You're about to watch a proof of concept
for our upcoming
action comedy feature film
Nail House.
We did this to establish our entire
methodology for making this
film, from owning the set,
to pre-visualizing the action sequences,
to giving ourselves
more time to film than you'd
usually expect on a
small scale indie production.
Good action is hard to do.
And we want to do it good.
Play the video! I'll yap at you afterwards.
I know it, it's on the tip of my tongue.
Cold hands!
Kazoo?
I know this, I know this...
Harmonica!
13th word... three syllables.
Invest...
Invest... Investment!
I got it!
Rockstar chef turned traveling tramp
with an imaginary harmonica
and an incredible
investment opportunity!
Yes! - Yeah!
Boxcar Bill!
You and me - we're like this!
(laughing)
Now, I know a game of charades.
is an unconventional way
to open a sales pitch.
But what can I say?
I'm an unconventional guy,
which is why I've been riding the rails
all across this country,
searching for the fine flavors
that will inspire my new restaurant.
Hobu™, chef driven hobo cuisine.
And for just a small amount of seed money,
you can be a partner in this
lucrative dining enterprise.
Now then, who wants a taste
of this fine Hobu™ cooking?
It tastes like home.
This deconstructed mulligan stew
does have a great umami flavor.
Am I tasting cardamom?
No, Boxcar Bill,
That's the taste of opportunity.
Oh, what the heck? Count me in.
Yes.
Now, does this seed money get
me common or preferred stock?
Danny Wong!
Don Chang....
Took a long time to
track you down, Danny.
Don! Good to see you.
Uh, about your money,
we're in the middle of--
Nobody takes a loan
from the Mafiyakuziad,
skips town after bad
reviews tank his restaurant,
and survives.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on.
Uh...
Back off, buster.
We ain't afear'd of no
Asian fusion crime syndicate.
That's right. You mess
with one boxcar tramp,
you mess with us all!
Ha!
You boys really willing
to die for this swindler?
I bet that stew is made
from beans he swiped from you.
How dare you, sir?
My beans are right here in my--
[ Gasps ]
My beans!
Fellas, come on, let's not jump to any
bean-related conclusions.
My beans...
So...
Anyone up for another round of charades?
Pack it up, fellas.
Your beef was chewy.
What? No, it wasn't.
It was in the sous vide for--
He's all yours, Don.
Let's go, fellas.
No, Bill, don't go! Don't go!
They're gonna kill me, Bill!
Don, now that's just us.
Can we talk?
No more talk.
pweeeeeese
Try and keep up.
I'll kill you.
Oh, no! Oh, no! No! No!
Guys, let's just take a beat...
I don't wanna go to school.
I don't have any lunch money...
(screaming)
Whoa, hey, hey, hey, no,
no, no, no, hey, no, no!
Stop, stop, stop!
(screaming)
Look what you made me do, Don.
I killed a man in cold blood.
I'll do it again.
I'll kill you too.
Oh, it's gonna feel so--
Wait, wait, spare me!
Not for all the sushi in Sicily!
I can pay you back!
You have no money, Danny!
A vase, I can get you a vase!
A what?
A Ming vase! It's priceless.
Ming dynasty, huh?
Which period?
I don't know, the best one.
An authentic Xuande vase...
Hey guys, uh, are we good here or what?
24 hours, Danny.
You get me that vase
or you die real slow for wasting my time!
(screaming)
Hope you still got that vase, little bro.
Welcome back. The crowdfunding campaign
The crowdfunding campaign for Nail House
is up now at
nailhouse.film.
Crowdfunding!?
I knew it. Freddie talked his big talk
about coming back to YouTube only to
stick his hand out and milk the teat of
nostalgia for cash from his fans.
First of all...
Yeah!
Second of all, yes,
we're cooking up more videos.
It's not gonna be what you want.
It's gonna be what I want.
This is my channel.
And know this, dear viewer, even though
filmmaking is an elaborate, expensive
endeavor, we did not crowdfund our first
film, We're All Gonna Die.
In fact, Matt and I paid for that movie
entirely out of pocket. Why?
Zoom in. Zoom in on me.
Because I respect
your hard-earned dollar.
Just like The Boxcar Fight,
We're All Gonna Die was valuable experience and
intel. We got into South by Southwest.
We did an independent theatrical run. We
released digitally and on pirate networks
to answer the burning question at the
heart of cinema today.
How movies make money,
so me make more movies?
The Boxcar Fight was the result of the
sustained effort of a team of creative
craftspeople working tirelessly over
10 days in the winter of 2024.
Here's a two-hour
documentary that tells that story.
Okay, ready and action.
With this massive dark hole of a box, we gotta light this baby.
So today and tomorrow is pre-light, so we're getting our whole GE& team in.
They're gonna put all of the lighting gear all over the stage.
They're gonna start lighting the inside.
And what that's gonna do it's gonna help Yung and his team tomorrow when
they do a walkthrough, see if lights are falling on their head,
see if everything makes sense and looks good.
We're gonna have our whole camera up by tomorrow, and then they'll set up
all the lights on the outside and then we'll know what our box looks like
and then it'll become a train car.
And that's it.
And then we start shooting on Wednesday.
Okay. - And the focus motor...
It'll give you more voltage torque, and then...
A lot of moving parts.
What're you juggling in your brain right now?
Trying to think about what's coming tonight from Amazon.
I think I have all the cables I need for that.
So that's, the camera should be set.
So we'll be recording something on Wednesday.
That's how I go.
It's like, am I okay.
Well we have everything we need to just like record something.
Okay.
Cards?
Yes.
Camera.
Yes.
Lenses.
Yes.
Okay, good.
Battery's good.
Should be enough.
Uh, USB Fast charger.
The primary thing for like the directors to do is to like go through
the schedule with the AD and figure out the days, 'cause you know,
there's stuff that we have our own concerns or priorities on the schedule.
So once they do the first pass, we'll go through it with them.
And stunts.
...two, three, four, five...
Whatcha working on right now, Yung?
Uh, I'm shot listing
our whole action sequence 'cause we gotta break it down for, uh, our AD
Jordan to uh, basically schedule all our shoots. shot listing helps big time.
'Cause then everyone's on the same page, and then
Just keeping an eye on him, making sure he is not, he's not distracted, he's focused.
Look at that guy.
Look at that.
I got a breakdown of the choreography.
Uh, so right now I'm taking all that, transferring the information over
to another breakdown so that I can eventually start scheduling accordingly.
I'm creating a breakdown off of Yung's breakdown so that I can kind
of see like what cast members, who's playing, possibly what day, so
that I can actually start to schedule.
Because, you know, we have, um, we have different cast members,
but we also have two doubles.
So that's gonna be kind of the fun part, is figuring out what days and what times,
what beats, uh, do they need to come and, and actually, you know, play on the day.
So, uh, right now I'm in the very early stages of it.
It's really just making the breakdown and then I'll be able to look at it, digest it,
and then start building a schedule accordingly.
Takes a little spin.
I think I end up like this. - Yes.
No, I like, let your hands go from here.
3, 2, 1...
There you go.
No, I was okay.
I think the biggest lift is like G&E, who just unloaded like
a 3-Ton worth of lights.
We've got 15, 20 something lights that are gonna end up being all over the place.
So it's just like going through all the gear, making sure we have what we need,
thinking about the plan, talking about it with the Gaffer, Key Grip,
and our Swing just to make sure that what I made up actually works.
'cause they're the experts, you know?
And then for camera, you know, they're getting all of
Freddie's stuff, making sure it works.
And then we've got some rentals that we're gonna pick up to fill out everything else.
So it's just kind catching up and setting up.
And we'll see how much you can do today.
Do the rest tomorrow.
I'm gonna go pick up, um, six ballasts, 600 header cable, 12 ultra bounce.
Uh, Nicks bull-buh-nit's, two of them, extra header cables for the light mats.
Baby boom.
And a junior "nib?" (tbh no idea)
God speed.
Thank you.
And 3, 2, 1.
Action.
How'd that feel?
Good.
Yeah.
Acting.
I'll show you guys what it looks like.
Pretty excited because I was like, I did such a good job on the
hobo stove, like burning it up.
I'm putting oyster sauce on it so that it melts and gets
like weird stuff on the side.
I felt like I did a lot.
Came back with this little can, I walk in it's like...
A lot of people did a lot more stuff than I did.
I just made a can look nice.
A lot of people work down there really hard.
It doesn't feel that special what I did anymore.
Okay.
Block.
Block.
Again.
Bob.
Safety
first.
Be safe.
We stamping boxes today?
We'll see.
I'm still 50/50 on these stamps working.
We had a bad stamp experience yesterday.
The stamps were uneven.
I guess? They had like divots. - Yeah.
So when you stamped: All blotchy. And then we did, uh...
This is a great idea.
Whose idea was this?
And this is, Olivia... - Ooh, it's
Ah, right it was my idea -And then Olivia's idea
was to do stencils.
- God I'm so - Because the stamps didn't work.
Off the dome.
Just really brilliant.
See, filmmaking is about, um, creative problem solving
AHAA HAA HAA
Last day of prep before we start shooting.
So now's the time.
If you've got questions, you know, we'll let Matt and Freddie and the
team go through different beats.
And then when it seems like there's a good pause point, you know,
we'll open the floor to questions.
But now's the time to ask questions.
Don't hesitate no matter how big or small the question is.
'cause we wanna find the answers today or we wanna find out if
we don't know the answers yet.
Um, okay, great.
Awesome.
Cool.
Let's do it.
All right.
So most of this is action, but we'll just go through,
we'll go through piece by piece.
I'm gonna pay attention specifically to also the door.
'cause that changes a lot of the lighting.
Beginning of the scene is Freddie is sitting here, he's cooking stew.
Uh, our three hobo friends are arranged this way.
There you go.
Cool.
Um, they're playing charades. At one point,
You know, a lot of the scene kind of takes place in this arrangement.
At one point, Freddie kind of walks around as he's pitching...
Pitching my restaurant idea to these hobos.
Any questions about the arrangement?
Yes.
Placement of... - Also,
you can just pause me anytime.
Great.
I'll keep talking forever. - Absolutely.
Um, question for, like, oh yes, let's start.
Oh, you, you rose hand first.
It's me me me me me - You got it.
Real like... real like English teacher
energy right now, right?
So I noticed you mimed sitting.
Are you gonna be on the floor or do you need a stool?
We want, um, you were gonna bring - I have some, um, like
Home Depot, five gallon buckets.
Like paint buckets.
Paint bucket type of thing.
I'll bring them, I'll bring them later today.
Yeah.
Let's bring them today. - Okay, great.
Are those like they need to be greeked or anything? They need to be done
to them prior to being on camera?
I think the greeking will be
we rotate it until you can't tell that it's a Home Depot bucket.
Sold
The cardboard flexing is because that line is exactly where the cardboard is.
Well, and it's the cardboard ridge.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Which even if it was flat, you're gonna get from that ridge.
The ridge. - Let's see...
It being like this, like, thick rubber
as opposed to like felt-y.
Yeah, it's not the move.
LOLA,
like "Lasers Over Los Angeles"
These are laser cutters.
Okay.
And what they could do is, you know, they do, they say it is like about a day we
can ask them to be like, can we do this?
Yeah.
They can do balsa, they do wood paper products, you know.
So maybe we just put in acrylic and balsa.
Yes, do both.
Yeah, both.
And see.
Can you give 'em a call? - Yeah, I'mma call
Be like "here's what we got," and also
And then, you know, we have all the Illustrator files.
