0:00 so we have the DJI Mike mini we'll see
0:02 how good the Bluetooth is and I don't
0:04 know if it's uh if it's going to connect
0:06 but this is going to be crazy if it
0:07 connects via Bluetooth that is going to
0:10 be awesome so for the past few weeks
0:12 I've been using this right here the
0:13 allnew DJI Mike mini pretty much
0:16 alongside this guy the DJI Mike 2 I've
0:19 been putting the Mike mini through its
0:21 Paces using it from everything from just
0:23 personal vlogging doing a lot of range
0:25 tests also hooking this up to my
0:27 daughter when she's doing a play at her
0:29 school also when I was on site with a
0:31 client I also used the mik mini and I
0:33 definitely learned a lot of things with
0:34 the mik mini especially in comparison to
0:36 the DJI mic 2 so in this video of course
0:38 let's go through all of the new features
0:40 and advantages and talk about some of
0:42 the shortcomings when comparing it to
0:44 the DJI Mike 2 first and foremost let's
0:47 get some of the main stuff out of the
0:48 way which is pretty obvious Mike mini
0:50 comes in about less than half the size
0:53 and weight of the DJI Mike 2 of course
0:56 with that size difference one of the
0:57 biggest advantages of the mik mini is
1:00 hooking it up to your talent or hooking
1:01 it up to your shirt you don't have a
1:03 heavier mic like the mic 2 which weighs
1:06 about 28 G the mic mini comes in at only
1:09 10 G also has that little small M has a
1:12 mini magnet on the back so you can hook
1:14 it up to your chest just like this and
1:16 you're able to have this thing on your
1:17 talent and of course like I said it
1:19 doesn't pull your shirt down as much as
1:21 some of the heavier mics now I like to
1:22 wear black shirts a lot so of course
1:24 this matches my black shirt but if you
1:27 are wearing white this right here they
1:29 have the mic mini in what they call the
1:31 arctic white so here are the two
1:33 different colors for the mic mini when
1:36 it come out to microphones we have
1:38 built-in mics here at the very top of
1:40 the mic mini as well as of course the
1:41 DJI mic 2 the one thing that you will
1:43 notice here on the very top of the mic
1:45 mini versus the DJI mic 2 is that there
1:48 is no port for you to hook up a wired
1:52 mic so if you wanted to use something
1:53 like a lavalier mic like you can on the
1:56 DJI mic 2 you're not able to do that on
1:58 the mic mini next about range and this
2:00 was something that actually really
2:01 surprised me the range on the Mike mini
2:05 rated for 400 m in distance lineup site
2:08 where the DJI Mike 2 is rated for 250 M
2:11 all right now I am hooked up to the DJI
2:14 action 5 via Bluetooth so we have the
2:16 DJI Mike mini in the same location here
2:20 in downtown Petco Park and I'm going to
2:23 do the same thing I'm going to have my
2:25 back to the microphone and back to the
2:27 camera we'll see how good the Bluetooth
2:29 is right now I'm just handholding the
2:32 mic and we'll just head down here I'm
2:34 going to try to continue talking as I do
2:38 this video right now I'm facing the
2:41 camera so this should be good to go now
2:43 let's turn my
2:47 back testing
2:49 one camera now facing the camera how
2:53 does the audio sound testing 1 2 3 4 5
2:55 remember this is Bluetooth so I don't
2:57 know if this is going to have any range
2:59 do you see do you see the bars moving
3:01 the bars are moving all right so the
3:03 bars are moving my back
3:06 isera I moving now but we'll see all the
3:10 way again to
3:12 stage now I am facing the camera way
3:15 over here and I don't know if it's uh if
3:18 it's going to connect but this is going
3:20 to be crazy if it connects via Bluetooth
3:22 that is going to be awesome but turning
3:24 my to the camera testing 134 1345 how
3:30 does the audio sound and let's work our
3:32 way
3:34 back that would be awesome if uh this
3:37 thing does work at that distance with
3:41 Bluetooth
3:43 and see if we have any cutouts so coming
3:46 back up how does the audio sound coming
3:49 from this little tiny guy hooked up to
3:51 that right there which you're seeing is
3:53 a DJI action 5 Pro all right so the DJI
3:57 mik or Mike mini is H up to the action
4:00 and I think this is where you're going
4:03 to see a lot of benefit if you are just
4:04 trying to keep things nice and simple
4:06 using an action
4:08 camera and you want crispy audio and you
4:11 want to get that camera away from you
4:14 how does the audio sound SD sign in the
4:17 background represent we are here in San
4:19 Diego of course but this is what it
4:22 looks like and this is what it sounds
4:24 like if you're just going to walk and
4:25 Vlog with a wireless system definitely
4:28 going to have a lot better audio
4:30 compared to the onboard audio here so
