0:00 in today's video we're going to break
0:01 down exactly how to create a profitable
0:03 shop advice store from beginning to end
0:07 this video is going to be for beginners
0:08 we're going to cover everything from how
0:10 to design your store how to set up the
0:13 settings how to launch Facebook ads and
0:15 do organic traffic a lot of the other
0:17 videos out there at the moment are so
0:19 old a lot of the courses out there that
0:21 you can buy are just repackaged
0:23 information that we are going to cover
0:25 today you're probably wondering is it
0:27 worth me launching a Shopify store a
0:29 Shopify store can create passive income
0:31 for you it can create your multi-million
0:33 dollar business just like it did for me
0:35 I'm the founder of Udi and over the past
0:37 4 years I've done $450 million in
0:40 Revenue just on Shopify alone it's
0:42 created an amazing life for me and it
0:44 can for you as well you don't need to be
0:46 smart you don't need to know how to do
0:48 code all you need is a willingness to
0:50 learn and just follow the step-by-step
0:52 process that I outlined today one of the
0:54 best things about what we're going to
0:55 learn today is you don't need a family
0:57 inheritance to get started you just need
0:59 a couple coup of hundred bucks and the
1:01 risks are very very low we're going to
1:03 cover how to create a branded Shopify
1:05 Drop Shipping Store and also how to just
1:07 create a beautiful brand that you can be
1:09 proud of so a lot of the old videos out
1:11 there are talking about just using
1:12 AliExpress to do Drop Shipping today
1:14 we're going to cover how to create a
1:15 branded Drop Shipping Store or just a
1:18 brand in general using what we call a
1:19 3pl which is a thirdparty logistics
1:22 provider in today's video we're going to
1:24 cover each of these sections first we're
1:26 going to cover common questions around
1:28 Shopify next we're going to show exact
1:29 exactly how to find the ideal product
1:32 that's sure to work then we're going to
1:33 show you exactly how to create and
1:35 design your Shopify stores so customers
1:37 trust it and use it to purchase we're
1:39 also going to cover the best apps to use
1:41 which can be super overwhelming for
1:42 beginners we're going to cover things
1:44 like fulfillment which is how your
1:45 customers are going to get the product
1:47 and their tracking number we're also
1:48 going to cover shipping zones and
1:50 payment methods we're going to cover
1:51 both forms of marketing both free
1:53 organic marketing for those that don't
1:54 have a budget and then also paid
1:56 marketing on the most powerful two
1:58 platforms that exist right now Facebook
2:00 and Tik Tok we're also going to cover
2:01 the setup of Google ads which is another
2:03 main traffic Source then we're going to
2:05 cover some technical things like what is
2:07 a pixel and how do you install it on
2:09 your store we're going to do a
2:10 beginner's guide to email marketing and
2:12 SMS marketing which lots of people
2:14 Overlook and is crucial to success
2:16 unlike all the other videos out there
2:18 I'm also going to cover hiring and
2:19 customer service and finally we're also
2:21 going to touch on wholesale and Retail
2:23 because how good would it be to get the
2:24 product that you create today on a shelf
2:27 of something like Target while this
2:28 might seem like a long video it's going
2:30 to teach you absolutely everything you
2:31 need you can skip to each section if
2:33 you're already familiar with the section
2:35 that I'm talking about but by the end of
2:36 it I guarantee you'll have a great
2:38 understanding of how to build your first
2:40 profitable Shopify store so the first
2:41 common question I get around Drop
2:43 Shipping and building a Shopify store is
2:45 how much time is it going to take me
2:46 this is one of the main beauties of Drop
2:48 Shipping it takes you about a day to set
2:50 up your store about 7 days to coordinate
2:52 with a supplier and you can be making
2:53 money within about 8 Days the second
2:55 question I get is do I need any prior
2:58 knowledge I know lots of people that
2:59 have created successful Shopify stores
3:01 with very little knowledge prior it does
3:03 definitely help if you understand how to
3:05 log on to Facebook and how to create an
3:07 email which most people now do asides
3:09 from that everything is made very very
3:10 simple and we're going to cover all the
3:12 nuances that you need to know this makes
3:13 this business model really appealing to
3:15 anyone that wants to get started whether
3:17 you just want to side hustle or you want
3:18 to create a full-time job the third
3:20 question I get asked is how much do I
3:22 need to get started the only main cost
3:24 that you're going to have to pay
3:25 especially if you're doing free organic
3:27 marketing that we're going to cover
3:28 today is you need to shop store which is
3:30 around $29 a month I'll put a link for a
3:33 free trial in the description and also
3:34 just a domain which is about $9 to $20
3:37 per month hopefully you'll be able to
3:38 get some initial sales in the very early
3:40 week so that you can offset these costs
3:42 and be profitable from the outset that
3:44 being said if you do want to do some
3:46 forms of paid marketing like on Facebook
3:48 or Tik Tok it's great to have about $500
3:51 to $1,000 another common question I get
3:53 is should I be selling on Amazon versus
3:55 Shopify these can be very very different
3:57 things well it's great that you've got
3:59 your own product that you could list on
4:01 a Marketplace Amazon relies on search
4:03 engine optimization this is where you
4:05 need to rank really highly when you
4:07 search the product on Amazon while this
4:09 is possible it definitely is a different
4:11 skill set to what we're going to cover
4:12 today Amazon has a load of problems such
4:14 as you never own your customers data so
4:16 you can never remarket to them and
4:18 expand your brand it's also really hard
4:20 to figure out the logistics of it it can
4:22 also be super competitive and Amazon can
4:24 shut you down anytime that's why I much
4:26 prefer teaching beginners how to do
4:27 Shopify Drop Shipping as a first step so
4:30 now you have that brief overview let's
4:31 get into the most important part which
4:33 is picking your
4:35 [Music]
4:42 product this is where a lot of people
4:44 get stuck they're like I don't have any
4:46 ideas I'm not Steve Jobs the good news
4:48 is you don't need to be a genius and
4:49 have lots of ideas you just need to
4:51 follow this step-by-step process there
4:53 are a lot of tools out there both free
4:55 and paid that can find you the perfect
4:57 product at the perfect time so let's
4:59 jump onto the computer and walk you
5:00 through them so first up I'm going to
5:02 show you a free method on how to find
5:03 winning products this is for those
5:05 people that have a bit more time on
5:07 their hands and don't want to invest too
5:09 much money in the research process there
5:11 are lots of benefits of using a paid
5:13 tool which I'm going to get into in a
5:14 second all you need to do is go to your
5:16 Facebook feed and scroll down and you'll
5:18 see that there's a lot of ads that are
5:20 popping up from Brands if you want to
5:21 just see ads you can go to the free tool
5:23 turbo Ad Finder and download the Chrome
5:26 extension click add to Chrome ADD
5:28 extension then all you need to do is
5:30 come up here you can pin it to the your
5:34 extensions and click ads only now this
5:37 will then filter your Facebook feed just
5:39 to show ads and it will just speed up
5:41 your research process now some
5:43 fundamentals when we're looking for a
5:45 winning product you need to be able to
5:47 determine whether the trend is saturated
5:49 as in it's been around forever customers
5:52 have lots of options to buy the product
5:55 such as they could just go down the
5:56 street to a department store and
5:57 purchase it themselves for much much
5:59 cheaper or if it's a brand new trend
6:02 this requires a little bit of time and
6:04 thinking you also need to understand
6:06 what an evergreen product is versus a
6:08 new hot Trend an evergreen product is
6:11 something that never really goes away
6:12 for example these bed sheets here bed
6:14 sheets are always going to be around
6:16 versus maybe a hot Trend that you could
6:18 do which is maybe this period pain belt
6:20 which is has been trending for a while
6:22 now this was probably going to get
6:24 saturated and go away we're looking for
6:26 a hot Trend that isn't saturated so
6:29 let's say we wanted to research a little
6:30 bit more about this period pain belt
6:33 what we could do is we could just write
6:34 it into Google and we can see how many
6:37 results actually pop up for it you can
6:38 see that so many people are selling the
6:41 exact same product this is what I call
6:43 saturated it's not the best product to
6:45 go into especially if you don't have
6:47 lots and lots of marketing experience
6:49 because you are competing with them you
6:50 need to outm Market them which if you're
6:53 a beginner you really want to make it
6:54 simple for yourself and verse very very
6:56 few competitors typically with these
6:58 Trends there's sometimes Market such as
7:00 in Germany or Australia where that the
7:02 trend isn't actually saturated whereas
7:04 it may be in the United States where
7:06 Drop Shipping is rampant this is when
7:08 you can use a tool like Trend rocket all
7:09 you need to do is go to Trend rocket.
7:12 now this is a paid tool but it does
7:14 compile a lot of Trends and a lot of
7:16 marketing in one place you can click to
7:18 start the free trial on the lowest plan
7:20 you'll be directed to a page with some
7:22 amazing brands that you can look at now
7:24 asides from being saturated there are a
7:25 few other things to consider when
7:27 launching your product and this is why
7:29 design Trend rocket so you'll be
7:31 directed to a trending brand section
7:33 where there's some great brands that you
7:34 can look at you can click this search
7:36 button down here to see thousands of
7:37 Brands you can use the filters here to
7:40 look at things like likes reviews and
7:42 the amount of Facebook ads a brand has
7:45 one of the most useful thing for
7:46 beginners though is this trending ad
7:49 section so when you land on the trending
7:50 ad section you're going to see a wide
7:51 range of ads at the top Shopify Brands
7:53 you're going to see things like smart
7:55 bird devices here you've got heart rate
7:57 monitors and diabetes these socks this
8:00 will really get your brain ticking
8:02 around some trends that you could go
8:03 after it does a good job at filtering
8:05 out really poor Drop Shipping things
8:07 where people are just grabbing
8:09 AliExpress products doing no branding
8:11 and selling them as you can probably
8:13 tell that's not the best way to go about
8:14 it because customers lose faith in the
8:16 product and it is very very competitive
8:18 alternatively there is another section
8:20 called featured products now this is
8:22 actually why I created Trend rocket
8:24 remember how I just said that you needed
8:25 to go to Google in each of these regions
8:27 and really try to figure out is that
8:29 Trend existing somewhere this is what
8:31 trend rocket was designed for you can
8:33 click this view product details here to
8:35 get an extensive overview of where the
8:37 product is getting sold and what
8:39 suppliers are actually selling the
8:40 product it also has something that's
8:42 really important to consider which we
8:43 haven't talked about yet which is gross
8:45 margin gross margin is the amount that
8:47 the product costs you to ship to the
8:50 customer and buy from the supplier
8:52 subtracted from the total revenue so if
8:54 you're selling something for $100 and it
8:55 costs $25 to buy the product and get it
8:58 to the customer you've got $75 remaining
9:01 which is your gross margin why is this
9:03 important because the more gross margin
9:05 you have the more you can spend on these
9:07 advertising platforms to acquire the
9:09 customer hopefully leaving more profit
9:11 for you left over to take home you can
9:13 scroll down to the supply information
9:15 you can see the factory names and click
9:17 up here to go to the supplier and go to
9:19 the link to the product there should be
9:21 a very similar product in Alibaba that
9:23 you can then contact the supplier so
9:25 while Trend Rocket's saying that this
9:27 has a gross margin of $45 I think we
9:29 want a little bit more than that the $59
9:32 price range probably isn't enough so
9:33 we're going to come back to featured
9:35 products and we're going to look at
9:36 something that has a great gross margin
9:38 so we can click through to this product
9:40 here the O2 ring by wellu and you can
9:42 see here that this has got a much nicer
9:44 gross margin at $9 so now we know it's
9:46 got a gross margin is it going to be a
9:48 good product we really want to think
9:50 critically about this one of the best
9:52 things that I do to ask myself is does
9:54 this solve a problem and can I make it
9:56 unique in some kind of way the next step
9:58 is to a bit more research into the
10:00 product you can click here learn more
10:03 brand details and you can see how that
10:05 brand is tracking over time you've got
10:07 these tabs here to really dive deeper
10:09 into the brand the trend viability
10:11 report will help you understand where
10:12 they're running ads such as Australia us
10:15 and Great Britain which is shown here
10:17 it'll also show you the trust pilot
10:19 reviews this indicates how satisfied
10:21 customers are with the product is it
10:23 solving their problem you don't want to
10:24 sell a product that is getting terrible
10:26 reviews because your days will be
10:28 numbered you can scroll down you'll get
10:30 some information about the brand you can
10:32 check out their their traffic and their
10:34 estimated Revenue as well which is a
10:36 great indication and also see their
10:38 entire text stack if you really want
10:40 more inspiration you can click the
10:41 Facebook ad section and really check out
10:44 some of these ads to learn more about
10:46 them this brand has multiple amazing
10:48 products and you really want to make
10:49 sure that they're running ads for that
10:51 specific product because if they're not
10:53 running ads for that specific product
10:54 chances are that it's not profitable for
10:56 them once you found a trend that you
10:58 really like it's really important that
11:00 you create some form of customization
11:02 for the product for example is there a
11:04 unique feature on this ring that you
11:06 could create to make it unique to
11:08 yourself so today's video we're going to
11:10 use this product as an example now this
11:12 product is saturated it's been on the
11:14 market for a while while I haven't drop
11:15 shipped a product we created a really
11:17 high quality product and use a 3pl we
11:19 did sell millions of dollars worth of it
11:21 this is how I know that you can both
11:23 Dropship and brand this product if you
11:25 weren't using Trend rocket all you need
11:26 to do is go into AliExpress and write
11:29 incoming dog bed again I'd like to
11:32 reiterate that if you are a beginner
11:33 this isn't the product for you you want
11:35 to find a brand new trend you can see
11:37 here that there's a wide range of
11:39 suppliers and if I went to Alibaba you
11:41 could also see that there's a wide range
11:42 of suppliers they would generally be a
11:44 cheaper price but a higher order
11:46 quantity if you're starting out with
11:48 very little money you're going to want
11:49 to use something like AliExpress I can
11:51 hear you shouting through the screen
11:52 hang on a second Alibaba and AliExpress
11:55 what's the difference this is one of the
11:57 common mistakes that I see a lot of
11:58 people teach teing AliExpress is the
12:00 main tool of choice for drop shippers
12:02 this is because the suppliers on there
12:04 Will Ship one unit to your customer
12:07 Alibaba sometimes you need to convince
12:09 the supplier to do Drop Shipping for you
12:11 and buy larger quantities so you're
12:13 probably wondering why would I use
12:15 Alibaba if your product is only on
12:17 Alibaba and not on AliExpress that is
12:20 one of the most positive signals that
12:22 the trend hasn't been saturated because
12:24 as soon as it goes on to AliExpress
12:26 hundreds of drop shippers flock to the
12:28 product and start shipping it so while
12:30 it's great that you found a trend that
12:32 isn't on AliExpress yet you still need
12:34 to convince your supplier on Alibaba to
12:36 do Drop Shipping for you alternatively
12:38 you need to buy a few units and ship it
12:40 to a warehouse like a 3pl or fulfill the
12:42 orders out from your house which will go
12:44 through in a second if your product is
12:45 on AliExpress and it's not saturated you
12:48 can't find 100 competitors then great
12:50 you should be able to set up Drop
12:51 Shipping and get selling right away
12:55 [Music]
13:04 so how do we find a good supplier it's
13:07 really important that we pick the right
13:09 supplier and partner for our business if
13:11 not there's going to be a range of
13:13 problems such as long delivery times
13:15 incorrect orders and poor product
13:18 quality this is going to create unhappy
13:19 customers which can get your Facebook ad
13:21 account and your payment processing
13:23 accounts banned AliExpress is generally
13:26 pretty good at showing the reviews of
13:28 these suppliers you can see that this
13:30 has got 490 sold but it's only got a 4.4
13:33 star rating so you really want to scroll
13:35 down and pick someone that's got a lot
13:37 of units sold but also some good reviews
13:40 so you can see this product here it's
13:42 $16 AUD with a 4.7 with 1,200 units sold
13:47 so this supplier seems relatively
13:49 credible once you're on the product page
13:50 make sure you scroll down and check out
13:52 the product information you can just
13:54 check out these reviews and make sure
13:55 they're legitimate if there's lots of
13:57 reviews without photos and really broken
13:59 English chances are that they could be
14:01 fake make sure you spend at least 5 to
14:03 10 minutes don't just spend 2 minutes
14:04 like I just did and now you're ready to
14:06 contact the supplier now if you're just
14:09 getting started you don't technically
14:11 don't need to ask the supplier when a
14:13 customer places an order with you you
14:15 can actually just go into AliExpress and
14:18 fill out the ordered details the problem
14:20 with this is it's going to rock up in
14:22 Chinese packaging with no custom
14:24 branding and you're going to create a
14:25 very poor customer experience this is
14:28 why you should be contacting your
14:29 supplier and providing all of your logo
14:31 and your branding and understanding
14:33 about their delivery service their
14:35 returns policy just all of those things
14:37 that are really really important if you
14:39 are a little bit confused about what
14:41 supplier to use you can use a tool like
14:43 zendrop this actually has vetted
14:45 suppliers of 3pl in China as a lot of
14:47 other tier one countries it also helps
14:50 you within later stages like fulfilling
14:51 to customers and tracking labels but
14:53 there's no reason why you can't do it
14:55 yourself all you need to do is create an
14:56 account once you have an account you can
14:58 just scroll over to the supplier's name
15:00 here and click contact now once you've
15:02 got your messages up then you're going
15:03 to use this supplier template that I
15:05 prepared for you it's really important
15:07 that you stand out from all of the
15:09 messages that this supplier is getting
15:11 the supplier really wants to make sure
15:12 that they're not wasting their time
15:14 providing a premium service to you this
15:16 is why you really want to increase your
15:18 credibility and your communication by
15:20 laying things out like this as well in a
15:22 numbered format you're able to
15:24 understand if the supplier answers each
15:26 question and how well their
15:28 communication is I'll leave a link in
15:29 the description for this Outreach email
15:32 the main things to point out is how many
15:34 orders can they handle per day also do
15:37 they have access to express shipping
15:39 lines the typical time frame for a Drop
15:41 Shipping delivery can be over 30 days
15:43 unless you use one of these Express
15:45 lines if you do 30-day delivery
15:47 customers are going to give you negative
15:49 reviews and your business is going to
15:50 get shut down really really quickly you
15:52 want to understand the shipping cost for
15:54 the product so you can do that gross
15:56 margin calculation that we talked about
15:57 earlier and understand how much you can
15:59 spend on ads this USA warehousing is
16:01 really good for when you want to expand
16:03 they can just ship the product from
16:05 China to the USA warehousing and do the
16:07 Fulfillment from there to shorten the
16:09 times and increase customer satisfaction
16:11 number four is really important which is
16:13 what you guys are here today to
16:14 understand how to custom brand your
16:16 product number five for getting a sample
16:18 is also really important because you're
16:20 going to need to use this sample to
16:22 shoot original content which we're going
16:24 to cover today that original content
16:25 includes photos for your website and
16:28 videos for your ads well suppliers will
16:30 have some images that you can use for
16:32 your product I don't recommend it
16:34 because lots of other people are going
16:35 to be using those images as well as you
16:37 don't understand if that supplier has
16:39 actually taken those images what can
16:41 happen is they can actually counterfeit
16:42 the images themselves you then use them
16:45 original owner such as you know the udie
16:47 then reports that imagery and your
16:49 Facebook ad account gets banned so it's
16:51 much much better to own the copyright
16:53 yourself and take the photos yourself
16:54 the refund policy is really important as
16:56 well you want them in writing to admit
16:58 that they will refund faulty products
17:00 that is their fault and finally you want
17:02 to get the communication on WhatsApp or
17:04 WeChat just to speed up the
17:06 communication one thing I will say is
17:08 that Alibaba does have some level of
17:11 buyer protection but to get that buyer
17:13 protection it's much better to talk on
17:15 Alibaba so Alibaba has all of those
17:17 records and finally you want to sign off
17:19 in a professional manner with a proper
17:20 business name once you've sent this to
17:22 your supplier don't just stop there you
17:24 want to send it to three or four
17:26 suppliers so that you can compare the
17:27 costs that the supplier is charging you
17:29 can then use this to negotiate to get
17:31 the price down and get the perfect
17:33 supplier for your business so for those
17:35 people that are wanting to use Alibaba
17:37 rather than AliExpress maybe the
17:39 products not available on AliExpress
17:41 very very similar it's a similar
17:42 ReachOut template and you are also are
17:45 looking for reviews now the amount of
17:47 orders that are generally placed through
17:49 Alibaba are going to be less cuz they
17:51 buy larger quantities but you can just
17:53 have us skim through and find someone
17:55 with a decent amount of reviews one
17:57 thing you can do is use this filter up
17:59 here for trade Assurance trade Assurance
18:01 basically means that Alibaba will
18:03 protect you if something goes wrong to
18:06 use let's say you order a th000 dog beds
18:09 and they all break all of the Zips are
18:10 broken they the completely wrong color
18:13 as well Alibaba will actually just let
18:15 you send in photos and they'll give you
18:17 a refund for that the main things to
18:19 understand about that is to be very very
18:21 specific on the order so you can use all
18:23 of your communication through Alibaba
18:26 through the the chat and make sure you
18:28 know if you're going to use colors you
18:29 want to be very very specific maybe
18:31 you're going to get actual samples from
18:33 the supplier and use them on the actual
18:36 order so it can be a little bit
18:38 confronting for new people the truth is
18:41 the supplier wants you to make money you
18:43 want to make money you want a good
18:44 relationship so they'll generally look
18:45 after you um I just suggest getting a
18:48 sample before you get the product the
18:50 other thing that you can actually do
18:51 through Alibaba is get what's called a
18:53 QC which is a quality control a QC will
18:56 go to the factory and check the product
18:59 based on what you actually ordered so
19:01 you can send photos to the QC and be
19:03 like look at the zip on the bed or look
19:05 at the color make sure it's panone 319
19:07 or something like that and the QC will
19:09 actually go to the factory and check the
19:11 products before they get shipped to your
19:12 customer the other thing you can do with
19:14 Alibaba is you can look down here and it
19:15 might say Trading Company you're not
19:17 actually directly buying from the
19:20 factory you're using what's called an
19:22 agent this can be challenging for a few
19:24 reasons firstly the agent's going to
19:25 take a cut so your price not might not
19:27 be as good as it could be second if
19:29 there are any problems who's going to
19:31 take responsibility for that so I
19:32 generally try to avoid trading companies
19:34 definitely do a bit of research have a
19:35 look at the company profile have a look
19:37 at their factory make sure they're all
19:39 legitimate and they've got some good
19:40 reviews and it should should work out
19:42 fine so you found your supplier of
19:43 choice you've got a sample that you've
19:45 signed off that you're really happy with
19:47 you understand the cost and the pricing
19:48 of the supplier now it's time to set up
19:50 your Shopify store you're probably
19:52 wondering is Shopify the only platform
19:54 that I should be using for my store
19:56 there's only two Alternatives right now
19:58 that you could consider and that's big
20:00 Commerce and web flow web flow in my
20:02 opinion just isn't quite there yet for
20:04 e-commerce but they are making a lot of
20:06 improvements over time big Commerce
20:08 unlike webflow is designed for
20:09 e-commerce but Shopify just has more
20:11 apps more functionality and is more
20:13 trusted with consumers in their checkout
20:15 process so you might just get an
20:16 increase in conversions I also think
20:18 it's way easier to use when you're
20:20 connecting to a 3pl or or connecting to
20:22 an app so your supplier can ship the
20:24 product Shopify has just got way way
20:26 more options cuz it's the market leader
20:27 so to get started on Shopify all we need
20:29 is an email you can click the link in my
20:31 bio it is an affiliate link they've got
20:33 a free trial operational at the moment I
20:36 think that is limited but they always
20:37 generally have some kind of offer you
20:39 can enter your email in here and say I'm
20:42 just getting started and you can
20:43 actually just skip all of these prompts
20:45 now you need to fill out your Shopify
20:47 name this is only internal so your
20:49 customers aren't going to see this this
20:50 isn't the domain name you just this is
20:52 just an organizational thing for
20:54 yourself so I'm just going to call this
20:56 Davy dog beds and we need need to make
20:59 sure that we select the correct country
21:01 that we're going to be selling the
21:02 product in this is going to help all of
21:04 our settings in the back end so I'm
21:05 going to start selling this in Australia
21:07 but you could do United States or UK
21:09 depending on where you're from and now
21:11 we need to create the Shopify ID and it
