0:09 purpose is only your creator can tell
0:11 you what your purpose is and your
0:13 purpose your calling in life actually
0:15 begins in the nature of God now the
0:18 Bible tells us that God is love we' have
0:21 talked about this so many times that God
0:24 doesn't have love God God doesn't just
0:26 show love God is love love love is the
0:31 nature the character the essence of God
0:35 there would be no love in the universe
0:38 if it weren't for the fact that God is
0:41 love the only reason you're able to love
0:44 the only reason you're able to give it
0:46 and receive love is because God who is a
0:49 god of love Made You In His Image ants
0:52 can't love snails can't love cows can't
0:57 love but human beings love because we're
1:00 made in the image of God now the Bible
1:03 says that everything in the universe was
1:07 created so God could love it God has
1:10 never made anything he doesn't love he
1:12 loves every Rock every tree every plant
1:15 every animal every human being God has
1:18 never made anything he doesn't love so
1:19 if you're alive it means God loves you
1:24 and you were created as an object of
1:27 God's love we talked about this in 40
1:29 days of purpose but this time in this
1:33 campaign we're going to go much deeper
1:35 in understanding the love of God that
1:38 the reason why God made you and he made
1:41 you to love you is so that you could
1:43 experience that love and he could
1:45 express that love the Bible says this in
1:48 Ephesians chapter 1 there on your
1:51 outline long
1:53 ago even before he made the
1:56 world God loved us and chose us whoa let
2:00 me just stop right there before God even
2:03 created the universe he had already
2:04 chosen you and loved you he made the
2:07 universe so he could make earth so he
2:09 could make the human race so he could
2:11 make you so he could love you if God
2:14 hadn't wanted to love you all the other
2:16 stuff wouldn't have happened it says
2:18 before he made the world God loved us
2:23 and chose us in Christ to be holy and
2:26 without fault in his eyes his unchanging
2:30 plan has always been from the very
2:33 beginning of time to adopt us into his
2:36 own family by bringing us to himself
2:40 through Jesus Christ and this gave him
2:43 this plan to to have a family God wanted
2:45 a family and he wanted you to be a part
2:47 of it and the reason the universe exists
2:50 is because God wanted a family it was
2:52 all made so we could be made so we could
2:55 be loved and he says and this plan gave
2:58 him read it with me

3:06 are planned for God's pleasure and the
3:09 reason you're alive is that God Made You
3:12 to love you now that's all background we
3:16 all know that in this series when we
3:19 look at the five callings of God and the
3:22 word calling is used far more than
3:23 purpose in the Bible when we look at
3:26 God's calling on your life we're talking
3:28 about God's assignment God's purpose for
3:31 your life God's reasons for creating you
3:34 I want you to write this down the first
3:37 purpose of my life is to be loved by God
3:42 the first purpose of my life the first
3:44 reason you were
3:46 created is to be loved by God God Made
3:49 You To Love You Now let that sink in a
3:52 little bit the first purpose of your
3:55 life is not to serve God the first
3:58 purpose of your life is not to trust God
4:00 the first purpose of your life is not to
4:02 obey God the first purpose of your life
4:05 is not even to love God no no the first
4:09 purpose of your life is to let God love
4:13 you God didn't create you first in first
4:16 place to do something he created you in
4:19 the first place to receive something now
4:22 if you understand this revolutionary
4:25 truth and most of you have never really
4:26 got this it's going to transform your
4:29 life
4:30 that my number one purpose in life is
4:32 not to do
4:33 something for God it's to receive
4:37 something from God to get his love
4:40 because I was made to be a receptacle a
4:43 receiver a benefactor of God's love let
4:48 that sink in let me say it again because
4:51 I don't want you to get this your first
4:53 Duty in life is not to do something it's
4:57 not to learn it's not to listen it's not
5:00 to pray it's not to give it's not to
5:02 sacrifice it's not to serve it's not all
5:05 those are all good things but they're
5:07 not the first thing God created you to
5:09 do he created you to accept to receive
5:13 his love to just let God love you that's
5:17 the first purpose of life to be loved by
5:20 God now this is taught all through the
5:22 scripture in the book of Jude and I
5:25 always like to mention these these
5:27 little books that nobody ever reads the
5:29 book of Jude is a very short book it's
5:31 only one chapter 25 verses it's the
5:34 second to the last book in the Bible
5:36 right before Revelation and I always
5:38 like to mention these because when you
5:39 get to heaven I don't want my people to
5:40 be embarrassed in
5:42 heaven and and when Jude comes up to you
5:45 and says hey how'd you like my book I
5:47 don't want you go oh Mr Jude I didn't
5:49 even know you were in the
5:51 Bible no when he walks over go Hey
5:57 Jude loved your book
6:00 love that book really good in fact one
6:02 of my favorites cuz it was only 25
6:05 verses I could you could memorize the
6:07 book of Jude now very short book but a
6:10 lot of profound truth in it and in Jude
6:13 chapter 1 verse one it says
6:16 this this letter is from Jude a servant
6:21 of Jesus Christ and a brother of James
6:24 now I want to stop here that friends is
6:27 one of the most humble statements ever
6:30 written you say why he says I'm a
6:33 servant of Jesus Christ and I'm a
6:35 brother of James he forgets to mention
6:37 one thing he's the half brother of
6:41 Jesus said wait minute Jesus had
6:43 Brothers yes Jesus had brothers and
6:46 sisters they're talked about in the
6:48 Bible when Mary gave birth to Jesus she
6:53 was a virgin that was a miraculous birth
6:55 because God was the father of Jesus
6:57 Christ but the Bible tells us that after
7:00 Jesus was born Mary and Joseph had many
7:03 other children they're mentioned in the
7:05 bible one of them is named James one of
7:07 them named Jude he had Jesus had half
7:10 sisters and they often came to see him
7:13 speak heard him do watched him do
