A content creator tested the viability of making significant income solely through YouTube Shorts by creating and posting four distinct, original short-form video types over seven days, debunking the "get rich quick" claims often promoted by online gurus.

Anytime I go on YouTube nowadays, I get
hit with a ton of videos like these that
say you could become a millionaire by
posting YouTube shorts or shorts can
make you like a hundred,000 billion
dollars a month. And I want that. I want
that money. So, for the next 7 days,
I'll be posting only YouTube shorts to
see if these gurus are actually right
and to see how much money they can
The way most of these gurus make their
money with shorts is by copying other
YouTubers or clipping other people's
content. And since this channel is the
only one I can make money on, I can't
use those methods cuz it would be weird
if I just had random eyeshow speed clips
on my channel. So, I came up with four
types of shorts that are all original,
have a high chance of getting lots of
views, and will hopefully earn exactly $22.53.
Clips, clip, clip, clip, clip, clip,
clips. The first type is clips.
Clips make up probably 70% of all
YouTube shorts. There are streamer
clips, clips from sports games, top five
clips, compilation, the list goes on.
So, I'm going to have to create and post
a clip. But, as I said earlier, I can't
just post a random clip of someone else.
So, I have to basically go into my own
videos, grab a clip, and make it into
YouTube short format. I've never done
this before, so I'm not sure how well
this is going to work, but we're GOING
TO FIND OUT. ALL RIGHT, so clip just
needs something funny or interesting to
happen. So, I'm using one from this
video where I ate a bunch of food off
Tik Tok shop cuz there are some good
And all I have to do is make it
vertical, add some music and sounds, and
it's basically done. But since my
computer hates me, it froze and shut
down multiple times. So, I kept having
to restart the entire thing. But after
an hour and 15 minutes, I finally got it done.
done.
>> Popping crunch. Uh oh. No. No. This
doesn't look very good. It's just
>> An hour and 15 minutes for that. I tried
to make it exactly like a short clip
should be. Like I even added that
awkward sound, but I don't know. I I'm
not used to doing clips. I'm just very
nervous to see how this does. I guess
All right, it's an hour later and I have
some good news and some bad news. The
good news is it's at 1.5,000 views and
this is probably our weakest video.
Here's the bad news. I looked up how
Are we kidding?
>> Well, if that is the case, I got to get
It's time for type number two. Challenges.
Challenges are probably the second most
popular short type after clips. And
they're just people doing weird things
that look like they're challenging.
Like, what? What is this? What What am I
What AM I WATCHING? WHAT ARE THEY DOING?
I don't understand it. But the biggest
YouTubers in existence spam this type
and they get crazy views. But I'm not
one of the biggest YouTubers. So,
obviously, I don't have the budget or
the production to make a crazy Mr. be
short challenge and that kind of video
just wouldn't fit on the channel anyway.
So, I need to find a workaround and I
think I have one. If you're on shorts at
all, you probably have seen this guy,
Sambucha, and he makes a lot of
different types of shorts, but sometimes
he'll do a challenge video. Like, let's
try to guess the prices of these kids
toys. So, I'm going to do my own
guessing challenge that fits well within
my channel, and it's called, "Are these
To make the short, all I need is a
compilation of five AI and real videos
to react to and judge if they're AI or
not. And usually when YouTubers do these
challenges, they'll have someone make
the compilations for them so their
guesses and reactions will be real. I
don't have that. So, I got to find all
the videos myself and then act like I
haven't seen them before. Three, two,
one. Are these clips real or AI? Ah, I
know what this is. This is the that one
Nepal ritual where they send the lady
fly. Yeah. But yeah, lighting's fine.
The audio is fine. I think this is real.
This is 100% real. This looks This is
definitely real. 100% real. Real. Yes.
Okay, I finished the video. Here it is.
>> Are these looks real or AI? I know what
this is. This is not that rolled when
they send that lady. Yeah. Yeah. 100%
real. I knew it. All right. We got this
POV video of someone doing parkour. This
actually looks pretty real. Yeah.
Nothing's like changing. That was a
little weird. I think this is real. This
is 100% real.
>> Yeah. All right. We're on the hospital
right now. This is definitely AI. Yeah.
Okay. Okay. I'm good. What are we doing
or not? I don't even care if that's
real. I don't care.
>> This is definitely AI. Unless driving
the car or something.
>> Riveting. I know. I'm going to schedule
to post it in 2 days cuz I want all of
our videos to get a fair chance to get
the most views that they can. But this
video is so much better than the last
one, and I'm really excited to do the
next two. So, I scheduled the video to
go up in a couple days and remembered
that we have to hit 10 million views to
make just $22. I hope that's not true,
but our third type could potentially get
I am really excited for today cuz we get
This is the type that I'm used to making
and it's used by a bunch of YouTubers
like these guys. So, I started to write
mine and it's got to be a story that
fits my channel. So, the idea is that I
scroll a particular app for 24 hours
straight and get addicted. Oh, what app
you are asking? This Sora by Open AI.