21:13 will just take a couple of minutes to
21:15 build your store and you can see now
21:17 you're set up in the Shopify portal this
21:19 is where all the magic happens this is
21:20 where you create your multi-million
21:22 dollar shopified brand this can feel
21:24 quite overwhelming this platform but
21:26 we're going to break down every section
21:27 that you need to know so you can see
21:29 I've used Dave's dog beds up here that's
21:31 internal only is that the best name that
21:33 we can create for our business probably
21:35 not I do think people overthink this
21:37 step your business name will really
21:39 shape around your product and your
21:40 branding Google that is a completely
21:43 madeup word there are a few requirements
21:45 that you need to think about firstly you
21:47 need to make sure it's not infringing on
21:49 any other business's trademarks or
21:51 copyright rights you can simply Google
21:53 the name you're thinking and if you can
21:54 see that there's a clear competitor stay
21:56 clear of that you can also search the
21:58 trademark Registries of your country the
22:00 second thing is you really want to make
22:01 sure that you can get the domain name or
22:03 if you're selling in the UK get the doco
22:06 doou or if in australia.com AU the final
22:09 thing is you want to make sure that your
22:11 name is easy to remember easy to spell
22:13 and easy to hear when you're talking
22:15 about your brand on a podcast you want
22:17 the person to easily be able to go into
22:19 Google search the exact name and You' be
22:21 on the top of the search ranking to not
22:23 waste too much time of this you can
22:24 actually just go business name generator
22:26 in Google and you can come to any any of
22:28 these free tools and I can just write
22:30 dog beds comfortable and it should give
22:34 us a few options dog Lazar you can click
22:37 on this and it will check the domains
22:39 this do com is taken so we don't want
22:41 that dog VI seems free we can just
22:43 search dog VI and you can see that
22:45 there's a Facebook for that product but
22:47 it's probably pretty safe to use you can
22:50 write dog vo trademark and I can't
22:53 really see anything popping up here
22:55 naturally you'd spend a little bit more
22:57 time on this making sure that it's all
22:58 clear but I think we can use dog vo.com
23:01 the next step we can go to canva.com one
23:05 of the most amazing free tools you don't
23:07 even need to hire a designer anymore and
23:09 all you need to do is write in logo and
23:11 you'll get a ton of options here you
23:13 want to pick one that's appropriate for
23:15 you A Simple Text logo should be fine we
23:18 can try this one we'll go more of a
23:20 premium brand F your logo again is
23:22 something that a lot of people spend a
23:23 lot of time on initially which doesn't
23:26 really matter all it needs to be is
23:28 credible so people don't think you're a
23:29 Drop Shipping scam and then it also
23:32 needs to align to your product category
23:33 you don't want it to just be completely
23:35 let's say it's environmental and you're
23:37 doing something that's completely not
23:39 environmental it just won't make much
23:40 sense if you want to spend a bit more
23:42 time on this we're going to cover how to
23:44 hire people using things like upwork
23:46 where you can easily hire a $5 to $30 an
23:49 hour graphic designer to design you a
23:51 logo in just a few hours but I'm going
23:53 to go DV just going to reshape this I
23:56 think I'm knocking off the Dior logo
24:00 and we can just delete this background
24:02 reenter it and you can save this logo
24:04 for free now you've got this logo there
24:06 are a few steps that you need to do so
24:08 this logo is going to be both on our
24:10 website and it's also going to be on our
24:12 packaging hopefully this will really
24:13 give a custom branded feel to the
24:16 product that you're shipping to
24:17 customers so you'll need to provide this
24:19 to the supplier they may give you
24:20 something called di lines where you
24:22 actually need to create the full
24:23 packaging yourself and put it on the
24:25 dial lines that that's if you want to
24:26 get really technical about it but
24:28 chances are the supplier is just going
24:30 to grab your logo and put it on the
24:31 placement you do want to get a photo of
24:33 it before they start shipping to
24:35 customers make sure the dimensions and
24:36 the colors look
24:38 [Music]
24:47 good but the other place you're going to
24:49 do it is you're going to come into the
24:50 shop of f store and you're going to
24:52 click this online store and this is
24:54 going to give us all the options of
24:56 themes and we're going to put our logo
24:57 on this theme somewhere the default
24:59 selection nowadays on Shopify cuz this
25:02 is a recent video for you is the dawn
25:04 theme this is a new Shopify 2.0 theme
25:07 and it's free and very customizable if
25:09 you wanted to you can come into the
25:11 theme store which is just down here
25:13 personally I think if you're getting
25:15 started you need to save as much money
25:16 as possible and you're just trying to
25:18 get those first few sales you don't need
25:20 to use any of these themes you can just
25:22 use the dawn one you're just going to
25:24 click customize up here and we're going
25:26 to enter What's called the theme editor
25:29 now this can feel a little bit
25:30 overwhelming as well but trust me it is
25:32 super intuitive on the left here you've
25:35 got all of your sections on the right
25:37 here you've got the preview and then up
25:39 here you've got the changing of the
25:41 screen so you can go to mobile desktop
25:43 or full screen you see if I change
25:45 mobile the preview is going to change as
25:47 well I recommend actually editing your
25:49 theme in mobile version to begin with
25:51 this is because the majority of your
25:53 traffic that comes onto your website is
25:55 actually going to be on mobile to edit
25:56 our logo you can see there's a
25:58 placeholder Davy's dog beds we're not
25:59 calling that so to upload your logo
26:01 you've got two options you can click the
26:03 edit brand section here now this is
26:05 Shopify attempt to make your branding
26:08 very consistent across your store
26:10 branding is one of the most important
26:12 things to have consistent you want it
26:14 consistent on your Facebook ads your
26:16 email and on your website so that when
26:18 people see all of these bits of
26:20 information they know they're in the
26:21 right place they know you can trust it
26:23 and it's credible you we all have that
26:25 experience of getting this really poorly
26:27 designed email we click through the
26:29 website it's a different color palette
26:30 and it's just really really confusing so
26:33 this is shopify's new section but you
26:35 can use the old way of doing it and you
26:37 just click change here select and you
26:40 can just upload any images that's in
26:42 your download folder so you can see
26:43 that's now added a lot of padding around
26:45 here padding is also another really
26:48 important design principle that we're
26:49 going to talk about today all of these
26:51 small things like design principles just
26:53 build trust and if you've got this large
26:56 section here it's going to take people
26:57 longer a scroll it just looks Scrappy no
27:00 professional website does it so to do
27:02 this all we need to do is come into
27:03 preview and we can go just select the
27:07 logo and click crop and save that and
27:10 then we can click edit and we can change
27:11 the image upload the new image and the
27:14 padding should be gone that looks much
27:16 much better so once you've got your logo
27:17 the next step is to just fill out the
27:19 rest of this information you can change
27:21 any of the blocks over here and you can
27:23 remove them one of the best steps that I
27:25 recommend at this stage is going to your
27:27 favorite e-commerce website maybe not
27:28 something as big as gym shark but
27:30 someone that you know that's doing
27:31 decent amounts of sales and really just
27:33 have a look at how they've set out their
27:35 layout things like videos probably isn't
27:37 necessary for you to set up in the very
27:39 early stages it's a very brand focused
27:41 feature of a website and you don't
27:42 really have that many videos right now
27:44 copy their layer and get all of the
27:46 things that you need so for example this
27:48 section here there's multiple products
27:50 that it's recommending and we're in only
27:52 one product store we're only custom
27:53 branding one product at this stage to
27:55 get rid of the section you can just
27:56 click this little eyeball here it will
27:58 just hide it and we can also add
28:00 sections down here depending on what you
28:01 can see on your favorite e-commerce
28:03 website the great thing about the theme
28:04 editor as well is you can actually just
28:06 click on these buttons to get the
28:08 customer experience on what they would
28:09 see next right now there is no products
28:12 in here so that's the next step that we
28:13 need to do to do this we just come into
28:15 Shopify we can click this little X here
28:18 we can go into products and add your
28:21 product this is where we're going to add
28:22 all of the information for our product
28:24 now this is a big topic this separates
28:26 the people that get sales any initially
28:28 versus the people that drive a lot of
28:30 traffic to their store and people just
28:32 leave straight away cuz they just don't
28:33 trust it this is where your inner
28:35 marketer needs to come out you need to
28:37 understand basic copywriting principles
28:39 which we're about to go into you need to
28:41 make sure your images are crisp which
28:42 we're also going to explain how to do so
28:44 I think this is a perfect time to start
28:46 talking about conversion rate
28:47 optimization a lot of people even if you
28:49 pick the perfect product you're going to
28:51 drive traffic to the website and you're
28:53 going to get no sales I want you to get
28:55 your first sale and get addicted to the
28:57 process and conversion rate optimization
28:59 encompasses a lot of things it's
29:00 basically just a fancy way of saying how
29:02 many people come to your store and
29:04 actually purchase the product to show
29:05 you a good example I'm going to go to
29:07 another website that's selling this
29:08 product so you can see that there's a
29:11 few conversion rate factors that you can
29:13 kind of emulate with your product again
29:15 I wouldn't be doing this one the three
29:16 main things we can break it down is
29:18 imagery website hierarchy so basically
29:21 the website structure and functionality
29:23 and then also the copywriting which is
29:26 really important so getting really
29:27 really crisp imagery is important as I
29:30 said you can use your iPhone you could
29:32 go on Amazon and buy a really cheap
29:33 black box you could also get a white
29:35 sheet put it next to a natural light
29:37 source like your window and take photos
29:39 of the iPhone but if it's not going out
29:41 crisp enough that you can compete with
29:43 competitors you may just need to Google
29:45 some e-commerce photography there's lots
29:47 of services now where you can get your
29:48 supplier to send the product to this
29:50 photographer they'll edit images in 2 to
29:53 3 weeks and they'll come out really
29:54 nicely you're also going to need these
29:56 lifestyle images as you can see here
29:58 this is the product actually being used
30:00 if it all looked like this this white
30:02 contoured background then your website's
30:04 going to be quite boring so that's kind
30:07 of your list you need some lifestyle
30:09 imagery which again you can take
30:10 yourself or and you need some white
30:12 contoured shots but that highlight the
30:14 product if we look at website structure
30:16 we've also got these icons which are
30:18 very very easy to download you can just
30:20 write in icons here and you can come to
30:22 something like flaton and you can just
30:24 buy and download the licenses for these
30:26 and that'll give you a really
30:27 professional feel most businesses use
30:29 those icons now we'll come to the actual
30:31 product page to understand what kind of
30:33 copy and photography we need you can see
30:35 there's a mixed range of Lifestyle
30:36 images influencer shots people showing
30:39 how the products actually used another
30:40 great thing that you can do and design
30:42 is competitor table that shows your
30:44 product versus other people on the
30:46 market and another good thing that you
30:47 can actually design is also a size guide
30:50 this is especially important if you're
30:52 going to do something like clothing or
30:55 something where there's multiple options
30:56 you customers the confidence to actually
30:59 uh purchase the right product it's going
31:01 to reduce returns as well the other
31:03 thing that we should talk about is
31:04 copyrighting now there's lots of
31:06 Frameworks that you can uh Google and
31:08 learn a little bit more about
31:10 copywriting I'm not going to go into it
31:11 now because it's a big topic I think
31:13 I've done an hour video on it before but
31:15 there's two Frameworks the there's the
31:16 Ada framework which is awareness
31:19 interest desire and action and then
31:22 there's the pass framework as well which
31:24 is problem agitate and solution you can
31:27 use that frame framework to lay out the
31:29 hierarchy of your copy so the problem
31:31 for our product maybe um anxious dogs
31:35 talking about that using a story to
31:38 agitate the solution like the dog can't
31:40 sleep and you're trying to do work and
31:42 then coming through with the solution
31:44 which is your product you can see how
31:45 that's much more enticing than just
31:47 saying this is a dog bed these
31:49 Frameworks are great to use on your
31:51 advertising platforms like Facebook
31:53 which we're going to show how to set up
31:54 in in the future for websites I do just
31:56 recommend going to check out some of
31:58 these uh some of the competitors but
32:01 also people that that you respect in the
32:03 industry um and making sure that you
32:05 just kind of tick all the boxes uh that
32:07 that are here these accordians that you
32:09 can see on here are very very easy to
32:12 set up with Shopify 2.0 themes and allow
32:15 people to kind of expand to learn more
32:17 because one thing you don't want to do
32:18 from a conversion rate point of view is
32:20 have big blocks of text that really stop
32:23 people from finding the key information
32:24 which is the price product um and then
32:27 you know the the variant selector here
32:29 and then the add toart button you want
32:31 to make sure that that's very very easy
32:33 to find so now you know all of that
32:35 let's set up our first product and show
32:37 you exactly how our new store is going
32:39 to look so again you come over here onto
32:41 the left tab and we're going to set up
32:44 our first product here it's nice and
32:46 easy click add your products on Shopify
32:49 and it this is now in a draft stage so
32:51 you can start typing this up this won't
32:53 come active on the store until you click
32:55 save but we can just call ours a uh um
32:58 thir dog
32:59 bed and this is going to be the title
33:03 and that you're going to see now when
33:05 you click that it's actually going to
33:06 change this search engine listing so
33:10 typically SEO for new stores is very
33:13 difficult okay it's a skill it's an art
33:14 form in itself and if you are going to
33:17 want to run SEO you need to be an expert
33:19 in that unless you're entering a less
33:21 competitive space so you may need to
33:24 also hire an agency to get your SEO
33:27 right but in the early stages you
33:28 probably don't need to worry too much
33:30 about this this meta description will um
33:32 be populated by up here the the one
33:35 thing I do recommend is just checking
33:37 this URL handle making sure that this
33:39 isn't heaps heaps long because that can
33:42 cause issues so if I did fa dog bed for
33:44 poodles or something like this it could
33:46 just make it really really long and that
33:49 can cause cause you issues in the future
33:51 so if I wanted to I could just go for
33:53 dog bed and just keep that URL nice and
33:56 clean but I'm just going do dog bet up
33:59 here and now we've got the title we just
34:01 need to um add the description so again
34:04 you can come to your uh we could just uh
34:07 let's just add some text here um test
34:10 test and just show how that's going to
34:13 affect us sore because I think it's
34:14 really important to understand the
34:16 actual design when you're considering
34:17 copy copy is going to be laid out in a
34:20 certain way on the store and we just
34:21 want to make sure that we understand
34:23 that before we go writing because it's
34:26 going to determine how much writing we
34:28 actually need to do if that makes sense
34:31 so we're going to come to the view store
34:32 you can see it's now available in our
34:34 store there's no images or no pricing or
34:36 anything like that and you can see how
34:38 this layout's actually going to look to
34:40 add the images we just click add files
34:43 and you want to keep all of your images
34:44 a consistent size so this might be
34:46 something that you actually want to tell
34:48 your e-commerce photographer um what
34:50 size images you want generally images
34:52 are in square format so we're just going
34:54 to add a couple of these images that
34:56 we've got now all we need to do is click
34:58 save now you should upload and we can
35:01 click preview and this will take us over
35:03 to our Shopify store and you can start
35:05 to see what the actual theme is going to
35:07 look like Shopify has these accordion
35:09 sections this uh theme this Dawn theme
35:11 actually has these sections which is
35:13 great this is editable in the theme
35:15 editor we'll jump in and show you how to
35:16 use that in just a second so really here
35:19 all we need to do is call out some
35:20 features and benefits so I can write
35:23 something like that up so we're calling
35:24 out the machine washable cover just the
35:26 main things because people might not
35:27 expand that category we're talking about
35:29 some really strong benefits that our
35:30 customer really cares about um where
35:33 also you know using some social proof
35:36 saying that you know we're the best dog
35:37 bed in Australia so I can just save that
35:40 refresh I can click preview here and you
35:42 can see that's starting to look pretty
35:44 good so to edit this section all we need
35:47 to do is come back into the theme editor
35:49 click customize and I want to look at
35:52 the mobile version remember most traffic
35:54 is going to be mobile I can come to this
35:56 product I can actually just click there
35:58 now and you see it's starting to shape
36:00 up really nicely if we wanted to edit
36:02 anything like this davies's dog bed that
36:03 was just because that's the store I set
36:05 up I can just click this little I here
36:07 and it will vanish which is great um and
36:10 then if I want to change this material
36:12 section all I need to do is on this
36:14 right hand side I could say um I
36:16 probably wouldn't say this in these
36:19 words but I could just say like 100%
36:21 polyester um removable cover I've
36:24 already said that but I'm just going to
36:25 say it again for the example sake and we
36:28 can expand that category and you can see
36:30 that there's plenty of information there
36:31 so I can just click save there now as
36:33 you scroll down there are some sections
36:35 you can change them depending on the the
36:37 comparison website that you're using but
36:39 I can just select image and I want to
36:40 just add a size guide you can see that's
36:42 now cropped wrong so all I need to do
36:44 here is Click adapter image again
36:46 everything's going to kind of be on this
36:48 right hand side so Tinker with that or
36:50 on the left hand side and we can see
36:52 that our product page is starting to
36:53 shape up nicely I can just check that on
36:56 desktop and it's looking pretty good
36:59 once there's a few more images here it
37:01 will look pretty Fresh So to complete
37:03 our product setup we need to do a couple
37:05 more things obviously we can't give away
37:07 the product for free so we're going to
37:09 come into back into the product and
37:11 we're going to complete the setup so I
37:14 would definitely add a few more images
37:16 now the pricing this again is going to
37:18 be dependent on how much it costs to get
37:20 it to your customer let's just say it's
37:23 $99 for this one the compared price I'll
37:25 just show you what that is it's uh let's
37:28 say it's 99 and it's compare it 129 you
37:31 can come in here and I'll just preview
37:33 this and so this is what brands use to
37:35 indicate that it's on sale you can see
37:37 there's the original price and then
37:39 there's the strike through price there
37:40 and in terms of taxes I'm going to show
37:42 you how to set up taxes and explain that
37:44 a little bit because I think that that's
37:45 one of the most confronting things for
37:46 people so I would leave charge taxes on
37:49 this product set up depending on where
37:51 you're selling cost per item now
37:53 customers won't see this it says it
37:55 there cost per item is important for you
37:57 to fill out because it's going to help
37:59 you understand your gross profit margin
38:01 Shopify has a range of reporting that
38:04 they have in their back end and if you
38:05 don't have the right cost per item it
38:08 can throw that out a little bit I
38:09 personally like to use this cost per
38:11 item to include everything including the
38:14 career cost to customers but not
38:16 including marketing because that's
38:17 variable depending on how much you spend
38:19 on marketing it it's going to go up and
38:21 down so you can basically then get this
38:25 metric a daily basis like because if you
38:28 sell 10 beds and it cost $10 it's going
38:30 to be $100 you can get your total
38:32 revenue minus this cost per item minus
38:35 your marketing and understand close to
38:37 your net profit there's obviously
38:38 operating costs there so if you're
38:40 struggling with the finance side of
38:42 things just the best best thing I could
38:44 say is you know just get started you can
38:45 watch a couple of YouTube videos on um
38:48 gross profit net profit those kind of
38:50 things so I'm just going to put $10 here
38:52 so then you've got inventory here now
38:54 this isn't really going to affect you
38:56 too much initially but I do recommend
38:58 you fill it out now the typical way that
39:01 we do you know SKS is you want to
39:04 understand what it is but you also don't
39:05 want to limit yourself in the future uh
39:08 by making it kind of too simple it's a
39:11 good organizational tool a typical thing
39:15 that you do is the first two letters is
39:17 going to be kind of the category of the
39:19 product so this is going to be DB for
39:22 dog bed um because if let's say I bring
39:24 out um you know dog vests or something
39:27 like that it would probably be dog vests
39:29 or if I wanted to bring out cat beds it
39:31 would be CB because then it's going to
39:33 when we export all of the data this
39:35 might be getting too granular but it's
39:37 going to put all of those rows on the
39:40 exact same row on a spreadsheet so it
39:41 just keeps keeps things tidy so this
39:43 might be dog bed gray so this is the
39:45 unique element uh that will different
39:49 differ this from the pink dog bed that
39:51 we added onto our store in a different
39:53 way so barcode this is again for your
39:57 intern purposes uh I do recommend using
40:00 a barcode just go to a free barcode
40:02 generator that barcode is going to be
40:04 used by your 3s if you're going to use
40:06 that because they scan the product when
40:08 it comes in and then it helps you track
40:11 your inventory because you you need to
40:13 hold the 3pl accountable to that
40:15 inventory this can also be a little bit
40:17 confronting but again I just recommend
40:19 watching a YouTube video on how to set
40:21 up barcodes so if I just click save this
40:23 I should be able to show you what track
40:25 quantity is tracking quantity is is
40:27 really important if you're not just drop
40:29 shipping if you're drop shipping from
40:31 your supplier and and you're not
40:32 ordering big batches at a time that they
40:34 are holding chances are you won't
40:36 actually need to track the quantity
40:37 because there's kind of an unlimited
40:39 amount but if you're ordering let's say
40:41 100 units from your supplier that's
40:42 going to drop ship the product then with
40:45 your logo then you do need to actually
40:47 track the quantity because you can only
40:48 sell those 100 and you need to place
40:50 another order for another 100 when you
40:53 start to sell out so I do recommend
40:55 doing um tracking you can just edit this
40:58 number here you can just add 100 units
41:00 cuz I just bought 100 units click save
41:04 and that should be absolutely fine it's
41:05 going to actually make our product on
41:08 our website if I click refresh here you
41:10 might have noticed that that went from
41:12 sold out to now on sale which is great
41:14 we can start selling the product and
41:16 then you've got weight now weight can be
41:17 a little bit confusing for people as
41:19 well now weight can affect a few things
41:22 sometimes this Shopify data when an
41:23 order comes through it gets passed to
41:25 another software so that software could
41:27 be a a shipping software that connects
41:29 with a courier like Australia Post or
41:32 Hermes or wherever you are UPS if you're
41:34 not using any of these software chances
41:36 are that the only effect that this
41:38 shipping section is going to have is
41:40 internal so and we can I'll show you
41:42 exactly what that means in a second I do
41:45 recommend just approximating it at this
41:47 point this Customs information again
41:49 it's a little bit Technical and when
41:50 you're starting it's probably not going
41:51 to be passed through to anything so you
41:53 can just leave that blank this options
41:55 thing definitely is important for me to
41:57 to show you so if we wanted to add
41:59 multiple size or multiple colors to this
42:02 product we would need to create options
42:05 now you'll notice I've only got one skew
42:07 at the moment so when I add size now I
42:09 can just add the multiple sizes medium
42:11 large and I can click done and you can
42:13 see that's instantly added these
42:15 variants here and you can see that now
42:17 there is multiple skews so I may need to
42:19 change that organizational point of view
42:21 and I may also need to change the name
42:23 of the product and the pricing of the
42:24 product so large might be 1 2 9 and this
42:28 now needs to be DB gray large and I can
42:32 click save and this is also going to
42:33 throw out our inventory amounts because
42:36 you just because you have lots of size
42:37 in medium doesn't mean you're going to
42:38 have size lots of size in large as well
42:41 so you can see that that's what this
42:42 number is here there's 100 units of the
42:45 large let's say we got
42:47 50 and actually let me just leave that
42:49 and show you exactly what that's done to
42:51 the product page I can just refresh this
42:53 product page now you can see that
42:55 there's a variant selector I can select
42:57 large but my large is sold out cuz I had
42:59 no inventory or I can select medium and
43:02 you can now add the product to the car
43:04 so that's basically all you need to know
43:06 that product is pretty well set up um on
43:09 the front end a common mistake that I
43:11 see is people just don't set up the back