7:16 Miracles the interesting thing about
7:18 Jesus brothers and sisters none of them
7:20 became followers of
7:22 Jesus until after Jesus died on the
7:25 cross and then rose again from the dead
7:27 and when they saw him resurrected from
7:29 the dead dead is like he's
7:31 back and that made a Believer even his
7:34 brothers and sisters they go he was who
7:37 he claimed to be they watched him die
7:39 and they watched him come back to life
7:41 and it was only after that happened they
7:43 became followers of Jesus Christ and J
7:47 Jude and James be actually became
7:49 leaders I mean now can you imagine how
7:52 difficult will difficult it would be
7:53 growing up with Jesus as your
7:56 brother I mean every time you're
7:59 fighting in over or getting upset over
8:01 something and you go to Mom Mary and you
8:04 say now Mom and he did it and and she
8:07 said now Jude your brother is
8:13 Jesus who's really at fault
8:16 here I mean like how difficult would it
8:19 be to have a perfect brother now how
8:22 many of you grew up that your parents
8:24 thought your brother was perfect yeah
8:27 but this one really was perfect
8:30 okay really was he was always right so I
8:34 think I probably would have grown up
8:35 with a little Grudge on a chip on my
8:37 shoulder and not wanting to believe he
8:40 was who he claimed he would be I I think
8:42 I'd feel that way like come on I grew up
8:44 with her I played stickball with
8:46 him but in Jude it says this this letter
8:49 is from Jude a servant of Jesus Christ
8:52 he does if anybody could have been the
8:53 ultimate name dropper it would have been
8:56 this guy okay but he says I'm just a
8:58 servant of Jesus and a brother of James
9:00 does even mention that thing and I'm
9:02 writing to all who are called to live in
9:07 the love of God the Father circle the
9:09 word called and what am I called to do
9:11 I'm called to live in the love of God
9:15 the love of God the father and in the
9:17 care of Jesus Christ now if the first
9:21 purpose of my life is to be loved by God
9:23 my first calling is this I'm called to
9:26 enjoy a relationship with God write that
9:30 one down my purpose is to let God love
9:33 me my calling is to enjoy a relationship
9:37 with God I'm called to live in the love
9:41 of God it's a relationship what I'm
9:44 saying to you this is so fundamental is
9:48 that the number one calling in your life
9:50 is not to a rooll it's not to a
9:54 responsibility it's not to a bunch of
9:56 rules it's not to regulations it's not
9:59 not to Ritual it's not to religion it's
10:02 to a
10:04 relationship now this is going to
10:06 surprise some of you Christianity is not
10:08 a
10:09 religion people try to make it a
10:11 religion they try to make it about rules
10:14 and regulations and rituals but it's not
10:16 about it Jesus said it's about a
10:19 relationship God sent Christ so you
10:21 could have a relationship not a religion
10:24 but a relationship to God because God is
10:27 love and he wants you to learn to
10:29 experience his
10:30 love now what kind of relationship does
10:33 God want you to have with him does God
10:35 want you to be his slave no does God
10:39 want you to be his servant no does God
10:43 want you to be his Soldier and fight his
10:45 battles for right and wrong in the world
10:46 no does God want you to be his Warrior
10:49 no does God want you to be his worker no
10:52 does God want you to be his employee no
10:54 does God want you to be his minions no
10:57 God wants you to be his son
11:00 or his daughter he wants you in his
11:04 family here's what the Bible says Romans
11:06 chapter
11:07 1 dear friends in Rome this is Paul
11:10 writing God loves you dearly Circle that
11:15 word dearly God loves you
11:17 dearly and he has called you there's
11:19 that word here's the calling of God he
11:21 has called you to be his very own people
11:25 so here are the three fundamental truths
11:27 of everything we're doing in this
11:28 campaign
11:29 the first purpose is to be loved by God
11:32 that's my first purpose my first calling
11:35 is to enjoy a relationship with God and
11:37 number three that
11:40 relationship that God wants me to have
11:42 is to be his son or daughter the
11:45 relationship God created you for is to
11:48 be his
11:50 son or his
11:53 daughter now that is the most amazing
11:56 truth you will ever hear in your life
11:59 that but the King of Kings the Lord of
12:01 lords the creator of the universe
12:03 doesn't want you to be a slave servant
12:05 Soldier but his
12:07 son and his daughter and his child God
12:10 wants a family to love and he wants you
12:13 in it here's what the Bible says 1 John
12:16 chapter 3 what an
12:18 incredible quality of love the father
12:23 has shown to
12:24 us that we should be named and called
12:28 and and counted the children of God and
12:32 so we are I love that in the Amplified
12:35 we're named the children of God we're
12:37 called the children of God we're counted
12:39 the children of God because we are the
12:41 children of God this is your number one
12:44 calling in life your number one purpose
12:46 in life is not to accomplish something
12:49 your number one purpose in life is not
12:51 to make something of yourself your
12:53 number one purpose in life is not to
12:55 make a lot of money to be famous to have
12:57 a lot of fun your number one purpose in
13:00 life God created you and called
13:02 you to be loved by him to experience
13:06 that love and most people have never
13:09 truly experienced the love of God oh
13:11 they've heard about it everybody here
13:13 said oh God loves you yeah yeah I know
13:15 God loves me the very fact that you're
13:16 bored by that means you don't get
13:19 it because if you got it you would be so
13:22 excited about it you've never
13:24 experienced it you've heard it in your
13:26 head but you don't have it in your heart
13:29 and a lot of people are going to miss
13:31 Heaven by 18 in CU they got it here and
13:34 they don't got it here they don't have
13:36 it here you've got to experience God's
13:39 love in your life he says we're named
13:43 and called and counted the children of
13:44 God now why in the world would God do
13:47 that in order to express his love and
13:51 God's love is extravagant and God's love