>> Tell you what, if you ain't cheating,
you ain't eating.
Little secret between friends.
>> What are you talking about, Bob Ross?
Okay, so the story is going to go like
this. I'm going to start off saying,
"What happens if you watch only AI for
24 hours straight?" And first I'll
scroll through the app and have some
weird reactions. But then as I get more
and more addicted, I start turning into
AI more and more until it overloads my
system. And then I end up passing out
and waking up and everything's AI. I
All right, I record a few of the
beginning clips, but I have to add
That a piece of chocolate cake on a
branch. All right, tree climbing. It is
almost there. Got it. M worth it. Oh,
that's rich. I'm feeling kind of heavy.
Oh, no.
Overall, it took around an hour and a
half to get all these shots done, which
is a crazy amount of work for a
35-second video. And for some reason, I
saved the hardest shot for last. I had
to get a bucket hat and tape my phone to
it. So, when I got up out of my bed, it
would be recording my POV.
No, no, NO, NO, NO, NO. PLEASE, NO, NO,
NO, NO. THAT I I think we're good. I
think that's good. But then came the
editing, and this one was definitely the
hardest to edit. This video required a
voice over, an entire soundtrack, and
lots and lots of visual effects, which
takes a long time, and it was starting
to wear on me, but I got to hit 10
million views, so it has to be perfect.
And after 8 hours of writing, filming,
and editing, I finally finished it.
Here it is. What happens if I watch AI
videos for 24 hours straight? So, I
opened the app and started off extremely
confused as I saw a giant cat breaking
into a house, Jake Paul making a
smoothie, and this HOLD ON, HOLD ON,
HOLD ON. IS THAT ME? But as time went
on, things started to make more sense,
and I started to enjoy it somehow. And
so, I scrolled on into the night,
feeding my new addiction more and more.
But eventually, it became too much, and
No, no, no.
>> Okay, I'm going to schedule it now.
>> So, I threw myself into bed in
celebration because we cooked the vit
fire, but I saved the best for last. The
final type will have our biggest stakes yet.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for the
These videos involve somebody
interacting with strangers, usually to
ask questions or to give them money for
something. So, that is what I'll be
doing. But a video like this wouldn't
fit on my channel. So, I'm going to do
it on Twitch, the popular live streaming
platform, Twitch. So, the plan is I'm
going to find a really small streamer.
I'm going to ask them if I donate some
money to you, will you do anything I
say? And they are going to say yes. that
I'm going to donate five smackers and
they're going to go they're going to go
crazy. So, I began searching for our
streamer and I quickly realized this was
going to be so much harder than I
thought. Most of the streamers were
focused on their games and just not
wanting to do anything crazy. And the
more I looked, the weirder the streams
got. I saw people streaming themselves
studying, people streaming breakfast at
IHOP, and then the pinnacle >> because
>> because
>> actually I'd make friends with all the
food first, you know, get to know them
before BEFORE EATING.
>> THERE'S AI NEWS. AND I WAS BEGINNING TO
lose hope, not just in humanity, but in
me finding the perfect streamer. But
after 30 minutes, I think I found the one.
one.
>> All right, I found a guy called Bean.
>> There's like like Oh my gosh,
Christopher. Um, hi. I'm guessing that's Allan.
Allan.
>> This guy thinks I'm Allan.
>> I am Alan.
>> Whoever you are, I'm guessing. Hey, I
am. Okay. Hi, Alan. Hi, Alan.
>> He thinks I'm Allan. If I donate to you,
will you do anything I say?
>> Yes, Alan. I will. I would. >> Okay.
>> Okay.
>> I don't do I don't know if I have
donations set up to be honest, but yeah,
I will do anything.
>> Okay, this guy's going to do anything.
Okay, I I told him if he sets up
donations, I'll donate. Come on. Come
on. Come on. Please, please. No, I'll
probably figure it out for next time. Maybe.
Maybe.
>> This is your only chance.
>> This is your only chance. I will do it.
Okay. Well, I don't know how to set it
up, Alan.
>> I'll have Okay, I'll have one look. Uh, >> please.
Yeah, Ben didn't want to figure out
donations. I begged and I pleaded and I
even bought some Twitch bits to send to
him which I realized I couldn't do and
he just didn't want to set it up
>> out. I mean, you could just keep the
money. I don't I don't need it.
>> All right, Ben. I have tried. I will see
you later.
>> as much of a let down as that was, I
think we got the strat. All I got to do
is find a Minecraft streamer that has
donations enabled and we could probably
do it. It might take a while though. So
later I got back on the grind and still
I was getting no results. I had a bad
feeling that Ben was our one shot at
this and we missed it. So even though I
didn't want to, I kept looking. I went
through a few streams and some people
gave some interest but didn't want to do
anything crazy or would just suggest
something boring like doing push-ups.
