This episode introduces a new series where the speaker, with the help of his daughter, aims to share life experiences, including martial arts, filmmaking, philosophy, and mind training, centered around the concept of "So Be It" as a philosophy for accepting uniqueness and navigating life's uncertainties.

Hi, I'm Jenny.
That's first episode. I want to share my
life experiences
include woou making action movie
philosophy and how to train the mind.
But my English is not good enough. So, I
bring my partner, my daughter,
uh, [sighs and gasps] Jada.
>> Hi, nice to meet everyone. I hope some
of our conversations here can be helpful
to you all or at least a little interesting.
interesting.
>> So, I just start
this first episode to discuss what I
want to share with everybody. Last year
I started you know talking uh why I come
back because I want to share
my life to everybody and I think because
past 3 years maybe longer there have a
common like a lot of people got a
trouble cast stucked in the city stuck
in the home you know a lot of people
have a certain thing to rethinking about
life. Uh so my field teacher tell me you
know you should uh share
something a lot of people doesn't know
because see your guys for sure know me
learning martial arts and make a movie
do some charity but I spend more than 25
now it's 27 years to study uh how to
control the mind how to is done. The
physical and mind they're work together
how to do that work. [music] I see a lot
of on YouTube, you know, in a lot of
different channels, a lot of people know
how to do exercises, training the body,
different age, different style, running
exercises, dancing, they have many way,
many way. But the other side my
past 10 years a lot of people think
about how to training the mind. I think
the very important there are a lot of
different kind of people talk about the
mind. So, I try my best to use English
to talk to you, but I very limit
English. Here's my daughter, Jada. She
can tell me.
>> Hi, I'm Jada. Um, I'm the youngest
daughter of four. I've listened to my
dad talk about a lot of these topics
over the last 4 years. Um, and a lot of
it has really helped me. I think he's
one of my teachers as well because I've
had moments where my mind personally has
been incredibly out of control. Um,
incredibly difficult to handle. Um, so
it's something that I've been working on
as well and I'm really happy to um, hear
my dad share with you guys as well. So,
I'm here as kind of like a support with
English and um as someone who's heard a
lot of my dad's stories and understands
kind of what he wants to convey
[clears throat] um to you all. So,
speaking of this channel and this
series, what does so mean to you?
>> So be it.
[clears throat] In China, when I start
like Tik Tok this kind of platform in
China, they say you cannot use your name
jelly. What you know my Chinese name
[music] think about it the whole night
meditate then come up the idea say front
back left right center so easy in
Chinese words >> yeah
>> yeah
people ask what's that mean
>> I asked what does that mean
>> a lot of people ask then I describe many
times [music] in Chinese I Say
there have around 8 billion people
around the world.
So everybody unique whatever you're old
you're young you know whatever which
part in the world so unique because your
eye is different only >> you
>> you
than your single pants is the only one
you have the other people doesn't have
that's very unique then I think if
you're the center
then front back left right
>> your [music] perspective is unique
What's in front of me is different from
what's in front of him. As we sit here,
>> he's to my left. You're to my left. No
one's to your left.
>> You think about whatever your goals,
you're so unique.
That's why I think
it's very close to my my philosophy or
what I learned. Every human being we
need a respect. You have a truly unique
heart. were mine very unique
totally different with all everybody.
You have the energy, you have the
knowledge, you have the wisdom, you
[music] have everything
just like a universe, but you don't know
too well. Just [music] like me, I don't
know. I have I don't know where where
you know
>> what I think he means by that is that
you're we're all so special. Yes. and
are unable to kind of recognize that
because everything is so confusing but
because everyone is so unique,
everyone's jung everyone's center is so different.
different. >> Yes.
>> Yes.
>> Um we have to respect that essence
[music] in oursel.
>> Yeah. We always put you anchor
>> um don't have a sense of security. [music]
[music]
>> So that's why we need to study more. We
need more friends, more famous, more
power. We need to be strong and more
more. So we hiding the true energy, true
power [music] inside. We don't know
them. So
that's why I learned how to relax, how to
focus and then you know [music]
this name front, back, left, right,
center difficult in English
>> very long,
>> very long. Then say what's that? you
know everything you need you need to
describe again again
>> so then my daughter asked me what about
this channel you know we start what's
the name she help me thinking I thinking
you know because I don't know English
well I think about a lot of Chinese name
she said doesn't work on English [laughter]
[laughter]
because [music] different culture
uh finally I
I
think about one book uh I read before is
my teacher's father. He read a book called
called
just like a so be it. So be [music] it.