13:54 is lavish and God's love is beyond com
13:57 comprehension and as I've said so many
13:59 times he loves you on your good days and
14:01 bad days when you feel it and don't feel
14:03 it when you think you deserve it when
14:04 you don't think you deserve it you can't
14:07 make God stop loving you God will never
14:10 love you any more than he does this
14:12 second God will never love you any less
14:15 than he does this second because God's
14:18 love is not based on who you are or what
14:22 you do it's based on who he is God is
14:27 love so I'll say it again cuz I want you
14:29 to get it your number one calling in
14:32 life is not to do
14:34 something to impress god with what you
14:37 do your number one calling in life is to
14:39 receive something to let God love you
14:45 now the Bible says this in Ephesians
14:47 3 I pray and by the way as your pastor
14:51 this is my prayer for you during these
14:53 six weeks I pray that Christ will be
14:58 more and more at home in your hearts as
15:01 you trust him in other words that you
15:02 get more and more comfortable with go
15:04 with Jesus in your life may your roots
15:08 go down deep into the soil of God's
15:12 marvelous love your life needs to be
15:14 rooted in the love of God and he says
15:17 and may you have the power to understand
15:21 as all of God's people should how wide
15:25 and how high along and how high and how
15:28 deep deep his love really is and may you
15:34 experience the love of Christ not just
15:36 know it exper circle the word experience
15:38 God says I want you to feel loved I
15:40 don't want you to know you're loved I
15:42 want you to feel it I want you to feel
15:43 it in every fiber of your life may you
15:45 experience emotionally the love of
15:49 Christ though it is so
15:51 great you'll never
15:54 fully understand it as I've said it's
15:56 like an ant trying to understand that
15:59 internet your brain doesn't have the
16:01 capacity to understand how much God
16:03 loves you now the Bible says that part
16:06 of your calling is to understand how
16:08 wide long high and deep God's love for
16:11 you is so let me explain it to you write
16:13 this down how wide is God's love well
16:17 write this down it's wide enough to be
16:21 everywhere that's how wi it is there is
16:24 no place on this planet that God's love
16:27 isn't there's no place in the the
16:29 universe that God's love in it it's in
16:32 the bar where a bunch of people are
16:34 drunk it's in the red light district
16:37 where people are being sold and selling
16:39 their bodies it's in the bario the the
16:43 the slum the uh
16:47 flla the ghetto it's in the place of the
16:50 poorest of the poor it's in every there
16:53 is no place where God's love is not you
16:57 say well I don't see it there well that
16:59 doesn't mean it's there it's not there
17:01 there are a lot of things you can't see
17:03 that are real that are reality you just
17:05 can't see them for instance right now
17:07 through this Air wave there are radio
17:10 waves going through this air between me
17:13 and you actually these air these radio
17:15 waves are going through your body right
17:17 now and they carry music and there there
17:20 are television waves right now going
17:23 through the air that carrying colored
17:25 pictures you can't see them and you
17:27 can't hear them unless you have a
17:29 receiver and you are tuned
17:31 in they're real you just can't see them
17:34 we can't see God here right now you
17:36 don't see him but he's here he's real
17:40 and if you tune in you'll experience it
17:44 if you get on God's wavelength you will
17:46 experience his love you will know he is
17:49 as real as I am standing here today but
17:51 you got to tune
17:53 in and just CU you can't feel him or see
17:56 him right now doesn't mean he's not
17:57 there you can't see those radio Wes
17:59 there are a lot of stuff you can't see
18:01 you can't see an atom but everything in
18:03 life is composed of
18:06 atoms so how wide is life it's wide
18:09 enough to be everywhere that means there
18:11 in your life there will no be no place
18:13 you go where God is
18:15 Not and although you may feel lonely and
18:19 you may feel alone at different points
18:21 in your life you will never ever ever
18:25 truly be alone because God's love is
18:29 there whether you are aware or
18:33 not it's wi enough to be everywhere
18:36 number two it's long how long is God's
18:38 love it's long enough to last
18:42 forever now that makes it different than
18:44 human love because human love wears out
18:47 and that's why we have divorces and
18:50 that's why we have breakups that's why
18:52 we have conflict and that's why we have
18:54 people estranged from each other that
18:55 are not reconciled because human love
18:58 often wears out but God's love never
19:01 wears out God will never never never
19:06 never never never stop loving
19:11 you even if you chose to reject him and
19:14 go to hell God will still love you
19:17 because God's love is eternal he made
19:20 you to love you God loves you with an
19:24 everlasting love it's long enough to
19:27 last forever how deep is God 's love
19:29 it's deep enough to handle
19:32 anything deep enough to handle no matter
19:35 what pain you're going through what
19:36 problem you're going through or what
19:38 hurt you're going through God's love is
19:40 deeper still you say man I'm in the
19:43 pits I I've hit bottom I'm in the pit of
19:48 Hell right now I'm in the pit of despair
19:52 I can't get any lower than I am well let
19:54 me tell you what God's love goes deeper
19:56 and lower than your problem there is no
19:59 pit so deep that God's love is not
20:03 deeper it is deeper than any problem
20:06 you're going to ever hand deep enough to
20:07 handle anything and how about height how
20:10 high is God's love listen to this it is
20:14 high enough to overlook my sins to
20:18 overlook my faults to overlook my
20:22 mistakes because of Jesus Christ God is
20:25 able to overlook my faults my failures
20:28 my flood my sin my rebellion and God
20:32 offers forgiveness through the cross
20:35 because of his love and he offers you a
20:37 fresh chance to start
20:40 over
20:42 now 1 million years
20:44 ago before anything
20:48 existed God had already thought of you
20:50 and decided to choose you and love
