an important technique
to write vat for your examinations for
essays for b schools is called the i t c
c rule the itcc rule talks about the
four components of var
where i stands for introduction
t for three points
c for a counter point and final c for a
conclusion which is flowing
synergistically with whatever logic you
have sewn up till now so
so
let us give you a small demonstration on
how you would like to use itcc framework
for a topic like
what are your views on gst now
now
in the beginning i want to tell you that
you may take a view for the topic or
against the topic
but so long as your logic and structure
is very solid your probability of
success is going to be very high so
let's give you two contrarian examples
case one you speak in favor of gst
so let's start with an introduction
and the introduction should be grand
philosophical which gives a broad overview
overview
for a nation of the size and stature of
india it's absolutely imperative that we
must attain not just social
and harmonious integration however
economic integration therefore it was
really the need of the hour that the
goods from one place to another across
the states could move seamlessly
through gst the government has ushered a
master stroke which will help realize
this entire dream of
one nation one tax structure
so i strongly believe that gst is highly
saluborous for the economy and there are
three reasons why i say so number one it
has eliminated the state related
barriers in the trade of goods and
services so you can produce anywhere and
sell anywhere across india without any
kind of differentiation or a penal tax
which was earlier there in the form of
central sales tax the second big reason
why i say so is it has made the taxation
system more transparent
therefore various malpractices avoidance
of tax have now been eradicated out of
the system or at least are on their way
out and third very important reason why
i support gst is that overall revenue
collection has showed up therefore state
is getting greater revenue and therefore
fiscal deficit is likely to eventually
be contained and this money can be used
for the welfare of the nation
there is no gain saying the fact that as
a counterpoint the procedural
implications of gst have been
challenging also a vast array of slabs
makes it at times slightly challenging
for the trade community however
these are the smaller issues which can
be tackled in an incremental way to make
the gst ever better so i sincerely
believe the gst
is an important taxation law which will
help india script its part to be a
global superpower
so this is we giving our opinion on gst
as predominantly positive
an introduction
three points in favor then a counter
point and finally a conclusion now let's
do exactly the opposite
let us take a view that gst has
challenges and limitations
so let's go as follows
our founding fathers envisage the
creation of a nation where
irrespective of whatever economic
prosperity we may accomplish it is
absolutely imperative that the society
must take care of the underprivileged so
there is
harmonious integration of the nation
in my sincere view the way gst has been
ushered and implemented leaves serious
challenges related to how it hits those
at the marginal segment of our society
there are three reasons why i feel gst
has serious limitations the first being
that it requires very massive
infrastructure and procedural
requirement on the part of a small
trader to be complying to the roots
this means that small traders small
manufacturers really have to create an
entire peripheral area of people team
who are filing in the returns and this
may be highly deleterious to their
feasibility the second reason is that
the overall taxation rate has eventually
got marginally increased thereby hitting
the small trading segment really badly
the third reason why i say so is that
although gst was meant to simplify by
one nation one tax it has only
complicated things by introducing
numerous slabs and often there are
certain asymmetrical structuring of slab
where inputs may be higher and output
may be tax lower
therefore i sincerely believe that gst
has certain serious facets which should
be worked on to make it better there is
no gain saying the fact that the thought
and the direction of integrating the
nation with one tax is very good however
i sincerely believe that the tax really
needs very fundamental reflection and
review before it can really deliver the
objective for which it was designed
so please use the i t c c framework and
write very powerful creative backs