The conclusion here is that
spray paint kinda situation's the way to do it
Difficulty of course, is that a stencil
requires us to, uh,
make a stencil.
So we made some outta paper, which you can see here.
However, uh, we need, uh, a little more rigidity to this 'cause to get it sharp.
So I'm just going into the Illustrator file and, uh, just making it
Very basic illustrator, you know, pathfinder, cut out some stuff.
We got some folks here in LA, some laser cutting guys
we're gonna rush order one.
Show me like a 10 or something.
That's 10. - Let's dial everything to camera because
That kind of works as...
And it's not, it's not as steep.
And it might just be one on this side.
Yeah. Mmhmm.
And for when the wall is here, one on this side, but it coming further out this way
- Is helpful for... - It can actually help.
Because like, I'm just thinking, for example, dialogue day, they're all here.
Oh yeah, you're right.
Yeah.
So it's maybe just the sides from that top side kind of coming in.
Yeah.
Where it might spill...
How tall is the Don? - He's like to here.
So if we could have it cut just to...
I mean it depends... how are you trying to
Is it, you know, malicious? Are you
trying to have shading on the... - It can kind of cut a little bit into
Yeah.
But if it comes down to about here-ish.
It's not a line, but...
Yeah.
Something like that.
Y'know we have duvetyne that we can
easily clip up.
That's perfect.
That is, that was great.
That looked pretty good.
That was literally... everything about that one was perfect.
Yeah.
The timing, the placement.
Another thing that's happening is that he's running straight at it.
So the light isn't changing on him.
It's not too much.
It's like if you look really just on the concrete
It's just at the very, very end. - It's right at the very end, basically.
We have stunts,
VFX, camera all working together.
This is where you get the more complexity and the fun shots.
It takes planning, it takes time.
Takes coordination, but hopefully it'll look good in the end.
3, 2, 1, action.
The timing of this is hard because basically he's gotta...
We can't go... if we go too soon,
then it wouldn't make any sense.
So he's, he's gotta make sure that it's in line close enough so
it makes sense that it's the door hitting him and it's not the air.
But that's why Cameron and... Jordan and Cameron are brothers.
So this is the perfect gag for brothers to do.
And action.
Yeah,
I think that works.
It very much gets there.
And then, and then all I'm doing is connecting the bottom part
basically back to his pants. - Mmhmm, yeah.
And we could even, I think, even tape it so you can actually move
and then just literally touch it.
Just, woompfh.
Okay, so...
How are we styling your hair?
I think it's pretty naturalistic. - Okay.
It is basically kind of how it falls.
Maybe, uh, honestly, I don't know if there's really
much that you can put in it. - I was like should we put product in it?
No,
because my, my guy's supposed to be like riding the rails and like
Right, but that's what I mean to like, make it look
A little crazier?
Grungier.
And reveal!
Action.
I love it.
Oh yeah.
There we go.
That's acceptable.
How many more to go?
A lot.
As if we don't have 50 million boxes.
Yeah.
Freddie, we got it.
This is the danger zone.
This is good.
This is good.
This is what we're gonna have to do though.
We're gonna get one of the huge... I have to sit inside the box
In the wall. - What?
And we're gonna do two, two holes lower.
'cause we just tested it with Yung. Here, I'll show you.
Hey, there we go.
So, um, hey everybody.
Welcome to day one of Nail House.
Um, my name is Jordan.
I'm your first AD. Uh, welcome, welcome.
Thank you all for being here.
Woo.
Um, I'll do some big picture stuff to start.
Um, this is a very, very, very action stunts heavy
shoot that we are working on.
Um, you can already see how tight the space has gotten.
Um, we've got a lot of boxes, a lot of moving parts.
Um, I'm just gonna ask everybody: no running, we're walking slow.
Watch your steps.
If you're going around a blind corner, call corners, you know, um,
but I really, really, really wanna make sure that we're safe on this.
Um, absolutely no rushing.
If, if it starts to get a little too chaotic, I'm just gonna
kind of like slow us all down.
Maybe like, just have everybody hold the work for a minute just to reset.
'cause that's when people get hurt.
And we do not want that.
We do a little thing that's sort of inspired by the, uh, Hong Kong filmmaking
tradition, which feels very apt because we're kind of pulling a lot of action
cues from Hong Kong cinema here.
And this is a tradition that feels like it's kind of on the way out
a little bit as the Hong Kong film industry starts to wane a little bit.
But we've tried to keep it alive here.
So I present to you a... very shoddy, but! This is our offering to the
sort of, Cinema God, so to speak.
In the Hong Kong tradition, it's to the... what is it the God of?
It's the God of like... - Good luck?
It's like luck, fortune.
Anyone who's listening, more or less.
So what we do is you cover the cameras and this is what, what they do over there.
You cover the cameras in a red cloth.
And the reason why is specifically to bless the cameras to try and keep it free
from, uh, at the time what film defects, uh, hairs in gate, whatever, you know.
So this is our version of that here.
So, yeah, I got a little, little incense, little offering to
the Gods of Cinema, as it were.
And, uh, let me just say first and foremost the thing
that we care the most about.
Please, please, please, please nobody get hurt.
Nobody get hurt on this one.
Everyone gets out okay.
No injuries, please.
Because that for us is the most important thing.
'cause we're just making movies.
We're just having fun here, but it's not worth getting
hurt over, uh, over this stuff.
So let's, first and foremost, safety, uh, a, a good shoot, smooth shoot,
no technical errors, uh, and that the problems that we face are manageable and
we do so with grace, humor, and humility.
Everybody, thank you so much for helping us out and for being a part
of this, and now the ceremonial unveiling of the tools of our trade.
Ahhhh!!
Thank you everybody.
Let's have a good week here.
Um, this is option one for you to also see, since you're sitting here.
This is for Don.
Yeah, I like it.
What's that?
Oh, nothing, he's just excited about the stickers.
Oh, perfect.
Okay.
It looks legit.
Okay, great.
Just go nuts.
Alright.
Variety.
Yeah.
Sometimes stickers.
I would say... - I love that direction.
I would say just every box should have at least one thing on it.
Like any box that has one, go ahead and like put a QR code also.
Okay.
Occasionally, like I just think the only one that we're
sparing is just like: "Fragile."
Just doing like, I'd say like 1 out of like 10 or something.
Okay.
Sound and, uh, slate question.
Okay.
All right.
Here's our order for it.
Yeah.
Uh, sound guy's essentially responsible for...
He's on his, um, mixer device.
We'll be rolling out, uh, the numbers. Um, feels to me
like we should just go Day and Sequence, right? - Mmhmm.
So we'll do...
Sequence number and then we just advance takes
We hear roll cameras.
We call out 1-1, 1-2, whatever it is.
So that camera microphones pick it up and sound guys
pick up and then we just, anyone claps.
Just clap.
Yeah. - Okay.
This particular shot, right?
Would have Don.
Yeah, we should POV that shot.
So I just realized I had the same thought, which was, well
he's back there the whole time.
I actually think we should just use Jordan.
I think Jordan, he sees Jordan close it.
And then like, and that POV brings him to the other guy because you guys are there.
And then, and we'll just put Don double in the background.
Like, Don, I feel like Don doesn't even...
Don doesn't get his ****in'
Don doesn't walk up here.
Don's back here.
Okay. - Yeah.
How's that, Matt?
Yeah.
Everyone feel good?
Oh, awesome.
Set.
Any reason not to shoot?
Nope.
Let's do it.
Okay, everybody picture is up.
Let's roll sound and camera.
Sound speeds.
Camera speeds.
1-1, take one.
There it is.
And when Cameron calls set.
Rolling, rolling quiet all around please.
Set.
Everyone settle please.
And action.
That's a cut.
Great.
Cut, cut.
Hey, look at that.
Alright guys, first shot.
Matt, can we uh,
land a little more at the center?
Yeah. - Because it feels like we're
here versus, like, right down the barrel.
It feels like we're here.
We wanna be like right down the barrel of it.
Yeah, yeah.
We can set up and just start center.
Yeah.
And...
action.
Cut.
Great.
That's it.
Let's move on.
Crushed it, Jordan.
It's moving.
Got our first shot off.
It was fun.
Let's do it again.
Pictures up.
You wanna do two rehearsals?
Two rehearsals, and then I'm gonna go off of you.
Yep.
And cameras?
Sound speeds.
"A" speed.
Hopefully it'll teeter off at the beginning.
"B" speed.
Two rehearsals first.
Yep.
And...
Cameras set.
Ready?
All set.
And 3, 2, 1.
Action.
Okay.
Little less, little bit of a beat? - Little less.
Yeah.
Yeah, gotcha.
3, 2, 1...
That's good.
Good?
Yeah.
That's it.
You like that?
Yeah, we're ready.
Cool.
Ready?
Okay.
1-7, take one.
1-7-1.
Ready and 3, 2, 1, action.
The conditioning was very, very important.
Yeah, has this... is shooting easier than training?
Way easier.
But also the big thing is just the cardio level that I'm at right now.
Oh yeah.
Cardio.
Let me get, let me, lemme just pump this up.
Go ahead.
Keep talking about cardio, Freddie.
I'm just at a crazy good cardio level right now compared to where I was before.
It's gonna lose pressure.
You know that right?
I'll just get close.
Lemme check it.
Matt.
going,
Matt's going into the danger zone.
Go...
Go to your home.
No way, dude. - Because I got the little...
No. Way. Dude.
I got a little thing for my hands.
No way.
No! Matt!
It's just enough.
Got my two.
I'm getting outta here.
And then my hands... closing up.
Guys, we're actually getting pretty close to this.
We are putting our director in the box - And then I need the hand holes.
Alright guys, pictures up.
Let's go ahead and roll sound and cameras.
Sound speeds. - "A" speed.
Sorry, I'm just trying to find where my hands are in here.
"B" speed.
1-9-1. And
And when cameras are set, Yung will call it.
You guys good?
Set, set! - Set.
Ready! And! 3, 2, 1.
Action.
Cut!
That's a cut.
I feel like that looked good.
It looks pretty good.
That looked pretty ****in' food - Yeah.
Thank you.
Did it look okay?
Do I gotta do another pump?
Hold on Matt, come take a look at this.
You gotta bring me the monitor, Freddie.
Just get out real quick.
Nah.
Ready.
And
3, 2, 1. Action.
Good.
Good?
That's a cut.
That was good?
I think that was it.
That was nice. Lens got a little splash...
I think the one is actually better.
The one is, yeah.
Definitely better.
Oh yeah, that was great.
That was great. - Hell yeah.
Okay, great.
Alright guys, let's go ahead and make things safe.
And then that's lunch.
As it is, he avoids the punch
that causes the water.
And even there is like, he kind of tumbles like, right?
I imagine like he's up against the back wall.
No.
'cause here's 'cause here's why.
'cause originally it was without the water.
I pushed away from Vinny and I just go this way.
I'm not going backwards.
I'm going "huah" and then I'm pushing
Sure, but looking at what we have now, it's like you roll off
Based on... it makes sense.
And, and logically it makes sense.
But in the, in the way we've shot it so far, you won't clock that
we're that against the wall. - Yeah, yeah.
I'm just thinking the next shot.
What's the most dynamic thing?
Which is like seeing Freddie after the punch. - I should spin
up and then just come
I mean you just, that's my point is like, you just going like...
Huhh!
That's not like... - I know what you want.
Like this.
Like, Freddie...
What's better?
Alright.
Or...
Okay, I get, I get what you're looking for.
Could we... - Like, right?
like, you rolled away from Vinny.
Yes.
I get what you're looking... - Yeah.
So what if he goes into the boxes but comes forward?