4:33 how does the audio sound testing 1 two 3
4:36 4 5 this is the audio coming from the
4:40 DJI Mike mini hooked up via Bluetooth
4:44 with the doggy right here hooked up VI a
4:47 Bluetooth to the DJI action 5 how does
4:49 the audio sound we are on the
4:52 boardwalk over in the Harbor Marina
4:55 District over in San Diego downtown and
4:57 with my son I'm going to actually mount
4:58 it to the B botom of his helmet one on
5:01 her chest right
5:07 there I'm going slow wa this is so
5:21 fast now one thing I didn't notice on
5:23 the Mike mini which I actually really
5:25 like is that they did change how you
5:29 sink it
5:30 now on the mic 2os you'll normally have
5:34 to press and hold to get a green light
5:37 for you to sink it to the actual
5:40 receiver and then if you're going
5:41 Bluetooth you have to press and hold it
5:43 wait for the blue light now when you
5:45 sync it up which I like press and hold
5:47 the linking button on the mic mini press
5:51 and hold the linking button on the
5:53 receiver and it'll automatically switch
5:56 between the Bluetooth and the standard
5:58 connection
6:00 so that you don't have to pick one of
6:01 the other it will automatically find it
6:03 so once you have linking turned on on
6:05 both of the uh devices then they'll find
6:09 each other and I really like that
6:10 because then it takes out the guess
6:11 workor of how to link them up so that's
6:14 something I noticed on the mic mini that
6:16 I hope they bring over to the DJI mic 2
6:19 on one side of the mic we do have the
6:20 power button as well as the linking
6:22 button and on the other side we have the
6:25 light indicator LED light indicator
6:27 letting you know what mode you are in
6:29 you do not have a USBC Port here on the
6:32 mic mini like we do on the mic 2 the
6:35 USBC port on the mic 2 you're able to do
6:38 things like firmware updates on the
6:40 actual mic itself also if you wanted to
6:43 download your audio from the DJ mic to
6:45 to something like your laptop you're
6:47 able to do that through that Port the
6:48 one thing here on the DJI mik mini is
6:51 that you do not have any onboard storage
6:54 that's definitely one of the biggest
6:55 advantages of the DJI mic 2 is that you
6:59 do have internal recording uh storage
7:02 here so you could basically just use
7:04 this as a standalone mic you actually
7:06 don't need a receiver it doesn't need to
7:08 be hooked up anything you can actually
7:09 just turn it on hit record and now you
7:11 can record all of your audio directly to
7:13 the microphone now not only is that
7:15 internal recording option on the DJ Mike
7:17 2 really nice to have but that also
7:20 gives you the ability to have 32-bit
7:22 float on the DJ mic 2 something we do
7:25 not have here on the DJI mic mini now
7:28 even though we don't have 32 bit flow on
7:29 the Mike mini they did add in that
7:31 automatic limiting feature here to
7:33 prevent the clipping another feature
7:35 that the DJI Mike mini has is the
7:37 automatic clipping control which means
7:39 if I were to yell really really loud or
7:42 talk really really loud into the
7:44 microphone ideally you'll probably hear
7:46 some clipping right now it actually is
7:48 set to off now I'm going to turn
7:50 automatic clipping on and see how much
7:52 of a difference there is and just like
7:53 that in the settings turn the automatic
7:55 clipping on now let's do that test one
7:57 more time testing 1 2 3 testing 1 2 3
8:00 how does the audio sound I am pretty
8:02 much yelling into the microphone and is
8:04 there any clipping compared to when it
8:06 was off a nice feature that they brought
8:07 over from the DJI Mike 2 is that we also
8:09 have noise cancelling on the DJI mik
8:12 mini all right so let's see how it
8:13 sounds right now there's noise
8:15 cancelling is just off so this is what
8:17 it sounds like I'm going to crack these
8:19 windows just so you have a little bit of
8:20 that wind noise coming into the car and
8:22 right now noise cancelling is off we are
8:24 in basic mode right now so let me switch
8:27 it over to noise cancelling on
8:30 all right noise cancelling is on and
8:31 this is noise cancelling in basic mode
8:33 so how much difference was there uh from
8:36 having noise canceling off to right now
8:38 this is noise cancelling in basic mode
8:41 now in order for you to change the
8:42 setting you just have to hook up the
8:43 receiver to the phone and you're able to
8:44 go to the settings on the receiver and
8:46 change it from basic to strong so right
8:49 now this is what the audio sounds like
8:51 without any noise cancelling got my
8:53 windows cracked open here but I did
8:55 switch it over to the strong noise
8:58 cancelling settings so let's see how
8:59 this sounds all right we switched it on