43:13 end of Shopify it's so so important
43:15 typically people start driving traffic
43:17 to a store and they're like why is
43:19 nobody checking out I'm getting lots of
43:20 traffic and it's because one the
43:22 customers actually go can't even select
43:24 the country to ship to to their country
43:27 or two it cost a lot of money to ship it
43:29 to the country so make sure you come
43:31 into these settings and there's a range
43:33 of options that you're actually going to
43:34 need a step by step go through store
43:36 details this is kind of your basic
43:38 information such as your ABN or like
43:41 your your currency so you can select the
43:43 currency that you're selling in the plan
43:45 is the Shopify plan you can upgrade to a
43:48 certain plan to get certain benefits of
43:50 Shopify I recommend just staying on the
43:52 cheapest plan until you're prompted
43:53 otherwise to to get a feature that you
43:55 really need billing this is where you're
43:57 going to add your credit card and uh get
43:59 build users and permissions this is
44:02 where you can add you know Consultants
44:03 again I'm going to talk about hiring
44:05 people soon payments is a really
44:07 important one so you can see that
44:09 there's already been a PayPal created
44:11 for this store this default PayPal is
44:14 actually going to be linked directly to
44:16 the email that I used in the very first
44:18 step when I set up the shop advice store
44:20 so if you've got lots of businesses that
44:22 are running out of maybe that one email
44:24 it may be best to create a brand new
44:26 Gmail for the the Shopify store so it it
44:29 sets up with his Paypal alternatively
44:32 all you need to do is Click manage and
44:34 you can just uh you can change this
44:36 account connected and set up a PayPal in
44:38 a separate step I do recommend just
44:40 setting up a brand new PayPal and then
44:42 linking it just gives you a little bit
44:44 more control check out now this one's
44:45 important I like to click phone number
44:47 and email it just prevents fraud and
44:49 there is also a lot of cers that you use
44:52 that really do need a phone number to
44:54 actually contact the customer when the
44:56 product is on its way so I'm not sure
44:58 why Shopify defaults the email um but I
45:02 I do recommend setting up phone number I
45:04 also recommend require first name and
45:07 last name again this is going to ensure
45:09 that your product gets delivered with
45:10 your criers which is one of the main
45:12 problems the rest of these settings are
45:14 absolutely fine now we get down to
45:16 shipping and delivery over time this has
45:18 gotten actually more complicated I think
45:20 but it's just shopify's way of making it
45:22 more versatile for you you can just
45:25 click manage shipping rates here there
45:27 should be default products selected you
45:29 can see our third dog bed is already
45:31 there now you can see all of these
45:33 shipping options so this is again just
45:35 going to be the default when we set up
45:38 and you can see we've got shipping to
45:39 Australia which is domestic rather than
45:41 International has all of these default
45:44 options now Shopify doesn't know what
45:45 Courier you're using or anything like
45:47 that so I highly recommend just editing
45:50 these completely now there's a few ways
45:52 we can do this I actually recommend just
45:54 coming in here and deleting these you
45:56 can change the country which is the Zone
45:58 here for example if you wanted to add
46:00 New Zealand to this because it's not too
46:01 far away we can just select this country
46:04 here and save it I'm not going to do
46:06 that once you understand the the cost to
46:08 deliver to this country we can just
46:10 click edit rate and we're just going to
46:13 add one shipping option here which is
46:15 standard 2 to8 business days let's say
46:17 you don't have an option that's either
46:19 of these you'll need to create a custom
46:21 flat rate I do recommend doing this
46:23 because then you can actually change the
46:25 rate name so standard sounds a little
46:27 bit uh average if if that makes sense um
46:31 so we can just do let's just say 2
46:34 to8 business day um let's do track sh
46:40 shipping today business days in bracket
46:44 and we can just click add let's do free
46:47 that sounds way better than standard
46:49 we'll make that
46:50 $0 now these conditions are really
46:52 important to get right and you may might
46:55 remember we set up the item on the
46:57 product before so let's say you know I
47:00 set that to 1.5 kilos before let's say
47:03 that I did 1.6 kilos here now when a
47:08 customer goes to my checkout they will
47:10 not be able to purchase his product
47:12 because there's no shipping option for
47:14 it so you we really want to just make
47:16 sure that there is no limits on this
47:18 zero you can also do price as well let's
47:21 say if you're going to buy uh if you're
47:24 going to do a free shipping offer over
47:26 $100 you could set this order price as
47:29 $100 like this and now customers can get
47:32 free shipping on certain orders but I'm
47:33 just going to do this click done and
47:39 save now we've got rest of the world
47:41 shipping if you're not able to ship to
47:42 the Middle East for under $20 people can
47:45 buy lots of products and it's
47:46 automatically going to ship and you're
47:48 going to lose lots of money so you need
47:49 to be quite confident in um shipping
47:51 internationally before you set it up so
47:53 I'm just going to delete that so now
47:55 customers in Australia when they add any
47:57 of these products if added a second
47:59 product it would automatically populate
48:01 here they should be able to see this
48:03 free track shipping option at checkout
48:06 I'm going to keep working through the
48:07 settings just making sure that we've
48:08 covered everything sales tax is highly
48:11 dependent on the region that you're
48:13 based in so you know the UK has that
48:16 Australia has GST so you want to collect
48:19 sales tax from your customers because
48:22 you're going to need to pay that back to
48:24 the government minus the cost of import
48:26 in that product so when you import let's
48:29 say $10,000 worth of dog beds to
48:32 Australia you're going to pay a certain
48:34 amount of GST bringing that product in
48:36 you're going to have lots of other GST
48:38 expenses as well like let's say you know
48:41 buying office equipment they maybe be
48:42 sales taxes on that you're going to
48:44 charge your sales tax to your customers
48:46 and then you're going to deduct all of
48:48 those other GST expenses from that so
48:50 it's really important that you are
48:52 collecting that and you're also
48:53 communicating that to the customer cuz
48:55 they may need to claim those funds back
48:57 as well if it's for business use the
49:00 tricky part is is this section down here
49:03 which is include tax in prices if I do
49:06 not if I set this Australia to um
49:10 collect GST you'll need to add your
49:12 appropriate ABN number here but now I
49:14 have um selected this what's going to
49:16 happen is this actual this added GST is
49:20 actually going to be added on the
49:21 product let's say we're selling it for
49:23 $100 there's going to be about 10% added
49:26 onto to that for the customer that can
49:28 be a really jarring experience because
49:30 the customer is expecting to pay1 and
49:32 then it's saying $110 at the checkout so
49:35 typically what you want to do is include
49:38 tax in the prices and click save
49:41 customers are going and they're only
49:42 going to have to pay the 100 that you
49:44 originally planned for and then you need
49:46 to handle sales taxes on your side if
49:48 you're still confused about that I
49:50 recommend just looking up Drop Shipping
49:51 taxes you can search that on YouTube and
49:53 just get a full um understanding of that
49:56 depending on what countries you're
49:57 shipping to the next thing in settings
49:59 is locations now this isn't too
50:01 important this is if you have multiple
50:02 warehouses like you might have one
50:04 Shopify account but you might have five
50:06 warehouses around the world a good
50:08 example is if your factory in China is
50:10 holding some inventory for you but then
50:13 you've also got a warehouse in the
50:15 United States maybe it's run by the same
50:17 person but you might want to be clear in
50:19 Shopify where that inventory is actually
50:21 held typically this isn't for beginners
50:24 cuz you're only going to have inventory
50:25 in one situation
50:27 gift cards you're not going to need to
50:29 worry about that but that's where it is
50:30 you can set up a gift card offer um for
50:33 Christmas and people can go and and
50:35 purchase them and give them to people um
50:37 markets this is where you can manage uh
50:40 having multiple regions and selling to
50:42 one thing I will say about this is if
50:45 you're setting up a uh you know if you
50:47 want to create a global brand that's
50:49 really loved I do recommend setting up
50:51 just brand new Shopify stores for each
50:53 region that you're going to sell in the
50:55 reason for this is is it helps you
50:57 control the information that the
51:00 customer is seeing you might have
51:01 different types of products or marketing
51:04 tactics for each country it'll also make
51:06 customers very very confident that
51:08 they're shopping in the right country if
51:09 you have the localized domain so the
51:12 do.uk for UK and. com.au for Australia
51:17 so you can then drive traffic and
51:19 control the traffic sources to go to
51:21 each of those stores just with more ease
51:23 it just gives you more control but if
51:25 you wanted to set up multiple AG this is
51:27 kind of way with a one store you can use
51:29 something called a currency converter
51:31 which is an app and you can also use
51:33 this as well to get get more flexibility
51:36 so then you've got apps and sales
51:37 channels we're going to cover that in a
51:39 in a second um you've got domains so I
51:42 think this is a a good place to talk
51:45 about setting up your domain so we can
51:47 actually purchase a product and and show
51:49 you everything that we've we've gone
51:51 through so far you got two options here
51:53 you can use something like name sheep
51:55 and then link name she back to Shopify
51:57 which is really really easy I do
51:59 actually recommend this option because
52:01 then you have the domain of Shopify
52:04 which it can be a little bit difficult
52:06 let's say if you ever wanted to move
52:07 away from Shopify I haven't done this
52:09 but to move the domain that you purchase
52:12 with Shopify to something like another
52:14 big Commerce or something like that
52:16 might be a little bit more difficult
52:17 whereas if you've got it on name cheap
52:19 and you've got it completely separated
52:21 it just gives you a little bit more
52:22 flexibility in the future and I I think
52:25 the price is is probably cheaper as well
52:28 so but if you wanted to you can just uh
52:30 buy it through Shopify with just a few
52:32 clicks so all we need to do is put in
52:34 our domain here and click buy this is
52:37 then going to prompt you to add all your
52:38 credit card details in and also your
52:40 address which I can do and I can click
52:42 buy now again my shipping options are
52:44 all for Australia but you just need to
52:46 make sure that you set that up to the UK
52:48 as well now this should give us the
52:49 option to check out now you do want to
52:52 select auto renew the last thing you
52:54 want is your website going down because
52:56 you get to uh renew it and you really do
52:59 want the Privacy option as well that's
53:02 selected here now that isn't going to be
53:04 applicable for certain Regional domains
53:06 but this is just going to stop you
53:07 getting 5 million uh random phone calls
53:10 of people trying to sell you shopice
53:11 stores so I can now just click buy
53:13 domain and that should link up so now
53:16 I've set this up it should actually be
53:18 operational but it can just take a
53:20 little bit of time so you can see the
53:22 SSL is pending once this goes all green
53:25 it should be ready to go and you can
53:27 preview your store so I'll give that an
53:29 hour or so could take up to 24 hours now
53:32 we've got Customer Events here pixels
53:34 I'm not going to do anything in this
53:35 section because it's a big topic and
53:36 we're just going to cover that when we
53:37 go over Facebook marketing brand I've
53:40 already talked about you can add your
53:41 colors there to get make sure that it
53:43 feels consistent notifications now this
53:46 one is generally important when the
53:48 person places an order with they're
53:51 going to go through all of these
53:52 automated emails so you can Custom
53:54 Design these to be much much cleaner
53:57 but one good way you can preview them
53:59 you can add some more information you
54:00 might want to reiterate you know your
54:02 your shipping policy or your refund
54:04 policy here but you can change a lot of
54:06 these things in our email marketing
54:08 software that we're going to cover in a
54:10 little bit which is called clavio meta
54:12 Fields you don't need to worry too much
54:13 about this files this is just where you
54:15 can add all your images um and you can
54:17 pull them into that theme editor you can
54:19 also download some images uh maybe you
54:22 can use them for Facebook ads store
54:24 languages isn't too important but then
54:26 you got policies now Shopify does have
54:29 the ability to create a refund policy
54:31 and a privacy policy um and a terms of
54:35 service now I do recommend you uh do
54:39 this and change it accordingly if you do
54:42 get to a relatively large size for your
54:44 business it is going to require you to
54:46 go to a lawyer and actually set up these
54:48 properly if you're in Australia you can
54:50 use something like legal Vision just use
54:51 a really cheap lawyer to go over it and
54:53 make sure you're all covered but until
54:55 you're doing decent volume I don't think
54:56 you need to worry about this too much
54:58 now there's going to be a couple of
55:00 places that I recommend you put this
55:01 privacy policy and terms of service one
55:04 is in the footer of your website which
55:06 I'm going to show you how to do but then
55:08 also it's actually going to be
55:09 automatically placed in the checkout of
55:11 your website so when they're checking
55:13 out they should be able to see this as
55:15 part of their process so now what we're
55:18 going to do is we're going to go into
55:20 plan I want to set up a PID plan so we
55:22 can actually previe our website and go
55:23 to the checkout and show you some of the
55:24 things that we've set up so I'm going to
55:26 click choose plan now Shopify do have an
55:28 offer at the moment for um $1 per month
55:31 for 3 months so I'm just going to select
55:33 that I don't think that that's going to
55:34 be around forever just pick the cheapest
55:36 plan initially and we're going to do
55:38 monthly billing click confirm and start
55:41 plan so now we've got all the settings
55:42 set up let's go through the rest of
55:44 these columns on the left so we've gone
55:46 through products customers you're not
55:48 going to use this that much uh because
55:50 you can generally use the search and the
55:52 orders to to find information about your
55:54 customers but this is is just going to
55:56 have all of the data what they've
55:58 ordered their address and everything in
56:00 case you need it analytics again until
56:02 you drive a bit of traffic to the store
56:04 you're not going to need to use this too
56:06 much but it's going to have sales all of
56:09 your sessions your conversion rate which
56:10 we touched on a little bit earlier so
56:12 this will eventually become kind of you
56:15 know what are you doing is it working
56:16 and everything like that um we will show
56:19 you how to set up Google analytics which
56:21 gives you a lot more data than this
56:23 we've also got marketing really you're
56:25 not going to use that to much either I
56:26 think Shopify is trying to become you
56:28 know a bit of a hub for the marketing
56:30 side of things but you're generally
56:31 going to rely on the other platforms
56:33 like Facebook's in inbuilt platform to
56:36 help understand your marketing discounts
56:39 you will be using this a little bit to
56:41 create a discount uh you can create one
56:44 for you know influencers you might want
56:46 to say you know 10% off or let's say
56:48 you've got a Black Friday sale or a
56:50 Christmas sale you can just click create
56:52 discount here and you've got multiple
56:54 options so the amount of product product
56:56 is going to be and the amount of order
56:58 is generally going to be what you use
57:00 most buy one get one free or buy one get
57:03 one 50% is a great offer as well and
57:05 then free shipping is pretty easy but to
57:08 show you how to create a product
57:09 discount let's say we want to give 10%
57:11 off of our beds we could just do 10 off
57:14 and we are going to use this in when we
57:16 set up our emails I'm just going to do
57:18 10 off there we've got fixed amount or
57:21 percentage we need to be very clear if
57:23 it's 10% off or $10 off I'm going to
57:26 make make it a percentage uh for this
57:28 one so we'll just do 10% off now you do
57:32 it's really really important that you
57:34 select the products that you want this
57:37 to be applied to because what can happen
57:40 is if you add more products that the
57:41 discounts not allowed for this could
57:44 then automatically be applied for that
57:46 and you might start losing money on
57:47 those so it's really important that you
57:49 keep your discount codes nice and
57:50 organized otherwise you're going to get
57:52 scammed out of lots of money you've got
57:54 lots of other options like minimum Pur
57:56 purch required um and customer
57:59 eligibility but I don't they're not
58:01 going to matter too much you can limit
58:03 it to the first purchase or um you know
58:06 one per person if You' like but people
58:08 generally can get around those kind of
58:10 things with different emails and and
58:12 whatnot the other thing that you do need
58:14 to be cons considerate of is the
58:16 combination so Shopify now allows the
58:19 stacking of discount codes you really I
58:22 I highly recommend not letting you stack
58:24 discount codes initially just again
58:26 trying to keep organized so I'm going to
58:28 save that one and we're going to use
58:30 that again in our email shortly now
58:32 we'll keep working down the list we've
58:33 gone into the online store before when
58:35 we selected our themes but you do want
58:37 to also come down to uh these sections
58:39 so blog post is if you wanted to create
58:43 a blog post this is important for SEO
58:45 purposes or maybe you want to educate
58:48 your customers and send traffic to a
58:50 specific blog post I don't recommend I
58:53 think this is a bit of a waste of time
58:55 unless you really know what you're doing
58:56 initially pages from a structural point
58:58 of view are quite similar but Pages can
59:01 be something like your contact form or
59:04 an order tracking form or an about us
59:06 page now these are the things that
59:08 you're going to see on the top of your
59:09 website so you can see over here we've
59:11 got this page already the contact form
59:14 in the top of our navigation so
59:16 customers are generally going to click
59:17 on this there are a few pages that every
59:19 shoply store really needs to have so
59:21 that customers have trust and they're
59:23 able to purchase the contact form is
59:26 great but I like to make that an FAQ
59:28 page this is where customers have to
59:30 click to educate themselves around the
59:32 product the shipping Services just
59:34 getting more information than they can
59:36 get on your product page and generally
59:38 you can put your contact page in within
59:41 that information so that customers can
59:43 generally answer their own question
59:44 that's going to reduce the amount of
59:46 customer service that you're actually
59:48 going to get the about us if you're
59:49 trying to build a really great brand is
59:51 important generally if you're just
59:52 starting out and you don't have this
59:54 revolutionary idea you're not partnering
59:56 ING with any celebrities or anything
59:57 like that there's not that much you can
59:59 say and it's a controversial opinion but
60:01 customers generally don't really care
60:03 that much about you they care about what
60:05 the product is going to do for them so
60:07 you can write write a little bit of
60:09 information about it to create a new
60:11 page let's say I was going to make an
60:13 about us page I'll just click add page
60:16 about
60:17 us and I could just paste all the
60:20 information here and the only other
60:23 thing that you could consider is
60:24 changing the SEO but you can see our
60:26 domain is um relatively clean there and
60:29 I can click save now if I wanted to
60:31 preview this page I need to remove the
60:34 password from the store so they'll
60:35 automatically apply a password to your
60:37 store so I can just click remove
60:39 password here and you can see our store
60:41 is now open of the business I can
60:42 actually preview this page if I wanted
60:44 to now come here click view page and you
60:47 can see there's an about us page already
60:49 got a contact form in it but you can
60:51 just put an email there and I don't use
60:53 contact forms the other section we've
60:54 got under online store is navigation now
60:57 this is this section up here this is
60:59 called a navigation and this is another
61:01 navigation so this is the header this is
61:04 the footer if we come back to this
61:06 section we've got the main menu this is
61:08 the header and then the footer menu you
61:10 can see Shopify is all already defaulted
61:14 to that those menus now let's say I
61:16 wanted to add my privacy policy here I
61:19 could add menu item I could do privacy
61:22 policy and I can then click policies and
61:24 I can just add privacy policy and when I
61:26 click add now and save menu and I come
61:29 back to my store and I refresh this you
61:32 can see now that this privacy policy has
61:34 been added recommend adding all your
61:36 terms and services and everything into
61:38 that now if I wanted to add our about
61:40 page about us page that I just added
61:42 it's the exact same Pro process and I'll
61:44 just write about us Shopify makes it
61:46 nice and easy to add this and I can
61:49 click
61:50 save and this should populate at the top
61:53 right here the final section that you do
61:54 need to go into is these preferences now
61:57 why this is important is because if
61:59 someone texts this store in using
62:01 iMessage there's always going to be that
62:03 little preview that pops up now you
62:05 don't want this to just be the default
62:07 because who knows what kind of
62:08 information it's just going to pull from
62:10 the store and try to automatically
62:12 populate it so we do want to sell
62:13 ourselves in this so premium dog beds in
62:19 Australia the
62:23 number um
62:26 cing dog beds to help your pet sleep
62:31 free
62:33 delivery and just add some information
62:35 there and we can click save we can
62:37 change this social previe preview image
62:39 from our logo as well if we wanted to
62:40 add a dog bed now there's a few more
62:42 sections here Google analytics Facebook
62:44 pixel which we're going to cover you've
62:46 also got your customer privacy which is
62:47 also important and then you've got you
62:50 can change your password in this section
62:51 as well but we've already removed that
62:54 [Music]
63:02 so the final thing that we've got on
63:04 this left hand side is apps now these
63:06 are the superpower of Shopify a lot of
63:10 the other providers like big Commerce
63:12 just don't have as many apps and they
63:14 really can supercharge your store they
63:17 can increase average order value so how
63:20 much every person spends on your store
63:22 as an average and they can also you know
63:25 increase conver version rate which we've
63:26 already talked about they can uh you
63:29 know communicate to customers to improve
63:31 customer service as well there's just a
63:33 whole range of apps a lot of these apps
63:36 will work on a free trial and then there
63:38 will be a monthly billing after that or
63:41 they might charge per usage like every
63:43 since time time places or do they take a
63:45 small fee one of the main mistakes I see
63:48 with new entrepreneurs is they install a
63:49 ton of apps thinking hey this one will
63:51 work this one will work but you don't
63:53 need that many I'm going to give you the
63:55 absolute key ones that you need to
63:57 ensure that you can be profitable on
63:59 Facebook ads or you know running organic
64:01 social as we as we're going to talk
64:03 about in a sec so if you add way too
64:05 many apps it can actually slow your
64:07 website down and have a negative
64:09 consequence for you so you need to be
64:10 really selective around the apps that
64:12 you add to add one all you need to do is
64:14 click this app section and you can
64:16 actually search the apps up here now and
64:19 we're going to download a review app so
64:21 if you wanted to you could just write in
64:23 reviews now reviews are the things that
64:25 are going to be on on the bottom of your
64:26 website everyone's going to review your
64:28 product and it's going to increase trust
64:30 you can see there's a lot of review apps
64:32 there 923 that have popped up there's a
64:35 few that I could recommend so Luke is
64:38 the main you can see how many reviews
64:40 it's got Luke is probably the main one
64:42 that a lot of drop shippers use that is
64:45 good and bad it's quite cheap and easy
64:47 to use but because so many Drop Shipping
64:50 and scamming websites use it they I do
64:52 feel like it's losing a little bit of
64:54 trust within the IND and for consumers
64:57 because when they see it they're like oh
64:58 this is a Drop Shipping Store I'll just
65:00 show you how much it costs and how it
65:02 looks so you can see that there's photo
65:04 reviews on the product page this allows
65:06 people to really see how it looks on
65:09 Photo reviews are far more trustworthy
65:11 than text reviews which people kind of
65:13 just uh don't even read anymore the only
65:15 thing better than photo reviews in my
65:17 opinion is video reviews at this stage
65:19 cuz people are really going to trust
65:20 them so looks is pretty cheap at $9.99
65:23 14-day free trial the other that I will
65:26 show you that we are now using is okendo
65:29 now I think that this is just a little
65:31 bit more robust it is more expensive but
65:34 they are doing some really really cool
65:36 stuff they actually have the ability you
65:37 can see here to kind of create
65:41 customized features this is a makeup or
65:44 a deodorant or something like that and
65:46 you can see that they um can add
65:48 Effectiveness and scent so for AI we
65:50 could say uh size true to size with a
65:53 fit or something like that so if you've
65:55 got a clothing brand I think okeno can
65:57 be a really really good option as well
66:00 so I'm just going to add that to the app
66:02 and we can click install here and we've
66:05 just added our first app ever now review
66:08 apps if you pick one that isn't new
66:09 there's a chance that there may be some
66:11 installation process that uh you need to
66:15 use a developer to install or if you
66:17 know basic HTML but um the good thing
66:20 about using one that is rather robust is
66:24 that you can generally just click Auto
66:26 install and all you need to do is click
66:28 this and enable it on your website you
66:30 can see that's already enabled which is
66:31 all good so now you can come to your