But yeah, most people didn't care and
just wanted to play their games. So, I
probably wasn't going to get this clip
and I definitely wasn't getting 10
million views and $22. So, I was ready
to pack it up until I met this guy. I
got Antum here. Yo, what's up?
>> What's up, bro? How you living? Right
now, we're at the 46 hour mark.
>> This guy's been streaming for 46 hours.
>> This is my version of a marathon. I'm
live until I hit 500 followers at least.
It's free. So,
>> he's got 31 followers. He's going live
until he
>> be live for like a month straight.
That'd be amazing.
>> All right, I'll give you a follow, bro.
>> Hell yeah, bro. I appreciate the follow.
>> What happens if I donate?
>> I literally haven't heard that follow
noise in so long.
I have no idea. I have I have no idea.
>> I can donate if you do something crazy.
>> What do you mean if I do something
crazy? What do you want me to do? If I
donate, can you do a crazy food combo?
>> Yo, my man, I don't even know if I got
food in the house.
That's probably streaming, my guy. I'm
trying to make it. Let me see if I even
have FOOD IN MY HOUSE.
>> WE GOT SOME CHICKEN. We got some taco
sauce, mayo, Italian dress, sweet
pickles, strawberry jam.
>> Ooh. All right. He doesn't have much,
but strawberry jam could be crazy with
Come on.
>> Okay, let me go get THE CONCOCTION.
>> LET'S GO. HE'S DOING IT.
>> I hate pickles. I hate pickles.
Oh, I hate pickles.
>> He's going in.
>> Low key, this isn't even that crazy of a
combo though, now that I'm thinking
about it. Dude, this isn't bad at all.
All right, IT'S DONE. LET'S GO. >> NASTY.
>> NASTY.
>> All right, I'mma donate. The featherfly
client's lit. Everyone knows that. Who
uses that? >> Yo.
>> Yo. >> Yo,
that's crazy, bro.
>> Let's go. I really appreciate it. That's
You're my first ever tip, bro. Yo, I'm
about to tell my girlfriend, call her,
and tell her we made it. Yo, babe. $20
tip, bro. We made it. We made it.
She hates me. She's at nursing right now.
now.
>> I really appreciate it, bro.
>> Your name is definitely you're
definitely 100% a top donor.
>> You're the only person who's ever
donated. That's
>> Let's go. And so, for a little while
longer, I watched this guy and had an
amazing time. For all you stream
watchers, go follow Antsome 6 on Twitch.
This guy is great, and I just want to
see him hit his goal of 500 followers
cuz he definitely deserves it. But
enough playing around. I got to edit.
And here's the final short. What happens
if I donate?
>> I have no idea. I have
>> I could donate if you do something crazy.
crazy.
>> What do you mean if I do something
crazy? What do you want me to do?
>> If I donate, can you do a crazy food combo?
combo?
>> Yo, my man, I don't even know if I got
food in the house. We got half a chicken
tender, some pickle juice, and a
chocolate. Oh my god, it's going in.
>> Low key, this isn't even that crazy of a
combo, though, now that I'm thinking
about it. Dude, this isn't bad at all.
All right, let's go. Let's go.
>> All right, I'm paying him.
>> Yo, I really appreciate it. You're my
first ever tip, bro. I'm about to tell
my girlfriend call her and tell her we
made it. Yo, babe, $20 tip, bro. We made
it. She needs me. She doesn't care.
>> And now it's time for the results.
First of all, that whole 10 million
views thing was wrong. Shout out to
Google AI for the misinformation,
though. But anyways, let's start off
with the weakest video, the challenge.
It got 6700 views, one subscriber, and
the most dislikes. This one really
surprised me. Like, I I I thought it
would do way better than that. But
anyway, the next type is the social
interaction with 8,800 views and four
subscribers. This one is still getting
views very slowly, so in the future it
could ramp up and get a lot more, but
again, I thought this one would do so
much better. It's a great video. Moving
on to second place, we have the clip.
It's sitting at 15,500 views and it got
us six subscribers. How? I don't I don't
know. I really don't know. I thought
this one was going to perform the worst
by far. But now it is time for the best
performer and you already know his name.
the story with 23,100
views and it got us 59 subscribers. I'm
really happy this one did the best. I
put a lot of work into it and it's also
the type I'm the most comfortable doing.
So, I'm glad the audience liked it. Now,
it's time for what you're all here for,
the money. And before I tell you how
much I made, let me just say this. I've
learned that you have to pretty much
post the same type of short over and
over to get any sort of traction and go
viral. So, me posting four different
types of shorts wasn't really helping
anything. And if you stay consistent and
post a lot of the same stuff over and
over again, you could actually make a
living off of YouTube shorts, which is
crazy. But enough talk. Hit the drum roll.
I didn't even get half of $22 back. You