9:02 to noise cancelling is on but is set to
9:05 strong so how much of a difference is
9:07 there between the two between having the
9:09 noise cancelling off between having it
9:12 on the basic mode and now here we have
9:14 noise cancelling on strong I have noise
9:17 cancelling turned off at the moment and
9:20 now I'm going to turn on noise
9:21 cancelling right now there you go we
9:24 have noise cancelling on the yellow
9:26 light is on here on the side how does
9:29 the audio sound with noise cancelling
9:31 busy road right next to me let me turn
9:33 it back
9:35 off noise cancelling set to off how does
9:38 the audio sound this is the DJI Mike
9:41 mini hooked up to the iPhone 15 with the
9:45 receiver plugged into the bottom the
9:47 runtime on the mik mini a single
9:49 transmitter can go for about 11 1/2
9:51 hours compared to the DJI mic 2
9:53 transmitter this has a runtime of about
9:55 6 hours the one thing that's nice is
9:56 that when you drop your mics into this
9:58 case it'll actually charge it back up
10:00 and when you charge it back up you're
10:02 able to now get up to 48 hours of
10:05 runtime when you charge it up with the
10:07 case when you charge your mics with a
10:09 case you can get about 18 hours of
10:11 runtime after charging it through this
10:13 case the one thing you will notice here
10:15 on the DJI Mike Mini case is that we are
10:17 able to now keep the cord here at the
10:20 very top if you were to put on a wind
10:23 muff here on the very top all you have
10:24 to do is press this on the back and then
10:27 onto the top once you have the the wind
10:29 muff on here you can now put it back
10:31 into the case and close it up and you
10:35 can transport it with the wind muff on
10:37 to the mic I know may sound pretty silly
10:39 but if you had the DJI mic too and you
10:43 pop it on like that and if you wanted to
10:45 drop it in here you are not able to
10:47 close the case up now when this kit does
10:49 come the two transmitters as well as one
10:53 receiver and the one receiver also has a
10:56 USBC now the case does not come with a
10:58 lightning cas C it only comes with a
11:00 USBC however you are able to purchase a
11:02 lightning cable if you have the older
11:04 iPhones and you have a little slot here
11:06 to put it at the very top now comparing
11:07 this receiver to the DJI Mike 2 receiver
11:10 of course smaller we don't have a screen
11:13 here on the front of this one it showing
11:16 us any of the menus the only thing we
11:17 really have on the mic mini receiver is
11:20 the ability to adjust the gain from zero
11:23 to POS 6 to 12 as well as -6 -12 so this
11:27 is how the audio is set at zero how does
11:30 the audio sound as far as volume goes
11:32 testing 1 2 3 4 5 this is the gain set
11:35 to zero let's switch it now to -12 going
11:39 down to -12 right now testing 1 2 3 4 5
11:43 how does the audio sound this is the
11:44 gain set to -12 how does the audio sound
11:48 testing 1 2 3 4 5 and let's go to -6
11:52 this is the gain set to -6 how does the
11:55 audio sound testing 1 2 3 4 5 testing 1
11:58 2 3 4 five let's go all the way up to
12:01 positive 6 all right this is the gain
12:03 set to positive 6 how does the audio
12:05 sound testing 1 2 345 testing 1 2 3 4 5
12:09 and let's push it all the way up to gain
12:11 at 12 testing 1 2 3 4 5 how does the
12:14 audio sound with the gain on the DJI
12:17 Mike mini receiver set to 12 how does
12:19 the audio sound testing 1 2 3 4 5 on the
12:22 very top we have one and two lit up here
12:25 to show you which one is connected to
12:26 the receiver on this side we have the
12:28 link Button as well as 3.5 to hook up to
12:31 your camera so if you wanted to hook up
12:33 the receiver directly to your camera
12:35 you're able to do that we have a builtin
12:37 cold shoe here at the very bottom which
12:39 is also a clip on this side we have the
12:40 power button and on the back we do have
12:42 the uh connectors for you to charge it
12:45 up as well as hook up the USBC one thing
12:47 I was really hoping would work but
12:48 unfortunately it does not this is the
12:51 adapter for your Sony camera
12:53 unfortunately the adapter size is larger
12:56 than the size here on the very back so
12:58 this does not slide in to the mik mini
13:01 now when it comes out to compatibility
13:02 with some of the other DJI products
13:04 what's really good is that they will
13:06 work with the DJI pocket 3 and if you do
13:09 have the two mic mini combo you can hook
13:12 up both mics to the pocket 3 as well as
13:15 the new DJI action 5 Pro this one does
13:19 accept two different mics the action 4
13:22 it will work with the wireless mic as
13:24 well except the action 4 only accepts
13:26 One microphone hookup and then if you
13:28 have something like the DJI action 3