Yeah I think he like pushes himself off.
All it is is that when I come up, I just chip off the back, you know, I kind
of like bump off the back and I... - Yeah.
Two or three steps in front of the boxes.
It's just that the wall now is just, it's impact into the wall
and then here we're overlapping.
I know what you're saying
you want like the hit as he hits the wall.
Yeah as he hits the wall - Which I think we'll still get.
Yeah, yeah. Okay.
Alright.
Yeah.
Action, rehearsal.
Okay.
Yeah.
"Try to keep up" I like "try to keep up."
Try to keep up!
Yes that's what you say when you put it down.
Big mistake.
Try to keep up.
It's one of these, it's like...
Heh. Try to keep up.
Yeah.
That's the second one.
Yeah.
First one is...
"Big mis..."
"Big mistake."
Yeah, yeah.
I'm outta breath.
If y'all good, we're ready to shoot. - Alright let's do it.
I think right when you feel it land
You go, "big mistake."
Okay, okay.
Really milk the...
You're barely holding your hand like
almost like you're about to go down to your side.
Okay, okay.
Okay, last one.
More energy on your swinging Freddie.
That's from Yung.
Don't disappoint Yung.
What's my call?
Uh, 2-5-5 - 2-5-5
3, 2, 1. Action.
Big mis...
mistake.
Cut.
What the ****.
It's also pretty hot in there, and all the haze.
I'm woozy though.
Yeah, yeah.
Have you been hydrating today? - I haven't.
Okay.
We'll holler if you need anything, but just take a beat.
Mm-hmm.
And we'll check in you in a little bit.
Why do they make Pepto Bismol chewables?
These are awful.
They're awful.
We don't know if he's got food poisoning
or if he's just feeling a little woozy or
he's got a little stomach bug.
He said he dry heaved and then he felt better and
he looked better for like, two minutes and then he started looking bad again.
We'll try to do everything without Freddie for now and just see
if he can be okay at the end of the day.
He just needs one more swing.
We need him for a lot more. - Yeah.
For the next two weeks.
Um, that sounds great.
Poor Freddie.
Yeah, he's sick so I'm hoping it's like a food poisoning situation.
Not that I wish food poisoning upon anybody, but a food poisoning situation
means you feel better immediately after.
I don't know if everybody, you throw up and have a bad
time and then you feel better.
Damn.
He also prayed to the Gods!
Yeah dude.
And then they, and then they just gave him food poisoning?
Damn, dude.
He mentioned the food.
He mentioned food.
You gotta be specific.
He did say, he did say nobody get hurt and like I feel tummy hurt counts.
Yeah.
Damn.
Hey, you know what?
Hey. you know what the luck is though?
That happened after we got all of his shots.
That's true.
So that is lucky.
That is a blessing.
Yeah.
The Gods can't stop him from getting food poisoning, but they can...
Hold it off.
Hold it off!
That's what happened actually.
They were helping him.
Yeah.
You getting kicked today?
I am getting kicked today by the legendary Suo Liu!
Told him it's an honor to be receiving the kick from him today.
Hey, Cameron, I'm sorry.
Love you, Suo.
I love you too.
This is how... I'll show you how much I love you.
Respect.
I'll show you
3, 2, 1.
Action.
Let's do that one more time.
That's a cut.
You good?
Okay.
You alright, Cameron?
We're good.
I was talking to Yung.
I was like, he's... you've trained him for months.
He's in peak physical condition.
All to be thwarted by a...
I don't know what it is, but it's so ****ing
It's so ****ing bad.
Yeah dude, that sucks.
I'm sorry.
Go home.
All right.
So what's the... My laptop is here.
We'll leave it here
You're fine.
Just go home.
I have no concerns.
You need a ride?
We have a, we have a, we have a system in place.
No, I have my car.
It's fine.
I just need a...
We need a back up the footage from today.
Okay.
Bring me one of the drives.
I mean, isn't Nate on DIT?
Can he just
No, because I have a, my, my hard drives at home, right?
My, my.
Don't worry about it.
We'll find a way to back up drives.
Okay.
Go home.
Go to sleep. - Just go to your car.
Your keys are in there.
Are you sure you don't...
Yeah.
Walk to your car.
Are you sure you don't want a ride?
Sure you can drive home?
Yeah, yeah.
It's something though because all my aches are amplified.
And he has his phone?
Huh? - Does he does he have his phone?
I don't have my phone.
Where's your phone?
It was...
I didn't have it.
I only had his wallet.
It's on the set somewhere.
Okay.
We'll find it.
Anyway, it was only one shot that we owe you for.
We'll just do that shot tomorrow.
Assuming you're fine.
Sorry, buddy.
No, don't be sorry.
You're ****ing sick.
I dunno what the **** this is.
Hopefully it's just
like a 24-hour stomach bug or something.
Do you want take your water bottle home with the blanket?
That's me.
No, I'm just looking for his phone.
It's my jacket.
That's your jacket? - You looked cold!
I was. - I could, yeah.
Thank you so much.
Yeah.
Your phone's probably on silent, right?
Yeah.
Like a true professional: on silent.
Unfortunately, when your phone's on silent means it's impossible
for people to find it for you.
No.
Oh my God.
Where? Whoaa!
It was on set?
Was it in your pocket, Matt?
I'll take it.
I guess it was on set.
Was it in your pocket?
It was on set.
Matt!
It was on set.
You...!
In a very dark spot.
Olivia.
Come on!
Alright.
Look.
It was in my pocket.
I knew it.
It was in my pocket.
Was it really?
It was.
These guys,
I tell youse what
I wouldn't wanna mess with these guys.
3, 2, 1. Action.
Cut.
Good.
That's a cut.
All right.
Thank you everybody.
Yep.
That's it.
All guys, that is a wrap on day one.
Thank you everybody on everybody.
Thank you so much.
We only had to rush at the very at the last shot.
Only last shot.
Ey not so bad.
Cool.
Yeah.
Not so bad.
Only one shot rushed.
Yeah.
Freddie made it home.
Oh, good.
Josiah,
That was a dope shot.
Yeah, I think it'll work.
Yeah it looked so ****ing good.
We'll see it in the edit
but I think it looked good.
It's also how we shot it
It's gonna look great.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Good day, good day.
So it's day two, the train car sequence,
and super fun story.
We've got a stomach bug.
Um, just barreling its way through
the guts of our cast and crew.
Day started with basically phone calls from multiple people being like
this person's out, or this person's okay.
Uh, so Vinny, our Mafioso and Jordan, our Yakuza both out.
So fun. Seems like it's hitting stunt team the hardest.
Um, 'cause Freddie was feeling ill yesterday, Freddie, thankfully,
after a few phone calls, uh, answered and says he's doing.
He wants to come in, he's doing better.
Uh, let's, let's see how that goes.
But he is coming in, um, sounds like it's like kind of a short 12 hour thing.
Who knows?
Uh, but everyone's masked up.
We're, we're kind of doing like.
COVID days, you know, everyone's encouraged to hydrate,
stay very hygienic, wash our hands.
Um, stay super, super on top of it.
Um, we're trying to contain the spread.
Uh, Olivia, our Production Coordinator, Carson 1st AC, are also both out.
Um, but we're gonna make do with what we got and we're gonna
reassess what we can do today.
Um, sounds like it can still be a full day, thankfully, but we're
gonna, we're gonna find out soon.
All right.
Next time, Freddie, you got a budget for a shaman.
'cause I, I think you, that, that, ceremony. - ****.
I ****ed that up.
No, dude, we didn't have a bowl this time and just like a
side of chips. - I did, yeah we did!
No, dude.
It's just oranges on the table on the chips.
I had a bowl.
That's my own bowl.
No, no, no.
For the food.
I know you had the bowl for the incense - I did!
No, I'm saying for the full movie dude, people are gonna,
we gotta go for the full movie.
We're like budgeting.
So people like, they think there's a set and we reveal and it's like a whole shrine
and we're like, we failed last time.
We must....
We must give more sacrifice.
We gotta give more to the offerings for the Gods next time.
Next time not a foldout table.
Yeah.
Fritos!? - We have to go all out.
is what Matt was saying.
They did not accept Fritos when
When we do the, when we do the full thing.
Yeahyeahyeah
We make it big
Oak table.
A Peking duck - We'll get golden.
Yeah.
Peking duck.
Golden...
Golden bowls.
It's gotta be a
Big full pig.
Full pig. - Yeah.
Jordan,
how you doing?
Good, how about you?
How are you feeling?
I'm all right.
Feeling better?
Big old hand full of Gatorade.
Every right here's feeling good.
That's why you're still here, right?
That's why we're here. - Alright.
If you don't feel good, let somebody know.
Don't push through it.
That includes you, Freddie.
Alright.
So it'll be a little bit of an odd day because we're kind of grabbing lots
of shots that don't have a bunch of our actors in there, so bear with us.
Um, right now is a little bit more like block shooting.
We're gonna be shooting a lot of stuff at this ladder.
We beanin' Freddie?
Yeah.
And these edges really hurt.
I mean, they're pretty solid, just like... Right?
They're still there.
So, you know, he's been taking punches, but he hasn't been taking boxes.
Safety. Here we go.
Freddie. - Yeah?
Oh, cool.
This is gonna be where you throw your box.
And you can chuck it.
I got it.
So once he throws the box, is there gonna be a cue for the remainder?
Or is it just gonna be... - Yung, Yung will start.
for the timing.
Amazing.
Right. - Okay.
And then you guys can
Once you see Yung throw, start throwing.
Yeah see what happens.
And then we'll see
We can fix it later.
If we need to. - Let's freestyle.
Let's just throw it first.
Yeah, we'll give it a shot.
My throw is, I'm getting this and I'm going right into there.
There you go.
Alright.
10-1, take one.
10-1-1.
I love how the crew comes together for a wonderful moment
like throwing boxes at Freddie. Let's do it.
All right, we good?
Um, Art -
Boxes set?
Set.
Camera's set?
Set. - Set?
Watch the boom with the boxes. - Ready?
Yeah.
I gotcha.
Everybody good?
Settle.
And 3, 2, 1.
Action.
Oh way faster than that.
Oh,
You alright?
Cut.
Freddie, are you all good?
Oh my gosh.
Alright, let's go another one.
You sure you're good, Freddie?
Reset boxes please.
Let's, uh,
I think all at once, yeah?
All at once.
Throw!
Cut.
That looks great.
That was good.
Tired.
Yeah.
You should just rest in between, man.
Yeah.
And we just line it up with Cameron.
What you can do is... - Nah, I'm okay to line it up
You can tell us everything we did wrong
tomorrow when you feel better, all you can look at what Yung and I did
You can be like...
But don't think about it now.
You just rest.
Just rest for now.
I'm okay.
I just, I'm just, I got a protein shake that I'm gonna hit later.
Like, I just need to get fuel in me.
Yeah.
Make sure you're drinking lots of water.
I am.
Fluids nonstop.
Well, no, no, no.
I'm okay on the fluids front, no fluids noted.
No, fluids aren't... have you peed?
Yeah.
When's the last time you peed?
This morning.
This morning?
Be peeing every hour.
You're not supposed pee every HOUR!
Push through fluids.
You gotta push.
You're not supposed to pee every...
Not normally, but when you're super sick
and you're trying to push trhu all your fluids, just drink drink drink drink drink
I did all that last night.
Drink, drink, drink.
It doesn't take five hours, Freddie.
You gotta keep doing it.
This makes no sense.
I know.
Okay.
3, 2, 1. Action.
Okay, cut.
That's a cut.
Freddie come watch.
