In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Thus was the situation in the Arabian Peninsula
As for the non-Arabian Peninsula in the Levant in Iraq in to India and China to Europe to Africa
The situation is worse and worse until Allah Almighty in that time looked at the people of the earth and despised them
He hated them the most, He despised them Arabs and non-Arabs
Except for remnants from the People of the Book
Here and there
Those who remained steadfast in monotheism and faith
They are the few remaining
The lineage of Ishmael in the Arabian Peninsula that remained and polytheism spread among them as well
In the lineage, Allah Almighty chose them
Then from the descendants of Ishmael that spread to tribes, He chose from them Kinana
From Kinana, he chose from them Quraysh, and they were the best among them in lineage
From Quraysh, He chose from them Banu Hashim, and they were the best family and lineage in all of Quraysh
So who is Hashim to whom his sons are attributed?
His original name of Hashim is Amr
He is Hashim son of Abd Manaf
Why was he named Hashim?
Because he used to crush the thareed, the dry bread, he would break it himself
He cooks broth and meat and slaughters the camel and others, and he prepares the threed himself
And he puts it in this broth and makes food to give as charity to the poor and pilgrims
He was rich and prosperous and of great honor
Who does not know Hashim?
When people used to come to Mecca, they would ask about Hashim
He is the one who does good to people and he is the one who honors them
He is the one in charge of the position of providing water and hospitality
He inherited it from his father and grandfather
Hashim, this man was the responsible one for providing water to the pilgrims and serving them
They took it from Ishmael, peace be upon him
Hashim is the one who taught the people of Mecca the journey of winter and summer
As for winter to Yemen and summer to Sham
The one who taught them this idea in trade is Hashim himself, so he was of great status
He was greatly known among the people of Mecca
One day, Hashim went to Sham as a merchant
On his way to Sham, he passed by Yathrib, which was later called Medina
He arrived in Medina with a delegation from his people and asked about the distinguished women
It was said to him that there is a woman named Salma bint Umar
She is the most distinguished woman of that time in Medina
She is from Banu Adi bin al-Najjar and she was of great honor
This woman had great honor so he proposed to her for marriage and she accepted
Hashim married her and became the husband of this honorable woman
He stayed with her for days then he left and continued his journey and his wife stayed in Medina
He traveled to Ash-Sham then went to Gaza and there Hashim fell ill
So when he fell ill, he passed away and was buried in Gaza and for this reason it is called Gaza, Gaza of Hashim
Hashim fell ill there and passed away and was buried there
The news came to his wife Salma
She mourned him but she was pregnant from him
The people learned that she was pregnant so the delegation returned to Mecca
and announced that before Hashim died, he entrusted the water supply to his brother
Who is his brother? His name is Al-Mutalib
He entrusted the water supply and the food support to him
It was said to him that his brother married a woman named Salma and Salma was pregnant
After years, the news came to Al-Mutalib that there was a son of his brother in the city
His name is Shaybah
This boy became a young man
It is not possible for your brother's son to remain in Medina while you have the leadership in Mecca
He took a she-camel and traveled to the city
He requested that Shaybah live with them in Mecca
At first the mother refused then she accepted
So his uncle Al-Mutalib took him and returned him to Mecca
When Al-Mutalib entered Mecca, the people saw a young boy with him.
They said that Al-Mutalib went to Medina, bought a slave, and returned.
So when they saw this boy, they would call him Abd al-Muttalib.
His name is Shaybah, but he is commonly known among people as Abdul Muttalib.
He heard the news of the demand, so he said to the people: "Beware, he is only my nephew."
This is the son of the master of people.
This is the son of Hashim.
But he was known by this name.
His name is Shaybah, and he is also called Shaybah al-Hamd due to the praise of people for him.
And also Shaybah Al-Fayyad because he was generous.
He was also known as Abdul Muttalib.
When Al-Mutalib passed away, the water supply and the feeding of the pilgrims were entrusted to his nephew Abdul Muttalib, the son of Hashim.
As for Abdul Muttalib, he has a great and significant story.
He was a tall, handsome, and well-built man, and whenever anyone saw him, they loved him.
The Master of Mecca without dispute!
He was called Shayba al-Hamd.
He was called Al-Fayyad because of the abundance of his blessings and goodness for the people.
