0:01 Tonight from across Australia and around
0:04 the world, it's time to look back and
0:06 unpack the week from the cheap seats.
0:09 And now here,
0:16 so great to have your company. So much
0:18 happening here at home and around the
0:20 world. And what a week it's been.
0:21 Massive. Got a lot to get through. Let's
0:23 go. Have you ever wondered how many
0:25 people can fit inside a yard? Sorry,
0:27 that's not where I would have started.
0:29 Sorry, Peter Dutton. We still can't find
0:31 a seat, which is interesting. That's
0:33 perfect. Well, speaking of the
0:35 coalition, massive news with the
0:36 Nationals splitting from the Liberals.
0:38 The coalition is breaking up. The
0:41 Nationals say they are done with the
0:43 Liberals. Well, nine news we're
0:45 covering. Coming up in nine's morning
0:47 news, where is Betsy? See the utterly
0:50 outrageous heist. Where is Betsy? Where
0:52 is Betsy? These are two huge stories.
0:55 Massive news this morning. The Nationals
0:57 splitting from the coalition. Their
0:58 leader, David Little Proud, announced it
1:00 at a press conference this morning. But
1:02 my eye was drawn to Bridget McKenzie in
1:04 the background of the press conference.
1:05 Would you ever get back together if the
1:07 Libs voted to support or in
1:09 philosophically supported a ban on live
1:11 sheep export? No. And I made that very
1:13 clear in the last parliament.
1:16 Uh okay. Making it very clear. David and
1:19 Bridget are splitting. There's no doubt
1:20 about that. I'm very excited for the
1:22 third side of the chief seats.
1:24 We're moving on now and staying with
1:26 politics. Big week for Anthony Albanesi.
1:28 His first overseas trip with Indonesian
1:30 President PBO Subanto with defense and
1:34 trade on the menu. That's actually the
1:36 French president Emanuel Macaron.
1:39 He was there as well.
1:42 Beautiful. Do you want to split from
1:43 this show after that show? I think so.
1:45 I'm going to be with Betsy. Anthony
1:47 Abanzi arrived in Indonesia where he was
1:50 given a full military welcome. All of
1:53 those people came in the one yaris which
1:54 was amazing. Yeah, that was great for
1:57 the prime minister. This was an
1:58 important trip. Anthony Albanzy looking
2:00 to expand our free trade agreement. Just
2:03 looking at that image, I reckon the
2:05 Indonesian president is looking to
2:06 expand.
2:09 His buttons are under pressure. Yes, I
2:11 think his legs have split just like the
2:13 coalition. That's amazing. Well, this
2:15 was a packed trip for the prime
2:16 minister. A heavy and detailed agenda
2:19 for the prime minister for one of our
2:21 most consequential bilateral
2:23 relationships. Most important meeting.
2:25 So what did he get up to? Anthony
2:27 Albanesei presented a gift to the
2:29 president's cat who made a guest
2:31 appearance at a formal dinner. Yes. And
2:35 feeding feeding the cat some hand
2:37 sanitizer. So that's
2:39 beautiful. Elbow got to hold the
2:41 president's cat.
2:44 [Applause]
2:47 And I don't think the cat is so pleased
2:49 about it. Trying to wrestle away. Looks
2:51 like no world leader can get away with
2:53 grabbing
2:56 Confusing.
2:58 [Applause]
3:00 That footage reminded us of one of our
3:02 favorite stories here at the Cheap Seats
3:03 from 2023 about a lost cat from
3:05 Queensland that was very happy to be
3:07 home. Yes.
3:14 It's good to be home. It's good to be
3:16 home.
3:19 Good to be home. Good to be home. Back
3:22 to Indonesia. Now,
3:25 I also invite your excellency, Prime
3:27 Minister, to stay. I will ask you to
3:31 ride a horse with me. Wow. I can't wait
3:35 for the Brokeback M mountain sequel.
3:37 That looks amazing. And judging by the
3:39 president, that horse will have a broken
3:40 back, too, by the way.
3:43 After Indonesia, Anthony Albanesey
3:45 headed to Rome for the Pope's
3:46 inauguration and for meetings on the
3:48 sidelines with world leaders looking to
3:50 secure a deal with the European Union. A
3:52 deal with the European Union. We support
3:54 free and fair trade. We're up for a
3:57 deal, but not any deal at any price.
3:59 Okay. Well, a deal is coming through.
4:00 Can we have a look at that deal? Okay.
4:03 And we're saying no deal. No deal. Well,
4:05 the PM was in Rome for the Pope's first
4:07 mass. Not just the prime minister.
4:09 Australia sent a senior delegation to
4:11 Rome. Pilgrims gathering in great number
4:13 in St. Peter's Square. You know, I said
4:15 to all the boys in the Mount Barker
4:17 footie club, I'm heading over to Rome
4:19 and I might as well go and meet the
4:20 Pope. And they said, you'll never do
4:21 that. And I said, well, yes, I did.
