it has to be deep and know deep moves
you tectonically and it's not a trivial
thing and but that's better than
happiness psychologist author podcast
host emotional volcano Jordan Peterson
is known for his deep thoughts and wild
politics but he's also known for
breaking into tears when least expected
in the middle of interviews mediaite
presents Jordan Peterson can't stop
crying number eight Peterson chokes up
while telling Morgan about what it's
like to be Jordan Peterson and what's
the best thing about you the best thing
about being me yeah it's overwhelming
really well the Deep appreciation that
people have for what I've been
doing it's stunning it's it's Soul
destroying but it's amazing is it not
Soul enhancing I mean I feel it when I
do interviews with you the reaction I
get from people just how much you mean
to them I I mean I can imagine it so
yeah well that's a bit much you know I
mean look when I go wherever I go it's
so strange because wherever I go it's
like I have friends there because I walk
down the street and people wave at me
and you know they call up my name
and it's a bit much you know it's a
strange thing to have far more than you
imagine what do you
mean well that's my life I have far more
than I could ever
possible I mean You' become somebody who
in the later stage of your life now you
did it again you got me again God yeah
it's it's very interesting I mean you
are you are an emotional person I know
that um but I think it's also
interesting to me what makes you
emotional it's you know imagine someone
gave you everything you could possibly
imagine and more well that's the
situation I'm in number number seven the
tears flow as Peterson waxes poetic on
pain Love and Truth the most fundamental
reality is
pain yes is there anything more
fundamental than pain
pain love
love
pain love and
truth that's what you got and you know
if they're more powerful than pain maybe
they're the most real things number six
Peterson gets emotional while telling
Joe Rogan about a father and son we were
walking down the street and this car
pulled up beside us and this kid hopped
out he good-looking Latino Kid 20 21
something like that he jumped over and
he said uh he's all excited he said are
you Dr Peterson I said yeah yeah and he
said I'm really really happy to meet you
um I've been watching your lectures for
like like a year and a half and uh I've
been trying to put my life together and
it's really working I'm really doing way
better I really wanted to thank you and
so it's lovely he when you're walking
down a kind of rough area and somebody
pulls up beside you and they jump out of
the car to tell you how much better
their life is that's a pretty good
morning and so but then that isn't all
that happened he ran back to his car he
said wait a minute wait a minute he went
back to his car and he got out his dad
and they came over together and his dad
was just smiling away like a real smile
you know and so was the kid and they had
their arms around each other and they
said look like we've really been working
on a relationship for the last year and
a half and it's going just great we want
to thank you and the father said
something like I'm really happy that you
got my son back to me it's like yes
that's what this bloody tour is been
like it's great you getting very
emotional about this well it's something
Joe Jesus I've seen like 150,000 people
in the last two months you know and this
is what it's well you'll have a chance
to talk to Reuben about this too this is
what it's been like it's so positive I
can't believe it number number five a
lecture is interrupted by Peterson's
lament over demoralized young people
that's no message for young people
that's no there's no excuse for that and
you think well you know we're going to
destroy the planet we have to do this we
have to demoralize the youth to be
ethical it's like yeah really that's
your theory you're going to demoralize
young people to be ethical that's your
theory it's like you should go and think
about that for like a year and I'm
because you have no idea how many people that's
killing you have no idea I see people
everywhere all over the world they're so demoralized
demoralized
especially young people especially young
people with a conscience because they've
been told since they were little that
there's nothing to them but corruption
and power it's like how the hell do you
expect them to react you know they well
I shouldn't do anything then you know
number four the power of Christ compels
him to cry so what you have in the
figure of Christ is an actual person who
actually lived plus a myth and in some
sense Christ is the union of those two
things the problem is is I probably
believe that but I don't know I don't
I'm amazed at my own belief and I don't
sometimes the objective
touch you know that's Union
synchronicity and I've seen that many
times in my own
life and so in some sense I believe it's
undeniable you know we have a narrative
sense of the world for me that's been
the world of morality that's the world
that tells us how to act it's real like
we treat it like it's real it's not the
objective world but the narrative and
the objective World touch and the
ultimate example of that in principle is
supposed to be
Christ but I don't know what to that
seems to me oddly plausible yeah but I
still don't know what to make of it it's
too partly because it's too terrifying a
reality to fully believe I don't even
know what would happen to you if you
fully believed it number three Peterson
gets biblically weepy while talking
about God's Revenge you really want to
know what I think I think it's revenge
being that's really what I
think it's Cain and C Cain and Abel it's
like oh Abel's your Abel's your guy he
God how about if I take him out in the
field and beat him to death how do you
unrewarded yeah it's
like yeah that's what it is at the
bottom of the hell of
things number two the very mention of
puesan girls summons the lump in
Peterson's throat and I have my tendency
to feel a hell of a lot more sorry for a
set of confused isolated and lonely
pubescent girls who have no one to love
them enough to help them appreciate who they
they are
are
then I do for one overprivileged and
unfortunately confused narcissistic
Hollywood star and number one don't ask
Jordan Peterson how he's doing unless
you really want to know so the question
I was going is pretty much that is what
is a better question for me to ask you
if I'm checking in on you because we ask
that question with good intentions are
you happy what's a better question for
me to ask Jordan Peterson how are you
doing how are you doing how are you doing
that's you know when you listen to a
profound piece of music
music
one that sort of spans the whole
emotional experience there's this
admission of a deep suffering at the
same time as you get the beautiful
Transcendence of the
music and that's meaning you know that's
awful in the most fundamental sense but
you need an antidote to suffering and it
has to be deep and know deep moves you
tectonically and it's not a trivial
thing and but that's better than
happiness and maybe if you're lucky
while you're pursuing that and while
you're immersed in it you get to be
happy and and you should fall on your
knees and be grateful for that when it
happens you know it's a gift it really
is a gift and it comes upon you
unexpectedly your happiness you know
but you aim to climb up hill to the
highest peak you can possibly envision
and that's that's better than happiness
is there such a thing as frequent crier
Miles because Peterson has racked them
up for more videos like this one
