0:08 hi my name is jonathan dunn and this is the
0:10 the
0:14 second in a series of short talks called
0:14 called
0:21 i have in front of me a photo
0:22 photo
0:24 of a tree
0:31 the tree has the trunk going upwards and
0:33 then it
0:35 divides into the different branches that
0:37 are beginning to bud
0:40 and i think the tree is very symbolic
0:41 symbolic
0:45 of what must happen to the ego
0:48 in this life the ego is quite
0:50 unyielding quite obstinate
0:52 obstinate
0:55 like the trunk of a tree it has
0:58 no way in no way out it just stands
1:01 there and resists
1:04 but somehow that trunk has to
1:08 divide into branches which
1:10 develop buds which become
1:14 flowers which give rise to fruit
1:17 so i think really in front of us
1:19 we have an example of what must happen
1:20 to the ego
1:22 ego
1:25 in this life it has to divide
1:27 divide flour
1:29 flour fruit
1:31 fruit
1:35 it cannot just remain
1:36 an object line
1:38 line
1:41 and we looked in the first video
1:45 at how this uh line
1:49 uh divides us one from another and leads
1:51 to conflict
1:54 and really comes from the idea of the
1:58 author that things begin with us this is
2:00 what enables us to draw a line and to
2:03 say that from this point
2:05 it's mine
2:07 whereas if you take the view that we are
2:09 translators which is the view that i take
2:10 take
2:14 then things pass through you they do not
2:16 begin with you and i think it's a very important
2:18 important
2:21 mental shift that we need to make that
2:23 things do not begin with us
2:26 they pass through us
2:29 now we saw in the first video
2:31 how god am created
2:33 created
2:35 a countable noun an
2:36 an
2:40 he drew a line around us so that
2:43 while we're still contained within him
2:46 we are able to make our own choices we
2:49 have free will
2:50 we on the other hand
2:53 uh have been born
2:55 into this world and
2:56 we really
3:00 set about drawing lines around things
3:03 packaging them
3:05 in order to deal in them
3:08 to trade to make a profit so our
3:11 motivation is very different and don't
3:13 forget that it's this definition this drawing
3:14 drawing
3:16 a line
3:18 around that makes something countable
3:20 that causes all the problems to our
3:23 environment because it's the packaging
3:26 what's left behind after the product has
3:28 been consumed
3:29 that pollutes
3:31 our environment
3:34 uh our land are
3:37 oceans so it's this idea of the
3:39 countable noun that draw a line around
3:41 something so that you can count what's
3:44 coming in and what's going out
3:46 is really what's causing so many problems
3:48 problems
3:53 so
3:54 i think in
3:58 human life in human history there is
4:01 a progression very important for me fundamental
4:03 fundamental from
4:04 from a
4:05 a
4:07 to i to
4:08 to o
4:13 a is creation it's the beginning of the alphabet
4:15 alphabet am
4:16 am created
4:17 created an
4:19 an
4:22 uh a countable noun a
4:24 separate human being in as far as it is
4:28 possible to be separate from god look at
4:30 the name of the first man
4:32 man adam
4:33 adam
4:36 again we have the letter a if you read
4:41 adam in reverse it spells made
4:44 so i think a refers to
4:46 the creation i
4:48 i
4:50 refers to the ego the full
4:52 where we are
4:56 now that is many egos all with our own
4:58 desires our own will
5:00 will all
5:01 all
5:03 pulling quite often in separate directions
5:05 directions
5:08 and we need to move away from the ego uh
5:11 uh and
5:12 and
5:14 open the line so that we
5:17 make the progression from i to
5:18 to o
5:20 o
5:22 the o is an open line it's like a
5:24 plastic bag and you
5:27 blow air and it opens it's also
5:31 realization where you suddenly say oh
5:32 oh
5:34 like you've suddenly understood
5:35 something and this
5:39 progression from a to i to o
5:42 can be found in language let's look at
5:44 the uh
5:45 question words what
5:47 what
5:49 in creation
5:53 what are you going to call this when god
5:56 asks adam to name the creatures