>> The English title of the book is as it
is by Toko organ which
>> yeah [music]
>> um is a book my dad really enjoyed and
he thought this name was very cool. But
another way that we were like working on
these translations what this name would
mean and I think so be it almost like
embodies my dad's own ethic and attitude
a little more cuz he likes to be a
little cool. [laughter]
He likes to be a [clears throat] little
cool, a little relaxed and um so be it
is kind of I think [music] what has
carried him through his past three years
few years. Yeah, because we heard a lot
that you know which cell phone better
than the other was comp. We always
compare each other. Then in 20 years ago
I made a movie [music]
you know fearless. I already said put a
little bit my philosophy I learned in
themsself [music] they never say this
one better I better than you better than
me. Right. The T is a material just like
you put a 10 cell phone here. Who which
one better than the other? Doesn't know.
They don't talk.
>> The phone does not judge itself. [music]
>> Yes. But people different age, different
culture, different habic. [music]
>> They choose whatever they like. They say
this the best, this the best, this the
best. Then we say just be it. You think
cool, take it. [music] You think cool,
take it. don't get each other because
different angle, different center. [laughter]
[laughter]
So everything who
just be healthy enough.
>> Yeah. So be it. [music] Let it happen.
Let it come. Let whatever may be um arise
arise
>> for my life. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> A lot of time people will ask, "Hey Jet,
what's the favorite movie?" Just
yourself. We made a lot of movie what's
the favor I can say so be it [music]
because each movie I try so hard but the
result some movie success [music]
some movie doesn't
the worst movie maybe in the other
countries [music] is quite good so
that's make me think 30 years ago
make a movie [music] during the making
you prepare try our best. Try your best
make a movie. Then try your best to
promote this movie. After that, let then
so be it. You never know. Because so be
it. Good also. Okay. Bad okay. [music]
So, okay. So be it. Why? Because only
three result generally talk. For
example, a lot of things people [music]
will say good, bad, so so right. Of
course, if you
talk about deeply there, fantastic,
amazing, you know, you have a lot of
[music] but this represent good that
represent bad. So, so [music] you know
if you don't train your mind, if you
don't understand little bit philosophy,
it's when people say bad, you feel very
[music] sad. People say good, you're
happy, but you you get nervous because
you want to know do another one and
better than this time. So that's why [music]
[music]
we inside always not safe, feel not safe.
safe. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> Struggling all the time. Yeah,
>> easily pushed around.
>> You think about everybody think about
you know in your this year but if you
learn how to control
your mind so [music] be it. You're lot relax
relax
try your best. So just do it.
>> So [music] to you so be it is almost
like a relaxed attitude letting things come.
come.
>> Let things come. You try your best not
let them come because you cannot control
the result. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> Right. But the the phrase itself often
carries a meaning of almost like [music]
giving up a little bit like giving up
just accepting defeat. So
>> Yeah. >> So
>> So
>> that's two different words.
>> Put it down. Don't give up. Don't give up.
up.
>> Put it down. Like let it be.
>> Yeah. Put it down doesn't mean that like
put it down. I don't do nothing. We're
waiting for something. Everybody this is
another philosophy. [music] This not
what I'm learn. I tried still hard. I
helped and try my best. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> Right now, you know, helping, sharing.
If [music] use for you, take it. If it
doesn't work,
beat me up. [laughter]
>> So, what to you? Can you explain a
little bit more is the [music]
difference between fun and fun? Leave it
or give up. >> Okay.
>> Okay. >> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Just like
>> put it down.
>> Put it down. Like
>> you try [music] your best something you
cannot control. Then just let them go.
Just so be it.
>> I do nothing. [music]
>> I don't want to work even interview. I
don't want a girl in talking. I don't
want to work because [music] doesn't
mean anything. Everybody born. I have a
very good diet in the journey doesn't
mean anything so I don't do it [clears throat]
[clears throat]
>> that is you waste the time when I little
philosopher [music] very famous called
>> okay yeah
>> he his wife died
>> Mhm. Everybody quiet.
>> He's singing.