He gained honor among his people in Mecca until the Quraysh wanted to send a delegation to a king,
they send Abd al-Muttalib.
They send him in any delegation to the kings and presidents.
Zamzam was not present at that time.
Zamzam water was not present
Zamzam water ended when polytheism spread in the Arabian Peninsula,
Allah removed from them the blessing of Zamzam
So the water was exhausted and dried up, and the water sank into the earth and was interrupted for hundreds of years
Until a day came when Abd al-Muttalib was sleeping in the Stone and he heard a voice saying to him
Dig Taybah
He woke up from his sleep and said what is Taybah?
The next day
He slept in the Stone in the Kaaba and then someone came to him saying dig Bara
He woke up from his sleep saying what is Bara?
On the third day he heard someone saying to him dig Al-Mudhirunah
What are Taybah, Bara, and Al-Mudhirunah?
On the fourth day, the same one came to him and said dig Zamzam
Zamzam they know it, the spring that dried up and was exhausted
He said and where is Zamzam?
So he pointed him to its location
And Abd al-Muttalib was a strong man
As soon as he woke up from his sleep, he called his eldest son Al-Harith and asked him to bring him the pickaxe
Quraysh was astonished as Abd al-Muttalib was digging with his son
And when they had dug the ground, Zamzam sprang forth and gushed again
After being interrupted for hundreds of years, Zamzam returned to say to Mecca, to the Arabian Peninsula, and to the people
Indeed, I who came to Ismail and his mother, I came to you once again for an event that will happen to you once again
For the goodness that will come to the earth once again
An omen and a good tidings, as if it is a sign that Mecca has an imminent appointment for a great event
When the water emerged, people rejoiced at the return of Zamzam once again, but they disagreed
O Abd al-Muttalib, the water is not yours!
He said: it is mine, I will give you whatever you want, but I am responsible for it
and I am the owner of the water supply and I am the one who dug it
I am the one whom Allah Almighty guided to it, so I am responsible
Quraysh disagreed with Abd al-Muttalib about who will be responsible for the water of Zamzam
Quraysh disagreed with Abd al-Muttalib about who would take charge of the water of Zamzam
So they said, let us refer to the diviner of Banu Sa'd
Abd al-Muttalib agreed, and everyone took twenty men with him
Quraysh took twenty men, and Abd al-Muttalib took twenty men, and they went to the diviner of Banu Sa'd
But the road was cut off for them, and the people were thirsty and were about to perish from severe thirst
Even while they were standing, Abd al-Muttalib raised his she-camel and water gushed forth from beneath her
So Quraysh knew that this man was blessed, and that they could not dispute him about Zamzam
So they said to him, by God, we will never dispute you about Zamzam
Quraysh returned and Abd al-Muttalib became the custodian of Zamzam
Allah blessed Abdullah with sons and daughters until he made a vow saying,
if Allah grants me ten sons, I will sacrifice one of them as the Arabs used to do
Out of extreme desire for male offspring, he said, if Allah grants me ten sons, I will sacrifice one for you
Imagine what the Arabs used to do
And indeed, Abd al-Muttalib was blessed with ten sons and six daughters
They grew up, and he gathered his sons and informed them of his vow
What will you do, O our father?
He said, this is my vow
They said to him, fulfill your vow, O our father
He took his ten sons - imagine
And among his sons, there was a boy named Abdullah
Abdullah, son of Abd al-Muttalib, was the dearest son to Abd al-Muttalib
Abd al-Muttalib took his sons and went to Hubal, the god whom the Quraysh consult when they disagree
And they would cast lots with arrows, which served as a lot
Each son wrote his name on it and placed it beside Hubal, and if the lot fell on one of the sons, he would be slaughtered
Abd al-Muttalib said, if not Abdullah, then take from me whatever you want
For he wanted the lot to fall on any son of his except Abdullah because he was his most beloved son
But the lot fell on Abdullah, his most beloved son
The ten came with the lots to Hubal, and Hubal chose Abdullah
He took his son and took the knife with him, and Abd al-Muttalib hurried to the Kaaba, and people gathered around him
He was not satisfied internally, but he had vowed, and he must fulfill his vow
Then Quraysh came screaming, what are you doing, O Abd al-Muttalib??