20:53 you and God has been waiting your entire
20:57 life for this very moment where he could
21:02 get you to sit still for just a minute
21:04 and he could say this to
21:09 you you have no idea how much I love
21:14 you I have always loved you there has
21:18 never been a moment of your existence
21:19 that I didn't love you I was the one who
21:22 planned your birth I allowed that
21:26 fertilization I allowed that conception
21:29 I wanted you alive so I could love you
21:33 and I saw you formed in your mother's
21:35 womb I saw you take your first breath I
21:37 heard your first cry there's been no
21:40 moment of your life that I've turned my
21:42 back from you that I have not listened
21:44 to you that I've have not watched you
21:46 I've saw every pain you go through every
21:48 sin you've ever done the celebrations
21:51 and the sadness the happy times and the
21:53 sad times the grief the pain the
21:56 exhilaration I've been there at every
21:58 moment of your life and whether you
22:00 realized it or not I was gazing on you
22:02 in love because I made you to love
22:11 you so here's the question I wrote to
22:14 you this on an email this week how would
22:17 your life
22:19 change how would your life be different
22:21 how would it be transformed if you began
22:24 to be aware of God's
22:27 unconditional continuous and NeverEnding
22:31 love for you how would your life change
22:35 if when you got up in the morning the
22:37 first thing you felt was I am deeply and
22:40 unconditionally loved by God and as you
22:43 got out of bed and you went to the take
22:45 your shower you'd think I can sense
22:47 God's love in my life and how would it
22:50 be is as you got ready and you ate your
22:52 breakfast you felt the love of God and
22:54 as you got in your car to go to work you
22:56 felt the love of God and as you got to
22:58 work or you got to school you felt the
23:01 love of God and when you came home and
23:03 you went to a movie or you watched some
23:05 TV or you worked out in your backyard
23:07 you was sensing God's love what would it
23:09 be like if you felt God's love
23:12 unconditionally in your life totally and
23:16 you were aware of it all the time how
23:18 would that change your
23:20 life I want to give you five ways five
23:24 ways I could give you a hundred but I
23:26 want to give you five very practical
23:28 ways
23:29 that this concept if you get your first
23:32 calling in life is not to do something
23:34 your first calling in life is to receive
23:37 God's love to just let God love you what
23:41 happens when I learn to become aware all
23:44 the time there's no moment that I'm not
23:47 aware that I am loved unconditionally
23:50 deeply and eternally by God number
23:55 one I feel accepted rather than
24:01 ashamed I feel accepted rather than
24:06 ashamed and that'll change your life
24:08 most people go through their entire life
24:11 avoiding God and the reason why they
24:14 avoid God is because they are ashamed
24:16 they feel ashamed they feel guilty they
24:20 feel under condemnation they feel judged
24:24 they feel criticized they think God is a
24:26 perfect God and I am so not perfect so
24:30 why in the world would I want to hang
24:31 out with a perfect God who's simply
24:33 going to remind me of all the ways that
24:35 I
24:37 fail because that's not what God does
24:40 Jesus said I didn't come to condemn the
24:42 world I came to save it he said I didn't
24:45 come to condemn the world I came to save
24:46 the Bible says there's no condemnation
24:49 for those who are in Christ Jesus it's a
24:52 no condemnation
24:55 lifestyle now the Bible says this Romans
24:57 5:1
24:59 by faith we have been made
25:03 acceptable by God acceptable to God and
25:07 now because of our Lord Jesus Christ we
25:11 live in peace with him we've been made
25:14 acceptable to God Circle that word
25:17 acceptable and because of that God
25:20 accepts me completely totally
25:22 unconditionally because of his love I
25:25 live at peace with God now let me tell
25:27 you why that's so important because it
25:29 sets you free from the addiction that
25:32 you have to
25:35 approval you have spent your entire life
25:38 trying to gain the approval of other
25:40 people and everything you do is
25:43 determined to get other people's
25:46 acceptance and approval you dress the
25:48 way you do in order to get other
25:50 people's approval you talk the way you
25:53 do in order to get other people's
25:54 acceptance and approval you do certain
25:57 things in life some things you wouldn't
25:59 even want to do but you do them because
26:01 you want the approval of other people
26:03 and you are addicted to their approval
26:05 and you've been trying to gain approval
26:07 from some unpleasable people your entire
26:10 life and you're never going to get
26:12 it but when you realize that God loves
26:15 you unconditionally and without
26:18 condition of any type you realize this I
26:22 don't need the approval of other people
26:25 and it sets you free I don't need other
26:27 people approval to be
26:30 happy most of your life you have been
26:33 worried about what other people think
26:35 and that's because you don't feel
26:37 totally unconditionally loved by God and
26:40 when you don't feel it then you're
26:41 trying to make yourself impressive and
26:43 you're trying to approve uh get the
26:45 approval of other
26:49 people but when you know God loves you
26:51 can can criticism doesn't bother you
26:54 anymore it it it because if if God loves
26:57 me and I like me you don't like me
27:00 that's your
27:02 problem you know because I'm a pretty
27:06 well-known person uh in in this country
27:10 I get anybody who's who's pretty
27:11 wellknown is going to get a lot of
27:13 criticism and you say Rick how do you
27:15 handle all that criticism because I
27:17 don't care about
27:19 it I know God loves me unconditionally
27:22 so what's your
27:23 problem you know I don't need your
27:26 approval okay I don't need it
27:32 and whether you like me or not is
27:33 totally irrelevant to my happiness it's
27:35 not going to affect me one
27:36 bit because I'm not looking for your
27:39 love I'm looking to receive the love
27:42 that I'll never deserve from God
27:44 criticism doesn't bother you look at the