66:33 website you can see we've got this
66:34 little reviews tab finally over here you
66:36 can open this up this is where customers
66:38 will populate their reviews typically
66:40 you can add the reviews onto the product
66:42 page that's kind of best practice at the
66:45 moment which is pretty simple to do
66:46 sometimes it'll actually do it
66:48 automatically this will be fine for now
66:50 as we get our store set up the next app
66:52 that I wanted to show you is a postp
66:53 purchase upsell app so if we just write
66:56 post purchase now what a post purchase
66:59 is is after your customer purchases your
67:03 product they'll get a one-time offer for
67:05 another product now this may feel like
67:08 you're being very intrusive but
67:09 providing you make the offer very uh
67:12 enticing for people it's a win-win
67:14 because if you think about it when you
67:17 ship you know one product to someone
67:19 adding a second product into that
67:21 package is not going to be as expensive
67:23 as shipping two individually so you
67:26 actually have more ability to Discount
67:28 your second product because the Courier
67:31 cost from your supplier or from your
67:33 Warehouse is actually a significant part
67:35 of the product overall so adding a
67:38 second offer is is really really good
67:40 way to increase average order value
67:42 increase customer satisfaction and
67:44 everyone kind of wins this allows you to
67:47 spend more on marketing and make more
67:48 money you've got a few options here
67:50 you've got after sell which I've used
67:52 before and it is quite nice and simple
67:55 you've also got zipper fire which is
67:56 oneclick upsell as well I've used that
67:58 as well it's great and then we've got a
68:00 honey this is all what we're currently
68:02 using and it uh is is quite good so I'm
68:05 just going to add this app it's got
68:06 great analytics and great customization
68:08 when I say analytics it's can you have
68:11 the ability to split test certain offers
68:14 so sh giving them an extra $30 discount
68:17 versus $20 discount on the second
68:20 purchase and how much does that affect
68:22 the um uptake rate so I've understood
68:24 that offer and we can just go thanks and
68:27 we can create our first funnel now it's
68:29 telling us what to trigger so what
68:31 happens is we generally want someone
68:33 purchasing our fur bed and we select
68:36 post purchase I'll just quickly explain
68:38 what some of these are this card page is
68:41 when people are have added to the cart
68:43 and they're about to check out they
68:44 might get another offer here product
68:46 page is on product page offer so it
68:49 would be like buy one you know get one
68:51 50% off you can also do that with the
68:53 developer the thank you page is U the
68:57 actual confirmation page where they'll
68:59 get showing their tracking number that
69:00 order summary and whatnot and blog page
69:03 you probably don't need that so to do
69:05 this we actually need to come into the
69:07 checkout settings and allow them to use
69:10 it so you can scroll down here post
69:12 purchase page click honeycomb click save
69:15 come back here so now we need to set up
69:17 our actual offer I do recommend setting
69:19 this up all manually so you can
69:21 understand what what offers are going to
69:23 happen we can show for all purchases for
69:25 this product then we can select our
69:27 third bed because that's our only
69:29 product at this stage but if we added
69:30 more now we can select the amount of
69:33 discount they're going to get on their
69:34 second product so let's say they're
69:35 going to get 30% off their second offer
69:37 you might want to limit it one per
69:39 person which uh could make sense if you
69:41 you know you don't want people taking
69:43 too many of these offers and giving them
69:44 to friends or something like that and
69:46 then you should be able to click save
69:47 and activate you can see that little
69:49 preview on the right hand side there so
69:51 I'll just go back to that preview so you
69:52 can see what it's going to look like so
69:53 this is the offer that they got to get
69:55 special offer add this product to your
69:57 order offer will expire in 5 minutes
69:59 it's a bit of urgency they can select
70:01 their size still um if that had stock
70:04 that would work but the medium is in
70:05 stock they just one click there and
70:07 they'll be charged immediately and it'll
70:09 be added to their order so that's
70:11 operational now I should get a little
70:12 bit of an aov increase from that how a
70:14 play with that you can really customize
70:16 this offer you could run split tests on
70:18 it as well and uh try to get it uh to
70:20 the highest uptake possible this is the
70:22 conversion rate here if you ever need to
70:24 see the analy antics you click on
70:26 analytics and you'll be able to see all
70:28 of your data um in this section if you
70:30 wanted to change the design these
70:31 designs over here they've got a couple
70:33 of other examples for you as well that
70:35 you can update
70:44 on so a couple more essential apps that
70:46 you're going to need is postcript now
70:49 postcript is an SMS app there's a couple
70:52 of others that people uh recommend such
70:54 as SMS bump you can see it here um
70:57 postcript I think is the best from a
70:59 compliance point of view I think they're
71:00 very supportive in compliance now
71:03 there's been big lawsuits against brands
71:06 that um haven't done SMS compliance
71:09 properly and have have been soed so you
71:12 do need to understand the compliance
71:15 side of postcript and what country
71:17 you're in mainly most countries the main
71:21 thing is to ensure that there is a
71:22 double opt-in so people can't be Auto
71:25 automatically subscribe to SMS otherwise
71:27 they can technically Su you so you can
71:29 add this you also want to make sure that
71:31 your um terms and conditions and your
71:33 privacy policy is set up correctly
71:35 postcript will actually support you with
71:37 this so you can actually just reach out
71:38 to them um and get it set up so I'm just
71:41 going to add this sales Channel and show
71:42 you exactly how to set up SMS now we're
71:45 going to show you email marketing in a
71:47 second and SMS in a second because both
71:49 of them are essential to ensuring that
71:53 you're getting as much money from from
71:55 the traffic that you're driving to your
71:57 website there's no point pouring water
71:59 into a leaky bucket you want to optimize
72:01 it as much as possible so you can go
72:02 through the welcome series for uh
72:04 postcript then they actually prompt you
72:07 to understand the the compliant if you
72:09 don't go through this step they might
72:11 actually not appr proove you so go
72:13 through all of that process so to do
72:15 this you can just copy this to your
72:16 clipboard and click update your terms of
72:19 service it'll take you to that legal
72:20 panel that we've talked about before
72:23 this under advertising now obviously I'm
72:25 rushing this through this there's lots
72:27 of things that need to be updated in
72:29 this privacy policy before it's
72:31 completely compliant and I do recommends
72:33 you can use a really cheap lawyer in
72:35 your area if you um yeah if you're
72:38 expecting a big amount of traffic you
72:40 should be completely compliant and click
72:42 continue here you can add your branding
72:44 if you want we could add our logo and we
72:46 want to change this shop name as well to
72:48 dog beer and you can see this needs to
72:50 be save 10 which is our discount code
72:53 before so people can subscribe get $10
72:55 off now we've got dog VI subscribe as
72:58 well so what happens now is you can
73:00 actually text this number to this number
73:02 and they'll actually subscribe to the
73:04 offer so you could put that in your
73:05 Instagram bio or something like that
73:08 this isn't what we're going to use
73:09 postcript for we're actually going to
73:11 use postcript for for a banon cart so
73:14 when people go to the cart add products
73:16 to their their cart go to check out but
73:18 then they don't they input their phone
73:20 number we're going to text them and
73:21 follow them up with a with a text
73:23 message so this is what this one is for
73:26 all of these other messages are a great
73:28 uh form of of marketing as well but we
73:31 don't need to set them up today we're
73:32 going to use email for that um
73:34 eventually I do recommend that you set
73:36 all of this stuff up just be really
73:39 considerate you know mobile is a very
73:41 intimate um thing you know you've got
73:44 all your data there it's a 90% open rate
73:46 you don't want to be spamming people and
73:47 annoying them with uh you know if they
73:50 just go to your website and randomly
73:51 bounce off or something like that so be
73:54 considerate now to build your mobile
73:56 list we've got a mobile popup which
73:59 we're going to talk about in a second
74:00 that's just where a popup comes in and
74:01 they can enter that their mobile um
74:04 we're going to turn all of this off at
74:06 this stage because we're only going to
74:07 be using it for abandoned cart um so I'm
74:10 goinge and turn all of this off we're
74:12 also going to be using that popup for an
74:14 email popup and show you how to do that
74:16 so I just will show you how to kind of
74:18 finalize the the messaging setup here
74:21 come over to messaging and down here
74:23 we've got automations and you can see
74:25 that there's already populated some
74:26 abandon cards it's actually active
74:28 because that's what we selected before
74:30 in the process and we can see that this
74:32 is the message that they're going to get
74:33 it's going to be customized their first
74:35 name with our uh store name um our 10%
74:38 discount coupon as well um so to edit
74:42 this all we need to do is click edit we
74:44 can just change this to save 10 which we
74:46 know is our discount code and we can
74:48 click save Automation and you can see
74:50 the preview down here
74:52 [Applause]
74:54 [Music]
75:00 so the next app that we need to install
75:01 is one of the most important things do
75:03 your Shopify store it's going to
75:05 increase your lifetime value so how much
75:07 people shop with you it's going to be
75:09 allow you to launch new products and
75:11 tell all of your customers I'm sure you
75:13 can guess what it is it's an email
75:15 marketing software so uh it's called
75:18 clavio so k l a v i y o and you can see
75:24 it's here it doesn't add that many good
75:25 reviews because it is a relatively
75:27 complex software but at this point in
75:30 time there is no better email marking
75:32 software from a segmentation point of
75:34 view segmentation is deciding what
75:36 audience sees what and I'm going to show
75:38 you exactly how to set up everything
75:40 that you need to be successful in your
75:41 early stages email marketing is a very
75:44 very big topic and there's a ton of
75:46 things that you can do with it but I
75:48 suggest just staying really focused on
75:50 these core things that are about to
75:51 teach you now you can set up your sender
75:54 name so this will be dog
75:56 via beds now this Senter email address
75:59 is where it's really important you have
76:01 a custom branded email to send from
76:04 because otherwise if it's coming from a
76:05 Gmail it will probably go into their
76:07 spam folder email marketing is all about
76:10 ensuring deliverability and less people
76:13 marking your as spam to create your
76:15 custom email address there's a few ways
76:17 that you can do it with Shopify when you
76:19 set up your uh domain they will create
76:22 this info at do. and then it will
76:25 actually forward to your other email
76:27 that you use to to set up the Shopify
76:29 account or you can click switch to email
76:32 hosting so you can actually set up with
76:34 Gite and it will allow you to manage all
76:37 of your emails actually in Gmail from a
76:40 custom branded account if you're going
76:41 to use this I suggest using G suite and
76:44 setting it up and having an email like
76:46 support
76:47 at. you can also use something like Dy
76:51 dog.co to create a personalized response
76:54 then you can put this email in here so
76:56 it just be Davy
77:00 dog.co now I haven't actually set this
77:02 up but once you have any replies to the
77:05 emails that you're sending it from at
77:06 davy. dog. code will actually come back
77:09 to you in that Gmail account so you can
77:11 click through all these prompts as you
77:13 can see clavio does have SMS marketing
77:15 but I suggest using a different service
77:17 at this stage I just don't think clavo
77:19 is there yet and this should just bring
77:20 you to the clayo dashboard now you can
77:23 follow these prompts here because we do
77:25 need to set up these things so we've got
77:27 grow your list with a sign up for this
77:28 is what I was referencing earlier where
77:30 we have a popup that people can enter in
77:33 that that email so we can click create
77:35 sign up form and they have multiple
77:37 options here you can pick one that's
77:38 custom branded for you but I think we're
77:41 just going to go with this one which is
77:44 a basic email sign up
77:46 form we can
77:49 go the name that's internal use only now
77:52 this is important this email subscriber
77:54 list this is is lists are certain
77:57 characteristics of people so you might
77:59 have a list of people that are in a
78:02 certain region they're just in Australia
78:04 or they've signed up through a certain
78:07 popup on your website or maybe they've
78:09 signed up in a completely different area
78:12 like they in store or something like
78:13 that so the lists are just like an
78:16 organizational tool for you and the
78:18 reason why it's important is when we set
78:20 up automation so when someone signs up
78:22 to a list they will get the certain
78:25 emails that we've set up for that list
78:27 so we can go into that in just a little
78:29 bit but we're just going to use the
78:31 newsletter the default uh list you will
78:33 have a a default lists actually in your
78:36 clavio account and click create form and
78:40 now we get a nice little preview here um
78:42 our discount is only 10% off this is the
78:45 discount that we set up earlier the main
78:47 purpose of this popup is to really just
78:50 get people to enter their email quickly
78:53 without too much thought so you do
78:55 really need an offer to entice them do
78:57 want it to be consistent with your
78:58 branding as well so we're going to
79:00 replace this image upload an image that
79:03 you're using try this one and we're
79:05 going to change the colors to be more in
79:07 line with our brand colors and as always
79:09 I recommend you clicking the mobile
79:11 version and making sure it looks okay
79:13 with mobile the other thing that we need
79:14 to also ensure that we do with the popup
79:18 is make sure that the discount code
79:20 isn't um the discount code is actually
79:23 shown after they enter their their email
79:25 because we don't want customers having
79:27 to wait you know 2 hours let's say that
79:29 that email gets blocked or something
79:31 like that to get the discount cuz
79:33 otherwise they're just going to lose
79:34 interest and not shop so to do this we
79:36 actually click these are the stages up
79:38 here of the the opin so there's the
79:40 email opin that's what we're on
79:42 currently and then there's the success
79:44 stage so this is what they're going to
79:45 be shown it's also really important to
79:47 change this image that would look really
79:49 really silly if that was a backpack so
79:51 we can say
79:52 success and then we can just change this
79:55 to use
79:57 code save
80:00 10 to save
80:03 10% off your tog bed and now we can
80:06 actually click act live up here and then
80:08 click publish and this should Now
80:12 activate actually on our Shopify store
80:14 the integration is really good with
80:16 Shopify and clayo so now the main thing
80:18 to realize is this uh app embeds needs
80:21 to be on and you actually need to click
80:23 save just make sure you click save and
80:25 that should activate it we can come back
80:27 here verify installation and that is now
80:30 operational we should be able to come to
80:32 our website refresh
80:35 it and now the popups come up we can
80:38 test this just at
80:41 gmail.com click unlock offer and that's
80:44 now uh come through there so that's all
80:47 operational a few other things around
80:49 the popup that's important to understand
80:52 is we need this targeting and behavior
80:54 one of the
80:55 the main mistakes that I see people make
80:57 is show on page load like that's going
81:00 to pop up straight away and it can be
81:01 really intrusive for people we might
81:03 just want to show you know 5 or 10
81:06 seconds even after they enter the page
81:08 so it's not going to pop up straight
81:10 away we do want it on both desktop and
81:12 mobile and we can just click publish
81:15 changes there now that's all done we can
81:17 come back to clavo and understand where
81:20 those emails are going on the left hand
81:22 side here we've got campaigns now I'm
81:24 not to cover campaigns today that uh
81:27 because as a beginner you don't really
81:29 want to be creating too many campaigns
81:31 campaigns are good for creating you know
81:33 new product drops or something like that
81:36 but every time that you create an email
81:38 considering you are just a startup you
81:41 probably want to get as much leverage
81:43 from that email as possible so every
81:44 single campaign you create you can
81:46 probably just put that in this section
81:49 here which is called flows flows are are
81:52 automated so rather than just sending
81:54 one email that one email to the list
81:56 that you currently have at that time
81:58 every single email subscriber that you
82:00 get over the period is going to get
82:02 these email so you just get a lot more
82:04 out of out of your work so you can see
82:06 we've got these um automatic emails
82:08 these are all the basic ones that you're
82:10 going to need and I do recommend setting
82:12 up most of them so we're going to set up
82:13 a welcome series we're going to set up
82:15 an abandon car browser banon is less
82:19 important um but I do recommend setting
82:21 setting it up as well a customer thank
82:23 you is after purchase after the person
82:25 has purchased they will get an email and
82:28 I do recommend setting that up as well
82:30 um the product review SLC cross sale I
82:33 think uh you probably don't need to set
82:35 that one up purely because you're going
82:37 to set up a customer thank you email
82:39 chain and you can sell your products and
82:41 ask for reviews within that um email and
82:45 then customer winback uh as well can
82:47 also be handled in the welcome series
82:49 and if that's if that's a little bit
82:50 confusing I'm going to I'm going to show
82:52 you how to do it um so going to go ahead
82:55 and click get started with the uh with a
82:58 welcome series email and now you can see
83:01 here when I click this we've got these
83:03 lists that we just uh set up in the
83:05 popup before this welcome series needs
83:08 to match the popup list that you've
83:11 selected I selected newsletter so I'm
83:13 just going to click continue there this
83:15 means that every time people go to your
83:17 website and fill out that popup form
83:20 they are going to get these series of
83:22 emails so to read this we've got the
83:24 trigger this is the action when they
83:27 subscribe to the newsletter list through
83:29 the popup they're going to get this
83:31 welcome series email one they're going
83:33 to wait 3 days they're going to get the
83:34 welcome email Series 2 and then wait 4
83:37 days and welcome email Series 3 that's
83:39 how you read this all of these emails
83:42 are in draft so until you change this to
83:45 live they're not going to automatically
83:47 send then on the left hand side you've
83:49 got all of your analytics as well which
83:51 you're most definitely going to be uh
83:53 looking at so to change one of these
83:55 emails all we need to do is click here
83:58 and click edit now this first section is
83:59 where you're going to change the subject
84:01 line so it's remember customers are
84:04 expecting their 10% discount code here
84:07 so it would be like your code is
84:09 attached and then we can add a preview
84:11 text save 10 for 10% off and the sender
84:16 name's fine sender email is also fine
84:18 and then we can click edit email to
84:21 actually edit the design and this is
84:23 where we can edit the design make it on
84:25 brand remember if a customer gets an
84:27 email like this they're instantly going
84:29 to think that you're a scam and they're
84:30 not going to purchase from you so it
84:31 needs to make sure that there's a
84:33 consistent design so I will show you
84:34 exactly how to set up an email with this
84:36 drag and drop editor the main thing that
84:39 I recommend for all beginners is just
84:41 making sure that you have a really
84:42 really good template um to make sure
84:45 that you are copying something rather
84:48 than just trying to completely innovate
84:50 and create a brand new design simply
84:51 because when you're new you just need to
84:53 get you know you need to understand the
84:55 best practice and then you set it up and
84:57 you can iterate over time so to do to
85:00 find some good templates you can just go
85:02 to something like really good
85:04 emails just Google that and this website
85:07 has some great templates they might not
85:10 all be Drop Shipping but um you can just
85:13 copy one of these templates or you can
85:15 just copy what I'm going to do today
85:18 which is a pretty common setup with uh
85:20 with just a a massive feature image at
85:23 the top some text and then pushing to it
85:26 so welcome series email number one is
85:28 the first email that they're going to
85:30 get after signing up to the popup on our
85:31 website so we want to be offering them a
85:34 discount code maybe um some scarcity as
85:38 well um truthful scarcity then you're
85:41 also just wanting to sell the product
85:43 and educate them a little bit more the
85:44 truth is not many people read emails to
85:46 be honest they um kind of skim it at at
85:49 the most so it needs to be very very
85:51 digestible to edit the the thing um
85:55 we've got this section here where if we
85:57 click it's going to change the left
86:00 section where you can go into more
86:01 detail and and change it the other thing
86:03 is to know is it's a drag and drop which
86:05 is very convenient um so we're going to
86:08 first edit this image now I highly
86:11 recommend using canva to create any of
86:13 these images that I'm about to show you
86:16 um we can go and add We'll add the logo
86:20 first and then we can easily come over
86:23 here and change the sizing of this I'm
86:26 just going to go over here and click
86:27 fixed width and I'm just going to make
86:30 it a nice small logo so people know
86:33 exactly what I'm looking at I'm going to
86:34 Center
86:35 that so people are going to have some
86:38 trust there's a bit of branding there
86:39 I'm going to then upload a couple of
86:41 more images so you have kind of two
86:43 options if you want to add text you can
86:45 either add text through an image which
86:47 you've done on canva or you can type the
86:50 text it's important not to have just all
86:52 images and design everything everything
86:54 in canva because it can actually get
86:56 picked up on the spam filter um and some
86:59 people can actually have trouble viewing
87:00 it as well so a nice mixture of images
87:03 it's much easier design on things like
87:05 canva but you do want to add some text
87:07 so I'm also going to add a second image
87:10 just by dragging this over here browsing
87:13 it uploading another
87:19 image like so and you can see this uh
87:23 Blends quite nice ly so I've got some
87:25 text that I prepared
87:27 earlier you can copy this if you
87:30 like and I'm just going to delete all of
87:33 this
87:35 first and paste it and that's starting
87:38 to look pretty good now you can see this
87:40 name section here what you're going to
87:41 want to do is you're going to want to
87:44 change this to add personalization and
87:48 then you can just add the first
87:50 name and you can get rid of this and now
87:53 BAS basically it's these double um
87:55 brackets here and whatever's in in there
87:58 now the default means that if there
88:01 isn't the first name let's say they sign
88:02 up from the popup and you don't have
88:05 their first name that you don't have
88:07 that data this is what it's going to
88:09 default to so you need to fill that out
88:10 to something like hey there now if
88:13 you're wondering if this works you need
88:14 to make sure that you you check it I'm
88:16 just going to click preview and test
88:18 this profile here doesn't actually have
88:19 a first name it only has the email so
88:22 but this is how it's going to look and
88:23 you can even check out your mobile as
88:24 well because I've used that image it's
88:26 formatted quite nicely now we've got a
88:29 discount code here making them feel
88:31 quite special like it's a kind of unique
88:33 code um we obviously need to come back
88:35 into our theme and create this discount
88:38 so um we might just quickly create this
88:42 for 10%
88:45 off as we did before always check your
88:48 discount codes and make sure they're
88:51 functioning and I can click done there
88:54 now obviously this is quite a scrappy
88:56 email that I've just kind of put
88:57 together but you would want to spend a
88:59 lot more time on making it feel quite
89:01 professional you need to make sure that
89:03 there is an unsubscribed so this
89:04 template here while this is looking a
89:06 little bit ugly you do want to make sure
89:08 that you have it you can actually drag
89:10 it a little bit lower and also make the
89:14 style which to change kind of like the
89:16 background text and whatnot come back
89:18 here and you click Styles and now this
89:20 is all kind of like the master email
89:23 section and then you've got the template
89:24 background which is over here I don't
89:26 recommend you change that but if you
89:27 wanted to change just one section which
89:29 I do I just want to change this one I'm
89:31 going to change this to just a light
89:33 gray and so it's just a little bit less
89:36 intrusive there um one other thing that
89:38 you can do is you can add more buttons
89:41 just to get more of a clickthrough rate
89:42 make sure that people can shop your
89:44 website to do this we can just go Um
89:47 shop now is fine we want to try to keep
89:50 our colors relatively consistent so we
89:52 might just pick that orange you probably
89:54 want to follow your brand colors for
89:56 this
89:59 um but that's fine
90:03 there and we'll just grab our URL
90:07 here and for to make sure the button
90:10 working the URL just goes over here and
90:13 we can click save and exit so one thing
90:16 you'll notice here is my home address
90:18 please don't visit
90:21 me um one thing you'll notice here is
90:23 this Avo branding down here when you add
90:27 a payment plan to it you'll be able to
90:30 go into settings and remove that so
90:32 that's the only thing that's really ugly
90:34 there so I can click done now you're
90:37 wanting to set up three basic flows and
90:41 you can come just back to this flow
90:42 section you can see these down here a
90:44 banon cart is incredibly important some
90:46 best practices of banning card is again
90:49 using a discount code to there's these
90:52 Dynamic fields which I'll just quickly
90:54 show you where that you need to make
90:56 sure that your actual product is showing
91:00 on that so we can just click edit and
91:02 you can't see it
91:04 here but when I click edit email you
