collectible figures quickly became the

celebrities jumping on the craze.
But just as their popularity peaked, a
strange controversy changed everything,
sparking fear instead of excitement.
Some owners have even resorted to
burning their dolls amid growing panic.
Laboo dolls sold exclusively by China
based retailer PopMart and designed by
Cassing Lang found themselves at the
center of an unusual backlash.
A conspiracy theory rapidly gained
traction on Tik Tok and other social
media platforms claiming the dolls are
connected to Pizuzu, a demonic figure
from ancient Mesopotamian mythology.
According to these claims, the dolls
might be possessed or spiritually linked
to this dark entity.
Adding fuel to the fire was a resurfaced
clip from the Simpsons where Homer
Simpson brings home a Pizuzu doll that
later possesses his baby daughter Maggie.

Online users drew eerie parallels
between Labubu's signature grin and
historical depictions of Pazulu.
The resemblance combined with the viral
conspiracy triggered widespread unease.
Some collectors spooked by the rumors
began destroying their priced labu dolls
in a dramatic display of fear.

truth behind these swirling claims?
While Cassing Lang has himself stated
that Labubu dolls were inspired by
nigels, there is absolutely no evidence
to suggest they're evil or in any way
connected to demonic forces.

factual evidence to support the
possession theory, but the emotional
reaction has nonetheless stirred