And the maternal uncles of Abdullah came saying, what are you doing, O Abd al-Muttalib?
He said, I will slaughter him, for the gods have chosen him
They said to him, do not do it, do not do it, and he said, but I will do it until he nearly slaughtered him.
Quraysh said to him, we have an opinion for you, accept it.
They said, there is a soothsayer in Hijaz whose words can be heard, go and consult her.
He accepted and took with him some of the people of Mecca and went with them to that soothsayer.
When he arrived, he said, this is my vow that has fallen upon my son Abdullah, what should I do?
The soothsayer said, how much is the blood money among you for the family of the murdered?
He said, ten camels.
She said, bring the ten camels and bring Abdullah and place them in front of Hubal and cast lots on them.
If the lots fall on Abdullah, add ten she-camels to the ten she-camels.
If it falls on the camels, slaughter them all, and thus you will redeem Abdullah, so he did.
He came with ten camels and brought his son Abdullah in front of the people.
He cast lots, and it fell on Abdullah.
So he placed another ten until it became twenty and cast lots, and it fell on Abdullah.
Then the she-camels became thirty, then forty, then eighty, then one hundred.
Then he cast lots, and it fell on the camels.
The people said, your Lord is pleased, O Abdul Muttalib.
He said, no, I will not accept until I cast lots three times to confirm whether the deities are pleased or not.
He cast lots again, then a third time, and it fell on the camels, so he slaughtered them all and redeemed his son Abdullah.
And he placed these slaughtered camels for the people, and whoever wants to eat from them, it is for him.
The beasts, birds, the poor, and the people eat from them.
And he slaughtered a hundred camels and ransomed his son
Abdullah grew up and became twenty-five years old
He became strong, handsome, and striking, and everyone desired him because he was the son of Abdul Muttalib, the leader of his people
Abdul Muttalib said to Abdullah, 'I want to marry you off'
And whom do you want me to marry, O father?
He said, 'You will marry the most noble, best, and honorable woman in all of Mecca'
I will choose for you the best woman in Mecca
And she is related to us in noble lineage
He said, 'And who is she?'
He said, 'She is Amina, the daughter of Wahb, the best woman in Quraysh in lineage and status'
The engagement and marriage took place and Abdullah entered upon that noble woman
A noble lineage with a noble lineage, and Abdullah stayed with her for days after the marriage and then traveled for trade
He traveled to Sham for his trade and Amina was pregnant
He traveled to Sham and on his way back passed through Medina, the land of his maternal uncles
He had fallen ill on the way, so he told the caravan and his companions to take him to Medina
He said that he wanted to stay there because he felt sick
So when he arrived in Medina, he stayed with his maternal uncles, the Banu Adi, and remained with them sick being treated
He remained a month while he was sick and they treated him until he passed away
When the caravan arrived in Mecca, they told his father: 'We left your son Abdullah in Medina
He said, 'Why did you leave him?'
They said we left him because he was sick at his maternal uncles
So Abdul Muttalib sent his son Al-Harith saying hurry to your brother and be with him until he returns
When Al-Harith went to Medina he found Abdullah had died
And he was buried in that city because this area will have a secret, a print, and a blessing
The grandfather Hashim is from there and the father Abdullah reaches there and is buried in it
The news reaches Abdul Muttalib and he mourned his son with great sorrow
As for Abdullah, he was buried in the house of Al-Nabigha in that area which is called Yathrib and later named Medina
Abdul Muttalib sent his son Al-Harith to remain with his brother and not to return except with him
When Al-Harith went and entered Medina while searching for his brother they told him his illness worsened until he died
Al-Harith was saddened and returned to his father sorrowfully
When Abdul Muttalib asked him where is your brother? Did I not tell you to bring him?
He said my brother died
Who?
Abdullah
How much did Abdul Muttalib mourn for his son who had just gotten married
How much Abdul Muttalib was attached to his son Abdullah but he died
Abdullah did not own much money when he died
He only owned five camels, some sheep, and an Abyssinian servant girl named Barakah who is nicknamed Umm Ayman
This inheritance was taken to Amina
That sad woman who did not stay with her husband long
who did not remain with her husband except for a few days and traveled for trade and was awaiting his return
but she heard the news of his death and grieved deeply
The tragedy is that she is pregnant and alone so how will this child be raised? and by whom? and with whom?
in the meantime there was in Yemen a great matter being arranged
what happened in Yemen?