27:46 next verse Romans 8 if God says his
27:49 chosen ones are acceptable to him and he
27:52 has can anybody bring charges against
27:55 him the answer is
27:56 no or can any body condemn them the
27:59 answer is
28:00 no does criticism really matter them no
28:03 no
28:04 indeed because I feel accepted rather
28:07 than
28:08 ashamed that's a big one it'll set you
28:11 free number two when I experience the
28:14 unconditional love of God on a daily
28:16 Moment by moments basis I am bold in
28:19 bringing my needs to God I'm bold in my
28:23 prayers why because I'm a Son of God I'm
28:27 a daughter of God I'm a Child of God I'm
28:30 a member of the family and so I know God
28:32 loves me unconditionally and when I pray
28:34 to him I can talk to him about anything
28:36 cuz I'm his son when my kids were little
28:40 and they would come to me they could ask
28:43 me
28:44 anything and and and they would come and
28:47 just tell me what they needed they
28:49 assumed I had everything knew everything
28:51 and could afford
28:52 everything now you know that's not true
28:55 and I know that's true but with God it
28:57 is true
28:59 the Bible says well actually in Romans 8
29:03 all who are led by the spirit of God are
29:07 children of God so you should not be
29:11 cowering like fearful slaves no no no
29:14 you should behave instead like God's
29:17 very own children adopted into his
29:21 family God adopted the hind family
29:23 calling him father dear father now I
29:26 love that phrase father dear father the
29:28 word there is the Aramaic word ABA now
29:31 ABA is not just a Swedish rock
29:35 group ABA is the word in the Middle East
29:38 in almost all of the Semitic languages
29:40 for Daddy it's the first word every kid
29:44 in the Middle East learns ABA it's easy
29:46 to say Aba Papa dad Mama ABA ABA simply
29:53 means Daddy and the Bible says that when
29:56 you come to God In Prayer you come to
29:58 him and you say Dad Papa ABA father dear
30:04 father you don't come to with some fancy
30:07 phrase if my kids had come to me and say
30:12 they needed a loue somebody oh thou most
30:14 gracious progenitor of the Warren Family
30:18 thou wonderful Observer and keeper of
30:20 all the family funds I'd go
30:24 huh no no they just say Dad I need cash
30:29 cash okay it's just like real
30:31 straightforward very bold Dad I need
30:35 cash and the Bible says that you can

31:05 are his
31:06 children we will share in his treasures
31:10 in other words I'm a Son of God I get
31:12 the family inheritance you're a daughter
31:14 of God you get the family
31:15 inheritance we will share in his
31:17 treasure for everything God gives to his
31:20 son Christ is ours
31:24 too this last week Kay and I went to see
31:26 the movie uh Lincoln have you seen this
31:28 movie it's a good
31:30 movie you know what impressed me the
31:32 most about Lincoln was not what a great
31:34 leader he was he was and a magnanimous
31:35 leader he was what impressed me the most
31:38 throughout that movie was how he gave
31:41 total complete unconditional access to
31:46 his youngest child
31:48 Ted and Ted here's Lincoln the most
31:52 powerful man in the world in the
31:54 greatest crisis in American history the
31:57 Civil War there is a line of people
31:59 outside waiting to get in the Oval
32:01 Office waiting for weeks for an
32:03 appointment and little Tad can come
32:06 barging into the O Oval Office at any
32:08 point and Lincoln will stop talking to
32:11 the Secretary of War or the secretary of
32:13 defense or whatever and sit down and put
32:16 Tad on his on his on his uh lap and say
32:19 what's going on and Tad will even come
32:22 in with you know you know pulling a you
32:24 know a little horsey pulling a trailer
32:26 and all kinds of stuff and and why he
32:29 has privileges he's a
32:31 son he's not all those people like out
32:34 in the outer room he's family he gets
32:36 special entry he has Total Access to
32:40 God I'm a Son of God you're a Son of God
32:43 you're a daughter of God you get Total
32:45 Access because he loves you that much he
32:48 didn't say excuse me I'll put you on an
32:49 appointment in three
32:51 months you can come boldly to God and
32:54 talk to him about anything anytime
32:56 anywhere and God's not going to go uh
32:58 excuse me I'm a little busy I'm trying
33:00 to solve the Middle East crisis right
33:02 now no you're a child of God you get
33:06 special
33:07 privileges and you bold in bringing your
33:10 needs to God I remember last year uh
33:13 when uh
33:15 You2 greatest rock group on the planet
33:18 right now came and did part of their you
33:20 their 360 concert series uh here in
33:23 Southern California most of you know
33:26 Bono and I are pretty good friends we've
33:27 done some stuff together on AIDS the
33:29 peace plan and things like that and I've
33:31 known him and Kade knows him real well
33:33 and and uh so when we he was coming to
33:36 town he sent all of my family uh not
33:39 just tickets but all access badges
33:43 passes so when you go over to Anheim
33:46 Stadium there were like Realm rings of
33:50 you know really dud people get kept out
33:52 here and then if you're cool you can get
33:54 into this far and if you're super cool
33:57 you get into this level if you're really
33:59 cool you get in this L and if you're
34:00 like family you get all access you can
34:03 go
34:04 anywhere and uh I have to admit I later
34:07 had to confess my pride but I loved
34:09 going around showing this
34:14 off all access yeah and you go up and
34:18 here's these giant thugs standing and
34:20 going how you going to get in here I'm
34:22 part of the family please come in Mr
34:25 Warren you know when you become a child
34:29 of God you get an all access
34:32 pass and God goes you're in any time you
34:35 want to talk to me pick up the phone
34:38 talk to me talk to me in prayer 24 hours
34:40 a day I become bold in bringing my needs
34:44 to God look at this verse Hebrews
34:48 4:16 let us then approach the throne of
34:51 grace that means prayer let us approach
34:54 the throne of grace with confidence the
34:56 word is actually boldness so that we may
34:59 receive
35:01 mercy and find Grace to help us when in
35:05 our time of need you need to be bold in
35:08 your prayer you're a Son of God you're a
