0:00 welcome back to another episode of paint
0:02 society in this episode and in this
0:04 series we're going to take this car
0:06 repair it and give it a full paint job
0:08 and show you all the steps along the way
0:10 with mario paint class
0:13 [Music]
0:18 don't overthink it it's just paint
0:21 and once again thanks for joining me on
0:23 this build series now we're going to
0:25 show you everything there's not
0:26 one good panel on this car that we can
0:29 save so it is a full paint job we're
0:31 going to show you how to deal with faded
0:33 paint peeling paint body damage bondo
0:36 that type of thing to get this thing
0:38 looking beautiful once again so let's
0:40 take a look at the surfaces and what we
0:42 are dealing with all right looking at
0:43 the front end it was hit severely what's
0:46 going on here does this need to be
0:48 replaced obviously yes
0:50 yes we're gonna have to replace the
0:51 fender the bumper and test fit our parts
0:54 so we can see what we're dealing with in
0:57 this case the best thing to do is just
0:59 to get everything completely off the car
1:01 i think we'll probably have to pull it
1:02 on the lift but once we get everything
1:04 fitted let's talk about the rest of the
1:06 paint and what we're going to need to do
1:08 in the future in future episodes taking
1:10 a look at the panels on the car mario's
1:12 gonna explain what we have going on over
1:14 here we have good clear here still right
1:16 yes we have good clear here this is the
1:19 faded paint and over here you have the
1:22 paint the base coat the base coat and
1:23 you can see if we get zoom in a little
1:25 bit those are blisters so anything where
1:27 it's blistering that's where we're gonna
1:28 need to take it down so all right we'll
1:30 have to take down the whole entire roof
1:32 uh you can see it's peeling uh we can
1:34 see the same peeling on all of our flat
1:36 surfaces all the clear peeling off you
1:39 see on this side even the tops of the
1:41 doors where the sun really beat it a lot
1:43 of these cars on this year they just
1:46 completely start to deteriorate
1:48 uh so we're here we're gonna go ahead
1:50 and fix it but the first thing first
1:51 let's make sure that front end is all
1:53 good so let's pull it in
1:59 [Music]
2:07 [Music]
2:11 [Applause]
2:13 [Music]
2:15 [Applause]
2:19 [Music]
2:33 [Applause]
2:39 so
2:45 [Music]
2:55 so
3:05 [Music]
3:14 [Music]
3:32 [Music]
3:34 so
3:38 [Music]
3:46 [Music]
3:49 and just like that we got the whole car
3:51 completely taken apart we still need to
3:53 get these quarter glasses taken out and
3:56 uh we got a nice gap here so we're able
3:59 to do all of our body work with keeping
4:01 the windshield in so what we're going to
4:03 do now is we are going to wash the car
4:06 before you paint you really want to get
4:07 all the greased up get it all cleaned up
4:10 before you start to sand any of those
4:11 contaminants back into the paint so
4:14 let's get this thing washed
4:23 [Music]
4:31 [Music]
4:36 once the vehicle is all washed down
4:38 we're in the most important stage of the
4:40 initial breakdown and basically what
4:43 that is is we're gonna look at the
4:44 panels from the side and we're gonna
4:47 mark
4:48 all of the damage that we have and this
4:50 is so important because once you start
4:52 the sand
4:54 you're not going to be able to see any
4:56 of those dents now all this is is an
4:58 auto rider and it is erasable with just
5:01 some soapy water so basically what i'm
5:03 doing is i'm marking off all of the
5:06 dents on the vehicle you can see over
5:08 here that we have some basic door dings
5:10 now what we're doing is we're going to
5:12 be using the assistance of a pdr tech
5:16 the assistance of a pdr tech is so
5:18 important they do what we call push to
5:20 paint meaning they're going to push out
5:22 these dents and get them ready for paint
5:25 much much quicker in most of the cases
5:28 they'll take these dents out and we
5:29 won't even need to put any filler or
5:31 body work over those dents see we want
5:34 to really
5:35 take it step down and minimize the
5:37 amount of work we have to do and let the
5:39 pros with the dent
5:41 pulling abilities smooth out those
5:44 panels without having to grind into them
5:47 sometimes what you really got to do is
5:49 get low this is the only way you're
5:52 gonna find the dents and let me tell you
5:55 they're gonna see them once a car is
5:57 painted
5:58 this door looks pretty clean
6:02 now over on this fender it's pretty
6:04 buckled out and it's really dinged up
6:07 here now the owner has a new fender but
6:10 if my pdr tech can really save this and
6:13 i only have to go over with filler then
6:15 i plan to keep the original on the car
6:18 so we go around we can see we have all
6:20 of our dents marked off ready for our
6:22 pdr tech to do his magic one of the last
6:26 things to do on the project before we
6:28 start our prepping process is removing
6:31 any of the adhesive or stickers or
6:33 double-sided tape and to do that we're
6:35 going to be using the eraser wheel tool
6:38 now everything you see in this video
6:40 will be linked in the description of the
6:42 video and we're going to use this to
6:44 safely remove it and not damage the
6:46 paint and just to mention this works on
6:48 metal if you're going to use it on
6:49 plastic be prepared because it can gouge
6:52 a plastic unless you go at a very very
6:54 very very
6:55 low speed you might have a chance of not
6:57 ruining it
7:41 one
7:45 [Music]
7:55 with those stickers completely removed
7:57 we are ready to go now a couple other
8:00 things before we end this episode is we
8:03 got
8:04 our windows all removed and the dent guy
8:08 came now we're gonna actually fix this
8:10 with filler we're going to do some
8:11 bodywork on this one later on in the
8:14 series but he came along and he already
8:17 fixed
8:18 all of our dents that we circled and in
8:21 the back here he got this one really
8:24 really straight so we'll just have to
8:25 sand it down and skim it you can see a
8:28 little bit of the ridge still in here so
8:30 it really helps to have a good pdr tech
8:32 help you out so you don't have so much
8:34 filler
8:35 now coming over here you can see all the
8:37 dents have been fixed little dings here
8:39 and there and into the door as well and
8:42 that's going to wrap things up for our
8:44 first episode of the full paint job car
8:46 guide now from here the car is ready to
8:49 enter into the prepping stage and we'll
8:52 see that in the next episode we're going
8:54 to take the old beat up paint and we'll
8:56 show you how far to sand it what can we
8:59 repair what cannot be repaired do we
9:01 need to sand down to metal in certain
9:03 areas and what do we do with previous
9:06 body filler and previous repairs on a
9:08 vehicle also get into how to protect
9:11 that metal from a primer aspect and what
9:14 primer to use when it comes to laying
9:16 down a nice new surface for our paint so
9:19 make sure you check that one out guys i
9:22 hope you learned a lot from this first
9:23 step guide and this is brian from paint
9:25 society reminding you don't overthink it
9:27 it's just paint i'll see you guys on the
9:29 next episode