5:59 why is very much the question word of
6:01 the full why should i do this
6:04 why should i believe you and
6:05 and who
6:05 who [Music]
6:07 [Music]
6:10 is the question we should be asking who
6:10 who [Music]
6:14 so what why
6:16 why who
6:17 who
6:21 contains this progression a i o
6:22 o
6:25 let's look at another example amen
6:27 amen
6:31 if you acquiesce to god's will
6:34 for example in the creation god asks
6:36 adam to name the creatures and he does
6:38 this he says amen [Music]
6:39 [Music]
6:41 our men with the letters rearranged spells
6:42 spells mean
6:43 mean and
6:44 and name
6:45 name
6:48 so he named the creatures he gave them meaning
6:49 meaning
6:51 but if you make the progression from a
6:54 to i
6:58 instead of saying amen you say
7:02 mine you take possession you say what is
7:05 here even though i didn't create it it
7:07 was here before i was born
7:10 is mine you make yourself the author
7:12 and that's very much
7:14 what's happening at the moment
7:16 if you make the progression then from i
7:18 to o
7:21 mine becomes nemo
7:22 nemo
7:23 the latin word for
7:26 no one and that is a reference to god
7:29 the father as we shall see in the next video
7:31 video
7:33 there are many examples this progression
7:35 from i to o
7:38 for example look at a fundamental word
7:40 like live
7:43 if you turn live around if you pervert
7:44 it somehow you get evil
7:46 evil
7:48 live back to front is
7:49 is
7:51 evil but if you make the progression
7:53 from i to o if you
7:56 open the ego and allow it to
8:00 flower and to fruit it becomes love
8:03 the eye of live
8:05 becomes the o of
8:06 of love
8:10 sin
8:13 is where we indulge our own selfish
8:16 desires at the expense of the other
8:20 again if you open the ego that becomes son
8:21 son
8:24 you become a child of
8:24 of god
8:26 god
8:29 so it's very important to understand
8:32 this progression from a to i to o you
8:35 cannot go back to the garden of eden
8:37 you cannot go from a to i and then back
8:38 to a
8:40 you must move
8:44 forward from a to i
8:46 to o
8:51 and this progression a i o is at the
8:53 basis of
8:55 language it can be seen in
8:59 many words but it requires
9:01 a certain spiritual vision you need to
9:04 be able to
9:06 see it it's a little hidden
9:08 hidden
9:10 perhaps we'll be able to look at that a
9:16 so the ego is a line just like the
9:18 number one
9:21 because we don't start counting from
9:24 zero which is the o
9:26 that's where we should be
9:30 we start counting from one from the ego and
9:31 and
9:34 the three ways as far as i can see of
9:37 moving away from the line
9:42 that divides us as human beings [Music]
9:43 [Music] are
9:45 are
9:53 where we make reference to a third point
9:58 and we bring god into the conversation
9:59 the cross
10:02 where we draw a line through the ego the
10:04 cross is basically
10:11 and the circle
10:12 where we
10:14 open the line
10:16 or if you like
10:18 we treat the line as a number one
10:20 and we count down
10:21 to zero so
10:23 so
10:24 i think
10:27 that the three ways of moving
10:30 away from the line
10:32 are the triangle we make reference to a
10:34 third point
10:36 the cross we draw
10:39 a line through the line we cross the line
10:41 line
10:42 and the circle we
10:44 we open
10:45 open
10:48 the line
10:50 these are the three ways the three symbols
10:52 symbols
10:55 that represent ways of moving away from
10:56 from the
10:57 the ego
11:00 ego
11:02 now i wonder if you can see anything
11:03 anything here
11:05 here
11:08 uh i wonder if we can
11:11 make these letters for example
11:14 the triangle is very close to the letter
11:16 capital letter a
11:22 so i shall draw a
11:23 a
11:26 underneath the triangle
11:30 the cross while it is a symbol of suffering
11:31 suffering
11:34 is also a plus sign and i think this is
11:37 what christ means when he says
11:40 you must lose your life the cross
11:44 in order to find it the plus
11:52 so the cross
11:55 and this is the paradox of christianity
11:57 is also a
12:01 plus sign i think paradox is a sign