35:11 daughter of God you're loved
35:12 unconditionally and Jesus said you can
35:14 ask anything in my name I feel accepted
35:20 rather than ashamed and I am bold in
35:23 bringing my needs to my ABA father my
35:26 papa father number three when I
35:30 understand God's love conditioning and I
35:32 just experience it not just know it I
35:34 have peace in pain I don't
35:39 understand peace in pain that I don't
35:43 understand you're going to have a lot of
35:45 things that happen in your life you
35:47 don't get you're going to ask the why
35:49 questions of life God why is this
35:52 happening to me why is this happening to
35:54 our family why now why here why this
35:58 you're going to see things happen in the
35:59 world Lord why now let me just say
36:02 upfront God doesn't owe you an
36:04 explanation for why he allows anything I
36:08 will tell you this not everything that
36:09 happens in the world is God's will God
36:11 hates evil and a lot of evil is done in
36:13 the world and God could easily take away
36:15 evil really simple take away your
36:17 freedom to do it and mine too because
36:21 you've done some evil things in life and
36:23 so have I and he could easily get rid of
36:25 all suffering by taking away your choice
36:28 and my choice and turn us all into
36:30 puppets but he wants us to voluntarily
36:32 love so he puts up with the pain that
36:36 evil cause in order to give you the
36:37 freedom of
36:39 choice and you're going to go through
36:41 life and a lot of things in life you're
36:42 not going to understand losses you don't
36:45 understand hurts you don't understand
36:48 rejection you don't understand problems
36:50 you don't understand but here's the
36:52 thing you don't have to understand them
36:54 to be at
36:55 peace in fact and explanation doesn't
36:58 give you peace anyway when someone you
37:00 love dies if somebody told you the
37:01 explanation for it it wouldn't get make
37:03 you any happier you still have the loss
37:06 explanations don't cover what you need
37:08 is not peace I mean not uh an
37:10 explanation you need presence the
37:13 presence of God in your life and what
37:16 you need is what the Bible calls the
37:18 peace that passes understanding look up
37:21 here on the screen Philippians 4:7 says
37:24 this the peace of God which pass passes
37:28 all understanding will keep your hearts
37:32 and Minds through Christ Jesus now what
37:36 is the peace that passes understanding
37:39 it's when you feel at peace even though
37:41 you don't understand what's going on you
37:43 have no reason no explanation no
37:46 discernment you just don't know why it's
37:48 happening but you're still at peace and
37:50 that is a supernatural peace that comes
37:53 from God is that peace that passes
37:55 understanding because I don't know why
37:56 this is happening happening but I do
37:59 know this I do know God is a good
38:02 god and I do know that he loves me and I
38:07 do know that he wants what's best for my
38:09 life and I do know that I can trust him
38:12 even when I don't understand it that's
38:15 the piece that passes understanding and
38:17 it comes from feeling the love of God in
38:20 your
38:23 life when I was five and a half years
38:25 old
38:27 my sister was 2 years old my dad was a
38:31 pastor in Portland Oregon he built the
38:33 church there one day my dad and my
38:36 sister and I were in the car together my
38:38 mom was at
38:39 home and in those days there was no such
38:42 thing as car seats in fact there weren't
38:44 even
38:45 strap seat belts it was just the little
38:47 belt around the front and they didn't
38:50 even have seat belts in the middle it
38:51 was just like on the two
38:53 sides and so we were in the car together
38:56 and my dad was driving and I was in the
38:58 front seat with my seat belt on and my
39:00 baby sister 2 years old was in the back
39:02 seat with the seat belt on and as we got
39:05 ready to go across a bridge one of the
39:08 many bridges in the city of Portland
39:09 across the Columbia River as dad started
39:12 to go across that bridge a car swerved
39:15 in front of our car and in order to not
39:19 hit it my dad jerked the car and did a
39:22 quick right turn to avoid being hit and
39:25 hitting that car and when we did the car
39:29 fishtailed and when it
39:31 fishtailed the back door of that car of
39:34 our car opened and I watched my baby
39:36 sister fly out the back
39:41 door I will never never forget that
39:46 sight and I watched my little
39:50 sister tumble over um gravel that was
39:55 covered with tar right there by the side
39:58 of that um that
40:00 bridge and in horror I watched her
40:03 tumble over and over as she flew out
40:05 that
40:09 door I'll never forget what happened
40:11 next my dad slammed on the break jammed
40:15 it in the park jumped out of the car and
40:17 ran over and scooped up my baby sister
40:21 who was bleeding
40:23 profusely in his
40:25 arms uh ran back to the car and put her
40:29 in the front
40:30 seat and uh there was no seat belt for
40:34 so it was my job to keep her there while
40:37 he's driving 90 mil or 80 mil or 70 M an
40:40 hour however fast it was to get to the
40:44 hospital we get to the
40:47 hospital and they Rush my baby sister
40:49 into the emergency and dad runs over to
40:53 the phone to call my mom to tell her
40:56 about this horrible scene that we have
40:58 just
40:59 witnessed and I'm sitting as a 5 and 1/
41:01 halfy old boy in that waiting room by
41:05 myself having just witnessed this
41:07 horrific
41:10 event and I was paralyzed with
41:14 fear and in my simple little way as a
41:17 little boy I began to
41:21 pray and all of the sudden the peace
41:25 that passes understanding came over my
41:29 life and one thought went through
41:32 this my father will handle
41:36 this my my father will will handle
41:40 this now you and I know that human
41:42 fathers don't have unlimited ability
41:46 unlimited power but your heavenly father
41:50 does and he can handle anything he has
41:54 unlimited power and he has unlimited
41:56 love and when you realize that he is
41:58 good and he is God and he loves you and
42:01 the things that don't make sense in your
42:03 life you can have the peace that passes
42:06 understanding now God's love does not
42:09 exempt you from pain or suffering in
