0:29 exercise is called beads on a string
0:31 since I didn't have any beads but I did
0:33 have some string well actually it's just
0:35 a black rope but it's about the same
0:37 thing here's what you do you put a bead
0:40 or a knot on the string about 8 in about
0:45 4T and about 8 ft out from you and you
0:49 tie the string to a door knob or I tied
0:50 it to the camera cuz I'm real fancy here
0:52 and you hold it up to your nose looking
0:54 like a total morat and then you focus
0:57 your vision on the bead closest to you
0:59 then the bead past it and then the bead
1:01 past it so what you're doing is you're
1:04 learning how do I make my eyes work
1:06 together to focus here Focus there Focus
1:09 there and what you want to see is two
1:13 strings Crossing at the point but what I
1:16 used to see was only one string because
1:18 without my knowledge or permission my
1:20 brain was turning off one of my eyes
1:22 because my eyes didn't work together
1:23 well so basically it just said left eye
1:26 who cares well you can do this exercise
1:29 to teach to yourself to have your eyes
1:31 work together and if you already have
1:33 those two strings where you see one on
1:36 each side like that instead of one going
1:37 away and becoming invisible well then
1:39 you have eyes that work pretty well and
1:42 if you decide to use glasses and I did
1:44 wear glasses when I was a teenager what
1:47 happens is they make your eyes weaker
1:49 and weaker and I don't wear glasses
1:52 anymore unless I'm indoors and these
1:54 aren't corrective lenses these are
1:56 lenses that do something else here are
1:59 five things you can do to help your eyes
2:00 work better without glasses the first
2:03 exercise is called Focus shifting this
2:06 is when you shift your focus from closer
2:08 in to further and then you shift your
2:10 focus from left to right you're just
2:12 training your eyes like you train your
2:14 muscles because your eyes do have
2:15 muscles in them so the first exercise
2:18 for Focus shifting is you hold your
2:19 finger in front of you and you shift
2:21 your focus from your finger to something
2:23 further behind it and then back in then
2:26 back out it's like a camera lens zoom in
2:28 zoom out the further out out you can
2:30 zoom the better if you have a great
2:32 Vista in front of you try doing that do
2:34 it at a stoplight you can do this
2:36 exercise two you find two objects at the
2:39 edge of your vision one to the left one
2:42 to the right and you shift your focus
2:44 from one to the other without moving
2:45 your head so you don't do this you sit
2:48 here and you look over there look over
2:51 there and as you shift your focus you
2:53 really want to make it as in Focus as
2:55 you can you're teaching your brain and
2:57 your eyes to work better together and
2:59 you're teaching your eyes to be more
3:00 flexible and for the muscles to be
3:02 stronger and what I do to make this work
3:05 really well for me is I have two
3:07 monitors one monitor is right here in
3:09 front of me on my main computer and the
3:11 other monitor is a big screen TV that's
3:13 about 6 to 8 ft behind it so now
3:16 sometimes I look here sometimes I look
3:18 there I force my eyes to go in out in
3:20 out habit number two that is so
3:23 incredibly important is to block toxic
3:25 blue light
3:30 now we've all heard of blue light
3:31 blockers they're dumb what I'm wearing
3:34 only blocks the bad blue which is under
3:37 490 NM that's what causes the eye strain
3:40 and the eye stress so I'm allowing the
3:43 good blue that lets you wake up all day
3:45 but I'm stopping the stuff that causes
3:47 problems these are called true dark
3:49 glasses you can get them at true
3:51 dark.com and just doing this where you
3:53 stare at a bright screen where you have
3:55 these horrible office lighting things
3:57 pointing at you this will make your eye
4:00 less stressed therefore they'll work
4:02 better the third habit is you can use
4:05 red light to regenerate your eyes red
4:08 light therapy has Direct effects on your
4:11 mitochondria and on your inflammation
4:12 you don't want to shine super bright red
4:14 lights into your eyes but you can use
4:15 LED lights over your eyes when they're
4:18 closed it energizes mitochondria and
4:21 your eyes are one of the very dense
4:23 areas in the body with lots of
4:24 mitochondria and there are studies
4:27 showing that just reading under red
4:29 light at night night for 10 minutes can
4:30 improve your vision habit number four
4:33 eat the foods that improve your eyesight
4:35 or just take supplements like I do ltin
4:38 is an antioxidant that you store in your
4:40 retina and it's kind of like natural
4:42 sunglasses it helps your body handle