Maybe see he's sh
he's a great guy. [music] Huh? >> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Why he do this?
>> I think today if somebody do this they
will say you're crazy. Your wife died
you sitting. He's a crazy right? >> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> But he's not crazy. He already
sees through the my totally open because
he believe [music]
the land is his bed. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> The sky is his blanket. [laughter]
>> So I said crazy how to do that but
because different [music] angle right.
>> So why did he sing?
>> Sing because he says his wife just a
physical [music] pass away. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> Dissolved. Mhm.
>> spiritual never.
>> So there's nothing more.
>> Yeah. Yeah. That's his philosophy. [music]
[music]
But I think for normal day, normal
people just say if so be it. He's
thinking I think just [music] so be it
not finish. Just look at it.
>> We knew death was coming. We knew the
physical body would die. >> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> But there's something there that isn't
really changing or is still
>> Yeah. even our life [music] you know
everybody you know
>> so so be it.
>> Yeah so be it and I think so be it is
not do nothing is learn
>> how to [music] understand our
you can say mind how to work >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> I think
>> learn [music] how to like work with your
mind or like so you're not so carried
away by your thoughts or like wanting a
new car as you said or even grief. Mhm. >> Um
>> Um
being able to see really clearly and
[music] just being able to relax because
so be it.
>> That I learned a little bit. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> I think quite [music] interesting that
everybody have a six sense, right?
>> Eye, smell, [music]
taste, hear, touching
>> and thinking, right? >> Thinking
>> Thinking
>> is thinking a sense?
>> Sense. [music] I think in in English we
talk typically talk about a sixth sense
as like >> see
>> see
>> something you can't really tell by your
other five senses but are aware of almost
almost
>> I talk about Zen right you have six
sense [music] >> okay
>> okay
>> this what called just you have [music] this
this
>> the other side
>> Mhm. [music]
Oh, being perceived.
>> Be heard,
>> being heard,
>> being touched,
>> being touched,
>> be tasted,
>> being [music] tasted,
>> and be being think,
>> being thought about. Okay.
>> If this [music] 12 >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> you can keep this, keep this. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> That is a perfect. Just be. So be it. [music]
[music] >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> The problem is the other six.
>> What are the other [music] six?
>> The other six. Yeah,
>> I see it.
Simple. I see it. So >> [music]
>> [music]
>> adjective. [music]
>> Adjective. All the adjective. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> People fighting >> judgment.
>> judgment.
>> Judgment. All is this. [music]
>> I see.
>> Because you see that's it now. I see.
Oh, so beautiful.
>> Because I [music] has so beautiful. Then
I want to get it. I want to close the
beautiful things then make a lot of
things working everybody the problem is
>> so the problems come
>> yeah [music] now I say I say wa this is
beautiful you say wa that ugly then we
start fight for fight not this [music]
not this because truth is two things
[laughter] that the problem is this
[music] zan say that it's called 18 yeah
666 [music]
if you have 66 6 18
>> mhm Now you got a bigger problem in the
life because everybody will find in this.
this.
>> So then if you learn how to work what is
so be it. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> I see this then is so ugly then [music]
just so be it because I know this not
the truth
>> just your age just your opinion [music] >> right
>> right
>> different age see this. Wow, not bad.
The other says, "Wow, so beautiful." You
know, doesn't mean anything. So be it.
So beautiful. Thank you. So So thank
you. So very bad. So ugly. [music]
Thank you. >> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Because it's not the truth.
>> Okay. [music] >> Just
>> Just
>> adjectives describing it.
>> Describing differently. >> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Why we need to fight differently? So, so
be it is kind of identifying that
[music] this final six is not true. >> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> So is seeing things as it is.
>> Yes. [music] So we can talk more and
more how to learn.
They are too quickly.
This six
so fast. [music]
>> So fast we don't even realize that three
things have happened.
>> No, because they're fast. Sometime [music]
[music]
I think
the bias AI still slower [music] than this.
this.
Slower than mine.
>> The subject object judgment. Okay.
>> Still slower [music] than this because
everything you see it when you see the
result the set three things are already coming.
coming.
>> So it's even as simple as like I look at
that flower and I go red.
>> Yes. [music]
>> My first thought is red. The red already
>> is already the judgment. >> Judgment.
>> Judgment.
>> Yeah. [music]
>> Then after red you say beautiful. Wow.