Yeah.
I was even thinking... edge of box.
Like into Freddie maybe?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like have Freddie off frame, before touch might be the way momentum-wise.
No, it needs to be thrown at me.
It needs to be like pushed at me hard.
Yeah. - Yeah.
It doesn't read.
We gotta chuck it.
Yeah. - Yeah.
Chuck it at him.
Let it press into your chest and then catch.
It'll be easier.
Okay.
Instead trying catch it earlier.
Got it.
But it's gonna send you way more.
You're gonna run it into me?
I'm... yeah.
I'm basically pushing it into you.
Because then you'll feel the weight.
Can I just see you there for the mark?
And... yup.
Just be doing that until he gets it.
And 3, 2, 1, action.
Is that okay?
Okay? - Yeah.
Come watch it. Both of you.
That felt strong.
Yo.
You trying to kill him?
You alright? - Yeah.
So what do you think of just getting into you?
So you're never stationary. - Yeah, yeah.
Let's do one more where we, so we're going to be almost.
Off Freddie, just a touch.
And then come in so that it's always moving.
Oh, wait.
You don't have to act, you just... - Back to one.
Are you good for one more, Freddie?
Yeah, of course.
All right.
Set.
And 3, 2, 1, action.
Okay, one more.
Right away.
Everybody starting in the same spot.
Go back to where you were.
I'm just gonna make quick adjustments.
Braxton, you're good.
Yung, take one more step back.
Okay, oh.
Yep.
And then what we're gonna do is on 3, 2, 1, you start
just a touch before I say action.
Okay.
Can we do "go," it's easier for me to...
3, 2, 1, go? - Yeah, yeah.
3, 2, go, action?
Okay, 3, 2, 1, go.
Great.
All right.
Ready?
Thanks.
3, 2, 1, go.
Cut.
That was it.
That's a cut. - That's a good one.
Good?
Alright.
Okay.
What's scarier, Vinny or Yung with a box?
I'll tell you the box.
the first time Yung did it, I got in the head and I got a little white flash.
Oh, shit.
I was like, wow, that box is going fast.
Honestly, the box isn't bad it's, it's the slam in the back because you,
you get jostled.
Yeah.
And it's also that...
That ledge.
That's why you have that back pad.
I know.
Even with the back pad, it still hurts.
You still feel it. - Yeah.
That's his full 180 pounds at velocity increases the weight
that's impacting his back.
So...
This is better than a gobo arm.
Whose legs are those?
Yeah.
Perfect.
Wow.
Perfect.
Can you make them walk?
Sure.
Walk.
Yeah, Annissa.
Walking
Oh yeah.
That looks so insane. - There we go.
Shuffle!
I put a sock on a pool noodle and put the pants on.
Amazing.
Yeah.
Yeah that's perfect.
3, 2, 1. Action.
Good.
That was the one. That was the one.
Good foot acting. - Perfect.
Woo.
That's a cut.
How you feeling?
Not good?
No, no, just tired.
Yeah.
Well that's, you know, tired's not good.
Every time I ask if he's feeling good
He's like, I'm tired
It's usually a sign of not being good.
What a day.
Oh man.
What a day, dude.
I can't believe we got this. - It's such non-traditional...
It's been odd days.
Yeah.
It's not that weird with Freddie being the actor, but Freddie
leaving halfway through yesterday.
Yeah.
Today, no stunts.
And then like Freddie was pretty much out of it for the first half.
Yeah.
He was out of it this morning.
Yeah.
And complete schedule change.
Pretty much going against the entire way we were planning on shooting this,
which was more or less linearly.
Yeah.
In the flow, we were just grabbing random shots all over the place.
I think that's part of filmmaking though.
Oh, always.
It's... you never know.
It's always the most random stuff happens.
But your'e right, I do think in a weird way, we got
We got through a bunch of stuff that would slow us down.
slow down other days.
It's probably not the worst thing that we just
got them all out here.
Yeah.
We just have to make the other days go.
So we should definitely, if we want to get everything done, we should be
getting, I'd say, closer to like 20, 25 shots a day is what we should be at.
This was slow.
Like this is not the pace we should be at.
This is normal.
Well, we started cranking when I was in there.
This is normal.
This is why those movies cost $200 million though.
Yeah.
Or even indie films.
That's why they cost $20 million.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Which is irresponsible at this day in age for, especially for us.
Uh, hey PA nation, uh, whenever you're done with your current task, let's
just do like a wipe down of surfaces just to, you know
keep people safe from getting sick again.
So we'll do that...
We've already shot this, so yes
I'm just pulling up everything that we're gonna shoot today in the third line.
Usually a shot list, you can just, it's easier 'cause you're like, it's
an OTS during this dialogue scene, but an action scene, it's like.
Your shots are like quarter a second to half a second long and they're
just not, you can only do " 3/4s angle on guy as he punches"
Next shot is, it is nonsense.
It's just, it's too hard to track.
So it's just, honestly, it's just easier to just show everybody
the shot that we're doing.
Everything that's red is the stuff that we've shot and then the stuff we're
gonna do that day, we just bring up to the third layer so it's easy to find.
And then luckily today, yesterday was kind of all crazy, but today, more or
less, we're just gonna shoot in order.
So we should more or less just be jumping along the top line here and just
going from shot to shot to shot.
Is the idea.
Ready!
And 3, 2, 1.
Action.
Cut!
Hey that was great.
Now let's go build a... - A wall!
Big wall.
We're gonna build a Kool-Aid Man wall.
Build the wall!
Probably like right here?
Yeah.
Right here.
A wall of boxes as high as we get up to, up to here, thick.
Two thick.
That they're gonna just blow through, alright?
Two thick.
You know one thing about adult LEGOs?
You know what adult LEGOs are?
Just Legos.
Just Legos!
At this point...
You got it.
They're Lincoln Logs.
For this one, fellas, I think you're gonna wanna make sure to also...
Thank you, Alyssa.
That's a true, that's a true art department.
We don't want too thick.
Every time you sweat her, she does the sweep up.
I better take care of this.
Got it.
Yeah.
You also wanna make sure your feet are kind of clearing
it too, so you don't get, you know
Got it, yeah.
And this one, they should run as close
as a group together
As much of a group on this one if possible. - Got it.
uh, to the light.
Okay.
So we're still going.
But one thick.
Not too deep.
One row.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm worried about the big one on top.
That might be... hit someone.
Yeah this one's too heavy.
That's a good point.
More little ones will be more, uh...
This area
I'm gonna get other little... - Okay.
These ones are great.
Okay.
One, one there.
Oh, there you go.
Those two are good.
Yeah.
Go and load this up in a place that's gonna get there.
Let's get this in the foreground.
Oh, here we go. Gimme this.
I'm gonna staple this.
There we go.
Bigger box stabilizing.
Alright, everyone to our ones. - Alright, this looks good to me!
Let's roll it up.
You guys good?
Let's go.
Alright, baby. - Crash through it right?
Crash through it.
Do I say "Oh yeah?"
Oh yeaaaaah!
Ready? - Set.
And 3, 2, 1.
Action.
I have a, I have an alt angle on this.
Yeah, I think the boxes start a little further back.
Yeah, I think this one, I have another angle from further back.
Zoomed in on this. Like punched in from like the corner. Like full 75.
You think like, we'll do another one. - Yeah, yeah.
This one's good.
I mean it's pretty good.
That's pretty ****ing good already.
You wanna do one more, or no?
Let's do one more just for performance.
Alright, going again.
Right before they hit it
I think I'll, I give them some, uuargh, all right.
Like some, some - Yeah.
Building the wall.
Camera set?
Set!
Stunts set?
Set.
All right.
And...
3, 2, 1. Action.
Cut. - Yeah, that's a cut.
Yeah that ruled.
That ruled. Let's move on, yeah?
Yep.
More about the head being wsssh
Just getting down as fast as possible.
So he doesn't need to do flat back.
If only this in frame.
He can do, I mean, whatever he feels more comfortable with,
but yeah, that's pretty much it. - Yeah that's it.
That won't be flat back. - Yeah yeah yeah.
He says he'll do a full flat back.
No, no, not, not..
No, not that.
But for me, I want speed down, straight down.
It's all about the acceleration downwards.
Okay, okay.
Quick as you can.
And your head snap - very, very important.
Now, because of this,
Watch your head.
Okay, do you want taco?
No. - No taco.
It's not because you can't... because taco, you'll lose speed.
It's about speed. - Okay.
It's a hard reaction on your head.
Okay, just A to B.
Yes. - Okay, got it.
We're gonna lose you and we're gonna go with...
Okay. Oh, I see.
So i you do a taco, we'll never catch you.
I see what you're saying.
Okay, cool - Yeah.
Got it.
Taco.
Let's roll it up.
Sound speed.
Camera speed.
7-4-1.
Ready!
And...
3, 2, 1.
Action.
Back to one!
Still rolling
Yeah.
I got it.
Same thing. Same thing I got you.
Still rolling, resetting.
Jordan?
Yes.
Very good.
You led, but then you were a little
faster than everybody else. - Copy.
Keep the same pace with everybody.
So keep up with them - Copy.
You were just a little ahead.
Copy.
Ready.
Braxton, you may need to give a little more speed to get on Jordan.
Right, and!
3, 2, 1, action.
That's it. - That was good.
Beautiful, cut! - That's it!
Jordan, you good?
Yeah?
That was perfect.
Okay.
Set? - Set.
Stunts set, and...
3, 2, 1. Action!
That's a cut.
Good, good.
Ooo, I heard that.
Let's watch playback before we
get the new box.
All right.
Watching playback, resetting the box.
Did I get you in the face?
No, it's good.
Yeah, we're good. - Ah, I'm sorry.
Did it hit you in the face?
No, I actually went ****in' face first.
Right into the shit.
A lot harder than you thought.
That was like... that thing's hard. - Yeah.
It didn't crumple at all.
That's probably why it looks so good.
I was like, damn dude that looked good on camera.
That was real. You really did it. - It sells.
Pretty good. - It was real.
That's pretty good.
****, I mean it's a pretty good take. - Yeah.
I'm good, I'm good.
You should see the dent.
It's all my face.
No way,
What?
Bro, look at this.
In case you were wondering where Vinny's nose went into the box.
Wait, wait, wait.
Ready?
Oh, no!
Dude.
It's like Cinderella.
Come on.
Holy shit.
Thank you. - Let's go.
I was like,
That was that second box,
I was like, **** you - Poor Vinny.
3, 2, 1. Action.
Okay, good.
That's a cut.
That hurt?
No.
Action.
One more.
One more right away. - Let's go.
Try to hit me both at the same time.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Still rolling.
Action.
That's a cut.
Those both hit my face.
You know what, I think you need to play a little...
Imagine like...
You're kind of holding him almost.
Yeah.
So we can give him like, and then just notice and then go, oh, bap!
Oh. Okay.
It's hitting me every time.
Is it hurting at all?
Yeah! 'Cause it's like...
Ow! Don't do it to me!
How about I do it to you
what you just did to me.
You tell me if that hurts
the same as that.
I feel like that hurt.
Go, go, go.
About the same.
Okay.
Fair enough.
Still didn't sign up for it, but...
3, 2, 1, action.
That was great.
That was awesome.
It looked good let's move on.
Wanna check playback?
You good?
It got you?
Yeah, every time those come right back at me because my hands are here so
it's just like there's nowhere to go
but straight back. - We're checking playback.
3, 2, 1. Action.
Good? - Yeah?
Love it.
Yeah? - Yeah!
Great.
Alright.
Happy? Moving on?
Hilarious. - So...
