did you know salt can melt ice and
prevent water from freezing let's break
down the signs normally water freezes at
0° C because molecules slow down and
form a solid structure but when you add
salt it disrupts the freezing process
the sodium and chloride ions get in the
way making it harder for ice to form
this forces water to freeze at an even
lower temperature and this phenomenon is
called depression and freezing point
that's why we sprinkle salt on icy roads
it keeps water from freezing and
prevents slippery surfaces now you know
salt isn't just for flavor it's for
physics too for more such interesting