There was in Yemen a man named Abraha who is a minister for the Negus who rules Ethiopia
and at that time Yemen was Christian and followed Ethiopia
and there was a minister named Abraha who wanted to get closer to the Negus
and the Negus and Abraha were upset because the Arabs do not come to them
The Arabs visit a house in Mecca called the Kaaba and the Negus does not recognize the Kaaba
and it pained them that the Arabs do not come to them in their trade and selling and only go to Mecca and to the Kaaba
so Abraha was upset and decided to do a great and painful act that history recorded
Abraha in Sana'a said to himself what is this Kaaba?
It's just an old house that people circle around and pilgrimage to
He wanted to build a church in Sana'a that the Arabs had not heard of like it, he named it Al-Qalis
He wanted to get closer to the Negus and told him that he would build him a church like none built for a king before you
and I will not be done with it until I redirect the Arab pilgrimage to it
so instead of the Arabs going to the Kaaba they will go to it
The Negus was pleased with this beautiful idea
So when he built that church and invited the Arabs to pilgrimage to it, a man from Kinana heard this news
Of course the Arabs were upset about him because he wants to compete with us in the Kaaba?
Who is this that wants to change our religion and the religion of our fathers and grandfathers?
A man from Kinanah entered Sana'a at night and out of his hatred for this church, he defiled it with filth.
He defiled the whole church, and when the people woke up in the morning, they entered the church and saw the filth.
They got angry and went to Abraha and said that a man from Kinanah did this and fled.
From the Arabs??
Abraha got angry and said, 'By God, I will destroy the Kaaba and what is upon it and I will erase it from existence.'
He had an army that the whole Arabs cannot resist.
He did not form an ordinary army but included elephants in the army that the Arabs had never heard of before.
Most of the Arabs had never seen an elephant at all and could not resist it.
He brought nine or thirteen elephants led by a great elephant named Mahmoud.
This elephant belonged to Abraha.
He gathered his army and soldiers, and the Arabs heard.
The Arabs were afraid because an army from Yemen had come to them along with the people of Abyssinia alongside the elephants.
Most of the Arabs were scared.
The army moved from Yemen to Mecca.
Some of the Arabs felt a surge of pride and wanted to fight.
Then a man from the noble of Yemen named Dhu Nafar stood up and brought out his group, and he had a small army.
He stood up to fight Abraha, but immediately the army was broken and Dhu Nafar was captured.
He was captured by Abraha, and he continued on his way, and on the road another army came.
It was led by a man named Nufayl ibn Habib al-Khath'ami who had a larger army.
So the army of Abraha fought and the army of the Arabs was defeated, and Abraha took him captive to guide him to Mecca
Until they reached Taif
As soon as they arrived in Taif, the chief of Taif came out, his name was Mas'ud Al-Thaqafi
He said, 'Wait a moment, O Abraha'
In Taif, they have the idol of Al-Lat which they circled around and worshipped
He said, 'O Abraha, this is not the Kaaba, the Kaaba is in Mecca and you are now in Taif'
He said, 'We will send with you a man to guide you to Mecca'
So they sent with him a man named Abu Rugal, who was a wicked man and wanted to lead Abraha to the Kaaba
But Allah did not give him what he wanted, so he died on the way
The Arabs stoned his grave for years every time they passed by it.
Abraha arrived with his army at a place called Al-Mughammis
They set up their camp there, and Abraha commanded his army to take the wealth of the people from the camels and sheep.
All the people of Mecca were afraid!
Who was the chief of Mecca at that time? Abdul-Muttalib!