4:44 blue light but you can make it on your
4:46 own so you eat it in your Foods usually
4:50 yellow foods and they're related
4:53 antioxidants like xanthin if your body
4:56 doesn't have nutrients like lutein or
4:58 xanthin which is related ated to it you
5:00 can get age related conditions like
5:02 macular degeneration which is really bad
5:05 for vision because it's a way of going
5:08 blind there's an epidemic of macular
5:10 degeneration today caused by bad blue
5:12 lights so more nutrients and glasses
5:17 like the true dark glasses are ways to
5:20 protect your eyes from Blue Light which
5:22 is just not good for you here's some
5:24 foods that can help improve and restore
5:26 Vision egg yolks yellow squash salmon in
5:30 particular the Omega-3s and the aanem
5:33 that's present tenet zucchini and
5:36 arugula or you could just take Vision
5:38 101 which is the supplement that I made
5:41 for my own eyes habit number five is
5:44 based on something called the baits
5:45 method and for this it's going to take a
5:48 lot of Technology you need a sheet of
5:50 paper and a black dot it's not that hard
5:53 to do to improve your vision Bates more
5:56 than a 100 years ago figured out that
5:59 you could improve by sight by training
6:00 the eyes and ever since that time well
6:04 say ever since about 1950 eye doctors
6:06 selling glasses have been saying you
6:08 can't do that but having done it myself
6:10 and improve my vision the bass method
6:13 does work what you do with this is you
6:15 put a tiny dot on a piece of paper you
6:18 set the paper up a few feet in front of
6:19 you and first you stare at the black dot
6:22 with Focus that's called Central
6:24 fixation which is the idea that
6:26 improving your eyesight is about
6:27 focusing on a tiny part of your VIs ual
6:29 field at a time but then you relax your
6:32 vision and you look around in a relaxed
6:36 State all around the paper that's not
6:38 the dot not focus just relax and then
6:40 you focus then you relax and look around
6:43 and this is training subtle parts of
6:45 your brain and eyes to work together so
6:47 that you can focus effortlessly and as
6:49 you do this you may notice like I did
6:52 when I started doing Vision training
6:54 that I was hunching over I was holding
6:56 my breath I was tensing my stomach I had
6:58 no conscious awareness of doing that and
7:01 as I did these exercises I learned how
7:03 to relax my body as I was focusing my
7:06 eyes and it made it a lot easier and
7:08 that's part of what Vision training is
7:10 it's so that you can be relaxed and
7:11 focused and now here's a bonus habit for
7:14 improving your vision it's called
7:17 cupping and this comes from Myer
7:19 Schneider's work in a book called yoga
7:21 for your eyes what you do as you rub
7:24 your hands together if you do chiong or
7:27 yoga this is a way of generating Che and
7:30 maybe you believe it and maybe you don't
7:32 but get your hands a little bit
7:35 warm
7:37 then you put your palms over your eyes
7:39 with your fingers Crossing each other on
7:41 your forehead like this you want to
7:43 completely block out all light so if you
7:46 open your eyes and you should be able to
7:48 open your eyes you're not touching your
7:49 eyelids you're cupping them and when you
7:52 do that you just relax and breathe deep
7:55 for about 30
7:57 seconds and when you're done with that
7:59 you may be amazed at how much better
8:02 your energy feels how much better your
8:04 eyes feel and you can do this two or
8:06 three times in a row or just do it five
8:08 times a day for one minute or for five
8:11 minutes a day and you may find that your
8:13 eyes relax a lot I like to do this if
8:16 I've sat in a conference room with the
8:17 worst bright intense lighting and my
8:19 eyes feel like they're Crossing each
8:21 other because well I'm in an unnatural
8:23 lightting environment this is a way to
8:25 restore your eyes back to commonness do
8:27 whatever feels good for you but
8:29 understand
8:30 you don't always have to get glasses in
8:32 fact that 20 minutes a day that I've
8:35 been recommending you spend outside
8:36 without glasses or contacts that
8:39 probably also helps your vision because
8:41 studies show that small amounts of
8:43 ultraviolet light improve your vision
8:46 you get to be less nearsighted just from
8:48 having some natural sunlight you don't
8:50 have to overdo it but some sunlight is
8:52 really good for you these are the habits
8:55 that allowed me to improve my vision
8:56 naturally from 2080 back to 20 5 I have
9:00 never needed reading glasses and my eyes
9:02 feel really good every day these habits
9:04 can help you feel even better every day
9:07 and maybe even get rid of your glasses