91:07 will be able to see that you've got this
91:10 product here that is exactly what you
91:12 need make sure that you keep that
91:14 because people are going to see the
91:17 exact product that they added to their
91:19 cart here it's clavo and Shopify
91:21 perfectly integrated so get that set up
91:24 and as I said you know look at
91:26 competitors look at the OD what we're
91:28 doing here to copy it and and that's
91:31 just the best practice the other thing
91:33 that we want to do is making sure we
91:35 want to get our brows abandonment flows
91:37 so what that is when people have signed
91:39 up via the clavio popup we actually have
91:42 their details from that point forward we
91:43 can actually see them going onto a
91:45 product page and then leaving that
91:47 product page and we'll actually be able
91:48 to send them an email so this is really
91:51 good for you know someone like the udie
91:53 because will come back another time and
91:55 shop and they they go and look at
91:57 something like uh pajama set or
92:00 something like that and we can actually
92:02 email them about that pajama set going
92:04 forward you definitely also want a
92:06 customer thank you flow this is an
92:08 opportunity to ask them for you can see
92:11 that there's a product review SLC cross
92:13 sale here but I use the customer thank
92:15 you flow just as one flow and I you can
92:17 ask people for a review you can try to
92:20 sell them a different product you can
92:22 try to sell them the same product at
92:23 another discount or something something
92:26 along those lines so really important
92:27 that you have all of these customer win
92:30 back is important but only probably
92:32 after you've uh focused on there's a lot
92:34 of other things I'd be focusing on
92:35 before the customer win back so set up
92:38 all of those flows and uh yeah you'll
92:41 you'll start getting a fair few
92:42 customers it's really important to have
92:44 email set up because if you're going to
92:45 be spending money on ads you need to
92:48 make sure that you're converting as many
92:50 of those customers because if you don't
92:52 do it your competitor is going to to do
92:54 it they're going to be able to spend
92:55 more on ads and they're going to out
92:56 compete you now if you found that all
92:58 too overwhelming and you just want a
92:59 really simple you know t-shirt to get
93:01 started and you don't want to invest
93:03 Lots into inventory then print on demand
93:06 could be an option for you print on
93:08 demand is where you use a app to stock a
93:12 product on your website and then as soon
93:14 as a customer buys the product on your
93:16 website the factory will print it so
93:19 let's say they're printing a smiley face
93:21 on a t-shirt they'll print it and then
93:23 ship it to directly to the customer and
93:24 you don't need to touch it at all to get
93:26 the best print on Demand app all you
93:29 need to do is go to the App Store and
93:31 write printful and you can just click
93:33 add app install the app so all you need
93:35 to do is sign up with your email address
93:38 and your name and this should
93:40 automatically connect now we're in the
93:42 dashboard all we need to do is add a
93:44 product and you'll get a range of
93:45 options here so when you're in the
93:47 product section there's a few things to
93:49 take note of you've got your reviews
93:50 here and you've got your estimated
93:52 delivery time you've got some color
93:53 options and then this is the price that
93:56 it's going to cost you so if you're
93:57 going to sell a product this t-shirt for
94:00 $100 you're going to have about $99
94:03 profit there note the delivery time is 6
94:05 to 9 days often much much better than
94:08 what you're going to get for uh
94:10 delivering from China doing Drop
94:12 Shipping this is why print on demand can
94:13 be quite attractive the reason for this
94:15 is I think printful has over 10 almost
94:18 up to 20 warehouses um so if this isn't
94:21 getting dispatched from Australia
94:23 localized Warehouse in Australia it's
94:25 probably very very close to it so that's
94:27 one of the main benefits um to customize
94:29 a product let's say we're going to do a
94:32 nice tote bag for our pet
94:35 store I think printful is definitely is
94:37 the best option for any kind of clothing
94:39 um brand if that's what you're going to
94:41 launch there isn't a huge amount of pet
94:42 products but um they are expanding it so
94:45 all we have to do is add our logo and
94:48 upload it and we should get a preview
94:50 now there is affiliate link for printful
94:52 in the description so now to add the
94:54 logo we can just click apply now print
94:56 on demand can work really really well if
94:58 you've got a bit of a community already
95:01 and you're trying to you know let's say
95:02 you've got a YouTube channel or you've
95:04 got a Tik Tok growing print on demand
95:06 can just be a great way to monetize that
95:08 audience just a little bit better so now
95:10 we've added this logo um we can select
95:12 the colors that we're going to sell it
95:14 in so White's going to look a little bit
95:16 better for that logo um and then we can
95:18 just go to the design as well we can
95:20 click here for product info to
95:22 understand a little bit more about the
95:23 product info so we could add this to the
95:25 description in our store but let's say
95:27 we're all happy with that we can go
95:29 proceed to Media so that's the back of
95:31 the bag so we could actually make it
95:33 both sided if we wanted but we can see
95:35 that this is the front here and this is
95:37 what it's going to look like so so
95:38 that's pretty much all you need to know
95:40 proceed to details you can customize all
95:42 of the copy proceed to pricing now we're
95:44 on pricing we can do the retail price
95:46 let's say we're going to sell this for
95:47 $49 we can see how much revenue this is
95:50 going to bring into our store this is
95:51 how much we need to pay printful for
95:53 every single single order so someone
95:55 will come to our store buy it from our
95:57 store Shopify they won't go to printful
96:00 this order will get sent to printful to
96:02 fulfill and then we will just get sent
96:04 this money then we can just click submit
96:06 to store and this should integrate and
96:09 add across to our store so now we have
96:12 this product in printful we can actually
96:14 come back to our store click on products
96:16 and it should be sitting right
96:18 here you can see that they've got a
96:20 large amount of stock this is because
96:21 it's print on demand you don't need to
96:23 pay for that stock until you sell the
96:25 product which is fantastic we can click
96:27 preview and we can see this is starting
96:29 to look quite nice so now we've set up
96:31 our Shopify site we've got our supplier
96:33 we've got our emails ready we can
96:35 actually start driving traffic to the
96:36 website now there's a lot of ways that
96:39 you can start getting audiences to your
96:40 website and it really depends on your
96:43 skill set what you're wanting to grow in
96:46 and also it really depends on the
96:47 product there's something called Product
96:49 Channel fit some products that are viral
96:52 products lend themselves very well to
96:54 something called organic growth whereas
96:57 there's some products that work very
96:58 very well with paid growth the
97:01 difference between that is organic
97:02 growth is where you're just creating
97:04 really engaging content and because it's
97:06 so
97:07 engaging Instagram and Facebook and Tik
97:10 Tok will allow virality for that content
97:13 because it's it's engaging the audiences
97:16 on those platforms so therefore it's you
97:18 know making them more money through ad
97:19 Revenue the other thing is paid ads
97:22 where you're B basically going into a
97:24 bidding war against every single
97:26 Advertiser on the platform the more
97:29 relative that add to um the audience is
97:33 the more that you'll be competing with
97:35 that person with with similar Brands and
97:38 you just need to make sure that your ad
97:40 is converts at at the highest amount and
97:43 doesn't feel too spammy those kind of
97:45 things will allow you to spend more on
97:48 Advertising you'll get cheaper customer
97:50 acquisition costs and you can just have
97:52 a little bit of net profit left over so
97:54 if that sounds a little bit confronting
97:56 we're going to go into some examples now
97:58 we're going to set up ads I'm also going
98:00 to cover organic as well so we can um
98:02 you know I've had plenty of uh viral Tik
98:05 toks as well so I can break down exactly
98:07 how to create them if you don't have any
98:09 budget for advertising then we've got
98:11 you
98:12 [Music]
98:20 covered create a um Facebook ad account
98:23 you can come into preferences and click
98:26 set up Facebook pixel here I don't
98:28 recommend doing that from the I do think
98:30 you should just come to business.
98:32 face.com and you can just log in to your
98:35 Facebook here click log in with Facebook
98:38 and you'll create a new business manager
98:41 for your account so a business manager
98:43 you might notice that you could have
98:45 created an ad account in your personal
98:47 name but it is very very wise to set up
98:50 a business manager there's plenty of
98:51 other features and it's just a little
98:53 bit easier to use as well to come when
98:56 you're in your business manager you
98:57 should be able to just click add
98:58 accounts and you can create a new ad
99:01 account here so I'm just going to do
99:03 that and you just want to name it like
99:07 your store so this is St Au store time
99:11 zone make sure you set this to the time
99:13 zone in in my opinion should set this to
99:15 the time zone that you're advertising to
99:17 so if you're selling in the United
99:18 States and you live in Australia you
99:20 should still set this to the United
99:21 States but because I'm selling in
99:24 Australia there and it should Auto
99:26 Select the currency I think that that
99:28 the time zone is or maybe that's based
99:30 on location but make sure you um select
99:33 the currency that you're um going to be
99:35 selling in as well so now we have an ad
99:37 account within our business manager The
99:39 Next Step that we need to do is link
99:42 this uh this ad account and this
99:44 business manager to our Shopify store so
99:47 this is done through what's called a
99:48 pixel and you can just come back into
99:51 this section now and you can click set
99:52 up face Facebook because everything's
99:54 been set up in in Facebook it's uh you
99:57 should just be able to link both of the
99:59 two now and always with this technical
100:01 setup just make if you're getting stuck
100:04 you can you can either Google The Google
100:06 or YouTube the error name or you can
100:07 just Google or YouTube the thing like so
100:10 how to link Facebook with Shopify and
100:13 just sort the YouTube videos by most um
100:15 most recent as well just to get a really
100:17 upto-date thing CU these things they
100:20 always stay pretty similar but they can
100:21 just kind of change week to week
100:24 so I'm just going to add this app and it
100:26 should allow me to select login through
100:29 to my
100:30 Facebook so we start setup and now I can
100:33 just connect my Facebook so you can see
100:36 I've linked my Facebook now so the next
100:38 thing that we need to add is is called a
100:40 page so we need two things we need an
100:42 add account and we need a page so I can
100:44 just click on pages here and it's pretty
100:47 much exactly like setting up the uh ad
100:50 account so I can just do dog via and
100:53 just set up a new brand should be pet
100:56 supplies create page and now we've got
100:59 that page we can go back to Shopify and
101:01 Link the accounts and I can just select
101:04 this page the one that we set up before
101:06 now you can click maximum here but you
101:08 do need to make sure that the Privacy
101:10 policies reflect the uh requirements for
101:14 this this is referred to as cppy this
101:16 setup here so if you ever hear someone
101:18 saying that let just copy so now we have
101:21 two options we can create the new pixel
101:22 Within Shopify or we can just go back to
101:24 our ads manager and exactly like we
101:26 created the page and AD account we can
101:28 come here to data sources and click
101:30 pixels and create a new pixel and I'm
101:33 just going to call it dog VI pixel and
101:35 that should allow me to just kind of
101:37 refresh here and you can see our pixel
101:39 is there now so I can click connect and
101:41 agree to Facebook T server so let me
101:43 just explain what what we've just done
101:44 so we've got the paid basically like an
101:46 Instagram accounts or wherever someone
101:48 can search our name and they can go see
101:50 everything on our page this is also what
101:52 our ads will be running running through
101:54 so whatever you set up on your page you
101:56 know the logo the bio some of those
101:58 things will be available after people
102:00 click your ads then we've got an ad
102:02 account which is kind of going to be our
102:04 technical setup process where we upload
102:07 images all through that portal and then
102:09 we're going to spend a bit of budget
102:10 behind it and it's going to go out to
102:12 the world of Facebook then we've got our
102:14 pixel now the pixel is embedded on our
102:17 website that speaks back to the ad
102:20 account and every single action that
102:23 customer does on our website it speaks
102:25 back to their ad account account so it
102:27 can optimize accordingly so for example
102:29 if someone purchases our pixel is going
102:30 to pick up on that purchase and then
102:32 it's going to allow us to maybe retarget
102:33 them later on and all of those good
102:35 things so we've got all three of those
102:37 set up I can just submit this may take a
102:40 little while to get approved but in the
102:42 meantime we can most definitely come
102:43 into our ads manager over here and we
102:46 can start setting up our ads I'm going
102:47 to give you a quick walkr on how to set
102:49 up a Facebook campaign so what you can
102:52 see here is the three tabs we've got
102:54 campaigns adsets and ads campaign is
102:57 where we set our objective so um that
103:00 it'll make sense in a second what an
103:02 objective is adsets is where we target
103:05 audiences and then ads is actually the
103:08 creative and the copy that that all of
103:11 our customers are going to see so to
103:13 explain that a bit further we can just
103:15 create
103:16 one and we can click here so one thing
103:20 as a beginner you'll it's a really
103:23 confronting things setting up Facebook
103:25 campaigns because there's always
103:26 recommendations there's going to be
103:28 change in settings all of those kind of
103:29 things change in best practice so it's
103:32 really important to um just understand
103:34 the basics initially and watch videos
103:36 like this so almost always we're going
103:39 to use um an auction auction campaign
103:43 for e-commerce we're also going to click
103:45 sales here all of these other options
103:48 will basically just be like setting
103:49 money on fire especially for e-commerce
103:51 so we're going to click sales
103:53 and we're going to name our campaign now
103:56 these naming all this naming stuff
103:58 doesn't actually affect the uh results
104:00 of your campaign it's purely an
104:02 organizational thing so we're just going
104:03 to do one
104:06 conversion and then we're going to do
104:08 adset we're just going to name this
104:10 broad this will all make sense in a
104:12 second it just add one and we can just
104:14 click continue and we're going to do a
104:15 manual sales campaign now if yours
104:17 doesn't look exactly like this it's okay
104:19 so one thing you might see is Advantage
104:21 campaign budget this is Facebook's
104:24 attempt at really just reducing the
104:26 amount of actions that's required for
104:29 The Advertiser over the time it's just
104:31 going to be kind of like a set and
104:32 forget kind of strategy uh for Facebook
104:35 ads and that's what they've done here so
104:37 this will kind of remove the audience
104:40 selection and it'll use machine learning
104:43 um which right now we're not getting
104:46 good results on this however over time
104:48 it may improve I just want to set up my
104:50 manual campaign from the get-go so I
104:52 have complete control so you can ignore
104:55 all of this category section all of this
104:58 uh creating AB test when you get a bit
105:00 more advanced you can use that but right
105:02 now you don't need to and we've got
105:05 website
105:06 here and we've got the name that we put
105:09 in before the other thing we've got over
105:11 here is this audience definition which
105:13 shows how many people that you're
105:14 actually targeting CU remember the adset
105:17 level where we're at now we've just gone
105:18 from the campaign to the adset level um
105:21 it's going to you know it we need to
105:23 make sure that we have a good audience
105:25 selected and this is based on a couple
105:27 of the settings down here so one thing
105:29 you will need to click is this pixel
105:31 here and you can see this pixel down
105:33 here that dog via pixel I'm going to
105:35 select that cuz that's the one on our
105:37 website if you want to check what is on
105:40 your website there's a couple of ways
105:41 you can do that you can actually come to
105:44 uh your website and then you can just
105:46 click on this thing called a pixel
105:47 helper this is just a Chrome extension
105:49 just Google uh meta pixel Helper and it
105:52 will pop up now you can just see this
105:54 pixel ID number here
105:56 1136 um so you can also see what actions
106:00 are happening so if we wanted to kind of
106:01 Click through here remember the pixel is
106:04 tracking what the person is doing on the
106:07 website so if I click this add to cart
106:09 here and I've added that item to the
106:10 cart you can see it this pixel has now
106:13 fired from an ad cart if that's a little
106:16 bit confronting the main thing is just
106:18 making sure that this pixel is the one
106:20 that's on your
106:21 website so the next uh section is pretty
106:25 important as well so misinformation out
106:29 there around what is the best practice
106:31 to do for uh for e-commerce initially
106:34 when you're starting out so Facebook was
106:36 really pushing people to get as much
106:38 data for the objective as possible so
106:40 therefore they were telling you to do
106:42 something like add to cart because a lot
106:43 more people are going to add to cut than
106:45 purchase it's just earlier in the sales
106:47 process but from experience spending
106:50 over $30 million on Facebook I highly
106:53 recommend just ignoring the ad to cart
106:55 initially even if you're just validating
106:57 a product or getting starting to get
106:59 into Drop Shipping just go straight to
107:00 purchase and uh focus on that because I
107:03 feel like you get a much better audience
107:05 and you get a higher return on
107:07 investment so we've got this daily
107:09 budget here this is also important when
107:11 you're just starting out let's say this
107:13 is the very first Shopify store you've
107:15 ever set up and you're really really
107:17 confused I highly recommend just doing
107:19 something like $5 a day now that's
107:21 because your there's a good chance that
107:24 you're not going to get this right
107:25 you're going to leave a password on the
107:26 storefront you're going to not have the
107:28 shipping settings right even though
107:29 we've been doing it really step by step
107:31 you're going to you know maybe not make
107:33 a great ad or your website needs better
107:35 designing so all of these things it's
107:37 part of the learning process you're
107:39 going to struggle with it you're going
107:40 to constantly Tinker you're going to get
107:42 advice on the website you're going to
107:43 send it to your friends and family and
107:44 it's just slowly going to get better and
107:46 better so you don't want if you had $100
107:49 to start this business you don't want to
107:50 spend all you know you don't want to
107:53 spend $20 a day cuz you got 5 days of
107:54 budget so you really just want to keep
107:56 it low initially as you keep tinkering
107:58 until you get that first magical sale
108:01 the SK start date which we wanted to
108:02 schedule instantly then the next thing
108:05 is quite important as well we've got an
108:06 audience so the audience definition as I
108:10 showed over here this shows the size so
108:12 as soon as we start narrowing or
108:13 broadening these filters in here this
108:16 thing will change over here so we've got
108:19 custom audiences so what custom
108:21 audiences are are audience that you
108:23 create yourself based on the pixel
108:25 activity on the website so you could
108:27 create a a custom audience on every
108:30 single website visitor that has gone to
108:31 your site over the past 100 days you
108:34 could create that or let's say you want
108:37 to create an audience that only the
108:39 person that has seen my blue dog beds
108:42 and then I can show them the pink dog
108:43 beds they're the kind of custom
108:44 audiences that you can start thinking
108:46 about um to create a custom audience you
108:48 can click create new and click there now
108:52 look like audiences is when you have a
108:55 set of audience let's take the website
108:57 traffic on the past 100 days meta or
109:00 Facebook will actually create a group of
109:03 people that fits that profile maybe
109:04 they're all like dogs maybe they're all
109:06 based in certain city they they compile
109:08 all of the data and they'll get an
109:10 audience for you to Target so look likes
109:12 can be very very effective but what I do
109:14 always recommend when you're just
109:15 getting started out especially targeting
109:18 a country like Australia where there's
109:19 only 17 million people to Target which
109:22 is a great audience size you can see
109:24 it's green there it's fairly Broad and
109:27 that's why I've named it broad for us up
109:29 here but if you wanted to you know maybe
109:32 Target the United States if I show you
109:34 what happens
109:37 here it can get quite
109:40 large so after doing that you can see
109:42 that there's 200 million people so that
109:45 is um obviously 10 times higher and I
109:48 think that if you're only spending $5 a
109:51 day at that audience size you may have
109:53 some troubles getting some early
109:55 purchases and you might want to try to
109:56 narrow it down to narrow it down what
109:58 you need to use is this detailed
110:00 targeting and this is where interests
110:02 come into come into play so we can do
110:04 something like pet and you you got all
110:06 of these pet options here maybe we want
110:08 to do pet adoption uh maybe Petco and we
110:11 can test all of those one good tip is to
110:13 not just Target things that are directly
110:16 in your Niche like the segmentation it
110:20 could even be something like Zara we can
110:22 Target Zara retailer that'll narrow this
110:25 audience down to something like 29
110:26 million which is fantastic that's kind
110:28 of where we want it at and we can test
110:31 that as well so just write a bunch of
110:33 random things down and do a bunch of
110:35 testing which I'm going to show you how
110:36 to do in a second um and find the best
110:39 audiences for you but if you're just
110:41 targeting a a country with about 50
110:44 million population or a bit less like
110:46 Australia then you can just go ahead and
110:48 just leave it broad so when we come down
110:50 to placements we've got two options here
110:52 we can use manual placements which
110:54 allows us to decide where we're pushing
110:56 it let me just explain some of those
110:58 Facebook is naturally on Facebook
111:00 Instagram I think you understand with
111:02 that so you can click manual placement
111:03 you can place it on all of um Facebook's
111:06 kind of assets and some websites as well
111:08 or you can you can basically select and
111:11 deselect any type of ad um if you're
111:14 using like a a 9 by 16 which is like a
111:16 vertical format ad we can select this
111:18 one only and and run it there but the
111:21 truth is advantage plus is working
111:24 relatively well for us at the moment so
111:26 this is just going to place it wherever
111:27 using machine learning and I highly
111:30 recommend um you just kind of Select
111:31 that for placement at this stage and the
111:34 final section that we've got down here
111:35 is optimization for ad delivery you want
111:39 to keep this on conversion and there's
111:41 no point uh putting a cost per result
111:44 when you're just getting started because
111:45 you're not going to really know what
111:47 result you're chasing for um but that
111:49 when you get really Advanced you can
111:51 start working on this kind of stuff as
111:52 as well the attribution settings is a
111:55 little bit technical but worth
111:58 understanding so 7 days after clicking
112:00 or 1 day after viewing what that means
112:03 is that if someone clicks on this ad and
112:07 then they come back 5 days to the
112:08 website so that's within 7 Days of
112:11 clicking and they purchase it's going to
112:14 be attributed to this ad set or this ad
112:18 it's going to be attributed to that um
112:20 and that's the same after one day of
112:21 viewing the ad so rather than just
112:23 clicking on it if they just scroll past
112:24 it and they view it and then they buy
112:26 straight after then um it's going to get
112:29 attributed to this ad especially only on
112:32 Facebook so it may get attributed on
112:34 other platforms as well but uh this is
112:37 just interesting to know you can play
112:39 with one day um click and view if you've
112:43 got a product where it's really really
112:45 impulsive to purchase but I highly
112:47 recommend just staying with 7-Day click
112:50 or one day view initially so then we can
112:52 click next and you can see now we're on
112:54 the ad section rather than the adset
112:57 section so we're coming down um in here
113:00 and we've just got add one that's
113:01 absolutely fine so similar to how we
113:03 created our page and our ad account and
113:05 our pixel before you can actually create
113:07 an Instagram that way and you can also
113:09 create an Instagram obviously on your
113:11 phone link that up and uh go through
113:13 that way so you can click connect
113:14 account here it'll you've created on
113:17 your phone and you can just click there
113:19 and we can enter in an our account and
113:21 log in and should all connect up um
113:24 alternatively if you leave this blank
113:26 what it's going to run as is this
113:28 Facebook page this dog via Facebook page
113:30 it's going to run there but if it's on
113:32 Instagram they're not going to be able
113:33 to click on the ad on Instagram when
113:36 they click it it's not going to take
113:38 them anywhere so they're going to just
113:40 have to click on the ad to come to the
113:41 page so I do recommend setting up an
113:44 Instagram account so that they can click
113:45 and view your page and and you know
113:47 research your brand a little bit more
113:48 have a beautiful feed and that will make
113:51 customers more confident that they're
113:53 not buying from a scammy Drop Shipping
113:54 Store but they're buying from a a a
113:57 beautiful branded store with with a lot
113:59 of trust so the next step is we've got
114:01 to create our ad so we have a few
114:02 options here we can use an existing post
114:05 now this existing post will most likely
114:08 exist in our ad account already or on
114:10 our Facebook page this page that we set
114:12 up before now naturally we've just
114:14 created the page so and we created the
