0:16 hello friends I am the earth yes the
0:20 very planet you live on I would like you
0:25 to learn about a very sad part of me the
0:30 grown-ups call it the third world but
0:32 what they are really talking about is
0:38 all the poor countries in our world the
0:41 third world is in Africa Asia and Latin
0:44 America and when I see what is going on
0:48 over there I feel like crying they have
0:51 practically nothing and the children who
0:54 live there are having a really hard time
0:57 there is no food and they are starving
1:00 there are no schools and many can't read
1:00 or write
1:03 so can't prepare themselves for a better
1:07 future there are also no hospitals so if
1:10 someone falls ill there are no doctors
1:15 to help them get well and also lots of
1:18 people suffer awful violence from wars
1:22 and lack of water water which is a major
1:24 problem for the third-world countries
1:27 and at the same time we sadly give it
1:30 very little importance to when we want
1:33 water all we need to do is turn on the
1:36 tap but imagine if whenever you were to
1:38 need water you would have to go to a
1:42 river or a well far from your home well
1:44 that's what it's like in the third world
1:48 there are at 748 million people who
1:50 don't have running water in their houses
1:55 and our dirty hungry and thirsty it's
2:03 and do you know that the third world is
2:06 slowly turning into a large garbage site
2:10 many rich countries say the recycle but
2:12 they don't instead
2:15 they secretly send their electronic and
2:17 chemical waste to the third-world
2:22 countries this rubbish causes great
2:25 contamination damaging nature as well as
2:37 all living things but not all is lost
2:39 there are many things that we can still
2:42 do to help all the people especially the
2:45 children which live in the third world
2:49 it is very important to recycle leave
2:52 our wastes in the correct containers and
2:55 designated areas and what we don't need anymore
2:55 anymore
2:58 may well be of use to other people this
3:01 way they reuse our things and we
3:04 contaminate less there are also
3:07 organizations such as UNICEF Save the
3:10 Children and Red Cross who dedicate
3:12 themselves to helping people in the
3:15 third world they get food build schools
3:18 and hospitals and channel drinkable
3:21 water so that it can reach the houses
3:25 these organizations need our help though
3:28 we can collaborate by donating them a
3:32 bit of our money remember that a lot of
3:35 small coins can add up to real arge amounts
3:36 amounts [Music]
3:38 [Music]
3:41 we can also ask our families to help out
3:45 reminding them that nothing can make us
3:47 happier than making other people happy too
3:48 too
3:51 volunteers are people who dedicate part
3:54 of their lives helping others they are
3:57 real superheroes who through their work
4:00 and dedication are trying hard to create
4:03 a better world from here we say a big
4:07 thank you to all the world's volunteers
4:11 so my friends I hope all of you help us
4:14 end poverty in the third world and like
4:18 that create a happier and fairer planet
4:22 because as you know children can make a
4:24 world of difference [Music]
4:30 [Music] [Applause]
4:31 [Applause] [Music]