Now let's move on to...
Can I see "A" one more time?
Like right there
it should be back at you.
It's off of you right there.
Yeah, give it again.
Give again.
Alright guys, we are gonna go again.
3, 2, 1. Action.
Cut.
You can't really see the release,
you know what I'm saying?
If you were to use one like that, you'd have to get that insert.
All right, one more.
3, 2, 1.
Action.
Cut. That was good.
That one was the most painful!
Every time.
That snap though was like...
Yeah the snap was...
How's your face? - It hit my mouth.
****!
Alright, we're good.
We're good.
You could see the contact on that one.
Officially done.
Alright.
Officially moving on you guys.
We got that.
We did like what? Six takes of that?
My face feels numb.
That just went from one of the more complicated effects, to...
One of the simplest ones.
Yeah, I know, right?
Yeah, just hold it in your mouth during that.
So punch, flick.
Yeah.
Great.
That's all we're gonna do.
Yeah.
Okay.
How long do you need?
Well, do you wanna do the, the hazer vape or the um, let's try that.
He's not gonna inhale it...
Suitable for humans and animals.
100% safe from the... made from food...
Yeah, here we go.
Vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol.
That's the exact same base fluid as um,
Can I see your...?
Yeah, it's the website.
It's just like drinking a LaCroix.
It's probably more like drinking a Diet Coke.
Oh, well that's fine.
Oh Lord and stars.
Justin.
Thank you.
The tough thing is actually it's blowing smoke.
'cause it blows.
We gotta wait for it to get thick.
Oh no.
There. Now get in there.
Mom doesn't love this.
Mom does not love this.
What?
What is that?
Yeah, that's, there you go.
Whoa.
Is that safe?
No.
Mama doesn't love it.
It's a safe...
It better be 'cause we're using it all around us.
It's what the... - Yeah that's a VFX hazer.
That's a hazer he just put in his mouth?
Yeah.
This is... What do you think...
What do you think you're breathing right now?
But like, dissipated.
It, it's the same thing. - You just took a whole bong load
Hey, hey, everybody - No, no no.
It's not going my lungs.
Everybody, everybody.
He's doing drugs.
No, not, no.
Don't look at Freddie.
11-6-1.
All right, when camera's set.
Set - Here, right?
Freddie inhales.
Mm-hmm.
Everyone settled?
Set, and!
3, 2, 1
Action.
Not enough smoke.
Gimme the... Gimme the herbal cig.
11-6-6.
And
3, 2, 1
Action.
Cut.
That was good.
Those are hot churros.
There goes the productivity on set.
Don't say that.
It's churro time, okay?
You gotta get the sugar rush right to the crash
at the end of the day.
C H U R R O S
So good.
Are you just fiending for more?
Yeaaaah
That's all I can think about.
Stay clear eyed, Justin.
There's more to do.
Oh my God.
Churro cam.
Set.
Stunts set?
Set.
Alright.
Settle everybody.
And 3, 2, 1.
Action.
Cut.
That looked real.
That was good.
That's good.
That felt great.
Alright.
Let's get it quick.
Just for... I just want over on, on the grab here.
Push in or pull out?
I think you're just... - Alright, guys
Stay, stay static because I think what you're - Abby's up.
gonna be fighting is, it moves a little bit - Abby is up.
as he's winding. - Sure.
So you're just gonna want to get wind up like that.
And maybe let's get you lower
have you scrape some of these boxes
Just so you're not at the same height as...
he is. - The box, so you can see the whirl.
No, but it's hitting them. When he's doing the whirl.
So clear the box entirely.
Yeah.
Clear the box entirely.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, sorry sorry Bongani.
You know what?
Let's actually do it.
Yes.
And just the reason we couldn't have camera here before was because
the go, let's do the whole choreo.
Just stop on the swing.
Okay.
Just don't do the swing.
Okay.
Because your punch looks good from here too.
Got it.
And.
3, 2, 1. Action.
Yeah.
Cut.
That was forceful.
I loved it.
Uh, lemme see the wrap on this really quick.
So we're to call it for today?
Yes, wrap everybody.
Alright guys, that's actually a wrap on the day.
Thank you, everybody. - Good job, everybody.
This is what I do.
I do this shit 'cause Freddie's the ****ing man.
Everyone puts into their art, and I love that.
So this is my way of putting into ****ing the art.
I think this is from...
Where is that?
Woo.
There it is.
This from the box jumps
I think.
From today?
It's from the box jumps when I was, "augh!"
This is probably the happiest I've been with like
dailies and stuff. - Good.
Like it's feeling like "this looked good."
Yeah, he was telling Yung. - That looked like he's getting...
the shit kicked out of him. - Yeah.
Bongani lights it like, like amazing.
It looks ****ing great. - Yeah, it's great.
We're doing shots that are like 1/4 second long
and Bongani's like...
Alright, crafting the light and stuff.
Like, "uuubah!" Then the next shot.
But we're just having the time.
Yeah. It's gonna be good.
Well, having the location too.
Yeah.
I mean, again, it's the two weeks of rehearsal and previz is the only
way that you could, we got that.
Yeah.
That'll be Sequence 14.
Yeah.
Essentially just post, post train tunnel.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Because all that stuff is mild.
As I'm moving around it's loosening up a little bit.
Okay.
Yeah, but let's just go into that.
Yeah.
We can start with that and then see how we're feeling.
See what you can get through like comfortably.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
You got tight muscles?
What do you have, Fred?
Jacked my ****ing back up.
Oh, back.
Yeah.
I got
two salon paws slapped on there shooting lidocaine into my buttocks.
And if we need to like get a, a sports doctor, you know, PT or masseuse
here, like we can do that like.
It's a totally reasonable thing.
This is also lessons to be learned since you're gonna be
doing more action next year too.
Like, gotta treat the stunt guys and you right.
I got, I got it.
Let's see what's up.
Yeah.
Yeah, you gotta make contact, Jordan.
Copy, yeah.
Stay loose.
You can't make... there's no jiggle.
You got jiggle, jiggle.
Jiggle, jiggle. - Ya gotta jiggle.
Now, will ice make it redder?
It'll make it redder.
You're gonna get red.
Yeah, it's gonna get red regardless.
You're gonna get red.
Okay.
Well, we only have... - I'm saying it's up to you...
Listen, hear me out. - ...to let them know.
We have one take at this. - Yeah.
Because it's gonna get redder and redder and redder as time goes on.
So you gotta get it on the first... - Just make it right.
So here's the first, first, first, first, first.
If the first...
If the first slap sucks, I'm calling cut.
No, no, if the first...
If this doesn't ****ing work... - Yeah of course
You call cut. - I'll cut.
I'll cut at any moment it doesn't work.
Jordan.
Yes.
Hit my hand.
Show me how hard you're gonna hit me.
Come on. there.
There. Yeah, yeah.
You gotta be the first slap.
You gotta the first, he's gonna lift.
I'm gonna go like this, and as soon as I lift, that should be... wham.
Very important.
Don't have your hand... hold on gimme your hand.
Don't slap it like that.
You want to be from, come from behind.
Copy.
Try and get the jiggle.
Yeah.
That's how you get the jiggle.
Whip it, it, you know, you wanna whip it.
Fingertips, like...
You're kind of hitting with this part.
Gimme one, gimme one.
One? - Gimme one.
Yeah.
And you go harder than that.
Not so much, just not, fingers alone, that's not, you gotta hear the slap.
If you're not hearing, then you need the next one
You go harder.
- [Matt] And three, two, one, action!
- Oh my God, it's cold. (Vinny grunting)
- Ah. - Uh, wait, what?
(slaps cracking) (Freddie screaming)
- Cut. - That's a cut!
- [Vinny] You all right, bro? (Freddie laughing)
- You all right?
- How you doing? - **** me.
- You all right?
You all right? - We're good.
Yeah, it's good, it's good.
- [Crew] Hey, do you wanna try one more?
- Another one? Yep, let's do another one.
- Yeah, let's. - Three, two, one, action.
- Oh, oh God. (Vinny grunting)
I don't have your lunch money.
(slaps cracking) (Freddie screaming)
- Cut, yeah. (laughs) - That's a cut!
- A little bit like this. - Yeah, and then just pull.
- So I mean- - Yeah, that's your thing.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah. - This is like best part here
is gonna give you a jiggle.
- So can we come to this closeup
or we still have something else up here?
So you've been like- - Oh, we're gonna do both.
- I don't have your lunch money.
- Y'all can cut. - Ah, ah, ah, ah!
Ah, ah, ah!
- Cut! - That's good!
- All right! - Right.
(crew members applauding)
- [Crew] Do you wanna watch playback?
- That worked? - Yeah, that was good.
That was the best performance.
- Just go again, go again.
Go again and go for it, fellas.
- [Matt] 'Cause that's the only thing that's the start.
It's like, oh, oh.
- Ah, ah, ah, ah! (slaps cracking)
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah!
- Cut. - That's good!
- [Matt] That was good. I think we got it.
- [Jordan] Okay. (Freddie sighing)
- Yeah. (screaming) Oh!
(Freddie grunting)
Save me. - Okay, cut, that's perfect.
- That's a cut! - Okay.
(Freddie laughing)
- Good, and we're good. - Is that spit?
Spit? What's in there? - Yeah.
Croutons, water. - You mean water's in there.
- This is water with sugar and a touch of coffee.
- [Justin] That's just water with sugar?
- Let's just do that. - Sugar water.
- [Crew] New shots.
- Satisfied, dang, that shot was pretty good.
Be as far up as possible
that feels natural. - Yeah.
Why are you getting rid of the (beep) shield like that?
- [Crew] You know, yeah, I think you should.
Yeah, we should cover it in his face.
- Yeah, I mean- - You spit on me from here.
I'm impressed at that point,
I'm not even mad. - No, no, just spray.
- Just spray, yeah, just...
- Do this for me. - Yes, cover Vinny?
- Yeah, yeah, I feel like- - Are you okay?
You okay like that, Vinny? - I'm good like this.
- Okay. - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Have you seen me back over there?
- No! - No, not over here.
I think we can keep you out, I'll just stay here.
- Thank you, Vinny. - Yeah.
- And will tell me when it's time?
- Little tighter lens, Matt? - And now it's in.
Now it's in. - There we go.
- Okay. - Is that okay, Matt?
- Are you getting in? - Yeah, yeah.
So that box is where he would be.
- No, no, you should be fine, let's move.
Yeah, it's just,
it's coming this way. - Sorry.
- And we'll do a little bit of lift into it.
- Okay.
- And Bubba, you want?
So I go first? - To give you a preview.
- Yeah, yeah. (Matt grunting)
- [Crew] Yeah, if you wanna catch that.
- Get wedged for a second, then slip out, you know?
Yeah. - Yeah, yeah, I got it.
- Okay? - Okay.
Everyone feel good to shoot?
- On it, go, go. - Okay!
- Rob, are you good? - So I'm gonna come into,
up into it then. - Yep.
(Freddie grunting)
(Freddie laughing)
- Yeah, what now?
- Yeah, for real. - Do you want some?
Do you wanna take some of this?
- No, I'm good, I'm good. - I think, "What?"
Now I'm just like (laughs). - (laughs) Yeah.
- And you need to look up. - Yes!
- All right, let's roll film. - All right, let's go
and roll sound and cameras, please.
- [Crew] Sound speed.
- A, speed. - Rolling!
- B, speed. - 15-2-3.
- [Crew] 1523. (Freddie clapping)
- Okay, that's better. - That's right.
- Set and remember, violent.
Pulling the hand and just that, "I got something for ya."