114:16 ad account so there's no existing post
114:18 so we're going to have to create a new
114:19 one um from scratch but the reason why I
114:23 wanted to teach you about use existing
114:24 post is because it will allow you to use
114:27 ads with a large amount of social proof
114:30 so social proof is where you get lots of
114:32 likes and comments and people saying I
114:34 love this product and you can get great
114:37 success by not creating brand new ads
114:40 all the time but just using existing ads
114:42 because they have the existing social
114:44 proof on it so we're going to keep
114:46 clicking through manual upload we've got
114:48 single image or video Carousel and we've
114:51 got collection as well so I'm going to
114:52 show you those formats let's start with
114:54 single image or video you can leave all
114:57 of this stuff set up and down here we
114:59 can basically upload our video so I've
115:01 got a couple of videos here I'm going to
115:03 start with this one so now we've
115:05 uploaded that video we can actually
115:07 preview how we want to look at it so
115:10 coming over here on this right hand side
115:12 there's all of the previews where it's
115:14 got a um where it's got an exclamation
115:17 point like this it's not going to be
115:18 able to run onto that platform but as
115:20 you can see videos can run on most
115:22 things especially when they're a a
115:24 square or a 4 to five ratio if you want
115:26 it to run you know on just Instagram
115:29 stories you can do a 9 by 16 ratio and
115:32 it will fill up the whole screen but
115:33 these four to five ratios are going to
115:36 fit um perfectly so you can see the ad
115:38 just running there which looks great now
115:40 the next step is we can add our text so
115:43 I've got some text set up here so much
115:45 like our email we're just going to keep
115:47 it spread out with your ad copy it is
115:50 very similar to email go to people that
115:52 are running great Facebook ads and check
115:54 out how they structured it you do need
115:56 to understand a copywriting framework as
115:58 well so the Ada principle or the past
116:01 principle that we talked about before is
116:03 a great one and just making sure you're
116:06 calling out your value proposition you
116:07 can also use tools like ad spy or Trend
116:10 rocker to go and see a bunch of ads at
116:13 once and get some ideas and just test it
116:15 pretty much so we've got this here and
116:18 we can
116:19 do BU your dog B
116:25 today we can justest something like that
116:28 and then we can basically say save
116:35 $20 so you can see the preview is down
116:38 the descriptions down here underneath
116:40 that that's the headline we got a
116:42 display URL which is down here we can
116:45 change the display Euro just
116:48 dog.co and we can do that actually
116:51 you're going to want to copy this
116:53 directly just to make sure it's
116:58 perfect and the display link is just
117:00 what's going to be forward facing as
117:02 well so you can shorten some links there
117:05 so the next thing we can skip all of
117:06 this languages instant experiences this
117:09 pixel is saying that it's not active but
117:11 uh once it get some traffic to it it
117:13 should pick up on it soon I've checked
117:15 that it's active and then we're just
117:17 going to click publish and that ad is
117:20 going to publish all three of so right
117:22 now this isn't running because there's
117:24 errors and we haven't uploaded anything
117:26 properly but once we click publish these
117:28 will all try to publish and after the ad
117:31 goes through a manual or automatic
117:34 review process what will happen is
117:36 either it'll get accepted or denied uh
117:39 for that so you can click publish now
117:41 because it's going to take a review
117:43 process so we can add some more adsets
117:45 to it the basic structure that you're
117:47 going to want to do is this structure
117:49 that you can see on screen right now so
117:51 it's a campaign
117:52 one ad set and you're going to use three
117:55 ads in that ad set the budget that you
117:58 set let's say the $5 budget before will
118:00 get automatically allocated towards the
118:03 three ads so it won't split evenly
118:06 across them it might initially just
118:07 because it's testing them and then
118:09 eventually it will go to the ad that is
118:11 the most engaging and the ad that thinks
118:14 that is going to get the best results
118:15 that you've set at the campaign
118:17 objective level so hopefully that all
118:19 makes sense so a common question is is
118:22 how much should I spend on
118:24 advertising and the truth is the more
118:27 you can spend on Advertising the better
118:29 you just need to make sure that you're
118:30 profitable spending on ads so initially
118:34 the amount that you're going to have to
118:35 spend before you know am I going to get
118:37 results it can vary typically I like to
118:39 see results very very quickly but it
118:43 really depends on the product that
118:45 you're selling if you're selling an a
118:47 $1,000 product you're naturally going to
118:49 have to spend more on that product
118:52 because it is harder to get customers
118:55 for that because people don't want to
118:56 spend $1,000 on an everyday basis so
118:58 that's just a generally speaking so if
119:01 I'm selling a $100 bed I might want to
119:03 make sure that I spent $50 when I'm
119:06 first testing things getting things warm
119:08 warming up or if I'm going to do a
119:11 $1,000 product I'll make sure that I
119:12 want to spend at least 400 500 before I
119:15 start really trying to change things up
119:17 now there's other metrics that we can
119:19 look at so how you can look at results
119:21 is you need to change these columns you
119:22 can see that there's a default amount of
119:24 columns set here performance you're
119:26 going to probably see um most thing
119:30 you're going to see probably the main
119:31 thing that you need which is this cost
119:33 per result which is the objective that
119:35 you set so it might be link clicks but
119:37 in our case it's purchases what I highly
119:40 recommend is customizing your columns so
119:42 you can look like a pro and set this up
119:45 accordingly so the way I do it is I want
119:49 to set up my column so it is exactly
119:53 what the customer is doing and going
119:56 through on the website so if you think
119:58 about that literally what it means is
120:00 they go to the website they add it to
120:02 cart they initiate the checkout they
120:04 purchase it and each step along the way
120:07 I want to see how many events there are
120:10 because that will allow me to identify
120:11 if there's any problems with certain
120:13 parts of the funnel but also allow me to
120:15 optimize accordingly and then the final
120:17 thing that we want is return on ad spend
120:20 which is a commonly used term which
120:22 means every $1 I spend how many dollars
120:24 do I get back if you get a three return
120:26 on ad spend you're getting $3 back and
120:30 that is really really important because
120:31 that's what we use to optimize our our
120:35 ad ad spend accordingly so I'm just
120:36 going to set that up for us we're going
120:38 to start with CPM now CPM is a bit
120:40 different this is CPM is a common term
120:42 for the cost per a th000 Impressions so
120:46 this generally indicates how much
120:47 Facebook is charging us to show people
120:50 it's just a good metric to know no idity
120:52 really optimizes the CPM well they
120:54 probably shouldn't be and then we can go
120:55 add to cut so we can go total and the
120:58 cost and then we can go initiate
121:01 checkout which is where they actually go
121:03 to the checkout cost and then we can go
121:07 purchase which is cost per purchase so
121:09 total total and cost and then we want
121:13 the total return on ad spend which is
121:15 also there we can save this as um
121:19 YouTube is awesome so we can save it as
121:22 a preset there and like this and we can
121:26 just click on it and we can see it down
121:28 there now so one thing you might want to
121:29 do now is just come across here and just
121:33 remove some of these things you don't
121:35 need that don't need
121:37 that we don't need results we can just
121:40 kind of delete all of these we can leave
121:43 that leave amount spend get rid of ends
121:47 and schedule and we can uncheck all of
121:49 these boxes cuz otherwise it's going to
121:51 get too long and then you're going to
121:53 click this save as preset and you're
121:55 going to name the preset and click apply
121:58 and then it's should set up all of those
122:02 things that we just talked about and we
122:04 can start optimizing accordingly so this
122:07 purchase return and AD spin is the main
122:08 one that we're looking at but all of
122:10 these metrics before it such as ad to
122:12 cart are going to have more data there
122:15 you're going to be able to predict
122:17 whether something is going to happen
122:19 early with adoc cards if it's getting 10
122:21 to carts uh versus something else that's
122:25 uh getting the same amount of budget but
122:26 it's only got two ad to carts then
122:28 chances are the return on ads spend is
122:30 going to be better for that main one it
122:32 might also have a lot more amount spent
122:35 on it let me just show you an example
122:37 because it is kind hard to understand
122:40 without looking at something so here is
122:42 another ad account so I'm in the ad
122:44 section here we can see the amount spent
122:48 then we've got all of these adsets down
122:51 here we can see the budget but this is
122:54 the return on ad spend so every dollar
122:56 that I put into this campaign I'm
122:58 getting 20 return on ads spend back
123:00 which is pretty good so considering that
123:02 return on ad spend is so high what I
123:05 would now do is I would consistently
123:07 increase my budget on this one let's say
123:10 compared to this one where I've only got
123:12 a 1 uh 36 return on ads Bend so that
123:17 might be you know I might be losing
123:18 money on that if I don't have a high
123:20 margin product so I need to uh spend a
123:24 bit less uh daily on this this product
123:28 so you can see that I'm spending quite
123:30 highly on this one
123:32 $117 don't know why it's 117 probably
123:34 should
123:35 be0 um but yeah you can do you can
123:39 basically increase the budget on this
123:41 one slowly and decrease the budget on
123:44 this one slowly until it kind of
123:45 corrects so one of the main things to
123:48 look at when you're optimizing your ad
123:50 account is just doing last 4 15 days
123:52 making sure that you've got a recent
123:55 time frame and you can yeah optimize
123:58 accordingly so it's a fairly new ad set
124:01 as I said before you're going to have
124:03 more um more of these metrics earlier
124:06 stage like add to carts than purchases
124:09 so you can kind of predict that you can
124:12 see that that but there is a correlation
124:14 you can see that there is $65 ad to
124:16 carts there when um and which is quite
124:20 expensive if it's taking $65 to get
124:22 someone to add to cut obviously the cost
124:24 per purchase is also going to be really
124:26 high and if it's only costing us $3 for
124:28 this ad set to add to cut and we're
124:30 getting um 19 return on ads spend there
124:33 so they they are correlated so you can
124:35 kind of predict your adsets performance
124:37 before you spend too much based on ad
124:39 carts or you can predict a based on cost
124:41 per purchase but I've done a fair few
124:43 videos on Facebook ads that I highly
124:45 recommend you go check out um just to
124:47 really break it down because it's not a
124:49 skill that you can kind of learn in a
124:50 day it's a skill that you can launch a
124:52 campaign in day one and just Tinker
124:55 around with it and learn a lot of about
124:57 the settings but it is something that
124:59 you need to continuously learn and it
125:01 might take you you know 5 to 10 hours to
125:04 even really understand um how to
125:07 consistently scare your campaigns just
125:09 keep the budgets low in the meantime and
125:11 focus on just good marketing now if you
125:13 wanted to hire an agency to do this for
125:15 you there are a few things that you need
125:17 to know from experience a lot of
125:19 agencies will just hire Juniors they
125:21 give them a a YouTube video like this or
125:24 maybe they've got their own internal uh
125:27 training programs and the junior isn't
125:29 going to be much better or isn't going
125:31 to Care nearly as much as you as a
125:34 single founder about your brand so if
125:36 you have enough time I and this is one
125:38 of the most important things for your
125:39 business Facebook ads is the sole reason
125:42 that my businesses are so big so it was
125:44 worth me learning um so I recommend you
125:47 get into it learn it scale up some
125:49 campaigns if not hire someone as a
125:52 consultant U maybe a freelancer and get
125:54 them to train you as you do it just so
125:57 you can get this one-on-one mentorship
125:58 with them but yeah I highly recommend
126:01 actually learning it yourself rather
126:03 than hiring an agency if you're looking
126:05 for a good agency I you know they're
126:08 very very difficult to find my main my
126:10 main advice with agencies is make sure
126:12 that if you've got someone that you are
126:15 very very comfortable with the account
126:17 rep on the account it's not about the
126:20 salesperson that converted you on to the
126:22 agency it's about how good at
126:23 communicating is the agent that's on
126:25 your account and how much attention are
126:28 they focusing on it so they're the main
126:29 things um if you want to keep an agency
126:32 accountable you can actually just select
126:34 all of these adsets and you can go view
126:37 history you can click see history just
126:39 on this right hand side and you'll be
126:41 able to see all of their work you can
126:43 see last time they logged on what what
126:45 did they change and you can start
126:47 studying this so you can actually learn
126:49 um what the person is doing and why
126:52 they're scaling and and just kind of
126:54 yeah learn by copying them I
126:56 [Music]
127:04 guess so now's a good time to talk about
127:06 creatives there's two types of creatives
127:08 that you could make to get traffic for
127:10 your business you can create creatives
127:12 for Facebook ads or paid platforms or
127:16 organic we're going to cover both before
127:18 we jump into the ad account and start
127:20 setting up campaigns we really need to
127:23 understand what makes a good creative
127:24 because if you don't have a good video
127:27 that converts users you're basically
127:30 going to be burning money you're going
127:32 to upload the video onto Facebook you're
127:34 going to put a budget and it's not going
127:36 to get any sales this is because
127:38 Facebook is an auction you're going to
127:39 be competing against all your other
127:41 competitors selling a similar product or
127:43 something of interest to that audience
127:46 so you need to make sure that it's very
127:47 very captivating it fits into the
127:49 Facebook feed and ends up getting
127:51 conversions as well to do that I think
127:53 the best place to start if you're new is
127:55 going to competitor like everything just
127:57 kind of learning from them what's
127:59 working for them it doesn't need to be a
128:00 direct competitor you can look at
128:02 similar brands in a a similar Niche or
128:05 for sorry for our example the pet Niche
128:07 or you can just go to other really great
128:08 brands on direct to Consumer e-commerce
128:11 like the Udi so for today's video I'm
128:13 going to show you a really simple
128:14 framework about how you can do this
128:16 competitor research that will end up
128:18 allowing you to create amazing Facebook
128:20 ads so going to create a new Doc that
128:23 we're going to put some screenshots in
128:25 just going to call it Facebook ad
128:28 research now the next thing you need to
128:30 get really comfortable using it is a
128:32 free tool it's called the Facebook ads
128:34 Library so we're just going to come into
128:35 Facebook ads Library you can just Google
128:37 it you don't even need a Facebook
128:39 account to access this you can use other
128:42 tools out there that show Facebook ads
128:45 but this is free and pretty easy to use
128:47 you're just going to select all here um
128:50 because some Brands will be just
128:51 Marketing in other countries and you're
128:52 going to click all ads then you can go
128:55 to any competitor so um a competitor for
128:59 this product is sash beds so we can just
129:02 click on the advertiser now we have all
129:05 of the ads that this brand is currently
129:07 running and we've also got um some of
129:10 their ads that they've actually turned
129:11 off sometimes show but um this doesn't
129:14 have have too much so now we're in here
129:16 what are we looking for we're trying to
129:18 get as much research as possible so that
129:20 we can you know we're not copying it
129:21 directly you can't do that one it's not
129:23 going to work and two that legally you
129:25 shouldn't be doing that so we're just
129:27 trying to get inspiration around what's
129:30 working now we're looking at things like
129:32 their thumbnail as well so this is the
129:34 thumbnail um this is what people are
129:37 seeing before they click play so if they
129:38 don't have auto play on that's what's
129:40 going to be shown we're looking at their
129:42 copy as well we're also looking at
129:44 things like their PAC of video their use
129:46 of transitions their use of text and
129:48 also their key shots as well so I like
129:51 to break these down into two things so
129:53 we've got copy and we've got key shots
129:55 and now you can get as formulaic about
129:58 this as you really want but I like to
130:00 just get a big database of of
130:03 screenshots so the older the ad is
130:05 running generally you can assume the
130:07 more money it's making because it's
130:08 performing really well and they're
130:09 running it over time so we can just
130:11 let's grab a little bit of copy
130:13 inspiration there um we'll grab this and
130:16 we've also got the headlines here as
130:18 well so we can grab the
130:19 headline just really start pulling some
130:23 inspiration now for this copy you can
130:25 see that they've got um they're using
130:27 bulleted points which is really easy to
130:30 to digest you can see their main points
130:32 uh around anxiety um does not flatten
130:35 over time that's probably a customer
130:37 complaint that's happening the amount of
130:39 reviews and you know calling out the
130:41 where the customer base in Australia so
130:43 these are the kind of things that you
130:44 need to start noting most Facebook ads
130:47 are set up with a hook so the first 3
130:49 seconds really needs to captivate people
130:51 stop them in the feed then there's the
130:53 problem and the solution so talking
130:55 about why they need the product then
130:57 they'll generally add some social proof
130:59 as well that can be done in the copy but
131:01 it can also be done in the video and
131:03 then there's a call to action as well so
131:05 when we're looking at Key shots we
131:06 really want to make sure that we have a
131:07 range of key shots that kind of support
131:09 that narrative or we can kind of call
131:12 that out with a text overlay or you know
131:14 even in the the video itself so someone
131:17 you you might have a model that's saying
131:19 um this is it you ever have an anxious
131:22 dog uh this bed has high rims to help
131:26 anxiety that's the problem solution and
131:27 then uh at the end it could be a hook
131:30 the next thing we can do is actually
131:32 just play this
131:35 ad and I don't think it as
131:37 audio it just has music over
131:41 it no real text Bas you can see this key
131:44 shot here the um this might be working
131:47 really
131:49 well so we'll grab this
131:53 one just some key
131:55 shots to think about touching the fur is
131:59 a really good
132:03 one grab that as
132:06 well and that dog curling up was a
132:09 really good shot as well it's really
132:11 just a good use case for the product
132:14 we've got another good ad here that's
132:16 been running um for a little
132:19 while so I'm going to grab this copy
132:22 again bulleted points very similar um
132:24 call outs but there's a couple of
132:26 different ones there that we can call
132:28 out visually or in our copy now you can
132:31 see the difference in this ad compared
132:32 to the first
132:35 one of a new B so we decided to get a a
132:38 sash bed cuz I'd seen such good things
132:39 online and of course he decided he
132:42 wanted to help unbox his bed so that's
132:44 what we did and he was so Keen to get on
132:46 to it we went with the extra large BL
132:48 clay bed because he's a big boy and as
132:50 soon as he laid down in it he was out
132:53 like a lot just look how soundly he's
132:55 sleeping here so the reason why that
132:58 adds a bit different is there's a a
132:59 voice overlay which kind of walks them
133:02 through the the visuals of the video so
133:05 that's a really really good way of doing
133:06 it the first video didn't have that I
133:08 think that that would probably perform a
133:10 little bit better so um that's good to
133:12 know all of the key shots were pretty
133:14 similar the only different key shot that
133:16 you've actually got there is them
133:18 actually cutting the Box open and the
133:20 logo with a thank you card so I'm going
133:22 to screenshot that one just to remind me
133:25 that that might be a good shot and you
133:28 can just start pulling this document
133:30 together from two or three competitors
133:32 to really give you the best shot list
133:34 for the day that you're shooting so now
133:36 you've got all of these shots that you
133:37 need how are you actually going to video
133:39 it on the day there's lots of solutions
133:41 here first of all there's lots of
133:42 services out there that you can actually
133:44 send this product to and they'll create
133:46 what's called user generated content
133:48 which is right now the best performing
133:51 format of content on Facebook because
133:53 people think it's native to the feed so
133:55 they stop and scrolling like it's a
133:56 friend posting a review it's got you
133:58 know honest comments around the product
134:01 and it's really people can build a lot
134:03 of trust that they think it's this is
134:05 exactly the experience that they're
134:06 going to get for the product so ugc is a
134:08 great way you can pay these uh agencies
134:11 you can just Google ugc Creator or you
134:13 know ask us in our community which ones
134:16 we're all using you'll send the product
134:18 it costs $100 to $400 depending on the
134:21 caliber of of agency that you're working
134:22 with and you'll get back a few creatives
134:24 they know all of these Frameworks you
134:26 can just give them the the shot list and
134:28 they'll make sure that they get it as
134:30 well but generally they're pretty good
134:32 marketers if you don't have that budget
134:34 you're going to have to shoot it
134:35 yourself and you can we've done this
134:37 multiple times on our YouTube channel
134:39 you get your iPhone you get a friend or
134:41 family this is how I shot cing blankets
134:42 and the udie which do millions in sales
134:45 now we filmed the product getting used
134:47 and I edited it myself in simple editing
134:50 program so so you've got Premier Pro and
134:52 Final Cut Pro which aren't exactly the
134:55 simplest tools to use but you can watch
134:57 a couple of YouTube tutorials if it
134:59 feels really overwhelming using some of
135:01 those editing softwares you can just
135:02 hire a simple editor on upwork and um
135:05 make sure you check out that they've
135:07 created Facebook ads before you're going
135:09 to still have to Baby them along the
135:11 process send them the footage give them
135:13 the copy that you want on it um give
135:15 them the format which is generally 4 to
135:18 5 ratio so that's the rectangle or you
135:20 can use 1:1 ratio which is square but 4
135:23 to 5 ratio Works a little bit better
135:25 because it's going to be larger in the
135:28 the Mobile screen as they're scrolling
135:29 down it's going to take more real estate
135:31 the other thing that is working really
135:32 well at the moment is 9x6 formats so
135:35 that's the Instagram story format um
135:38 that works because it goes on different
135:41 placements so it's going to be on your
135:42 Instagram story and those kind of things
135:44 um which is getting a little bit
135:46 Advanced for this tutorial but the 916s
135:49 in short do work
135:51 and you can use something like cap cut
135:53 or even the Tik Tok Editor to edit those
135:56 if you're comfortable in those to create
135:58 your ads download them then upload them
136:00 to your Facebook ads Library which we
136:02 will do
136:03 [Music]
136:10 now so let's say you've tried Facebook
136:13 ads before and you just couldn't get any
136:15 sales or that you just don't have any
136:17 money or budget to get started with
136:19 Facebook ads should you still give this
136:21 ago yes you can try organic social media
136:24 million doll brands have been started
136:25 purely of organic traffic and right now
136:27 it's never been more exciting to use
136:29 organic traffic because each platform is
136:31 starting to reward creators again every
136:34 single platform is allowing creators to
136:36 go viral whether it's Twitter Instagram
136:38 YouTube and it's just really really
136:40 exciting the main thing around organic
136:41 is getting a good content strategy and
136:43 just picking one platform to work with
136:46 so if you want to do YouTube long form
136:48 content you need to have a basic
136:50 understanding of the algorithm and how
136:51 the platform works so that you can get
136:53 organic views if you want to do
136:55 something like shorts like Instagram
136:57 reals YouTube shorts or Tik Tok all in
137:00 that vertical style content then you
137:02 need to really have a good content
137:04 strategy around that they have two very
137:06 very different things it might be the
137:07 fact that your product lends itself
137:09 better to one thing in our dog bed
137:12 example we've got um you know you could
137:14 be talking about anxiety in pets you
137:17 could do a long form video around how to
137:18 treat anxiety five five ways of treating
137:22 dogs with anxiety and you could
137:23 incorporate the bed into that the other
137:27 thing you could do is you could do
137:28 product reviews in the pet space and do
137:30 an Instagram reals for that do the green
137:32 screen with the the text copy on there
137:35 there's just so many ideas and like
137:37 everything in today's video it's really
137:39 important that you use competitors or
137:41 people in a similar Niche to build that
137:44 building block of knowledge of what is
137:46 working then tweak it and adjust it from
137:48 there so it's your style your format of
137:50 content content there's this great brand
137:52 at the moment called mini Katana that's
137:53 doing Millions tens of millions of
137:55 dollars in sales purely off YouTube
137:57 organic so it is possible it's about
137:59 consistency as well uploading every
138:01 single day constantly tinkering on your
138:04 video format again with a Facebook ads
138:07 it's all about that hook in that first 3
138:09 seconds you need to Captivate the
138:11 audience and then you want to try to
138:12 make it as viral as possible so sharable
138:15 you want people to be Instagram dming it
138:17 to each other so make it really
138:20 educational
138:21 entertaining or controversial and that
138:23 is the formula for virality of of
138:26 organic content you can shoot all of
138:28 that stuff yourself with your own