They said to him, 'What should we do?' He said, 'We have no strength against this army; if we fight them, they will kill us'
Mecca is not prepared to fight Abraha and his army, so he told them to take what they could of your money and livestock and flee
As for Abdul-Muttalib, two hundred camels were taken from him
The news reached Abdul-Muttalib, who requested to meet Abraha
And Abraha sent a messenger to Abdul-Muttalib and told him that they did not come to fight them
For we built a church for you to visit in Sana'a, its name is Al-Qalis
So we do not want fighting or bloodshed
We have come to demolish this house because there is a better house than it
Abdul Muttalib requested to meet Abraha
He sent to Abraha that the lord of Mecca wants to meet you
He said bring him
He entered upon him and the people around him, and Abraha was on a chair
Abdul Muttalib entered, that tall and large man, into Abraha's tent while he was sitting on the chair
Abdul Muttalib sat on the carpet and suddenly Abraha got down and sat with him on the carpet
He did not like to be on the chair while the lord of Mecca was on the carpet
He said what do you want?
He said to him I came to ask you about two hundred camels that you took from me
When you entered upon me I honored you and thought you would speak to me regarding your religion and your god
But you spoke to me about the camels?
By God, I lost my interest in you when you spoke to me about the camels
Abdul Muttalib said to him: I am the lord of the camels and the house has a lord who protects it
This is the holy house of God and the house of His friend, if He is going to defend, then it is His house
And if He leaves it to Abraha, then by God, we have no defense against it
Then Abraha looked at Abdul Muttalib and lost interest in him
Then Abdul Muttalib said to him: this is the house of God and it will be protected from you
Abraha said to him it could not be possible, nor can anyone prevent me from demolishing the house
Abdul Muttalib said to him you are free, do what you want
He said as for the two hundred camels, I will return them to you, as for the house, I will demolish it.
Abdul Muttalib took the camels and marked them and put on them a sign and donated them.
He left them in the land and no one touched them, as if he dedicated them to Allah Almighty.
If anyone touches them, Allah will punish him with a punishment from Him.
Then Abdul Muttalib returned to the Kaaba and began to pray to Allah and seek His help against Abraha and his people.
The people around him said, what should we do?
When he finished his prayer, he told the people of Mecca to leave.
He said every person should take his family and wealth and disperse in the valleys among the mountains.
Abdul Muttalib knew that a great matter would happen.
This is the house of Allah and neither Abraha nor anyone else will be able to overcome it.
Abraha commanded the army and left from Al-Mughams and arrived at the valley of Muhassir where the elephant Mahmood knelt down.
And all the elephants knelt down.
Nufail ibn Habib approached the elephant when it knelt down and said to it in its ear.
Leave Mahmood, for you are in the sacred land of Allah, then Nufail ran away.
The elephant did not move.
It was struck but did not move.
They informed Abraha that the elephants do not move.
Abraha said strike them.
They directed Mahmood, the big elephant, towards Yemen and it walked.
They directed it to Shaam and it ran.
And when they directed it to Mecca, it knelt down
Whenever they directed it to Mecca and to the sacred place, it knelt down
And whenever they directed it to the north and south, it moved
What is the news? What is happening?
While they were in this situation, the army was confused and terror spread among them
Suddenly the sky began to darken in the middle of the day
From the sea came many great birds, so many that they blocked the rays of the sun
All the Ababil came from the direction of the sea
The army of Abraha is looking at the sky
Even the Arabs among the hidden valleys are looking at the sky
And behold, the sky is filling up
O God, how great are the birds that have filled the sky on the horizon
Great groups of these birds, and no one knows from where they come
Every bird has three stones
One stone in the beak and two stones in the feet
The birds came and covered the sky
Great groups, and behold, they throw the stones
The stones made of baked clay, they fell on the army of Abraha
Whenever one individual from the army was hit by a stone, his limbs would tear apart from his hand and foot,
and his body would start to decompose and tear until he dies.
The army began to flee, and people started to run away, and Abraha himself began to flee
They fled to the direction of Yemen
They flee and flee and some of them died on the way but the birds cought them
Until a small part of the army remained heading towards Yemen with Abraha
Abraha was punished by God and did not die quickly but his body began to decompose little by little while he was alive
He cried out in pain until his body was completely torn apart
Quraysh descended from the valleys with Abdul Muttalib seeing the corpses of Abraha's army
They saw that the Kaaba remained as it was and the Arabs heard about what happened
Quraysh and the people of Mecca's status increased and the Kaaba's sanctity increased among the Arabs
The incident of the elephant was mentioned throughout history, it was called the Year of the Elephant
It became a date among the Arabs
What will come after the Year of the Elephant is not like what came before it!