And three, two, one, action!
(Freddie grunting)
(Freddie spitting)
(Freddie groaning) (Matt laughing)
- Where did I hit? - It's so good.
- All over Vinny's arm. - Oh no!
(crew members chattering indistinctly)
- [Matt] You okay with that 'cause it's gonna happen again.
- It's gonna happen. - Throw it in the box.
- Have those handy. - Can you toss in the box?
Thank you. - Where's that water?
Where's that? - Oh yeah, I'm good,
I'm good, I'm good. - You're good.
Don't do tough guy, just give (growls).
- Okay. - "I got something for you."
Just one line. - Yeah.
Yeah, I got something for ya.
- [Jordan] All right, rolling, rolling.
The cameras are set! - Rolling!
- Ready? Say, "Bon appetit." - Set.
- Bon appetit.
After? (crew member laughing)
- [Matt] Right before you spit, "Bon appetit."
- Oh, I'm gonna spit right at ya.
- Give him, "Bon appetit."
Then spit at him. - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- Okay, all right, let's try that.
And three, two, one, action!
(Freddie grunting)
- Bon appetit. (spits)
(Freddie laughing)
(Freddie screaming)
- Oh. - Oh, there we go, cut.
- Well done! - That's good!
- Too much? (fake spit squishing)
- That's (beep) perfect.
- Is that too much? - No, no, no, I can get that.
- I think I'll do that. - Oh, Jesus, that's a lot.
- We'll see what happens.
- That's good, that's a lot.
- We'll see what happens.
I will only squeeze it a little bit.
- Go again, so that's the point, right?
That's (beep) great, oh, oh.
- Okay, we'll see what happens.
(Vinny laughing) (Matt laughing)
Okay. - All right, I gotta keep
locked in, locked in. - Okay.
I'm not gonna look at you. - Like sudden, Jenny.
- Oh.
- Yung. - Yep.
- Come here 'cause if this doesn't work,
I may see if you can fling it at him.
Let me try this, like- - Yeah.
- Holy shit. - Yeah, yeah, so that's great.
- We're in, we're in. - All right, good.
- Rolling? - Mm-hmm.
- And action!
(Vinny breathing heavily)
- Mm!
- What'd that look like? Nothing?
- All right, let's cut! - Nah, there was nothing
there. - All right!
Three, two, one, action!
- Oh shit. - Reset.
- [Jordan] Resetting.
- [Matt] Aim for his mouth.
- [Yung] Sorry, yep.
(Vinny breathing heavily)
- [Vinny] Mm!
- Okay, that's solid. - Cut!
- Got it. - Okay.
You know, that look good?
- You got it, all right? - Yeah, we're good.
- That's it. - That's good, yeah.
That's perfect.
- Macabe, bizarre visual effects shit.
And you're gonna sit there, you're gonna be like,
"This is not a movie anymore."
And you'll be right because it'll be visual effects,
and it'll be incomprehensible to everybody,
including us, to an extent.
But don't worry, we got it.
- We did practice. - We practiced this once, yes.
- Okay, here we go, boys. - Would you look forward
and close your eyes for this? - Yes, sir.
- [Yung] Look towards the ladder, yep.
- Sound speeds. - I'll tell you when
it's safe, hold on one second. - You got it, buddy.
- Thank you. - And roll camera.
Is that a stud finder? You got one right here. (laughs)
- [Cameron] That's right. (crew member laughing)
- [Jordan] All right, rolling, rolling.
- Just remember, don't dip too far down.
- I'm gonna get to there. I'm gonna get to there.
- 14-6-1. - All right, your arms,
we'll try to get flat completely.
- That's flat, bro. Is that flat?
- [Crew] A touch lower.
- That's flat? - Yeah.
- Okay, whatever you say, buddy.
- [Crew] Try to give me 10 hits,
8 hits on the way down. - 10 hits? What the (beep)?
- [Crew] You know where your arms are?
Eight hits on the way down.
- [Jordan] All right, we're all set.
And rolling. - All right, we're rolling.
All right, here we go. Nate? - Yep.
- You and me buddy, ready? - Yeah.
- Here's one.
(Freddie grunting)
- [Crew] That was good, the individuals are nice.
(Freddie grunting)
- [Matt] Shake your shoulders more, eyes into it.
(Freddie grunting)
- Okay. - So
we're kind of coming down. (Freddie laughing)
If it's possible, this is gonna be weird.
You're kinda coming down in an arc right now.
- I got it, yeah.
I know exactly what you need, baby.
I know exactly what you need.
I gotta Ariel from "Little Mermaid" there at first.
(Freddie grunting) - [Crew] All set.
- [Matt] Slower at the end, Freddie
in terms of how much you're moving.
- Is there a way that we can? - There you go.
- [Crew] I mean, it's kinda distant.
- [Matt] So you have more luck
with what you're doing, yes. - Just a little bit, yeah.
(Freddie grunting)
- [Matt] Yeah.
(Cameron laughing) - [Crew] So Freddie,
if it's easier, we can do one
where instead of your head facing camera,
just look straight down.
- Okay. - That way, you're not
doing this sideways. - I'm gonna do a little bit
of a 3/4. - Okay.
- [Matt] Yeah, because then he lands, yeah.
- You gotta see them. - You just gotta tilt
at the end of it, go bobbing and bring your head,
like let loose of your head. - Yeah, yeah, yeah,
that's perfect. - Yeah.
(Freddie grunting)
- [Matt] Give me one like it whips you to the left.
(Freddie grunting)
- [Crew] Yeah. (laughs)
- [Matt] Yeah, I think he got it.
(Freddie grunting)
Shake your shoulders more.
(Freddie growling)
- That was a good one. - That was good.
(Freddie grunting)
Nah, doesn't look like anything.
- Shut up! (crew members laughing)
- [Matt] I'm telling you.
I'm seeing this. - So I have a-
- More deliberate hits. - We're gonna take
a beat here. - Okay.
- As the world stops swimming.
Okay.
- [Matt] Right, what you do, your right arm,
bring it down so you're not even, that's all.
Now, like, yeah, just...
Well, you're kind of uneven as you're down there.
Oh, it'll just make your shoulders look much, yeah.
- Okay, angle this.
- Got you there. - So I can put my hand
right there. - Yeah, bam!
- That's nice, yeah. - So good, good?
- [Matt] In fact, if you can try to do it
by not using your left hand to support yourself
as little as possible 'cause that's where you will break.
Yes! There you go. - That's great.
That was great. - That's good.
But do it like that, yep.
(Freddie grunting)
That was good. (Freddie groaning)
Now do one with your head all left the whole way
before you go, yeah. (Freddie grunting)
- Oh (beep), that's so hard.
- [Crew] Yeah, that's hard, yeah.
(Freddie grunting)
(Matt laughing)
Yeah, Nate, you got some good ones?
- [Nate] I did, yeah.
- Yeah, I think we're good. - One more, one more.
Here we go. This is the one we'll use.
(Freddie grunting)
- Quite good actually. - That was pretty good.
- That's good. - Okay, good!
- Okay! - Rolling.
- There's one. - Okay.
- [Crew] You got it? Got everybody?
- [Crew] I think he's not here.
- [Matt] Yeah.
(drill whizzing)
- [Crew] We're making as long as it's-
- Right here? - Oh!
- Oh, yeah.
- [Justin] Cameron's gonna get his head
smashed in the door. - What you got?
- [Justin] And you're gonna be getting a massage.
Did I hear that right?
- [Crew] Keep going.
- Let's go, Freddie?
- Hell yeah, Cameron.
- Let's go! It's time. - Great!
- Just razzing. - This is the door
head smash gag.
And this is the, my back is killing me gag.
- Yeah. - Okay, so I'm gonna go
right. - Right.
- All right. - Yeah, so make sure
we're not running on this path now.
- Mm-hmm. - We want to run.
- [Crew] I think will be good.
- No, you're not even here. - No, we're not really here.
- Here. - Okay.
- Just come from the back. - Here, so that you can be,
travel a little bit. - Copy, okay.
- [Yung] And then we'll probably have to dial it
in as we go on. - Copy.
- [Yung] Just so like when he gets slammed in,
it'll be stiff. - Copy.
- [Yung] So it's not flying.
Stiff in this one.
- Everyone have it? - Yep, that's good.
- [Justin] Ready to get your head smashed.
- I guess so. No, we're good. (laughs)
You're my brother. - Yeah, ready
to smash some balls? - Oh yeah.
- [Yung] And three, two, one action.
(Cameron grunting)
All right!
- We're good! - All right, we're good.
- Still rolling. - A little earlier, Jordan.
- Copy. - Three, two, one, action.
(Cameron grunting)
Still a little early.
- Yeah. - We are good.
- We're good?
(Cameron grunting)
(Cameron groaning)
(Cameron grunting)
(Cameron groaning)
(Cameron grunting)
- [Matt] You really throw him in there!
- [Jordan] Yeah!
(Cameron grunting)
- That's comfortable. - Good.
- Okay, cut, cut. - That's cut!
- That was really good. - Right!
- Bro. - Yo!
- [Crew] Good one, hey, good one, good one.
- You made it. - Good one, Cameron.
- Feeling? - That was good.
Better, way better.
It was essentially probably a little bit of a strain,
lower back, maybe the discs,
but essentially, it was all the muscles
tightening up afterwards.
So like working, figuring out which muscles
to like activate now
so that I'm not putting all the strain on the back.
So it's spreading it across glutes, hamstring, core.
And so now, I actually do feel like I can like...
- Oh wow! - Ooh, look at that.
Dip to your toes. - Did to you.
(Vinny grunting)
(Vinny spitting)
- [Matt] Nice.
- [Justin] Is this the big stunt time?
You flying through those boxes?
- I think we're about to fly through some boxes.
- Yeah. - Freddie's flying
through some boxes, not me. (shushes)
It's Freddie.
- Good, okay.
- All padded up already.
- Nice. - Yeah, we're all
set to go, man. - All right.
Cool. - Yes.
Gonna start from back here.
Gonna run up onto these panel mats.
So that way, we can get a little bit of height.
- Ooh. - We're gonna try and aim
for that one, two, three, four, fifth box up top.
That's the goal.
And then hit, splat.
- Yeah. - Awesome.
- Three, two, one, action!
(footsteps clopping)
(boxes clattering) (Cameron groaning)
- [Crew] You all right?
You good there? - We're good.
- [Matt] Yeah, okay, good.
- Yeah. - Hey!
(crew members whistling and cheering)
- [Freddie] All right.
- You got it? - Oh yeah.
- [Crew] We gotta see this.
- Yeah. - Don't play, Matt.
- There we go.
- [Crew] Okay, max power! Let's go!
- One! - And three, two, one! Action!
(boxes clattering)
- Good? - We're good.
Stay right there. Stay right there.
- Keep rolling! - Keep rolling!
(boxes thunking)
That did it.
And that's all taped, that's fine.
I mean, that worked, right?
- That'll do it. - That did it. Great, love it!
I mean, he's gone in there, so.
- Yeah. - Yeah, we're lost.
- Oh shit. - We're good?
- We're good. - All good.
- Help out. - Cameron!
(crew members whistling and cheering)
- Nice job, good take.
- [Crew] You good, bud.
- All right, it's all good, all good.
That's why I did packing peanuts.
- [Yung] Here, I'll show you.
[Jordan] Just so everybody knows,
we're gonna quickly get a shot of Freddie
popping out of the boxes since we're already here.
- Stolen valor!
(crew members laughing)
- [Matt] Freddie!
- Ah! (boxes thunking)
(crew members laughing)
- [Matt] We're good?