138:30 product and just build consistently over
138:32 time it's not a quick fix it's not Heap
138:34 scalable early on but you will get those
138:36 one or two sales here and there in the
138:38 pet space there's hundreds of brands
138:40 that are doing great organic social
138:41 media but one comes to mind is pet lab
138:44 Co and looking at their Tik Tok so we
138:47 can just come into
138:49 here and we can see this format here
138:52 they're you know uploading very very
138:53 frequently this video's got 10,000 what
138:56 we would do is we'll just come into here
138:58 and analyze it dog owner Edition are you
139:01 ready to be surprised pause this video
139:03 press du and blind react to it now put
139:06 your finger down so that was a duet so
139:09 you could adjust that accordingly now
139:11 this one's got 800,000 views that's
139:13 probably looks a bit
139:15 better I bought a $30 probiotic for my
139:19 itchy do
139:22 no longell so one thing to be cautious
139:25 of when you're looking at this is that
139:26 could be an ad as well they could be
139:27 putting budget behind it so that's why
139:29 it's got so many views so we're really
139:31 looking for like a Content format that
139:33 went viral that they can keep um that we
139:36 can keep replicating so you can see this
139:38 with this they've got a person that
139:41 seems to be constantly doing their
139:43 videos this is a great strategy this is
139:45 what we did at the udie it's um you know
139:47 people call her the udie girl now uh she
139:50 is constantly you know promoting our
139:52 products in different way and
139:53 capitalizing on these viral Trends so
139:56 this would be you as a single founder
139:57 you need to be the expert in your your
139:59 subject let's watch this video if you
140:01 didn't wash your dog's bowl today then
140:04 you need to was this you may not realize
140:07 it but not washing your dog dishes
140:09 regularly so you can see that lots of
140:13 people don't wash their dogs bowl and
140:15 that that obviously hooks them she's
140:18 educating the customer about you know
140:20 problem that can make your dog sick so
140:22 there's no reason why we couldn't do
140:24 this we could talk about the anxiety and
140:26 um start shooting just some iPhone
140:28 content like this and and grow some grow
140:30 some organic followers now one question
140:33 I always get is should I be doing
140:35 organic social media if my paid ads are
140:37 working let's say you're getting
140:38 Facebook to scale I think it's a great
140:40 Habit to get into it just takes a lot of
140:42 time that's the only thing you got to
140:43 weigh up it's a great Habit to get into
140:45 is because you're going to if you get a
140:47 viral video on any of these platforms
140:50 you can then and just upload them as a
140:51 Facebook ad a lot of the time the most
140:54 viral videos are the ones that provoke
140:55 the most emotion have the best hook and
140:58 therefore make great performing Facebook
141:00 ads so if you have the time or you can
141:02 invest in a organic media Creator then
141:05 it's definitely worth
141:08 [Music]
141:14 it so the next thing we're going to do
141:16 is set up Google analytics now Google
141:18 analytics is really important to set up
141:20 before we set up Google ads so all we're
141:22 going to do is Google analytics and open
141:25 it up so once you're on this screen just
141:27 click Start measuring and you can create
141:29 a new Google Analytics account I'm
141:31 already logged into my Gmail account so
141:33 just make sure you are as well and we
141:35 can click next and we got a property set
141:37 up here so we can call this just dog
141:39 beds Au change all of these details to
141:42 match you so the next thing we need to
141:44 do is make sure you click show Advance
141:46 option now there is a warning here that
141:48 1st of July 2023 um this will change to
141:52 ga4 so I'm just going to really go
141:54 quickly through this process because it
141:56 may change again but the truth is it
141:59 should be pretty similar so we create a
142:01 universal property as well so do
142:05 dog.com and we can click next select
142:07 these we can also just do shopping
142:10 select some of these options with best
142:12 matches click create accept the terms of
142:14 service and this should create the
142:16 Universal Property should also set up
142:18 the ga4 as well for easy migration we
142:22 can exit out of here so now just a quick
142:24 walk through you've got the site here
142:26 and then your properties here so the
142:28 next thing we can do is just click this
142:29 admin down here go into e-commerce
142:31 settings set up enable e-commerce click
142:34 save now all we need to do is copy the
142:37 code into Shopify so the next step is to
142:40 come into this property settings copy
142:42 and paste this tracking ID into your
142:45 Google analytics account click save and
142:48 then use enhanced e-commerce so the next
142:51 thing I'm going to teach you is how to
142:52 set up Google ads now Google ads you can
142:54 easily see Google ads by coming into
142:57 Google and just writing pet bed and you
142:59 can see all of these shopping ads up
143:01 here then you can also see these text
143:03 based ads as well these are all paid for
143:05 through Google shopping ads are an
143:08 extremely effective way of retargeting
143:11 as well as acquiring new customers so
143:14 really important you understand how to
143:15 do this so all we need to do is Click
143:17 apps and just write in Google now there
143:19 are multiple apps here such as this
143:21 Google shopping feed which I've used in
143:22 other tutorials this uh is is a great
143:25 app for providing your products to
143:28 Google but we're going to try this
143:29 Google channel despite the bad reviews I
143:32 think they're improving over time we can
143:34 just click add this is the official app
143:36 by Google and we can just click add
143:38 sales Channel once we're in here we can
143:39 just click connect Google account
143:41 connect our email address and click
143:43 allow I'm just going to remove the
143:45 password for my store so Google can see
143:48 it then we just need to confirm that
143:49 we've added our contact details to our
143:51 store now you need to make sure that you
143:53 do this properly because Google will
143:55 check and it they'll need to verify your
143:58 account so make sure you've got uh there
144:01 there is plenty of supporting documents
144:03 from Google around that such as your
144:05 privacy policy and you know how obvious
144:07 your contact details need to be so their
144:09 customers aren't getting scared so the
144:11 next step is we need to create a new
144:12 merchant account so we can just click
144:14 create new and we click connect next we
144:17 need to add our phone number next we can
144:18 manage our shipping settings if we
144:20 wanted here or we can just automatically
144:22 import it from uh Shopify which I do
144:24 recommend then we've got to select our
144:26 Target country the language accept the
144:28 terms and service and click connect so
144:30 the next steps is the products now need
144:32 to go through an approval process so
144:33 Google is going to check that you know
144:35 you're not selling live animals that
144:37 you've got your contact details all of
144:39 those kind of things so we can click
144:40 here and now we've got to create a new
144:42 Google ad account so I'm just going to
144:43 click create new and we can click
144:45 confirm billing this should open up
144:47 Google ads for us and we're officially
144:49 in our ads manager now this is very
144:50 similar to the business manager for
144:53 Facebook this is where you're going to
144:55 pretty much create all your campaigns so
144:57 I can click submit you can see our
144:58 merchant center and stuff is all pending
145:00 here which we've set up this used to be
145:02 very very complicated you needed to set
145:03 them up all individually and Link them
145:06 but this should be all good now so we
145:08 can come into Google ads so now we can
145:10 just come into ads google.com come into
145:13 our Google ad account that we set up and
145:15 we've got a very similar setup now
145:17 compared to our Facebook ad account to
145:19 create a campaign C all we need to do is
145:21 click this plus sign down here new
145:23 campaign and we want to drive sales now
145:25 the difference between website traffic
145:27 and sales is sales is going to start
145:29 reading data from the Shopify account so
145:32 you're going to get your return on ad
145:33 spend and it's going to really allow
145:35 Google to optimize better whereas if
145:38 you're just driving website traffic or
145:39 an agency says we're just going to drive
145:41 traffic chances are you're not going to
145:43 get results so really important that you
145:45 set this up properly we're going to
145:47 click get started now there's lots of
145:48 different options out there at the
145:50 moment for um Google so performance Max
145:52 is kind of their new push um kind of
145:55 like the Advantage Plus that we saw on
145:57 Facebook now I do highly recommend just
146:00 clicking shopping this is really one of
146:02 the most highest return on investment um
146:05 campaigns that you can set up now
146:07 there's no products added to this
146:09 because they're all in the approval
146:10 stage so I'm just going to keep showing
146:12 you exactly what to do we're going to
146:14 click performance Max and we're just
146:15 going to name this um Google shopping
146:19 just so I can show you how to finish the
146:21 setup now you do want to select
146:22 conversion value so you can set a Target
146:25 return on ad spend but I recommend just
146:27 leaving that for now and just monitoring
146:30 the budget daily and seeing how much
146:32 return you can actually get and then
146:34 you've also got customer acquisition
146:36 here as well which you can leave that
146:38 blank and just click next now we
146:40 definitely want to just click Australia
146:41 CU that's the only place that we've got
146:42 shipping options otherwise we're going
146:44 to burn money then the next steps we can
146:47 go next because this is a performance
146:49 Max campaign it's going to run ads where
146:52 it deems necessary so we've got all of
146:54 these placements here we've got Gmail
146:56 we've got the search which I talked
146:58 about we got display which is can be on
147:01 different websites you might have been
147:02 on like Forbes or something like that
147:04 and seen this website pop up then you've
147:06 also got discover as well so there's
147:09 plenty of different options where these
147:10 products are going to show up YouTube
147:12 you've probably seen this as well this
147:14 will have the dog bed in this section
147:16 and then the copy that we create um on
147:19 the left hand side so all we need to do
147:21 then is create a bunch of headlines so
147:23 we could say uh Australia's best dog bed
147:26 calm your pets anxiety we can also add
147:30 some long headlines so make sure that
147:32 you fill out all of this because
147:34 Google's going to optimize it
147:35 accordingly add some descriptions as
147:37 well so we might just grab shipped from
147:40 within Australia save
147:43 $10 and you can preview add then we got
147:46 call to action is automated which I
147:48 definitely recommend as well and we can
147:50 just click next now we just want to keep
147:52 the budget low initially click next
147:55 $10 we can review The Campaign and click
148:00 publish now you definitely need to go
148:02 deeper into Google ads I do recommend
148:04 for the initial setup because Google is
148:06 much more set and forget compared to
148:09 Facebook there is some tinkering in the
148:11 early stages but eventually the work
148:14 needed on um Google is more on a weekly
148:17 basis rather than a daily basis
148:18 especially for a new brand definitely
148:20 recommend you know if you can afford it
148:22 just getting an agency to set it up get
148:24 a cheap agency or or do our upwork
148:26 process to hire someone that's good at
148:28 ad uh Google ads they will set up all
148:31 the campaign you can start seeing some
148:33 results and then you know do some more
148:35 study on YouTube about the campaign
148:38 [Music]
148:46 structure so now we've gone through that
148:48 entire setup it's really important to
148:50 understand that you can actually hire
148:52 people every step of the way I always
148:54 recommend if you're just getting started
148:56 out to do everything yourself because
148:58 it'll allow you to understand what the
149:00 task is at hand so you can manage people
149:03 at a later date it's going to save costs
149:05 which allow you to spend that money on
149:07 marketing and product development so it
149:10 is good to learn those things early it
149:12 is also just good I think for the
149:14 mindset as well you need to be going
149:16 into business you should feel that you
149:18 have enough
149:20 perseverance and resilience to try all
149:23 of these things at least once learn what
149:25 you're good at learn what you're not
149:27 good at and then start delegating them
149:29 when you start making money so I'm going
149:31 to cover three main things of hiring
149:33 which we use to build our million dooll
149:36 companies we've got upwork which is
149:38 Freelancers we've got Twitter which is
149:41 just Outreach and finding really really
149:43 smart people and then we've also got
149:45 LinkedIn which is a more traditional
149:46 recruitment process so we're going to
149:49 cover upw work first which is if you're
149:51 just getting started it's probably going
149:52 to be the main thing that you use so
149:54 you're going to sign up for an upwork
149:56 account and enter all your credit card
149:58 details and your email then you're going
150:01 to come into this platform here so this
150:05 is the the portal where you can post a
150:07 job in my experience the best platform
150:09 to use to hire um really depends on the
150:12 role itself upwork specifically is
150:14 really good at getting creative people
150:16 where language doesn't really get in the
150:18 way of the end result simply because
150:20 English isn't the first language for a
150:22 lot of these people so it's completely
150:24 understandable so creative roles
150:26 providing that you hire the right person
150:28 and give them the right brief will work
150:30 out very well and and it's quite
150:32 affordable as well when you go into you
150:35 know even operational roles it can also
150:38 help you know building spreadsheets you
150:40 know data analysis those kind of things
150:41 they can also be really great there
150:44 Facebook ads is an interesting one I
150:46 think Facebook ads simply because it's
150:49 quite a
150:50 uh a rapidly evolving skill as well and
150:53 there's a lot of Pretenders and it's
150:55 also very very hard to validate whether
150:58 Talent is good before you get started
150:59 because there's no portfolios Facebook
151:02 ads you can you're going to struggle to
151:03 find a really good upwork um media buyer
151:07 and that's why I think as long as you
151:09 learn the basics which we've covered in
151:11 this video you are going to be able to
151:13 set up campaigns as good as a lot of
151:15 these people so um you're basically
151:18 paying these people to just navigate the
151:20 the ads manager and I think it's really
151:22 important considering these people are
151:23 in charge of your budget that you have a
151:25 strong control over it so Facebook
151:27 advertisers I think you're going to look
151:28 at more Twitter and Linkedin which we're
151:29 going to cover soon um the other thing
151:32 is where I think upb can be great is
151:34 really small code changes like
151:36 development uh or even you know bigger
151:39 website builds although they can get a
151:41 little bit clunky uh the websites
151:43 themselves so that gives you a rough
151:45 idea my advice is just trial and error
151:48 with all of these things so um analyze
151:51 the complexity of the role analyze how
151:53 much time you have to manage the person
151:56 because if you are hiring someone at you
151:59 know less than 10 USD an hour but you're
152:01 spending an extra 5 hours proofing their
152:04 work it's not going to be worth it you
152:05 just need to hire someone that is you
152:07 know closer to home and can do the job
152:10 at a better rate so these are the kind
152:11 of things that you'll learn probably if
152:13 I by failure I've I've failed a lot in
152:15 this kind of elements you know things
152:17 like logos and stuff no problem on
152:19 upwork uh or you can just use a logo
152:21 generator but anyway upwork I think um
152:25 what for the example today we're just
152:26 going to let's say we want to create the
152:29 the wireframes of our website so the
152:31 basic website design not coding it
152:33 because that's a different thing we've
152:34 got the website design so the basic
152:36 structure of our website so we would
152:39 post a job this will be a shorttime gig
152:41 because they're just designing that the
152:43 website for us and we're going to write
152:45 a title now the title is important you
152:47 need to kind of sell the the role itself
152:51 it's with all hiring doesn't matter if
152:53 it's on upwork or LinkedIn you need to
152:56 sell the candidate the best candidate I
152:58 want to want to work with the best
152:59 people um and the worst candidates that
153:03 have no roles are just going to work for
153:05 anyone so you need to make sure that you
153:06 you tick that end of the box so we're
153:09 going to say um
153:14 build High converting pet website design
153:21 for
153:22 Shopify so we're just going to um you
153:24 know make it quite uh all capitalized
153:27 and looking quite neat and we're just
153:29 going to do web design as the category
153:31 now we can select the popular skills now
153:33 this is just going to help us filter um
153:35 and pop up in front of the the right
153:37 people so we can just do Shopify uh we
153:40 want your U design probably I'm
153:43 surprised fig is not there anyway we can
153:46 just select a couple of these Shopify
153:48 templates
153:49 and that should be enough to get the
153:52 right people now estimating the scope of
153:55 work this is going to help again you
153:56 know give you give the the right people
153:58 there are some really high caliber
154:00 people on on upwork you know $200 $300
154:03 an hour so this will help you understand
154:06 that but we're just going to do medium
154:09 it's probably going to take 1 to 3
154:10 months intermediate and we can also say
154:13 that yeah we will be open to hiring them
154:15 fulltime now the budgets the budget's
154:19 probably less important when you're
154:20 first getting started out it they're not
154:22 going to hold you to this but it's just
154:24 going to tell the the candidate and what
154:27 kind of budget you're looking for so I
154:29 just suggest opening this up being quite
154:31 flexible because we're willing to pay
154:32 someone good that is going to be
154:33 efficient so $15 to $60 an hour for a
154:37 designer um and now this describe your
154:40 job is really really important again
154:42 what I said before you need to sell the
154:44 roll we are
154:47 building an
154:50 for our
154:53 portfolio of Shopify
154:56 Brands we are looking someone to join
155:01 our fast and Innovative team the main
155:06 thing with your job descriptions with
155:07 most is describing a little bit about
155:10 your company going into the role and
155:13 then going into you know past work or
155:15 requirements of the candidate on upwork
155:17 it's a little less formal so you can
155:19 just write this but if you're hiring on
155:21 another platform you're going to want to
155:23 make sure that you look at traditional
155:25 job templates because candidates in your
155:28 country or they're working at your
155:29 competitor down the street are going to
155:31 expect a more formal HR process but on
155:33 upwork it's a little bit more brief so
155:36 we're going to say
155:38 requirements so basically said building
155:40 a Shopify WF frame based on example
155:42 website provided ensure a minimal and
155:44 high converting design using best
155:46 practices deliver first draft within 2
155:48 weeks so that's the requirements and
155:51 then the one thing the candidate needs
155:52 to do is provide a portfolio of Shopify
155:54 designs if this was a more complex role
155:57 such as like a developer or something
155:59 like that we might need to um get them
156:01 to go through and provide their previous
156:04 uh credentials around you know passing
156:06 code tests or something like that or for
156:08 example like a customer service rep
156:10 might need to do a type test so the
156:12 amount of words that they can type per
156:14 minute um and we can you know say that
156:17 the candidate needs to provide this as
156:19 part of the application there's further
156:21 steps uh later on in this process that
156:23 we can use to vet our candidates but um
156:25 we'll provide the example website at a
156:27 later date um and we'll also be
156:30 providing them you know the Google Doc
156:33 of all of our photos and all of our
156:36 creatives so that they can actually
156:38 create the website so we can review this
156:39 job post now and you can see this here
156:42 now this is what I was talking about
156:44 before we've got these screening
156:46 questions so these screening questions
156:48 will just make the C make the applicant
156:52 just stop and have to answer some
156:53 questions you can vet you know their
156:55 English level here you can um you know
156:58 get them to make sure that they have
157:01 done one of these steps up here so we
157:03 can just do write your own question can
157:07 I please provide the link to your
157:13 portfolio and we can save that question
157:15 and we can write another one um what
157:18 design tools do you use and we can just
157:23 make sure that they answer those uh
157:25 appropriately there's also some
157:27 suggested um questions here which is
157:30 good for you and we can go to Advanced
157:33 questions now this is uh this is
157:35 optional and you can actually do a lot
157:37 of these later on but if you're hiring
157:39 someone that you really need amazing
157:42 English you can do Native fluent a lot
157:45 of the English is still quite broken but
157:47 you can um you know at least have a
157:49 conversation quite quite easy honestly
157:52 conversational it can get very very
157:54 difficult uh in my experience so I I
157:57 generally look at fluent or native um in
158:00 in English level so I'm just going to
158:03 leave that for now because I can do it
158:04 kind of later through the filters and
158:06 then the other thing that you do need to
158:08 know around is job post preferences so
158:11 you can select uh featuring the job
158:14 which just gets a lot more uh highle
158:16 talent coming through you can um post
158:18 that for free if you're a part of the
158:20 premium service for for upwork but I
158:22 don't think it's 100% necessary because
158:25 um in the next step you can actually
158:27 invite co-workers so I'm just going to
158:29 post this job and should immediately get
158:32 a list of people that you can actually
158:35 invite the job now this is where it's
158:37 really important upwork is quite good in
158:39 that it will have portfolios here now
158:42 you can click on this role let's go into
158:44 this one and the portfolios generally
158:47 should be down here and we can go on to
158:49 here and see some of their example
158:52 websites one thing I will say is
158:54 sometimes these portfolios aren't
158:57 actually accurate so they claim credit
158:59 for brands that they're not actually um
159:02 doing so just be aware of that that you
159:04 need to apply judgment just cuz they say
159:07 that they've done the AUD site don't
159:08 just believe them at face value so so
159:10 that design was pretty good so what what
159:12 I can do now from this is actually
159:15 invite this person and it will just send
159:17 a message to them and they can have a
159:18 look at it you can customize that
159:20 message if you really like the talent
159:22 but you know a lot of this talent
159:24 doesn't look too good so I'm just going
159:25 to go and show you the Cal B that you
159:27 can get by just going native or
159:29 bilingual now these people might um
159:32 might be in different countries
159:34 now and I can also just change the
159:36 filter to $30 to
159:40 $60 and we can go into someone like this
159:43 now worth noting this person is a a
159:45 developer as well so they wouldn't only
159:47 design the website cuz they ux designer
159:50 but they're also a developer so they
159:51 probably actually set it up for you as
159:54 well with website design you can just
159:56 get the wireframes done by a designer
159:58 which is what I recommend because
159:59 designers are good at design and then
160:00 you can just pay a developer to actually
160:02 roll it out so um we just spend you know
160:07 spend an hour or two hours going through
160:08 these and just inviting people that you
160:10 really like their portfolio so we can
160:12 see this is a Drop Shipping Store then
160:14 the next step is once we've got a
160:16 candidate in the chat that we like their
160:18 portfolio you you can provide them all
160:20 of the brief and make sure the main
160:22 thing is if you're doing like a set
160:24 project like a website design is get an
160:26 approximate amount of hours that it's
160:28 going to take to do the job um then once
160:31 you hire the person you can just click
160:32 hire you want to make sure that you are
160:36 um not allowing them to manually log
160:38 time initially until you build trust
160:40 with a person because this means that
160:42 upwork will screenshot their screen when
160:45 they're um charging hours to you and you
160:47 can track them really closely can also
160:49 limit their amount of hours so you could
160:51 just do 10 hours a week um to make sure
160:54 that it's within your budget and then
160:56 you can uh finally you know hire people
160:58 feel safe about uh how many hours
161:01 they're going to charge you so the job's
161:02 been live for about 5 minutes now so we
161:04 can actually come to this on our
161:05 dashboard and I'll just show you a few
161:07 more things to be aware of with um the
161:09 candidate so these are actually people
161:11 that have proposed it rather than you've
161:13 invited so the difference is the invited
161:15 Freelancers they might not even answer
161:17 that's why you've got to sell sell
161:18 yourself whereas these people are ready
161:20 to go they're going to be really
161:21 responsive there's a few metrics that
161:23 you can read here so first of all you've
161:25 got the country which is
161:26 self-explanatory you've got their hourly
161:27 rate how much money they've earned is
161:29 really important if they've earned a lot
161:31 of money on the platform and then they
161:34 have a high success rate that means that
161:36 they've worked a lot of lot of hours on
161:38 the platform and they're just always
161:40 delivering that's a great sign one way
161:43 to really be confident that you're not
161:45 going to get scammed on upwork cuz it
161:47 does exist on all of these platforms
161:49 forms is just making sure that they have
161:51 you know maybe over $5,000 earned and
161:54 with a good job success rate because
161:56 that upwork listing is actually really
161:57 valuable to them they will startop start
161:59 losing work if they lose that upwork
162:01 listing if they scam you in any kind of
162:03 way so that's just a little helpful tip
162:06 there you can use your filters here to
162:08 actually filter like success rate 90% up
162:11 and then also you know 100 plus hours
162:13 built and then you can start getting