42:11 this life no Christians have the exact
42:15 same problems that non-christians do the
42:19 difference is we get the peace that
42:23 passes
42:24 understanding where I can trust God in a
42:27 moment when everything is falling apart
42:30 around me and I can
42:32 know there's a promise in the Bible we
42:35 just looked at it last week Romans
42:38 8:28 and we know that in all things even
42:43 the bad things God works for the good of
42:46 those who love him who have been called
42:50 Circle that word called according to his
42:53 purpose Circle that purpose calling and
42:55 purpose to go together and when we live
42:57 the calling and we live out our purpose
43:00 and we let God love us and we love God
43:02 back we can know that in all things God
43:06 is working for the good of those who
43:09 love him and that gives us the Peace of
43:12 pass's understanding number four the
43:15 fourth things that happens when I know
43:17 that I'm totally loved by God is I gain
43:20 the courage to take
43:23 risks I gain the courage to take risk
43:26 when somebody believes in you you are
43:29 capable of accomplishing things you
43:31 would never be able to accomplish on
43:33 your own just because they believe in
43:37 you it gives you an additional power it
43:40 gives you additional energy you know
43:42 sometimes when we're doing uh Christmas
43:44 or Easter some of these times when I'm
43:46 doing 14 16 Services back to back and
43:49 along about number nine I'll start to
43:51 get tired and I think I don't think I
43:53 got the energy to do this and I'll look
43:54 right over here to my wife who sits
43:56 right down here and she'll wink at me
43:58 and I'll think I could do a hundred
44:01 more cuz all I need her to do is to
44:04 believe in me and I it gives me enormous
44:08 energy when someone believes in you
44:11 unconditionally the way God does and
44:13 when you experience that it releases you
44:16 you have dreams that have gone
44:18 unfulfilled in your life because you
44:20 have been scared to death to go after
44:22 him what if I fail and you're going to
44:25 die with unfulfilled dream dreams unless
44:28 you key in to the love of God and you
44:32 let him give you that confidence that
44:34 comes from him believing in
44:37 you even if you're old it's not too
44:43 late when I was in the seventh grade we
44:46 lived up in Northern California in the
44:49 Redwoods and uh uh I was taking a shop
44:53 class in the seventh grade and uh we
44:56 everybody was supposed supposed to make
44:57 something for shop class and I decided
45:00 for that Christmas I was going to make
45:02 my mom and dad a redwood table now a
45:05 little True Confession here your pastor
45:07 has zero artistic and and uh craft
45:12 ability I my I'm just not very
45:14 coordinated with my hands I'm just not
45:17 good at all and I decided that I was
45:20 going to make this Redwood table and
45:22 after about I worked on it for about 6
45:24 months hard we had a barn on our
45:26 property and I wouldn't let my parents
45:27 come out the barn cuz I was working on
45:29 it there for 6 months and after 6 months
45:32 it was a
45:33 disaster I mean a mess and I mean
45:36 nothing in this this table looked right
45:40 I mean it was all wampy jawed it it it
45:43 it was misbalanced one Edge was longer
45:46 than the other it was had bad sanding
45:48 and parts of it were nicked off and I
45:50 had done too much lacquer at one end and
45:52 not enough at the other and it was a
45:55 mess and I remember how disappointed I
45:58 was in myself and how bad I felt I so
46:02 badly wanted this to be a nice gift for
46:06 uh for my parents and I just remember
46:09 sitting down in that Barn one day and
46:11 just
46:13 sobbing and I just thought I wanted this
46:15 thing to work out and I've given it my
46:17 best shot but truthfully my best isn't
46:20 good enough it just
46:24 sucks and I was there literally sobbing
46:27 in that barn by
46:30 myself and my dad heard
46:35 me and he came up to the barn and he
46:37 asked for permission to come in and I
46:40 let him come
46:41 in and I said dad I I just I just
46:44 screwed it up I have made such a mess of
46:47 this and I I wanted it so badly to be
46:51 nice but it's
46:55 not I don't never forget what he
46:58 said he said you know son it's
47:03 okay we can start over not you we can
47:07 start over and this time I'll help
47:12 you now my dad was a master Carpenter in
47:16 his lifetime he built about 150 churches
47:21 all around the world he knew how to
47:22 build stuff so if my dad said this time
47:26 I'll help you it's a done deal okay it's
47:29 going to
47:31 succeed and this is what your heavenly
47:33 father is saying to you today I don't
47:36 care if you're 15 or 50 or 95 God is
47:40 saying you may have really messed it up
47:42 royally and you gave it your best shot
47:45 but it just flat out wasn't good enough
47:47 and you really to be honest if you're
47:49 honest with your you're disappointed in
47:51 your
47:51 life and your heavenly father comes to
47:54 you today and
47:55 says it's okay okay you can start over
47:59 and this time I'll help you we will do
48:03 it together and one plus God is a done
48:09 deal I don't care how old you are it's
48:12 not too late to make that start
48:16 over nine-year-old Malachi Paul was just
48:21 a young little kid who auditioned for
48:25 Britain's Got Talent Britain go Talent
48:27 is the UK counterpart to American Idol
48:31 or the voice where you go and you
48:33 addition and then if you win that you go
48:35 to another edition if you win that you
48:37 start being on the show and uh and if
48:39 you get on the show then you you know
48:41 you try to win without getting
48:43 eliminated and Malachi Paul was at his
48:46 first audition packed out and when he
48:49 saw the crowd he got stage fright and he
48:52 choked and he started singing and it
48:55 just was coming out all bad bad really
48:57 bad and he wasn't doing very good at it
49:00 and he got so embarrassed at his own
49:03 work he froze on stage and just stopped
49:05 and started
49:08 crying his single mom was standing in
49:10 the wings and she runs out and she hugs
49:12 him and I want you to know notice how on
49:17 this video unconditional love turns a
49:20 loser into a winter watch

