0:08 So, we're Tom and Kelly. Um, and we are
0:12 in our Glass House Mountains new build.
0:14 The idea of this space was that we have
0:17 two children, and so we wanted it to be
0:19 big enough for our family. We're having
0:21 more children in the future, so it
0:23 needed to be something that could grow
0:26 with our family, but we really wanted to
0:30 keep a classic Queenslander cottage
0:33 cozy, homely feel to the space. We
0:36 didn't want it to feel large and expanse
0:40 and like nobody lived there. So,
0:42 when we first purchased the land, we
0:44 have this phenomenal view at the back of
0:46 the rainforest. That was really
0:49 important to us that from the moment you
0:51 walk through the front door, you have
0:54 that view and it's a focus point um
1:02 When we first decided to build, we had a
1:06 pretty clear idea of the type of home
1:09 that we were looking for and we knew we
1:12 wanted um oh some very specific parts of
1:14 design. So, we didn't want a cookie
1:17 cutter company that I guess has specific
1:20 ways or designs that they use. We wanted
1:22 something completely unique to us. Um,
1:25 and it was our first time either of us
1:29 had owned a home or built. So, we wanted
1:32 someone that we really trusted and that
1:35 was going to, I guess, let us have input
1:37 in every step of the way cuz we had a
1:39 pretty clear vision that we were looking
1:42 to build.
1:45 After my first phone call with Jacob, I
1:48 felt like there was immediate chemistry.
1:50 He was explaining to me the code of
1:54 construct processes. Um, and so straight
1:57 off the bat, I felt like there was a
2:00 trust there. He, yeah, filled us with
2:01 confidence about being able to bring our
2:05 vision to life. Um, and so we pretty
2:07 quickly decided at Koda Construct were
2:14 Yeah. Well, Chris and Jacob were like
2:15 really easy to communicate throughout
2:18 the build. We made a couple of changes
2:20 uh on the fly during the build process,
2:22 which was super easy. They were easy to
2:25 over here like ready to hear us um help
2:27 us out to make those changes, see what
2:29 would work best for us. Um yeah, which
2:32 made the build process really simple and
2:39 this um our large living area was always
2:41 going to be the heart of the home. This
2:44 is where we had always envisioned us,
2:47 the kids, dinners, movies, it was all
2:48 going to be happening in this one space.
2:51 So, um, us having the larger ceiling
2:55 space has really meant that this room
2:58 feels, um, large enough that we're not
3:01 cramped in here, but without feeling,
3:02 but we're still keeping that cozy
3:04 cottage feel that we wanted. So, we're
3:07 really happy with how this room turned out.
3:13 As soon as we found this block, we are
3:17 surrounded by large rainforest and we
3:19 wanted to make sure that that was really
3:21 captured throughout the every part of
3:23 the home. And so right from as soon as
3:25 you walk through the door, people can
3:27 see the rainforest out the back, we have
3:30 our large sliding window at the back. So
3:33 it really flows straight out there. and
3:35 in all the bedrooms, really large
3:39 windows in there to increase natural
3:42 light, but to also continue to highlight
3:44 this beautiful space that we're
3:45 surrounded by. We didn't want to lose
3:50 So, Chris and Jacob and the whole team
3:52 at Koda Construct, I'd say, were super
3:55 easy to work with from the get- go. Um,
3:57 you know, helping us design a custom home
3:59 home
4:01 at first was a bit daunting, but it kind
4:03 of it was fun. was enjoyable and I feel
4:05 like we got exactly what we were looking for.
4:06 for.
4:08 I had a lot of questions throughout the
4:12 process um just because I this is not my
4:15 world. Um and I really felt like with
4:18 Chris and Jacob that there was no silly
4:21 questions and they really I guess
4:22 educated us along the way about why
4:24 something would work or why something
4:26 won't work. And the relationship that
4:28 you build in this short period of time
4:30 while you're building their home um well
4:32 it's really nice. It's nice to have
4:33 people that you're working with that you
4:37 really trust and you connect with.
4:39 So during the build process, we live
4:41 just up the road here and I would drop
4:43 in most days and um just have a chat
4:46 with the team. Um Chris and Jacob were
4:47 great keeping me in the loop and and up
4:50 to speed with what was going on. Um give
4:51 me a walk through around the house.
4:53 Yeah, it was good to kind of see it all
4:55 come together. And they also did it in
4:56 record time. They built the whole home
5:04 Well, this is our first ever build and
5:06 it is potentially going to be the only
5:08 build that we ever do because we have
5:10 designed this with the idea of staying
5:14 in it forever. So, I think we are so
5:16 grateful to Koda Construct because I'm
5:20 not sure that we would have had this
5:22 product had it done to such a high
5:26 quality and also being able to find a
5:28 way to bring our vision to life within
5:30 our budget if it weren't for Koda
5:32 Construct. So, I think we'll always be
5:33 grateful to them that they've been able
5:35 to deliver a home for not only us, but
5:38 our kids that we're now going to