So good today fresh. Then we just work
for that every day. Every day. Every
day. You
the truth is there. Then you work far
away. That's why I'm tired. That's why I [music]
[music]
just like that. This is my daughter. I
have a four daughter. She's uh one of my teacher
teacher
>> because negative. [music]
No because my English is sometime not
good not good enough to describe a lot
of things I don't have words [music] you
know I only have some camera shining no
power you know for movie set learning
the street English
learn how to describe a philosophy well
you know [music]
deeply you know life it's difficult but
it's great [music]
>> which goes back to your original point
of like everyone is so unique and so
[music] different and so special so
we're never going to be in the exact
same channel in the exact same conversation.
conversation.
>> Of course.
>> So there is going to always be the black
and white the differences [music] in
perception which causes these arguments.
>> Even the age. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Even the age. >> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Everybody unique. [music] I always say
don't look down the young people because
when I grew up a lot of I heard a lot of
you know 80s people is the worst
>> worst generation. worst generation. But
then later on it's 90s is worse. [music]
>> Then now they say, "Oh, they're better than
than
>> 2000." 2000 people never,
>> you know, call you and never answer you.
They're finished. So always say [music]
that. But when you're born
is physical part. I in China I always
>> hardware and software
>> like a cell phone have a hard
>> hardware and software
>> software yeah they bring 2000 maybe
>> 2000's [music] hardware
>> may 2010
>> the hard work but [music] nobody know
their software how older how smart really
really
I [music] met
>> Mhm. send great grandmaster.
>> I see them [music] 20 years old. I'm a 40.
40.
>> But they're inside the power
>> look like a thousand years old [music] man.
man. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> They're full of compassion. They are
really brave. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> The mind is so bright. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> But they're 20. That make me think, wow.
I watched a movie called
Mer Mang
>> Mozart. [music]
>> Mutler. I saw that movie
>> long time ago. >> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> He's a five years old.
He can play piano like this way and this
way and this way. How come five years old?
old?
>> Yeah. So don't think about only this
[music] because the software
>> which is something we can't really see
>> is maybe 100 years few hundred years
already professor professor the
professor the piano teacher >> mh
>> mh
>> so nobody know
>> so that's why I'm a look everybody
unique [music]
I see everything we need to respect
>> even today you look at the world you a
lot of young people maybe 13 years old,
15 years [music] old, they all graduated
in the university.
>> Oh, like the young. Yeah. >> Just
>> Just
there. Look at the numbers. They they
can blah blah blah blah blah give the
answer then you put a computer you put
you need to finish they answer already
there. So [music] what's there inside
doesn't mean you're 60
>> from the factory come out the days this
better than the other
>> your age doesn't really quant quantify
your talent your knowledge your wisdom
[music] your compassion
>> my family is very poor for the beginning
I struggling struggling fighting
fighting fighting fighting then I see a
lot of people still doing the same thing
[music] fighting fighting fighting right
yeah I'm learning martial arts then I
make the movie that I do [music]
charity. I try to promote the you know culture
culture
>> you know platform build up the you know
helping the young people [music] age
young people the age they're together
can understand each other because all
the human be living in the earth
>> you're the human we're home is earth
[music] we need helping each other
that's I always believe
>> then four is [music]
share what I learned how to train the
mind the philosophy how
be controlled the
[music] mind become beyond the freedom.
>> Uh because when we talk about the
freedom, I always say [music] you must
think you're not freedom. That's why you
need a freedom.
>> We always [music] think we're not free.
>> That's why you want
>> you want to be more free. >> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Our parents are preventing us or our
boss is preventing us or the police.
>> We can't many times. So
just like [music] some you know when the
human cross next generation the you know
just like you see people
do something. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> Everybody [music] happy. Just say
cause people happy.
>> Yeah. [music]
>> Not only the money. >> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Like a lot of friend
>> money isn't the only thing that brings happiness.
happiness.
>> It's not the only thing. That's why I
want to say not the only thing.
>> Yeah. Uh because a lot of friend you
know after few years [music]
>> come back together
simple food
>> like it's not the most expensive food
that brings you [music] happiness.
Sometimes it's like what you ate growing up
up
>> because a lot of people will say yeah
rich you know rich people happy we're
not happy. No no no if we understand more
more
>> you see you have happy lot of things
cause you happy it's not money. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> The emotion [music] is mental. is the software.
software. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> Simple thing can make happy.
