social comment automation
is a super easy way to generate leads
while also helping boost the reach of
your content since you're basically
incentivizing people to leave comments
you end up getting a lot more comments
which then only tells the algorithm to
boost your content out to more people
who will then leave more comments which
then only kind of goes on this cycle
again and again now on the YouTube side
same exact concept create something
small for free and mention it in every
single one of your videos even if only a
small percentage of viewers click give
their email and download the free thing
you are building that email list which
is so valuable in the future when you
decide to launch a paid digital product
having that list will make the launch go
so much better you'll get an immediate
wave of profit which then you can use to
pay yourself or you can reinvest it into
more strategies that will grow your
business even faster like team members
PID ad campaigns and so on also on the
brand deal and sponsorship side one way
that we've been able to drastically
increase the rates Brands pay us is by
including our email list as a source of
value so when we do a brand deal rather
than just integrate their product into a
YouTube video we usually also do one to
two social media posts and will include
a mention of their product in a
newsletter that gets sent out to our
email list of hundreds of thousands of
people by packaging all of these things
together we can justify charging a lot
more for our brand deals we also almost
always get a custom discount link for
the product or whatever we're
recommending that way our newsletter
audience gets an exclusive deal making
it an even bigger win-win for everyone
and finally if I to leave you with one
thing about this world of content
creation and trying to go fulltime as
fast as possible it's this yes you need
a strategy and a foundation in place to
get incredible results and this video
was all about that strategy side of
things but at the end of the day you
truly need to fall in love with the
process and do it primarily because you
just want to there's a part of you that
just wouldn't feel complete if you
weren't able to talk about your passion
create content all of those things it's
only the people who truly love it have
that passion and do it consistently that
get the incredible results I like saying
to obsess over the process not the
outcome doing that protects you from
burnout because you won't constantly be
let down if something doesn't get the
outcome you wanted and as a byproduct of
focusing on the process over everything
else you'll get really good and the
outcome will naturally happen now I'm
going to practice what I preached in
this video and let those of you know who
really value streamlined learning
experiences you should check out our
fortun day filmmaker online course
bundle it costs less than a dinner date
with your grandma but includes three
programs that will help you master the
technical side of shooting and editing
on both your smartphone and professional
camera all the info you need on the gear
the settings the composition how to
light beautiful scenes capture cinematic
movements record and edit audio and tons
of training on editing YouTube content
social media content and commercials is
included in an easyto digest
step-by-step format by itself it will
literally save you months of trying to
learn everything on YouTube the deal is
going to expire soon so hit that link in
the description other than that thank
you so much for watching best of luck to
you in your journey and I'll see you in
the next one [Music]