- Yeah, we got it. - That's a cut.
- [Crew] It's not my favorite one right there.
- Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, yes
but then don't have your hands straight.

and then profile.
And then on a person here comes up like, "Mm."
- And we do smear, also we could use.
- On this one, on this one, yeah, yeah, good.
- Drizzle, smear.
- No, I would do smear, smear.
Smear, smear. - So then,
oh, then that's on one of them, past them.
- Yeah, yeah, it's there and it's...
- [Crew] Let the beans right now?
- So we should do one of them having it next.
- Yeah. - So how many beans
are you dropping? - A lot.
- A lot of beans.
- [Matt] Enormous amount of beans.
- Let's maybe do the 28mm,
just so we can get you more floor.
- No, I prefer, nah, it always feels more
when they fly off, right? - Yeah.
- So they're gonna pour all around his legs,
and if they start scattering off, that's better.
- So he's gonna pull the bag right here,
and then he's gonna release it,
so we're just gonna see them.
That's what that's yeah.
- I have one good shot of that.
- [Crew] Can you put the 35mm on? On Beta?
- Oh yeah. - Right on.
- [Crew] Yes, yeah.
- [Crew] Yeah, stick to it.
- [Crew] Yeah.
(crew members chattering indistinctly)
- Thank you.
- [Crew] Cool, cool.
- Okay, can you attend for a few?
I'm gonna check on something. - Yeah, absolutely.
- All right, thank you, Jordan.
- [Justin] How's it been using your mind
and your performance instead of your body today?
- Hard to split this up
'cause we're also trying to think about coverage.
I need to do more, I think the takeaway
is I need to do more homework with Matt
before because I'm not as useful thinking about stuff
'cause I'm not seeing the shots.
'Cause that was one of the primary benefits
is when we were doing our thing as I'm editing it,
I'm seeing the shots, and I'm like, "Oh it's this,
and then it's gonna cut to this.
And then this is the frame size."
But because I can't see it
and not seeing it, you know, 'cause we're moving quickly,
you gotta figure out a different way of doing that.
So it's, again, a lot of learning,
a lot of tweaks, so it's like, "Ah, okay."
- Yeah. - Three, two, one.
- Yeah. (beans clicking)
- Three, two, one. - Got it.
(vacuum buzzing)
Time it, with the same length as the time
- Three, two, one. - No, no, too fast.
Pour. - Done, yeah.
Two, one. - Three, two, one,
zero. - Yeah, maybe.
- Three, two, one, zero. - Three, two, one, zero.
(Matt laughing)
All right.
Clear? - Well.
- [Justin] Two directors, one brain right there.
- [Jordan] All right, beans are clear.
- We are about to spill the beans.
- Yeah.
- Three, two, one, zero. - Three, two, one, zero.
(beans rattling)
- [Matt] Yeah, good, got it.
- Yeah, well done. - That's a cut.
- [Crew] Great, thank you, thank you.
(smooth jazzy music)
- Today, the big scene is the end scene with Don.
- Yeah. - Hanging out of the train,
so there's a little bit of complexity with that.
And then hopefully, if we play our cards right,
we have a day and a half of just
like pickups, little fixes, tweaks, where, you know,
we're in the middle, we edit as we're going.
So we're seeing some stuff, like,
"Ah, let's do this again but do this instead."
Or like, you know, like, "Oh, this would be good
if we had it like from this angle."
- Perfect. - So the little things.
So it's actually really hard to say how
frantic today will be,
but the goal is I think to be as frantic as possible.
So that Friday, our eighth day, our mythical eighth day,
we won't have a ton of stuff.
This is the goal. - If we can get through
sequence 18 and 2, which is all dialogue,
which is the stabbing-
- But that's me hanging out. - It's some elaborate stuff
and then hanging out, so it's not a lot,
but it's like kind of elaboraty stuff, especially stabbing.
Perfect world, we get through it by lunch.
- Yeah.
- As long as we get through a little bit after lunch.
The other Don stuff are just three shots of Don.
- Yeah. - So we will have time
for pickups. - Okay.
- So at lunchtime, we should prioritize, yeah.
- Yeah. - Today, we should prioritize.
My thought is getting, taking care of the rest
of the hobo scene with you. - To me, the only Don one
would be Don, the "swindler" line over Vinny.
- Yeah, I'll just get that one again.
Again, that one I missed 'cause I was like,
I was getting frustrated.
I was like, "Oh, we don't even need that shot."
But if you wanted that shot
because of- - I think you want.
'Cause I think you want because it's-
- I just don't like him saying that line small.
I think we just pretend. - Yeah, I know.
He's not saying it. - Yeah, yeah.
- What you want is you want this.
- The laugh! - You want the laugh.
That's what I said. - All right.
No, that makes sense. - Like, when they're here,
it's like this tension's here,
and then he's pulling that tension away.
- No, I hear you. - And then you come into it,
you know what I mean? - Again, yeah.
No, that makes sense.
In the edit, it didn't make-
- Far away. - No, there's just,
in the shot where he starts his laugh,
I wasn't focusing. - Yeah.
- He's a little bit too stacked when he starts his laugh
'cause I wasn't thinking of the shot for Don.
In my head, we were just cutting to a closeup,
but you're right.
Now seeing it, you wanna start the laugh
'cause I don't like him talking from far
'cause that mimics Freddie
like big and small. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- But starting the laugh in the wide so
motivates the punch in make sense.
- Okay. - In which case,
we just need to do that again.
- So there was, you know, how like we had the ones
where it was like between the hobos,
and it was me like, "Yeah, that's right.
You mess with one."
It's almost that same size. - Never mind,
he doesn't have any mistakes this morning
'cause he was always in front of camera.
I'm living with all my mistakes this morning.
- Between dudes, so. - So far, it's two,
but that's a lot.
Remember, I was raised Catholic.
One mistake means you go to hell, I got two.
That's a lot of Hail Marys. - 'Cause he's moved
to the corner though. - Yeah, yeah,
but it's just for that. - Where you just see.
- It's just for the "Ha!"
And then you start at the middle as well.
- Oh, the starts, yeah. - Yeah, we'll show you
the eye line, it's just cam. - Okay, yeah, yeah.
- That's all it is. - So you stab him.
- Chest here, chest. - Right hand.
- Right behind him, this one. - Yeah.
- Go a bit closer. - Yeah.
- [Yung] You know, just bring yourself.
- I'm gonna hold my hand. - You want me to back off?
- No, no, it's fine.
- Yeah, yep, yep. - So you have to control.
Now look, now we just go together, again.
- [Yung] All those cameras are on.
- Three, two, one, go.
Ah! - Ah.
(Freddie grunting)
- Oh, that is just fine, I love it.
- Yeah?
- Yeah, yeah, that's it.
Yeah, you essentially, cameras are essentially on axis.
- Okay. - Ready?
- Yeah, on axis. - And then you
move towards Freddie.
Three, two, one, action!
(Freddie screaming)
- I missed it.
- Good start though.
Your first stab, don't go (grunts).
It's (roars)!
- Oh, okay. (roars) - Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ready and three, two, one, action.
Ah!
- Okay.
- Can you come in?
Can you come this way a little bit more on your end?
- More towards? - Travel out.
- So more 3/4 to you. - Travel this way, yeah.
Yeah. - Yeah?
- Yeah, well, with profiling at the end,
I think, will also help.
- Okay.
- [Crew] 18-4-9.
- [Crew] Rolling.
- And three, two, one, go.
- Ah!
(Freddie grunting)
- [Matt] Cut.
- Good. - Not messy or anything?
- Good. - All right.
- It's good too. - Yeah.
- Yeah, all right. - Oh yeah.
- All right, we got options.
- [Jordan] We got options.
That was really good. - Let's set up for blood.
- So I'm gonna do up, look, (grunts) and then-
- [Matt] And then with that next stab
is the one I'm squirting.
- [Crew] Yeah, yep.
- I'm gonna turn. - Are you still hyped
right now that you're...
- I'm hyped, I'm a little nervous.
It's just what happens, happens.
Three, two, one, action!
(Freddie screaming)
(hand pounding)
Cut!
- [Jordan] That's a cut.
- [Crew] That hole is photo for Freddie, right?
- [Jordan] Yeah, photo for Freddie, so he can't move.
- [Crew] Don't move, don't move.
- So sit. - Of course.
- And then just be careful when you're walking around here.
That one might be- - When you're coming in.
- [Jordan] So anyone
walk to the square? - Did you break the knife?
- Yeah, I did. - Just let them check, okay.
- [Crew] Okay, I was like, "Don't touch your face."
- Okay. - Next.
- Okay, wait, okay. - Okay!
- So while you're still here. - Yeah.
- Let's just do again. - Can I get another knife?
- Oh. - Oh, did you break that one?
- Yeah, I broke it. - Okay.
- All right, and then...
- Do you wanna hand me that so that's out?
- Can we put a little bit more blood in this?
- Yeah, yeah, of course. - I'm not gonna hit you.
So let's do a just for the end give me a (screams)
And then (pants).
Look up and then get out of the shot.
- Where's my eye line? - Your eye line will be,
let's find one.
- Set? - Set and action.
(Freddie screaming)
(Freddie panting)
(Freddie growling)
Cut, dude, the last shot was a ****ing headshot.
I got it. I got it. - I know.
- Flawless right where I wante dit
- [Freddie] You got me, baby.
You got the cool one across your eyes.
All right, good?
(crew members chattering indistinctly)
Can I get some...
Can I clean my face, Matt? Matt?
Matt, can I clean my face? - Matt, can he clean his face?
- [Matt] Yeah, yes.
- I'm sorry. Okay. - You're fine.
(somber music)
- And then just wrap through.
And then go. (Don sipping)
Watch it now. Oh, shit.
So yeah, let's swing him away.
So let's cheat a little bit away from the wall.
- So it's a few things.
It's like swinging.
Then I do slamming, then up. - Slamming, yeah.
- Yeah? - Yeah.
- So we're dancing, yeah? - Yeah.
- I'll bring you over, that's one.
Two, three. - Yeah.
- If you could get him, that's perfect.
And then just this part is good,
but if we could get him over here more to-
- Oh, like this, opened out.
- When you rotate him. - All right, so.
- Yeah. - And so
one, two.
- Oh, watch out. - Three.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- [Crew] That's good, don't move that.
- Are we going to the end?
- No. - No, no, just there.
- Once you hit him, it's done. - One, two, three.
- One, two, three, yeah. - Yeah.
- [Freddie] Ready? Nice quick one.
Get that jacket to flag out. - Rolling!
- You got it, you got it. - Ready.
And three, two, one, action.
(Freddie grunting)
- Let's go again, sorry.
- [Crew] Yeah, that's okay.
- It was so fast, I ****ing missed it!
- That's okay, three, two, one, action.
(Freddie grunting)
(Freddie groaning)
(door thudding)
Pretty good. - It's all good.
- Is there a way to try one where it looks so good
when you come in that, honestly,
it feels weaker the longer you're there.
I think you just go straight into it
'cause it's just the reveal
shows that you're sipping it already.
- This thing you just do where he's pouring on me,
you want that out? - Yeah, no, just-
- Yeah, try it without.
One. - Yeah, just go fast into it.
(Freddie groaning)
- Just right, just right. - Yeah, just right into it.
- Right into it. - You'll look more badass.
- I'll do a little bit of a-
- Okay, cutting. - Last, okay.
- [Matt] Let's cut and roll.
- [Freddie] Yeah, I'll throw
some (groans). - That's a cut and a re-roll.
- Okay. - Thanks, Matt!