49:31 with my mom one thing I'm worried about
49:33 today is Malachi getting stage right he
49:36 gets a bit nervous yeah sometimes I get

49:50 normally be in front of him now he's got

55:20 little inkling of how much he loves
55:24 you I've said many times it's not your
55:28 problem is not that you don't love God
55:31 your problem is you don't know how much
55:33 he loves you because if you did you
55:36 could not help but love
55:40 him and this is the moment where a
55:43 million years ago before anything
55:46 happened in your life God chose you and
55:51 decided to create you to love
55:54 you and you have spent your entire life
55:57 afraid to surrender your total life to
56:02 God and the reason why you've been
56:05 afraid to surrender your total life to
56:07 God is because you don't know how much
56:09 he loves you nobody
56:11 knows what is best for you nobody knows
56:15 what will make your life better than God
56:18 does so this is your
56:20 moment this is your breakthrough
56:23 moment this is the moment where you let
56:26 go of fear the Bible says this on the
56:28 screen there is no fear in
56:32 love but perfect love drives out all
56:35 fear because fear has to do with
56:37 punishment When Love Comes in the front
56:40 door of your life fear goes out the back
56:43 you need to stop being afraid of
56:45 God and you need to accept his love and
56:48 the fear will drain out of your
56:51 life so how do I become a son of God
56:57 how do I become a daughter of God how do
57:01 I become a child of God on the screen
57:03 the Bible says in John chapter 1 verse
57:06 12 to all who believed him that's Jesus
57:11 and accepted him he's already accepted
57:14 you accepted him Jesus gave the right to
57:19 become children of
57:22 God so let's talk to God about it this
57:25 is your moment let's bow our
57:29 heads I want you to pray this prayer
57:32 that will change and transform the rest
57:35 of your
57:37 life dear
57:39 God just say this in your heart I am so
57:43 amazed at how much you love
57:46 me thank you that your love for me is
57:49 white enough to be everywhere I
57:53 go thank you that your love for me is
57:57 long enough to never to last forever you

58:05 deep enough to handle all my
58:09 problems thank you God that your love is
58:13 high enough to overlook all my sins all
58:16 my mistakes all my faults and failures

58:33 you I need the peace that passes
58:36 understanding I want to have peace even
58:39 in pain that I don't
58:42 understand I need your love to give me
58:45 the courage to take risks to go after my
58:50 dream Jesus Christ as best I know how I
58:54 Surrender every part of
58:57 and room of my
59:00 life and I want to learn to love you
59:02 back because you love me so much and I'm
59:05 going to spend the rest of my life with
59:07 that first calling of letting you love
59:12 me and I pray this in your name amen

59:54 you understand the love of God in your
59:56 life is I worship instead of
60:00 worry I worship instead of worry what is
60:03 worship worship is simply expressing my
60:06 love to God anytime you say to God I
60:08 love you God that's
60:10 worship you can worship in a small group
60:13 you can worship in a church building a
60:15 service you can worship with the windows
60:18 rolled down your car and the and the
60:19 radio blaring anytime you express love
60:22 to God you are
60:24 worshiping worship is always response we
60:27 love God because he first loved us look
60:29 on the screen we love God we love
60:32 because God first loved us remember your
60:35 problem is not that you don't love God
60:37 your problem is you don't understand how
60:39 much he loves you now how do you know
60:42 and we'll close with this how do you
60:46 know when you're not feeling God's love
60:49 oh it's real simple one simple thing
60:54 worry when you worry at that moment you
60:57 have forgotten how much God loves you
60:59 worry is acting like an atheist worry is
61:03 pretending you're an orphan worry is
61:06 saying I've forgotten I have a heavenly
61:08 father who loves me wants what's best
61:10 for me and created me and is watching
61:12 over me worry is pretending like you're
61:15 all on your own you're not worry at that
61:18 moment means at this point I have
61:21 forgotten how much God loves
61:24 me and you need need to choose worship
61:27 over worry my oldest son Josh had to go
61:30 back East this week and he hates to fly
61:33 when there's turbulence and because of
61:35 the storms he said Dad it was constant
61:38 turbulence and he said I had to decide
61:40 was I going to worry or was I going to
61:41 worship so instead of worrying he said I
61:43 put in my earbuds and put on a bunch of
61:45 worship
61:46 songs you're going to Panic or pray the
61:48 rest of your life you're going to worry
61:51 or you're going to worship you're going
61:52 to look at your problem or you're going
61:54 to look at God Jesus said this
61:56 don't worry about having enough food or
61:59 drink or clothing he'll give you all you
62:01 need from day to day if you live for him
62:04 and make the kingdom of God your primary
62:06 concern so don't worry about tomorrow
62:09 for tomorrow will bring its own worries
62:11 today's trouble is enough for today and
62:15 this promise that verse right there is
62:17 why we're doing live your calling now
62:20 the next four weeks you don't want to
62:21 miss any week this is the most important
62:23 series I've ever done you want to miss
62:26 any week those next four
62:29 callings don't matter at all if you
62:31 don't get this first one cuz they all
62:32 flow out of love not out of Duty not out
62:36 of guilt not out of pressure but they
62:39 flow out of letting God love you being
62:42 loved so let me close
62:45 now first three things number one it's
62:49 not too late to get in a group if you're
62:51 not in a group I don't want you to miss
62:55 these six lectures that I videotaped I
62:57 don't want you to miss this discussion I
62:58 don't want you to miss the new stuff
63:00 I've written in uh in the book and if
63:02 you'll say I'll get a couple friends and
63:05 we'll go through this material the next
63:06 six weeks go out to the patio and we'll
63:09 get this for you it's not too late
63:11 because that's the heart of what we're
63:13 studying second if you missed the last
