In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Your brothers in the
Radio of the Followers of the Sunnah, Scientific Najat, are pleased to present to
you a series of lessons in interpretation by Sheikh Hassan Al-
Mardawi, may God guide him [music]
[music]
Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and prayers and peace be
upon Muhammad, his family and all his companions.
God Almighty said, “I seek refuge in God
from Satan, the accursed. And when
Abraham and Ishmael raised the foundations of the House, “Our Lord,
accept from us, for You are the Hearing, the Knowing.”
Here in this blessed verse
we mention issues
mentioned by the people of knowledge
when explaining
these verses. Yes, the first
in it is
that God Almighty ordered the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, to mention Abraham, peace be upon him,
here. And when he raises means
in it he mentioned Abraham, peace be upon him.
Yes, mention, O Muhammad,
peace be upon him, the status of Abraham when he raised the
foundations. And when Abraham raises the foundations. Some of the
people of knowledge said in this verse an
allusion to some of what the people of
interpretation said, that the foundations were
built before Abraham, because some of the
people of interpretation said that Adam was the one who laid the foundations, meaning the
the foundations, meaning the
first to build the Kaaba. This is a statement and there are some traces of it,
traces of it,
but what was mentioned in the Quran is that Abraham And when
Abraham raised the foundations, and when
Abraham raised the foundations, they
said here is evidence that the foundations existed and Abraham
raised them, and God knows best, but the well-known is that
Abraham, peace be upon him, is the one who ordered the
construction of the Kaaba, and when Abraham raised the foundations of the
house, and Ishmael, meaning with his son Ishmael,
and when they, meaning they carried out this
great work and this worship, which is building a house for God
Almighty on earth, which is circumambulated by those who circumambulate it
and people come to it from all parts of the inhabited world, they
called upon God Almighty, “Our Lord, accept from us, for You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”
This contains evidence
or proof of the etiquette of the prophets with their Lord, that
if they called upon God Almighty, then if they obeyed
the command of God Almighty, they called upon God
Almighty to accept from them, to accept from them, and they sought intercession with
two attributes from the names of God Almighty, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. The All-Hearing is a
name of God Almighty from the beautiful names of God and includes the attribute of hearing, and the All-
Knowing is a name from the beautiful names of God
Almighty and includes the attribute of knowledge. It was
reported from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said that the Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: Didn’t you see
that when your people built the House, it was
exposed to
floods and other things, so the Quraysh decided to
rebuild it,
but they limited what they built to what it was originally based on
Abraham, peace be upon him. Didn’t you
see this saying of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her: Didn’t you
see that when your people
built the House, they limited it to the foundations of Abraham? I said:
O Messenger of Allah, meaning Aisha, saying to the Prophet, may
Allah bless him and grant him peace. I said: O Messenger of Allah, will you not return it
return it
to the foundations of Abraham? He
said: Had it not been for the
Abdullah ibn Umar said: Because Aisha heard
this from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. I do not think that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, left
left
touching the two corners next to the Black Stone, except that the
House was not built on the foundations of Abraham,
peace be upon him. This is from Ibn Umar, so they understood the hadith of
Aisha, saying: This explains why the Prophet, may
Allah bless him and grant him peace, did not touch anything other than the
Black Stone and the Yemeni Corner, because the
other two corners, meaning they were not as they
were in the era or in the time of Abraham, peace be upon him. And
peace be upon
him, in another hadith also on the authority of Aisha, but in a
different wording, he said, peace and blessings be upon him, O Aisha,
if your people were not recent or recent in their polytheism, I would have demolished the
Kaaba and leveled it to the ground and made for it two doors, an
eastern door and a western door, and I would have added
six cubits of stone to it, because the Quraysh shortened it
when they built the Kaaba, meaning the Quraysh changed the construction of the Kaaba when they built it, so they made for it a door and raised the door
so that no one would enter it except whomever they wanted, and meaning they did
and meaning they did
not extend the construction to the Stone of Ismail, so it was shortened, and
the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, meaning he wanted
that, but he was repelled,
meaning as mentioned in the hadith, fearing that
there would be a greater corruption, and this contains an indication that was
used by scholars as evidence that some of the recommended actions may be abandoned
if there is fear of missing out on a greater benefit or fearing the
said
in, meaning in explaining, the supplication of Abraham, peace and blessings be upon him,
because Abraham, peace and
Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a nation.”
This is also a supplication and a plea to Allah by virtue of His Lordship.
Most of the prophets supplicate by
virtue of His Lordship. Yes, our Lord, and make us Muslims to
You, meaning steadfast in Islam. Likewise, “and from our offspring,”
meaning they supplicate for themselves and their offspring. It is recommended to
supplicate for the offspring to be righteous,
as Allah, the Most High, said: “And those who say, ‘Our Lord,
grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and
make us an example for the righteous. Yes, and show us our rites,” meaning teach us. He taught us the
rites and showed
them to us, as if it were in it, meaning more eloquent in teaching.
teaching. Yes, and it
Yes, and it
is possible, as the scholars have mentioned, that what is meant here by the rites is the rites of
Hajj, and it is possible that what is meant by it are
all the religious teachings, but the context of the verses
suggests that what is meant here by the rites of Hajj is the rites of Hajj.
Hajj.
Also, this verse ends with a statement, meaning what
Abraham and Ishmael, peace be upon them, were
upon of supplication, beseeching, and entreating Allah, the Most
High, and repenting and seeking forgiveness, and this is it. The etiquette of the
prophets with their Lord,
and in that there is a method and a Sunnah for every worker whom
Allah the Almighty has guided to do good deeds, he must
increase his repentance, seeking forgiveness, and supplication that He
accepts from him. Yes, because it is human nature that there
must be some kind of shortcoming or some
kind of
fear, fear that He will not accept from him. Therefore, we
all must increase our supplication and entreaty. The Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him,
used to pray until
his feet cracked, and when he was asked about the
reason for his action, he said, “Should I not be a grateful servant?”
Yes, and here, accept our repentance, for You are the Accepter of Repentance, the Most Merciful. So
if Abraham, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, who is the one whom
Allah the Almighty chose and who is the best of the
prophets after the Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him,
calls for repentance, then what about
others? Yes,
here, the supplication for repentance after good deeds,
as we mentioned, is from the character of the prophets and their etiquette with their
Lord, that along with their good deeds, they ask
Allah the Almighty to accept their repentance, and
Allah the Almighty mentioned the states of the people of faith, that
they are along with their deeds and with their hastening to repent. For good deeds,
they ask Allah Almighty for repentance and
they fear that He will not accept it from them. Allah Almighty said: “And
those who give what they give while their hearts are fearful of Him - indeed,
to their Lord they will return.”
Yes, and Al-Tawwab is one of the names of Allah Almighty that includes the attribute of repentance. Allah Almighty accepts
repentance and Allah Almighty
Almighty
wants to accept the repentance of His servants. Al-Raheem is one
of the names of Allah Almighty that includes the
attribute of mercy. So far, Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You. There is
no god but
You. We ask Your forgiveness and we repent to You. May God’s prayers and peace be upon
