all of First John all five chapters is
written to Believers so that sets in
context you've got to keep that in mind
first John 2 1 my little children these
things right eye unto you that ye do what
what
sin not now well no carefully who's it
written to If any man sin would have an
advocate with the father Jesus Christ
the righteous see that
see that but the Bible says plainly he
that is born of God cannot sin the
reason it cannot sin is because his seed
remaineth in him now it's remarkable
that John uses the term seed
you know there's a seed of the woman and
the seed of the serpent remember that in
John 8 44 he said to these to these Jews
of his day ye are of your father the
devil Bob says that my life is hid with
Christ in God think about that for a
minute now my life is hid in God now
think about it the Bible said he that is
born of God cannot sin for his seed
remaineth in him well it says in first
John 1 if you say you have not sinned
you call God a liar yes exactly right
which tells me that John's talking about
two Natures he's talking about two parts
to make up one man this is what Paul's
talking about in Romans 7 when he says
with a mind I serve the law of God In
the Flesh the law of sin the unsaved man
not so all he is is flesh that's all
when he sins he sins and he's dead to
begin with so that's as far as it goes
but if you're born again tonight your
spirit which is in Christ in God think
about this for a minute now could
something that is hid in God's sin
think that through think it through
and no it can't and I am in God my life
is hid with Christ in God not going to
be in God in God at this very moment
and of course a spirit being born of God
so the scripture says you cannot sin
first John chapter number three and
verse number nine if you've been born of
God see what it says but that which is
born of God cannot sin in other words
that spirit that is born of the Holy
Ghost that is born of God that is hidden
in God it's impossible for it to sin if
we say that we have not sinned we make
him a liar and his word is not in us
don't you think the Apostle John had a
reason for putting that in first of
course he did he builds everything else
upon this on this doctrine that you're
not perfect but he begins to open up you
as the gospel as first John opens up it
begins to show you your two Natures he
says that which is born of God cannot
sin well take what he just said right here
here
verse 10 if we say we have not sinned we
make him a liar
is that not a contradiction
of course it's not a contradiction
what it takes is an understanding of who
you are
the Apostle John when he wrote this
ain't no fool
is he going to write something like this
and turn right around and contradict himself
himself
if we say we have not sinned we make him
a liar yet the Bible said he that is
born of God
doth not cannot sin
so horse conflict conflicts in the two natures
natures
with a mind I serve the law of Christ
and with the body of the Flesh and that
sarcas is flesh and it has not only to
do with the physical body but it has to
do with that spiritual Rebellion against
God the unsaved so there's a conflict
going on and it'll always be the flesh
lets us against the spirit and the
spirit against the flesh these are
contrary one to another here's something
else about first John there's not one
place in first John talking about
somebody losing their salvation and they
can lose their life
send them to death but not their salvation
salvation
why because you've literally been born
of God
he has sealed you with the Holy Spirit
of promise
he has sealed you in Christ and that
seal cannot be broken he has sealed you
to Mark you and then he has sealed you
as an Earnest to The Inheritance
that Holy Spirit that's in you tonight
well David said prayed Lord take not
thine Holy Spirit from me they'll run to
an Old Testament Passage
where David said don't take the Holy
Spirit from me
but David was not sealed by the Holy
Ghost and David was not born of the
spirit of God
because the New Covenant had not been
ratified it was not made legal until
Christ died on the cross
Hebrews chapter number nine see that the
Bible does not contradict itself
notice what he said in Colossians 2
verse 10 though
this is important you are complete in
him which is the head of all
principality in whom also you are
circumcised with a circumcision made
without hands
so no man did this for you in putting
off the body of the sins of the flesh by
the circumcision of Christ what's he
talking about what do you mean
circumcision of Christ buried with him
in baptism Grant also you are risen with
him through the faith of the operation
of God who hath raised him from the dead
and you being dead in your sins and the
uncircumcision of your flesh hath he
quickened together with him having
forgiven you all trespasses the Apostle
Paul tells you about a spiritual
operation that took place at the moment
you were born again your body and soul
and spirit were separated
before you were born again your body was
stuck to your soul and your spirit was dead
dead
but a born-again spirit cannot have a
connection to this unsaved body
they are enemies of each other there is
an animosity between the two they are
never in connection they are mortal
enemies the spirit of God that dwells
within me that gives me life has
regenerated my dead spirit and now my
spirit has been born of the Holy Spirit
born of God
since that happened and it did happen
when you were saved
then God did a great favor for me he cut
me free from this body
I am no longer my body
the New Testament makes a subtle
difference time and time and time again
between the body of the believer and the believer
believer
the Old Testament is not like that and
the reason the Old Testament is not like
that is because the believer in the Old
Testament though A True Believer and
though saved is not born again
therefore the body and the Soul are
spoken of synonymously
a clear distinction is not made between
the two
think about it for a moment if there is
a difference if the if the Old Testament
Saint is like the New Testament Saint
where the spirit is cut free from the
body then what is the point of
Colossians 2.
when he says that he did this when you
were born again that's the point that's
why if this was a common knowledge
there's no sense here this is why to
Nicodemus Nicodemus you must be born
again you must be born from above you
must be born of God Nicodemus you need
to be saved amen but the Old Testament
Saint was saved but he wasn't born again
the new birth was wrought at the cross
at Calvary when the New Testament the
new blood Covenant was ratified and
playing the words it was made legal and
brought into effect
not until the Lord Jesus Christ died at
the cross was the blood Covenant brought
into effect
there was no blood shed it was not until
he shed his blood at the cross that the
blood Covenant was ratified made legal
brought binding between God and man in
order for that blood Covenant to have
its effect upon you this must take place
so when the blood covers your sins and
washes your sins away God Almighty
performs an operation in you that is a
one-time operation that never needs to
be repeated when he circumcises you he
cuts the flesh away from the spirit and
the Soul becomes an intermediary the
soul can touch the Flesh and the Soul
can touch the spirit you become a tried
part being there is no clear distinction
in the Old Testament made about Soul and
Spirit this is why you they're spoken of
synonymously but the New Testament makes
a very clear distinction between Body
Soul and Spirit and the the reason it
does is because that Spirit has now been
born of God will never be unborn of God
if you've been born again you're born