- Yep. - Ready.
And three, two, one, action.
(Freddie groaning)
- Whoo! - I like that one.
- That's tight! - That's a cut.
- The danger zone is effects.
This zone is all effects.
- Every inch that door opens, it costs more money.
- Yeah, or causes Nate more problems.
Which is more money.
- [Matt] All right, so let's talk about the two shots.
- So if you're- - Okay.
- This is one.
It's gonna be enough, wide enough that you see Don.
And the other one is tighter.
- It's gonna be lots of winds. - Okay.
Yeah, I mean, why don't we just prop that with kinda like,
we could just wedge this. - Blue be better than white?
- I think for this 'cause there's a lot
of acting against it. - Yeah.
- Plus with the wind in your hair,
I think it'll help. - Yeah, I agree it'll help.
Blue. - Yeah.
- I think you can hold 'em up, it's fine.
- Hold them up. - Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I'm sure you'll be fine. - Yeah, yeah.
- And we'll see if we can put something on top of you.
- If anything, you might change to darker pants.
- No, these are pretty dark.
- Compared to shoes. - Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- Right, just...
- Yeah, I was just gonna ask
and wear one of the guys'. - Either of the action,
either white like- - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- Okay, let me try that, push.
Like that? - Yes.
(tape ripping)
- [Don] 24 hours, Danny!
You get me that vase
or you die real slow for wasting my time!
- Ah! Ah! - Ah!
- Cut, perfect, loved it.
- Hold it - All right, with these ones,
all right, you're gonna get your left hand at 12 o'clock,
your right hand at three o'clock,
your thumbs out like that, all right?
And you're gonna be thinking about pushing
that corner away from you.
So it is, as you go, you push the corner away
and bring your heels of your hands down to you.
There, there.
- Oh! - Do like that.
And down. (crew members applauding)
- Yeah. - Like it's simple.
You know, one. - I think we got up to six.
Yeah, it was six. - Six?
- [Crew] I can't do this at all.
- [Cameron] It was this one that was messing me up.
- Yeah, the backwards is weird.
- Yeah, yeah.
- Two, one, two, three. (hands clapping)
- Come on, Shaolin man.
- Ah! - One, two, three, four.
- [Cameron] Shaolin, Shaolin!
Shaolin, Shaolin, Shaolin! - Let's go.
- Oh, shit. - Yeah, yeah.
- Good, yeah. (Cameron laughing)
- [Crew] This was so great.
- Hey, so Yung. - Yo!
- I'm gonna take this one.
You just launch me into an eight-incher right?
- Yeah, exactly. - Should I back pad up?
- No, it's so soft, bro! - So soft!
- Freddie, you got all that padding?
- Ah yeah, I'm going up.
I'm going up, up,
and away Freddie. - All right, yeah.
Up, up and away. - Up, up, and away!
- Let's. - But we're cutting.
You don't need to do what you did to cameras
'cause we're gonna cut.
The camera's flying. - No, so send 'em hard.
- Yeah, yeah. - Yeah, yeah. (laughs)
- Send him to the strat, I think the word is stratosphere.
- Yeah. - I think that's word
we were looking for. - All right.
Come in real hard.
- Got it. - Three, two, one, action.
(Vinny grunting)
(boxes clattering)
(Freddie laughing)
- [Crew] Got it?
- Hell yeah, baby! - It's good, it's good.
- So cruel! - Freddie.
- We're gonna either (beep) do this one.
- [Crew] That rule!
- I got a ride on the Vinny Express!
- [Matt] That's fine. Hey, that's good!
- Yeah, we have to go again. No, we gotta go again.
- Oh no! - Okay, okay.
- Three, two, one, action!
(Freddie grunting)
(boxes thudding)
(crew laughing)
- Let's go! - Ooh.
- Yep, hey, Freddie. - Yeah.
That was good. All the technical is good.
Performance, ah, oh God! Ah!
Terrified, terrified! - Okay, okay.
Okay, okay, okay, okay.
- Remember you also got your head smashed multiple times.
You got spit on like you're ****ed here.
- [Freddie] Okay, okay.
- Oh yeah! Oh shit!
Ah! Ah! - Ah!
- Cut. - That's good.
- [Matt] All right, one more for insurance.
- One more! - That's good!
- I can do this all day. It's so much fun.
Oh! Ah, ah, ah!
- Cut. - Yeah, good cut.
- Yeah, cut. - Let's cut.
- [Crew] You went far!
- That's all right.
The last shot. - All right.
- Amazing, okay, guys, we are setting up for the Martini.
- Oh, that was fun. - That was fun.
- Amazing. - It was really fun to see it
just 'cause- - Just 'cause-
- I feel like some guys don't,
I feel like they're leaving money on the table.
I feel like, hey, come to my birthday party,
we got this fun thing, you know bouncy castles for adults.
It's like we got big stunt guys that run with you
and throw you. - Throw you. (laughs)
- That'll be such a dope party.
- We should do it.
Ready and start panning. Hit it, Matt!
(planks rattling)
Cut!
- That's good. - That good?
- Playback, Matt. - Checking.
- Was that good, Freddie?
- [Freddie] Yeah, let's take a look, Matt.
- We'll look at playback. - So this is day eight.
There was nothing on the schedule originally.
So we just gone through the edit, this is day eight,
the Marvel Studios additional photography day.
So this is, we have like 25 shots that we've organized.
I think 21 are needs, 4 are wants.
(Matt sniggering)
Okay, reset, good.
Before you decide to sleep-
- Reset! - Before you decide to sleep,
after you look at Vinny lock in on a theoretical Jordan
and Suo, like you look at, like look at both of them,
and then go.
And Jordan, a touch later before you close,
let him look, let him lock eyes with you.
- [Jordan] Copy, okay, copy.
- Okay. - And good job, Freddie.
And action!
- Ah.
- Reset, let the shake of you getting up
be the thing that wakes you up.
- Okay!
- And you're knocked out.
And action!
(faint object clinking)
(boxes thudding)
Reset, your head needs to be more tilted when you're looking at him.
Tilted?
Yeah, like down -- like resting on your shoulder. Yep.
Let your head be looser.
Okay, got it.
And...
Action.
Cut! - That’s a cut
Quick adjustments.
Some quick adjustments and we'll go again.
You’re, you’re, I feel you like... - Oh, yeah, okay. Loosen, loosen up.
Like, your head never gets...
You don’t lock your, you don't move your neck back until you finally --
you don't get your neck back until you finally --
Once you see them, then you lift your head up. You’re still just loose.
Okay, so... - So loose the whole time.
And then once you lock eyes...
And the only thing is, once you lock eyes just to sell that thing, be like...
Give me a moment where you're like "What do I do? What?"
Oh, like. Oh longer, longer. - Like, you thinking about what to do.
Let me... I need you to thinking what to do.
Yeah. Yeah, give me a little "Ah, I got it."
Okay.
Yeah, I buy it. - Okay?
Okay.
All right. I’ll just cue you.
Essentially, once I release mine,
I go in. - You go in, okay.
It’ll be near the end of this thing.
Let’s roll camera and sound.
Sound rolls.
Rolling!
Are you rolling? Are you rolling on your BTS?
Yeah.
This POV of Justin in the movie.
B speed.
He's right here.
P-11-2. - P-11-2.
Alright.
Okay.
And...
Come on fellas, you like the food, right?
So dig deep.
Every little bit counts.
The return on investment could be incredible!
The ROI on -- The ROI on this one's going to be ridiculous.
Telling you, I’m telling you, this sort of food's in right now.
I'm telling you,
with all the trends, this kind of food is in
Okay.
That. A little more desperate. And go.
Come on. I'm telling you, the trends are clear.
This kind of food is in right now.
All right.
Count me in.
Yeah.
There you go.
Danny Wong.
Yeah! There you go.
That was it!
Yeah. Love it.
There we go...
Bubble time.
This is the base. This is the base plate.
Well you haven't gotten the bubble.
Yeah, it seems like you really have to get lucky with the bubble.
This isn't forming a membrane.
No, no.
I had it just a second ago.
Let the doctor inspect.
Did you test this one or no?
That’s what we’re doing right now.
I have a funnel in my car.
Oh, yeah.
Hi. - Hello.
We’re doing science.
The smoke bubble.
Oh there it is.
It kinda looks like an egg.
How do you say that about eggs?
I was just trying to get a bigger one than yours.
Just being competitive?
No -- because the bubble that we used at Freddie was close but like, not...
This is your brain on vape.
Don't do drugs, kids.
Whoa.
That's pretty cool.
Alright. Here we go. Right here.
Matt, can you go a little higher? Because it’s...
What, hold on.
Don't set it yet.
It’s happening.
I need to be straight to the back
And then that... that’s find to center there.
If that’s straight. Yeah.
Matt, can you be higher? Because it’s too dissipated right at the top.
It's too clumped at the top.
little bit lower.
Come to right here. - Come this way.
Come right here. Come this way a little bit, Matt.
This is center of frame, so right there.
Keep going, just load it.
Load it up.
There we go.
That looked pretty good. - That looked pretty ****ing good.
Let’s do playback.
I think that was it.
I think that was it, too.
Yung, y’all, we're good to... - Yeah.
Good to wrap? Wanna do the stunt guys? - Okay.
Okay, everybody,
if we can bring our stunts team to set
and everyone can gather round, please.
Take it away, Freddie.
That's a wrap on the stunt team!
Freddie! Freddie!
They’re not a single unit. Give them names!
A wrap on who?
Everybody please-- Vinny!
My double, Cameron!
The spin kicker-- Jordan!
Where’s Suo? Where’s Suo?
Liu!
Yay!
And Yung! - Yung!
This whole thing is nothing without these folks, - Yes.
So let’s give them a hand. Thank you. - Absolutely.
You kept Freddie safe.
And I’m uninjured!
Watch me break an ankle as we’re doing the dialogue.
Booooo! - Noooo!
Nah, thank you so much - Thank you guys.
All right, turning it on.
Blast them.
This must be what freakin' James Cameron thought
when he saw the camera finally go into the trench.
I've no idea what it's gonna look like up there, dude.
Oh, yeah. - Hey.
Look at him. There's our hero.
That pretty much...
That pretty much just works, Freddie.
Good?
Cut!
You got two diff... you got multiple versions.
Happy? - Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Good.
Is that... - Yeah.
Yeah. That's wrap. - Okay.
So officially, yeah? - Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
All right, let’s have all the crew gather round everybody.
I wanna go home though, I don’t wanna gather.
Okay, everybody, that is a wrap.
On our Nail House Action Sequence!
Party mode, are you kidding?
Finished! Got it.
Justin! - How you feeling big guy?
How you feeling?
Uh, good.
I dunno.
I just want to go edit now.
It's fine.
I'm just glad... I'm relieved we got everything.
Other than we have, like, five pickups that we know we have to get,
But they’re all like food inserts and...
Whatever. Stuff that we don't need the whole crew for, so.
But I feel relieved.
It's good, it's done.
The shooting part’s done.
I think this is the most complete we’ve been
ending a shoot, though.
I think it’s literally just like 2 or 3 inserts that we already knew ahead of time.
Usually we have... as we edit, we find lots of stuff we still need but
because we've been editing as it goes, I think we're really...
I think we're locked in.
Whoa.
You're still here.
I see.
I can tell you are of a...
More serious persuasion.
Come closer.
Just like Tarkovsky dropping an
interminable driving sequence
at the beginning of "Solaris,"
I dropped a very long

I have something for you.
Right here.

Experience the real work.
I can't guarantee much, but I can say
you will not find fuller