4:24 He's like, can can you turn this water
4:26 into
4:27 Bundy? Well, the Pope celebrated his
4:31 inauguration mass and world leaders
4:33 lined up to meet the new pope. There's
4:35 the Italian Prime Minister Georgia
4:36 Maloney, the US Vice President J. D.
4:38 Vance, Vladimir Zalinski from Ukraine,
4:41 Prince Edward from the UK. This guy's
4:43 interesting. He's the president of the
4:44 Mount Barker footie club. Oh, that's
4:46 amazing. Would you believe that is
4:48 amazing? And the Pope was out and about
4:50 blessing the faithful. He blessed
4:51 babies. Blessed babies. Last several
4:54 babies. This reporter even wanted his
4:56 laptop blessed. Beautiful moments.
4:59 Reckon go to the Genius Bar, not not the
5:01 Pope. But tributes continue. The pope
5:03 clicked control alter delete. Oh wow.
5:05 That's that was good. That was I'm
5:09 splitting from this show.
5:11 Tribies continue to come in for Pope
5:13 Leo, including another another new
5:16 sandwich named in his honor. It's called
5:18 the Epapa Leo, and it's full of
5:21 symbolism. Lamb for the lamb of God, ham
5:24 for the richness of the church, Sriracha
5:26 to represent the blood of Christ, and
5:28 beef from Bitsy the stolen cow. That's
5:30 beautiful. and a pickle to represent the
5:33 pickle Jesus found himself in on the
5:35 cross. Beautiful touch. Love my
5:38 sandwich. Moving on now and staying
5:40 overseas, President Donald Trump wrapped
5:42 up his tour of the Middle East this
5:44 week. Here he is in Saudi Arabia.
5:46 Interesting. Those are the three
5:47 portraits of the last three Movember
5:49 winners. Amazing. And uh Saudi Arabia
5:53 went to great lengths to impress the
5:55 president. The Saudis have rolled out a
5:56 mobile McDonald's for the president's
5:58 visit. This is amazing. Wow. Wow. It's
6:01 the Big Mac represents um heart disease.
6:04 Does it really? It's so beautiful. Well,
6:06 Saudi Arabia and McDonald's actually
6:07 have a great deal on at the moment. You
6:09 get a burger, fries, nuggets, and a
6:11 shake. All for just 9.95.
6:14 Great value. Great value.
6:18 Moving on now. And Trump made a number
6:20 of announcements on the tour. He spoke
6:22 to a room full of Saudi Arabian business
6:24 leaders where they played his favorite
6:26 song.
6:31 Do they even know it's a gay anthem? I
6:33 don't think they do.
6:35 I think it's fine. Trump then headed to
6:37 the United Arab Emirates. Then receiving
6:40 the UAE's highest civilian honor, the
6:43 Medal of Duty Freedom, which is a a
6:46 beautiful symbol. The UAE gave Trump an
6:50 interesting welcome. He was greeted with
6:51 a striking display of Emirati culture.
6:54 Dozens of women line the palace walkway,
6:56 flipping their long hair rhythmically
6:58 from side to side. Okay, for for a guy
7:00 with a comb over, is that a welcome or a
7:02 to?
7:04 This is genuinely amazing. Can we learn
7:06 more? This dramatic and synchronized
7:08 performance combines poetry, percussion,
7:10 and a Pantene commercial. Yes, one of
7:13 the great honors. Generous use of the
7:15 word synchronized there. Uh, well,
7:17 moving on. In a big week of elections
7:18 around the world, elections this week in
7:20 Portugal, Romania, Poland, and the
7:21 Philippines. The Philippines where
7:23 former president Rodrigo Duterte has
7:26 been elected mayor in his home city of
7:28 Dvau. Friend of the show. I was watching
7:31 Filipino TV. Mel, they do elections a
7:33 little differently.
7:35 [Music]
7:38 So they've got three hosts on the desk
7:40 and their chief election correspondent,
7:42 Lazy Susan on the left. Yes.
7:45 Does a wonderful job. Then there are the
7:47 hosts.
7:52 Matan
7:53 2025 special coverage. You could have
7:56 saved money if you just got one host
7:58 saying it. Synchronized hosting. I think
8:00 they had some roving reporters. There
8:02 they are.
8:05 Well done for the 20s. So in Australia,
8:07 election night panels look like this.
8:10 Australia Votes, your home of the
8:11 election. Nine of Australia's best
8:13 journalists. While in the Philippines,
8:17 they've just got the two hosts. There
8:19 they are. there. Oh yeah. Oh, you're
8:21 plus three. Plus those three. You can't
8:23 forget. Plus two more. Two more to that.
8:25 Yes. Then there's four. We're up to 13
8:28 in total now. Okay. Now we're up to 17.
8:31 Oh, possible. That's 21 now. Five more.
8:34 How many reporters are on this coverage?
8:37 They had 51 reporters. They're
8:41 multiplying. How did they all get home?
8:46 We're going to take a break. back with
8:47 more of the chain states right after the
8:49 base.