162:15 people that you can feel can feel quite
162:17 confident are going to work um well so
162:20 you can see this person has earned
162:22 $200,000 on the platform with 100%
162:25 success rate so I'd definitely be having
162:26 a look at this you can come into here
162:28 he's provided um on on our one of our
162:32 questions which is please provide the
162:33 link of your portfolio he has um
162:36 included some links so he's listened to
162:38 the instructions which is really um
162:40 quite valuable you can come into here
162:42 and understand his Design Concepts
162:45 understand how functional the website is
162:47 looks okay this looks okay as well um
162:50 and you might want to give this guy you
162:52 know a a trial shot as well another
162:55 question I often get asked is what is
162:57 the difference between upwork and Fiverr
162:59 Fiverr I think is a much more fast-paced
163:02 maybe scrappier kind of platform it was
163:04 designed so each job only cost $5 that
163:07 doesn't really exist anymore um whereas
163:09 upworks may be more of a sustainable uh
163:12 process with a bit of higher caliber of
163:14 talent as well but if I needed to get
163:16 something quick set up like my Google
163:17 analytics or Google tag manager or
163:19 something technical I'd probably just go
163:20 to Fiverr and post a quick job there but
163:22 you can do um upw work as well it just
163:25 pick one platform I think so the next
163:26 hiring method that I really like is just
163:29 going onto Twitter so we can come on to
163:31 Twitter and you can first just start
163:35 following people in the industry that
163:38 you're looking for so um what there's a
163:41 ton you can even come to my profile if
163:42 you want and you can just find a lot of
163:45 people that have the the task at hand in
163:48 their name or their bio so if I wanted
163:51 to find a landing page or website
163:53 developer I could just go WR in landing
163:55 pages and just come to these people and
163:56 you can see just the caliber of this um
164:00 this work has instantly lifted compared
164:02 to the portfolios that we've just seen
164:04 on upwork these people are going to be
164:06 charging a lot more than the upwork
164:07 people but as I said you know you're
164:09 trading off uh price for um
164:12 Effectiveness so if you're a little bit
164:14 more competent and know what you're
164:15 doing come to Twitter right in the
164:17 person and just do a cold Outreach how
164:19 much does it cost to build a wireframe
164:21 of a website and uh again they'll give
164:23 you an approximate hours you can provide
164:25 them all the same brief and they'll
164:27 absolutely nail it so a few things on
164:29 Twitter there are still a lot of
164:31 Pretenders of course like people that
164:33 are claiming that they built the Audie
164:34 page which they didn't but that's for
164:37 you to kind of vet them yourself ask
164:39 them the right questions ask them how
164:41 long it's going to take them to deliver
164:43 and uh yeah you should be able to find
164:45 some some great people that way then the
164:48 final one is LinkedIn so coming into
164:51 LinkedIn it's more of a formal
164:52 recruitment process this uh I think
164:55 works really really well for hiring
164:57 people in Australia in United States as
165:00 well so you've got two options with
165:01 LinkedIn you can post a job and then you
165:03 can pay to boost that job to people so
165:06 you might be paying 10 20 $30 a day
165:10 again you need to make a really formal
165:11 job post and you'll get resumes coming
165:13 in so people submit their resumés you
165:15 can review them and it's generally
165:17 hiring more full-time workers
165:19 alternatively what you can do is you can
165:20 go into LinkedIn recruiter so I think
165:22 there a free trial and it's just up here
165:24 on the right and you can uh
165:27 actually set it up so you can look at
165:29 other businesses and where people are
165:33 doing the similar role at other
165:34 businesses and you can actually just
165:35 message them directly on LinkedIn hey
165:37 would you like to do some short
165:39 part-time work and build a website
165:41 through this
165:43 [Music]
165:51 another great way of getting traffic to
165:53 your website is influencer marketing
165:55 it's a very common marketing strategy
165:57 nowadays and it has created amazing
166:00 brands that you know today like Jim
166:02 shark was one of the first pioneers in
166:05 influencer marketing and it's been uh
166:07 they still do a lot of it today the main
166:10 benefits of influencer marketing is
166:12 there's no ad setup and there's no
166:14 technical platform but that's also one
166:17 of its negatives in that that it's not
166:20 hypers scalable to scale it you need to
166:22 have a lot of conversations with a lot
166:24 of people it is also relatively
166:27 difficult to do uh there's people think
166:30 that it's free but it's not you're going
166:31 to have to send a product at least
166:33 that's what we call gifting Campaign
166:35 which I'm going to get into in a second
166:38 but it does cost a little bit and you do
166:40 need to put a bit of work into it as
166:42 well so while it seems simpler on paper
166:44 there are some drawbacks of it but I'm
166:46 going to show you the exact influencer
166:48 strategy that I've used with all of my
166:50 startups and we work with thousands of
166:53 influencers and we use a very similar
166:54 method to this to this day so our first
166:56 step in influencer marketing is just
166:59 going to Instagram all we need to do is
167:01 Click search what I suggest for you if
167:03 you are just getting started is to do
167:04 your Instagram influencer reach out from
167:06 your page you're trying to build like a
167:08 personal relationship with these
167:09 influencers it will feel very commercial
167:12 coming from your brand page when you DM
167:14 them and they're probably going to
167:15 charge you higher rates or um not even
167:17 work with you but if you can just show
167:19 them that you're like a young upand
167:21 cominging founder and trying to make
167:22 something they might come to you with
167:24 better proposal so for our Pet Brands
167:27 all we're going to do is you know we
167:29 have a few options here we can go to pet
167:31 owners or we could just work with pets
167:33 themselves I think we probably want to
167:35 go you know we probably want to do find
167:37 some pet owners so we could just write
167:39 in something like vet we're just trying
167:40 to find one profile that encompasses the
167:43 the demographic that we're looking for
167:45 and then all we need to do is just click
167:46 follow and then it'll drop down down
167:49 here and you'll get all of these
167:50 recommended pages that you can go ahead
167:53 and just start clicking through so we've
167:54 got uh Dr Chris here we've got um all of
167:58 these ones now these are probably too
167:59 big they're at over 100,000 so they are
168:03 probably going to charge us or or give
168:04 us a pretty full-on kind of contract to
168:07 work with them we're looking if you're
168:09 looking to do a gifted Campaign which is
168:11 where you send them a product and you
168:13 just expect them to kind of post for you
168:15 then you really do need someone much
168:16 smaller because these Pages they
168:18 influence is quite great and it makes
168:20 sense that they will charge people um to
168:23 post on their page so if you're looking
168:26 for pages around depending on the price
168:28 of your product if you're selling a
168:29 $1,000 product maybe you can get larger
168:32 pages to um promote your product for
168:35 free but if you're selling like a $50
168:36 product really under 20,000 followers
168:39 might work on a gifted relationship
168:41 there's also the possibility that you
168:43 can reach out to these people work with
168:45 them once on a gifted relationship and
168:47 if they get sales
168:49 then you can work on a paid relationship
168:51 and ongoing I'm going to touch on that
168:52 in a little bit and bouncing around a
168:54 bit but so um Dr Chris Brown like this
168:57 is a better page size and it will be a
168:59 really really engaged audience you can
169:01 see when I highlight over the videos and
169:04 photos videos are a great way to measure
169:06 engagement um you can see that he's
169:08 getting a fair few he's a celebrity so
169:10 he's going to charge a lot um despite
169:12 his page not being too big oh sorry this
169:14 is a brand page so that's why it's like
169:16 that I'm sure his personal page has got
169:18 more but that doesn't matter cuz we can
169:19 actually still follow this and we can
169:21 start seeing like some other Pages as
169:23 well and just trying to build this kind
169:25 of map and find the perfect person so
169:29 here we've got this vet here I can
169:32 follow him and then a super relevant so
169:37 we've got relevance meaning how close it
169:39 is to the niche that we're selling in
169:41 and then we've got reach which is how
169:43 many people actually see their content
169:45 so reach is like engagement and they're
169:47 the two things that you've got to
169:48 consider because if I got someone that
169:50 was a bodybuilder to post a dog bed the
169:52 relevance is low but their reach might
169:54 be high so they still might sell or so
169:56 you've got to weigh this up into to who
169:58 to to send to um so let's say I wanted
170:02 to oh it looks like he is uh fitness
170:05 trainer um so let's say you can see that
170:08 we've got like a lot of vets down here
170:11 um now and we can just open all of these
170:13 up I'm just holding control and just
170:15 clicking to open it in a new tab and you
170:18 can see
170:19 these Pages here so this is getting
170:21 smaller and smaller 16,000 followers
170:24 which is probably more in our range and
170:25 we can also um you know they might be
170:28 willing to post on a gifted basis so to
170:30 outreach this person all I'd do is
170:32 message so all I would say is Hi
170:37 Samantha I have started a new business
170:41 and I'll tag my page so it would be like
170:43 dog via the Instagram page now this is
170:45 really important because you want to
170:46 have a really pretty Instagram feed that
170:49 is the best way to describe it it needs
170:51 to look really appealing because they're
170:53 going to click on that Instagram page go
170:55 check it out and see if you're an
170:56 established brand they don't want to
170:58 promote anything that looks really tacky
171:00 and that's what a lot of drop shippers
171:02 get wrong is influencers don't want to
171:05 post a random little shower nozzle that
171:07 does something it just doesn't make any
171:09 sense so you want to make sure your page
171:11 looks nice and it has some educational
171:13 content because Instagram is more of a
171:16 discovery educational process for these
171:17 customers so
171:19 um but anyway you would do hi Samantha
171:21 I've started a new business
171:24 dog.co started a new business called Dog
171:28 via
171:32 would I would love to send you a dog bed
171:37 and that's all you're going to say a
171:38 really small message just offering them
171:41 to send them a dog bed and see what they
171:44 come back with now there's a few ways to
171:46 go about this and that it the industry
171:49 right now is you know does argue about
171:51 it a lot you can insist that they do a
171:54 post um before sending it to them or
171:56 just get them to agree on that
171:58 alternatively you can just send it to
172:00 them now you're you're typically going
172:03 to have to do maybe 100 reach outs to
172:06 people and then maybe 20 of them are
172:08 going to reply and then you'll get like
172:10 10 people to post and that's normal I my
172:14 recommendation is in the very early
172:16 stages if you got very low budget and
172:17 you barely got any products get them to
172:19 at least agree yeah I'm happy to do a
172:21 nice post for you then what what happens
172:24 once they've done that post you send
172:26 them the product you give them a
172:27 discount code as well because they're
172:29 going to put that discount code in that
172:31 post and then you're going to track the
172:33 sales when a customer uses on the
172:35 Shopify store so you can see how much
172:37 traffic these people are actually
172:39 bringing you when you're only just
172:40 starting out you're actually going to
172:41 know exactly when these people post
172:43 because there's not going to be a huge
172:44 amount of traffic on your site and there
172:46 should be a little bump when you when
172:47 you do it so
172:49 uh ideally they would post a video
172:51 something that can go viral um so that's
172:53 something you can
172:54 consider when you're working with these
172:56 influencers like what's the quality of
172:58 their content can I use that content to
173:00 actually go into my Facebook ads later
173:01 on so this that's the influencer
173:04 framework reaching out to people um
173:06 reaching out to volume working with them
173:08 on an ongoing basis if they get sales
173:11 being willing to pay someone especially
173:12 if they are bringing in sales because
173:14 you can just keep Rec collaborating with
173:15 the people that have a lot of influence
173:18 one of tip that I do have is working
173:19 with influencers that just haven't done
173:21 much promotion before because their
173:23 followers are just going to be so
173:24 emotionally connected with the audience
173:26 because they're not promoting anything
173:28 they've got a personable touch and
173:30 generally they convert really well and
173:32 then also try a couple of different
173:33 niches I'm trying vets now maybe I will
173:35 try a pet Pages I'll go to Golden
173:37 Retriever pages and I'll I'll promote um
173:39 through them as well and see what works
173:42 one common term that gets thrown around
173:43 in influencer marketing and Drop
173:45 Shipping is called Whit listening or
173:46 dark posting this is where i' would get
173:48 this vet to actually promote uh I would
173:51 connect her Instagram and her Facebook
173:54 page to my ads manager which allows me
173:56 to promote ads through her page this is
173:59 another form of really native
174:00 advertising to the feed because they're
174:02 going to see a vet is saying this and
174:04 you can actually scale accordingly
174:06 through that that is relatively Advanced
174:07 and I think you should just start with
174:09 your own ad account first and then doing
174:11 a little bit of influencer marketing a
174:13 common question that I get around
174:14 influencer marketing is how much should
174:16 I pay an influencer now if you're not
174:19 experienced in influencer marketing and
174:21 you don't have any sales for your
174:23 website and you're only just getting
174:25 started you haven't even got product
174:26 Channel fit I don't recommend that you
174:29 should be paying influencers it's very
174:31 very hard to know the value that these
174:33 influencers are going to bring and I I
174:36 think that you're better off gifting and
174:38 learning with the smaller influencers
174:40 and managing those relationships
174:41 accordingly eventually influencers can
174:44 charge $100 to a post all the way up to
174:46 you know a million doar a post so it
174:48 does really cost a lot of money but you
174:50 need all of these supporting structures
174:53 because influencer can be very top of
174:54 funnel like driving a bit of awareness
174:56 people learn about your brand they click
174:58 on your Instagram profile they'll learn
174:59 a little bit and then eventually your
175:01 Facebook ads start targeting them and
175:03 your email marketing starts you know
175:04 they subscribe to your email and then
175:05 they go through the email flows that
175:07 we've set up so you need all of those
175:09 supporting channels to make sure that uh
175:12 in Instagram influencers can be
175:14 profitable another common question I get
175:16 is what are the best types of
175:17 influencers
175:18 Instagram influencers in my opinion is
175:20 the most saturated meaning everyone is
175:22 doing what I just showed you now that is
175:24 not a good thing I think that there's a
175:27 chance to go viral more so on Tik Tok
175:29 nowadays so Tik Tok influencers can get
175:31 a lot more Impressions cuz it's that
175:32 format of content so I think that
175:34 they're better um because you get one
175:36 viral Tik Tok and you you you can make
175:39 $10,000 from that then my favorite
175:42 influencers is YouTube influencers
175:44 because they have such a strong
175:45 emotional connection to Their audience
175:47 the problem is the scale there's not
175:49 heaps of them so getting you know
175:51 YouTube influencers to do reviews on
175:52 your products is going to be really
175:54 influential but uh they are quite hard
175:57 to get on board especially if you don't
175:58 have a great
176:00 [Music]
176:09 product now one other thing that I
176:11 really wanted to expand everyone's mind
176:12 to is that we don't only need to do
176:15 digital marketing we can also sell our
176:18 products through stores so this is
176:21 typically called wholesale or retail
176:23 while this may be difficult for really
176:24 saturated old Drop Shipping products if
176:27 you've created a really nice brand there
176:29 is a good chance that retail stores are
176:31 going to stock you there's two methods
176:33 that you can do here so the first one is
176:35 using something like Fair which we've
176:37 just signed up for they do take quite a
176:39 high fee for your clients but you can
176:41 get bulk orders of 10 20 100 of your
176:44 units and then they'll get sold through
176:46 little boutique stores so you can browse
176:48 The Collection um if you're selling
176:50 something like in home Wares this could
176:52 be a great solution for your product the
176:54 other thing that you can do is work with
176:56 an agency that does a lot of retail and
176:58 wholesale transactions so they have
177:00 connections with all of the buying teams
177:02 and you can put together a deck like a
177:04 presentation this is our product this is
177:06 why we're awesome this is our reviews
177:09 and this is all of our pricing our
177:10 wholesale pricing and you can ship the
177:12 products to these major retailers it's
177:14 great to get thinking about this because
177:17 you you can make sure your packaging is
177:19 suitable for retail and wholesale and
177:21 eventually when your brand gets really
177:22 big you can get into the big Costco or
177:24 the Walmarts that place $110,000 to you
177:28 know $300,000 orders at once so
177:31 definitely start thinking about it and
177:33 uh you can test fair or you can even go
177:35 door knocking you can go to some of
177:37 these smaller retailers and see if you
177:39 can sell it in bul just have all of your
177:41 pricing set up know your exact gross
177:43 margin they they're going to want to
177:44 charge a markup as well so you can
177:46 charge 10 20% of your costs your landed
177:50 costs um on top of that and then they'll
177:52 make an extra little bit of money as
177:54 well so you will need to put like a
177:56 little contract together little uh
177:58 wholesale relationship contract together
178:01 if you're just working with someone that
178:02 you went door knocking for but any um
178:05 half decent lawyer or you could probably
178:06 download a template for that now if
178:08 you're not going to use something like
178:09 fair or you can use an agency that
178:12 specializes in wholesale these people
178:14 have good relationships with the sales
178:18 managers and the purchasing managers for
178:20 these um larger retailers but if you
178:23 don't want to do that you can actually
178:25 just come into LinkedIn and you can go
178:27 to someone like Target you can just
178:30 write in Target and come into that and
178:33 come into the
178:37 organization and then you can come into
178:40 people and then you can just basically
178:43 come down here and find the people to
178:45 contact them directly so you've got the
178:47 buyer at Target here um we might blow
178:49 his name so nobody's spamming him but
178:52 you can reach out to them now one
178:55 disclaimer this isn't a secret lots of
178:57 people would be doing that so it does
178:59 really help if you've got an established
179:01 agency that works with these people
179:04 already that can sell you you also need
179:06 to create a really nice looking deck
179:09 like to sell the product why they should
179:12 stock you why you're unique your sales
179:15 velocity all of those kind of things so
179:16 this might just be a little bit advanced
179:18 for you but I do want you to get really
179:20 excited about the potential of working
179:21 with some major retailers now a lot of
179:23 people ask me how has the Udi worked
179:25 with you know Disney Warner Brothers
179:28 Nickelodeon all of these major
179:30 licenses and it really was a matter of
179:34 just coming to LinkedIn and going to
179:36 someone like Disney and coming to the
179:39 people and reaching out to them um and
179:42 we were very lucky because we had such a
179:44 great product and such great sales
179:46 velocity they already kind of knew the
179:48 brand and wanted to work with us come
179:50 into here come into people and just
179:52 write in licensing and there should be a
179:54 bunch of Licensing managers now they
179:56 might be Regional so you need to find
179:58 the Australian one or the US One
179:59 wherever you're going to sell the
180:00 product and yeah you can just reach out
180:02 to them and have your debt ready and try
180:04 to sell your
180:08 [Music]
180:13 product so the other thing I wanted to
180:15 cover today is customer service now
180:17 customer service is one of the most
180:19 important parts of creating a long-term
180:21 business a lot of people when they first
180:24 set up their store they're going to have
180:26 a lot of problems new products sometimes
180:28 come with problems you oversell the
180:30 product maybe there's lots of different
180:32 things that you just didn't understand
180:33 about the customers or how to
180:35 communicate you know shipping times so
180:37 it's understandable that there's going
180:39 to be customer service inquiries
180:41 initially your ability to make sure that
180:44 those early customers have a good
180:46 experience and you get good reviews on
180:48 something like trustpilot or
180:49 productreview.com.au will allow you to
180:52 get really good repeat customers
180:55 customers coming back and telling their
180:56 friends about it you can then use things
180:58 like trust pilot and product review as
181:01 marketing so you can say look how many
181:03 great reviews we have on this platform
181:06 if you get lots of negative reviews even
181:08 on Facebook so they send a customer
181:10 survey after every purchase from
181:13 Facebook like if you're running Facebook
181:14 ads you purchase then a few weeks later
181:18 the customer will get did you enjoy the
181:20 experience if you get lots of bad
181:21 reviews on that then what will happen is
181:24 Facebook can actually ban your account
181:26 and now these are one of the you know
181:28 this is some of the dark sides of Drop
181:29 Shipping you just need to make sure that
181:31 there's a great customer experience so
181:32 how do we do that first of all we've got
181:34 this forwarding email here you can set
181:37 up your own email if you want you can
181:38 switch your email hosting all of those
181:40 kind of things um but if you want to if
181:44 you're just starting out you don't need
181:46 a tool okay it's is absolutely free to
181:49 run this and you can just manage the
181:51 emails coming through and just reply to
181:54 them as they come but if you're starting
181:56 to do maybe if you're maybe getting 10
181:59 emails a day it's really maybe even a
182:02 bit less five emails a day it's really
182:04 important that you start to get
182:05 organized because everyone knows how it
182:08 is when lots of emails are coming
182:10 through you can miss them and it can get
182:12 really confusing and it's also hard to
182:14 find customers orders and it just gets
182:16 really really messy so this is when you
182:18 would use a tool and I'm going to show
182:20 you to use the tool um gorgeous this is
182:22 the one that we use there's a few out
182:24 there there's also zenis which is a
182:25 really large one but it's a bit harder
182:27 to use in my opinion gorgeous is great
182:30 I'll add an affiliate link down in the
182:32 description below for you you can just
182:34 click add app and this will sync up with
182:36 Shopify we can create an account now
182:38 we've got gorgees here so we've
182:40 connected Shopify we need to connect our
182:43 email and we can also set up live chat
182:45 through Shopify as well which is a great
182:47 customer serence for some people just
182:49 make sure if you're setting up live chat
182:51 that someone is actually Manning it
182:53 otherwise you should just set up email
182:55 so all we need to do is verify our email
182:58 which we'll do now just click the
182:59 verification and this is now successful
183:01 so I'm going to show you exactly how
183:03 gorgeous works you can come into this
183:05 email this is called a ticket so we can
183:08 come into here we can reply to them via
183:10 gorgeous and that will go straight to
183:11 their email now what's awesome over here
183:14 you can see this Shopify integration we
183:16 can see their Total Money spent and just
183:19 all of their sh shipping details we can
183:21 then create automation so let's say we
183:24 wanted to create a macro which is uh
183:27 there's great examples here let's say
183:29 they wanted to change or cancel that
183:31 order but it's already been shipped we
183:33 can just click that and it'll populate
183:36 all his data so we've got his first name
183:38 it can also pull from tracking numbers
183:40 and kind of all of those amazing things
183:42 so there's some great macros in here um
183:45 and it it can even pull that order
183:47 number as you you can see there so
183:48 gorgeous is a very robust toour that's
183:50 going to speed you up so if even if
183:52 you're doing your customer service
183:53 yourself and don't have any agents um
183:56 it's just going to make it a lot quicker
183:58 for you and a lot more organized so
184:00 there you have it that's a complete
184:01 setup everything you need to know about
184:04 Shopify obviously it went very shallow
184:06 into all of the knowledge that you
184:07 needed so if you pick a channel such as
184:10 like Instagram influencers you going to
184:12 have to go and research more but I hope
184:14 this has given you a broad enough
184:16 understanding it's really important want
184:17 to kind of just focus on getting those
184:19 first sales don't compare yourself to
184:21 like absolutely enormous Brands and what
184:23 they're doing just stay relentlessly
184:25 focused on one channel pick pick that
184:28 and just get your first sale because
184:29 you'll get very addicted to the process
184:32 then the other thing I will reference
184:34 you know I have done videos where I say
184:35 Drop Shipping is a scam this is
184:38 obviously somewhat of clickbait but at
184:40 the same time I do believe that Drop
184:44 Shipping should only be used to get
184:45 those first initial sales and then you
184:48 should be building a brand that is
184:50 relying on customer service Unique
184:52 Products using a 3pl to reduce delivery
184:55 time and just kind of uh you know going
184:58 into wholesale all of those great things
185:00 that is really really adding value to
185:02 the world whereas Drop Shipping is just
185:04 for learning just for beginners um which
185:06 we covered today so don't forget to like
185:09 And subscribe if you want to join
185:10 mentorship use any of our affiliate
185:12 links I do appreciate it um you we'll
185:15 keep making videos and keep helping you
185:16 out thanks