12:06 and the
12:08 circle is the letter o
12:10 o
12:12 so the three symbols we talked about for
12:16 moving away from the line
12:18 give us a
12:20 a and
12:20 and [Music]
12:22 [Music] o
12:24 o
12:26 this is the name
12:28 of god alpha
12:30 alpha and
12:32 and omega
12:34 omega
12:36 so when we move
12:39 away from the ego
12:41 we necessarily move
12:42 move
12:45 towards god
12:47 and this is why uh
12:51 the words ego and god
12:53 are only separated by a step in the alphabet
12:54 alphabet d
12:55 d
12:57 to e
13:03 a and o
13:04 o alpha
13:05 alpha and
13:07 and omega
13:11 and what's very interesting for me is that
13:12 that
13:14 in the middle conjunction
13:15 conjunction
13:18 and between alpha omega
13:19 omega and
13:21 and
13:23 you have the same three symbols if you
13:24 write and
13:29 in capital letters you have a
13:30 you have n
13:31 n
13:33 which is used
13:35 to represent and
13:36 and
13:39 in for example rock and roll
13:41 and you have the letter
13:44 d which is a capital d is very similar
13:47 to a capital o
13:49 in the middle conjunction
13:51 and you've got a
13:52 a um
13:53 um o
13:54 o
13:56 a n o
13:59 alpha and omega so it is
14:01 a plus
14:04 when we give ourselves
14:06 to god
14:10 we lose our life in order to find it
14:12 and it is in our
14:15 dna to do this
14:18 it is part of our makeup
14:19 to be
14:22 with god and this is why and
14:24 in reverse reads dna
14:26 dna
14:34 so when we move away from the line we
14:37 form three symbols triangle cross
14:38 cross circle
14:40 circle
14:42 these three symbols can be read
14:45 a and
14:47 o which is the name of god in the book
14:48 of revelation alpha
14:49 alpha and
14:50 and
14:53 omega and these three symbols are found
14:56 in the very common
14:59 conjunction and
15:01 which in reverse reads dna
15:06 now
15:07 there are
15:14 uh in europe
15:18 uh that we study uh the latin alphabet
15:20 that we use
15:23 and the greek alphabet which would stand
15:25 for philosophy and theology
15:28 theology
15:30 the greek alphabet
15:32 makes this progression that i was
15:35 talking about earlier from a
15:36 to i to
15:37 to
15:39 o because the last letter of the greek
15:41 alphabet is
15:44 omega which is a long o
15:45 o
15:46 the greek alphabet
15:48 makes this progression
15:50 a to i to
15:51 to o
15:53 o
15:55 but the latin alphabet that we use in
15:57 the west which might be taken to
15:59 represent rationalism
16:02 reliance on the self trade
16:03 trade
16:05 making money
16:08 does not make this progression the latin alphabet
16:10 alphabet
16:12 goes from a to
16:13 to i
16:15 i to
16:16 to zed
16:18 zed
16:20 now zed
16:24 very closely resembles the number two
16:26 two
16:28 so while the greek alphabet which
16:32 represents philosophy and theology counts
16:33 counts down
16:34 down
16:36 it goes a to i
16:38 to o one
16:39 one to
16:39 to zero
16:40 zero
16:43 the latin alphabet which represents
16:46 rationalism reliance on the self
16:49 trade counts up
16:51 it goes from a to
16:51 to i
16:53 i to
16:53 to z
16:55 z
16:56 or one
16:58 to two
17:00 when you start to count up
17:04 when you start to count your riches
17:07 there is no end you will never
17:09 reach the end and this is the problem we
17:12 face in the world today
17:14 how to resolve this problem of
17:16 of production
17:18 production
17:20 the economy
17:23 pollution the environment
17:26 we don't in a way know how to stop when
17:27 the answer
17:29 is right behind us
17:32 all we need to do is not go from one to two
17:33 two
17:37 but from one to zero when you reach zero you
17:38 you
17:40 stop you find rest
17:43 rest
17:44 you are at
17:44 at peace
17:46 peace
17:49 and i would like to look at
17:51 the letter zero in greater depth in the
17:54 next video and in particular the concept
17:55 of the trinity
17:56 trinity
17:59 father son and holy spirit another
18:01 another
18:05 christian paradox how can god
18:06 be three in
18:07 in one
18:09 one
18:12 it doesn't seem to make sense that but
