I've specialized in this population
since 1984 so I have been doing this for
a while and I uh do I practice and
treating this population and then I do
trainings in the US and in Canada so
once we've talked about how they're
unique then we'll talk about what they
are when we say someone has disordered
personality functioning what are we
implying is dysfunctional in them what
do we saying's wrong how do they differ
from other conditions that have names
like mood disorders and anxiety
disorders and how do they differ from
the condition we take for granted called
normal a disorder is the system itself
gone Haywire it's not foreign or alien
it isn't imposed or acquired notice we
don't say you get a disorder we say you
develop a disorder and he is cute oh my
God this kid looks like the human
version of a Cabbage Patch doll no he's
got these little cheeks you want to
pinch you go oh my God you're so cute I

Bug why what does this to somebody why
does somebody end up an incomplete human
being what happens to someone to prevent
them from developing resources that
allow them to live life within normal
limits and I looked at her and I
said the problems in your marriage are
going to get worse if you don't do
something this is the kind of thing that
escalates and here's my
prediction your husband will be dead in five
five
years so my advice to you is to work on
your life now CU you're going to need it
by the time he
dies she blew me off I got a call from
her 3 years later he was dead in 3 years
and she came back and said how did you
know he said because I know how these
things look and what happens said I'm
