okay so today we're diving deep into
something well let's be honest we all
see every single day yeah every time you
open up your phone basically right
social media advertising it's everywhere
it is but have you ever stopped to think
about how it actually
works most people probably don't I know
I didn't at least not until I started
prepping for this um so we've got a
snippet here that sums it up
as let me see online ads targeting
potential customers via social media
pretty straightforward definition yeah
it's simple enough right we're going way
deeper than that we're going to break
down the strategies behind it uh the
tech that makes it tick and why it's
become such a huge deal for businesses
it really has changed the entire
landscape of marketing absolutely you
know it used to be all about just
getting your message out to as many
people as possible Billboards TV
commercials that kind of thing right
like a shotgun approach exactly but
social media advertising this is like a
laser beam it's all about finding exact
target audience and speaking directly to
them so instead of just hoping that your
message will resonate with someone
somewhere you can actually make sure it
lands right in front of the people who
are most likely to be interested in what
you're offering exactly and that's what
makes it so effective think about it
like for example we were talking about
Booth juice earlier using Instagram ads
to promote those um those seasonal
smoothie flavors to a younger
demographic oh yeah that's a perfect
example just scrolling through your feet
on a hot day maybe thinking about
grabbing a cold drink and Bam suddenly a
Mango Tango smoothie is staring you
right in the face tempting you it's no
coincidence that's pinpoint targeting in
action it's kind of creepy how well it
works sometimes well it all comes down
to data these platforms are collecting
mountains of information about us every
time we log in yeah this is the part
that always kind of freaks me out like
how much do they actually know about us
a lot more than you probably realize
it's not just basic demographics like
age gender location they're tracking
what you like what you share what pages
you follow they even know how long you
watch a particular video so it's like
they're building this whole profile of
who we are and what we're interested in
exactly and then they use that
information to create incredibly
detailed audience segments advertisers
can then Target their campaigns based on
these segments ensuring their messages
seen by the people most likely to be
receptive to it so it's not just that
they know you like smoothies it's that
they know you like tropical fruit
smoothies you live in a warm climate and
you often buy things online precisely
and that level of detail is what makes
social media advertising so powerful
it's not just about reaching people it's
about reaching the right people at the
right time with the right message makes
you wonder where it's all headed though
right I mean if it's already this
sophisticated what's next what does the
future of social media advertising even
look like well we're already seeing a
shift towards more immersive and
interactive experiences oh yeah like
what virtual and augmented reality are
starting to play a bigger role imagine
trying on clothes virtually through an
ad on your phone or taking a virtual
tour of a hotel before you book a room
wow so it's not just going to be about
seeing an ad anymore it's going to be
about actually experiencing the product
or service exactly the lines between the
digital world and the real world are
blurring it's pretty exciting but it
also raises some interesting questions
about how these advancements will shape
our online experiences and even our
purchasing decisions and how we view
reality itself maybe potentially yeah
it's something to think about next time