13:30 this doesn't have the wireless linking
13:32 however you are able to then plug in
13:34 USBC to the side of the action three and
13:37 you can actually use this now as your
13:40 wireless system just like that now if
13:42 you didn't have any of these products
13:44 but you still wanted to have better
13:45 audio with your phone you are able to
13:47 connect your DJI Mike mini to your phone
13:50 via Bluetooth now the only downside of
13:52 hooking up Bluetooth to your phone is
13:53 actually the same issue we had here with
13:55 the DJI Mike 2 is that you're not able
13:57 to directly hook it up to the native
13:59 video photo app that you have on
14:02 something like this iPhone 15 however
14:04 you can download other thirdparty apps
14:05 like the Black Magic app and that's
14:08 actually a free app to use and when you
14:10 download that app you can hook up the
14:12 DJI mic via Bluetooth to that app all
14:15 right the one thing that's pretty cool
14:16 with the DJI mic mini is that you are
14:18 able to hook up the mic by itself to
14:22 your iPhone right I have it hooked up
14:24 right now to the iPhone 15 and I don't
14:26 have the receiver hooked up to it so
14:28 this is hooked up directly via Bluetooth
14:31 now of course this is the receiver here
14:33 you are able to hook it up with the
14:34 receiver you'll get better quality as
14:36 well as better reception but if you just
14:39 have the mic by itself you are able to
14:41 hook it up straight through Bluetooth
14:43 and this is really cool because you
14:45 don't necessarily have to have the
14:46 receiver on it you can just use the mic
14:49 by itself hook it up via Bluetooth and
14:51 how does the audio sound let me actually
14:53 move back a little bit further I'm going
14:55 to have my back to the camera so you
14:58 might not be be uh it might have the
15:00 best reception but once I go line of
15:01 sight like this ideally the reception
15:04 should be really good and the reason why
15:05 I'm shooting right next to the street is
15:07 because I want to see if the noise
15:08 cancelling works now there is noise
15:10 cancelling on the mini mic or mic mini
15:13 all you have to do is press the power
15:15 button just like that and then the
15:18 yellow light will turn on on the side
15:21 and this is with the noise canceling off
15:23 I'm not 100% sure if it works with just
15:26 the Bluetooth alone so how does the
15:28 audio sound
15:29 next to we busy road here in San Diego
15:32 testing 1 2 3 4 5 how does the audio
15:34 sound this is with the noise cancelling
15:36 on now let me turn it
15:40 off and this is with the noise
15:42 cancelling off now overall my thoughts
15:44 on the DJI Mike mini I am super
15:46 impressed with the quality you're
15:48 getting for this tiny little size and
15:51 not just that the tiny little price if
15:53 you wanted to buy just the transmitter
15:54 by itself this comes in at only
15:56 $59 and like I said if you have the
15:59 action 4 action 5 pocket 3 or just your
16:02 phone and you wanted to hook it up via
16:04 something like a third party app like
16:05 the Blackmagic app you are now able to
16:08 hook up this microphone to all of those
16:10 devices then if you want to step it up
16:11 and have even better audio you're going
16:13 to want to pick up the receiver and this
16:15 receiver combo with the transmitter
16:18 comes in at $89 of course you will need
16:20 the receiver if you're planning on using
16:22 your microphone setup with your camera
16:25 like I said this is just a cold shoe
16:26 you're going to hook up your 3.5 cable
16:29 here on the side to the camera and now
16:31 you're able to use your mic with
16:33 something like this the Sony A7 S3 and
16:35 for $169 you're able to get this right
16:38 here which is the full setup the two
16:39 transmitters one receiver comes with the
16:41 case all the accessories and of course
16:43 you can charge it in this case so you're
16:45 able to get a lot more runtime with this
16:47 package they are going to be selling the
16:48 case separately for about $49 but if you
16:51 are going to get it you might as well
16:52 get this whole thing for1 169 I think
16:54 one of the biggest advantages of the DJI
16:56 Mike mini will be when using it with
16:59 something like these cameras right here
17:01 I think having that smaller footprint
17:03 and also having just crispy audio and
17:05 keeping everything kind of more compack
17:07 for the price of only 59 bucks
17:09 definitely the DJI Mike mini though
17:11 packs a punch has a ton of features and
17:14 you guys tell me how was the audio
17:16 quality coming through as always if you
17:18 guys got some value from this video a
17:20 big like would be much appreciated this
17:21 is ultra sasio with flight path.com I'll
17:23 see you in the next one take care