>> So to bring it back to so be it. How
does how why is so be it kind of
necessary [music] to find happiness to
be happy?
>> I always think what cause our not
>> unhappiness suffering >> happy.
>> happy.
>> Yeah. Unhappiness.
>> Yeah. [music] If we know what cause
people not happy
then we'll know how to make your happy.
>> Okay. So like the root of the problem.
>> Now if you find that things also very important.
important. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> So what cause our unhappy maybe wrong
view wrong thinking wrong information
not good enough information maybe not
good enough
>> maybe have a many [music] many way to
go. That's why I think 2500 years old
philosopher. >> Huh?
>> Huh?
>> Okay. [music]
>> Okay. When Yeah. Just we could say just Buddha.
Buddha.
He gave [music] the teaching is a called
a 80,400.
>> It's it's said that he taught >> 80
>> 80
>> 84,000 [music] rays.
rays. >> Yes.
>> Yes.
He gave 84,000 teachings.
>> Why they give that
much? [music] It's maybe they just
because different [music] culture,
different age,
>> different life, different experiences.
[music] They need a different need.
>> They need different things.
>> Different things to solve the problem.
>> They don't have one things can solve all
the problem. It's quite [music]
difficult. But you step by step, step by
step, then you finally will know 84,000
>> is the one way just like you go to the
mountain. Well, you go to the one place.
>> There's many many way to go there.
>> Maybe you can take airplane, you can go
walking, you can drive the car,
>> subway, whatever.
>> Same rule go there. So [music] different
way. Yeah. I think just like
go back to original talk meditation. [music]
[music] >> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> I spend many years meditation. >> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Meditation not a goal. Meditation only
is the [music] two. >> Mhm.
>> Mhm.
>> Then I learned
maybe more than 10 style.
>> 10 kinds of meditation [music] or 10
other tools.
>> 10 more than 10 tools. Just like I learn
martial arts more than 18 [music]
>> styles weapons.
>> Oh yeah. So I don't have to do the same
for example [music] meditation that you
do or I don't have to use the same tools
as you do.
>> Of course. Of course not because
different age different style.
>> So to end off this first uh this first
[music] episode I think we want to
conclude everything by asking each other
um what's one thing you said so be it
too recently? [music]
>> So be it. Yeah. I try to use
English to explain what I my experiences
but in China maybe I have a
thousand [music]
words to describe
English maybe I only have a 20 words to
[music] explain my daughter tried to
teach me speak
[music] correct English I'm so suffering
Ah then sometime
we fight then I walk away then you so be
it. I had to turn back. So okay so be it.
it.
>> I would say light argument.
>> Light. Yeah
>> light argument.
>> Why light? Because
we're both is teacher and students
together you know. Uh yeah. So be it. I
try my best. I hope you I have you. So,
so be it. That's why I need
she's standing here sitting here with
me. I feel more comfortable because I
don't have enough words. I said, "Please
tell me how to speak this, how to say that."
that." >> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> One thing I said, "So be it too
recently, is actually I was trying to
put this whole set together." [laughter]
And um we we just like lacked chairs and
tables. So, actually the two of us and
two of my sisters and my brother-in-law
went to IKEA together and we found these
chairs and this whole set. We picked out
everything to match. Um, and it ended up
like we ended up going to the cashier
and they said the armchairs were
discontinued. Um, and to check online
and to check in the other stores. So, I
checked in the other stores. I checked
online and they were gone [music]
everywhere. There was none at all. And
so, it was kind of demoralizing. And
there was a moment where I was like, I
felt so tired. [music] um because there
were so many other things we had to get
done to get this together. Um but then
it was kind of like so be it. We'll use
what we have. So this is all patio
furniture, [music]
but it works for what it is. And um
yeah, we hope that this introduction was
helpful for you all in um a little
glimpse into my dad's mind and that you
can come back for more in-depth [music]
delves into other topics. Yes, just like
I think you know I study 30 years one
thing then I 30 minutes try to describe
very clearly it's quite difficult even
speak Mandarin or Chinese I cannot use
30 minutes to answer all the questions
but I try my best with my daughter you
know step by step [music] we continue
continue with this first episode I hope
there have second I Hope there a third 100.
100.
