0:01 let's talk about how to practice
0:04 self-care without spending money I think
0:06 self-care has been so convoluted and
0:08 confused with the justification of
0:10 spoiling yourself when we think about
0:12 self-care it often evokes images of like
0:14 face masks or taking yourself out to
0:17 dinner it's like around this activity
0:20 which means money leaving your wallet I
0:22 know so many people who are like instead
0:25 of making an emergency fund account I
0:27 bought a popcorn machine but let's be
0:30 real like most of us need to see
0:32 self-care as taking responsibility for
0:34 our lives like are you paying your bills
0:36 on time are you saving money are you
0:39 using that popcorn machine even once
0:41 start seeing self-care as the intuitive
0:44 regulation of your nervous system as the
0:46 essential planning that you put into
0:48 making your life go smoothly as getting
0:50 all your together putting it in a
0:52 bag and leaving now self-care in my
0:54 mid-30s it looks different for me now
0:56 like it's more about delegation carving
0:58 out time for rest and controlling my
1:00 impulse to turn my house into a cat
1:02 Sanctuary but when I was in my 20s I was
1:04 broke I was like $30,000 in debt
1:05 couldn't pay my rent I was buying
1:08 groceries at the 99 cent store so free
1:10 forms of self-care when I was in that
1:13 space looked like walking for 30 to 45
1:15 minutes super regulating super great if
1:17 you want to go running sure I go for a
1:19 run once a year just to make sure that
1:20 if I was being chased I I could probably
1:22 get away but for the most part I stick
1:24 to walking you can do yoga or stretching
1:27 or workout classes for free on YouTube
1:29 great for endorphins great for your
1:31 physical health breathing exercises my
1:34 favorite is whm Hof like I have done so
1:37 many drugs you guys and I no longer do
1:40 any drugs so caffeine exercise and
1:42 breath work are the only highs I have
1:45 left and breath work's free reading if
1:46 you don't want to do mindfulness if you
1:48 need an escape from your mind reading is
1:50 the easiest thing to do if you can't
1:51 afford books uh you can go to the
1:54 library you can even download the Libby
1:56 app which is the library ebook app in
1:57 case you are not driving or walking
2:00 distance from a physical location and
2:02 education I think for a lot of us
2:04 self-care looks like educating ourselves
2:06 when I was broke there was nothing more
2:08 that I wanted in this world than to not
2:11 be broke so I started investing in my
2:13 financial education I'd go to the
2:14 library I would read every book on
2:16 finance that I could understand at that
2:19 level and for you this may look like
2:20 educating yourself about something
2:22 you're really interested in or learning
2:24 a new skill there's endless free
2:26 educational resources out there I think
2:28 a really excellent one was created by
2:29 the Green Brothers It's called crash
2:31 course it's a free YouTube channel with
2:33 a variety of topics that you can explore
2:35 journaling babe you know I had to throw
2:38 in journaling taking time to
2:40 self-reflect who are you who do you want
2:41 to be what do you want to know more
2:43 about what are your goals for this month
2:45 this year you know whether that's
2:46 finding employment or having Kinder
2:48 selft talk or burning this journal
2:52 entirely I get it now self-care for me
2:53 it's always involved planning and
2:55 introspection it's taking the time to
2:57 think about my life where it is and
2:59 where I want to be and the tangible
3:01 steps I can take to make that Vision
3:03 come true and finally like if you need
3:05 to gamify all of this right like if
3:07 you're like Anna I want to do all this
3:09 but a regular old to-do list it just
3:12 doesn't do it for me try self-care
3:15 Bingo it works you can either make it
3:17 yourself or you can download a form for
3:19 free on the internet and print it out I
3:21 have started doing this with my goals
3:22 and I don't know guys but putting
3:24 everything in like a bingo card has
3:27 completely changed the game for me pun
