At exactly 11:00 in the morning,
an elderly man dressed in simple clothes was slowly walking towards the city's biggest five-star hotel.
His name was Mohanlal. He had an old bag in his hand
, but as soon as he
reached the hotel gate, the guard's forehead immediately
frowned. The guard came forward and
blocked the way and said, Baba, where did you come here?
What is your work here? Mohan Lal
said with a slight smile, son, I have a
booking here. Just wanted to ask about that. The
guard laughingly said to his colleague, hey
look, Baba is saying that he has a booking here. The
guard then said to Mohanlal. Baba,
look, you must have made some mistake. Maybe
someone gave you the wrong address because
this hotel is very luxurious. Big
officials come here. No common man can
afford this. Meanwhile, the hotel
receptionist Priya Saxena overheard this conversation.
He cast his eyes on Mohanlal. I
looked at him from head to toe and a
faint smile appeared on my lips. That smile was
not one of welcome but of taunting and neglect.
Priya said, Baba, I don't think
you will have any booking in this hotel. This
hotel is very expensive. Maybe you have come to the wrong place.
Mohanlal replied with the same ease.
Daughter, please check it once. Maybe my
booking is here. Priya
shrugged her shoulders casually and said, “Okay Baba, it will take time.”
You go to the waiting area and sit down.
Mohan Lal nodded and
slowly moved towards the waiting area.
Many guests in the lobby were staring at him strangely.
Someone said softly, it seems he has come to
eat free food. Someone else said that he does
n't even have the means to
buy a glass of water here. Mohan Lal
heard all this. But he remained silent. He
sat on a chair in the corner. He placed the bag
on the ground and sat quietly with both hands resting on the stick. The
atmosphere in the lobby had become strange.
People were sipping tea and coffee and
pointing towards them and talking.
A small child asked his mother
innocently. Mummy, why is this Baba
sitting here? He doesn't look like a hotel owner. The
mother said to the child, son, it is all a matter
of fate. When luck doesn't favor you, you have to
listen to everyone. Meanwhile
Priya passed by there again. He
told his fellow staff. I don't know
what the manager will say? It is also a risk to make such people sit here. The
image of the hotel is getting tarnished. The
friend laughed and said, no problem.
After some time it will get up and go away on its own.
Mohanlal was listening to all this. But he could
not say a word. He was just waiting for
someone to listen to him. He remained sitting like this for an hour.
Sometimes he would look at the watch and sometimes he would
glance towards the reception. He was hoping that someone would
come and say, yes Baba, you have a booking.
But this did not happen. Mohan Lal slowly
took support of the chair and stood up.
He looked towards the reception and said,
daughter, if you are busy then call your manager.
I have to talk to him about something important too.
Priya thought to herself. Now he has to
meet the manager also. Then he reluctantly
picked up the phone and called hotel manager Vikram Singh.
He said, "Sir, an old man
wants to meet you." Vikram
saw Mohan Lal from a distance and said laughingly on the phone
, is he our guest or has he just come like this
? I don't have time right now. Let them
sit. He will go away himself in a while.
Priya repeated the same order and asked Mohan Lal to
sit for some more time. Mohan
Lal took a deep breath and sat down again on the same corner
chair. The burden of all eyes was
on his shoulders. But there was still the same patience in his eyes.
As if you are saying that the truth can be
hidden but cannot be stopped.
Mohan Lal was still sitting in the lobby. Time was
passing slowly. But for him every
minute was becoming as heavy as a mountain.
Meanwhile, receptionist Priya Saxena
came to him again. He said in a dry voice,
Baba, you will have to wait a little longer.
Manager sir is still busy.
Mohan Lal smiled and nodded and
said, okay daughter, I will wait. At the
same time, hotel manager Vikram Singh was
sitting in his cabin talking to a foreign client
on the phone.
Pride was clearly visible on his face. As soon as I hung up the phone,
Priya called again from the reception.
Priya said, "Sir, that old man is still
sitting in the lobby. You should meet him once.
" Vikram said laughingly, let him sit. He will get
tired after some time and will go away on his own.
I don't have time for such useless people.
Just then a small
employee came there. The name was Suraj Verma. He was the
bell boy of the hotel. He looked at Mohan Lal.
Everyone in the lobby was making fun of him. But there was
respect for him in Suraj's eyes. He
slowly came closer and said, Baba, since when have you been sitting here
? Didn't anyone help you? Mohan
Lal looked at him smilingly and said,
son, I want to meet the manager but it
seems he is busy. Sun's face
tightened. He said, Baba, don't worry. I will
talk to him right now. Mohan Lal
nodded. Thank you very much. May God
keep you happy. Suraj
walked quickly towards the manager's cabin. As soon as he
reached the door, he knocked and went inside.
Vikram Singh asked with a gesture, "What's the
matter?" Suraj said respectfully, "Sir, there is
an elderly man sitting in the lobby. He wants to meet you.
" Vikram raised his eyebrows and
said in a cold voice, Suraj, how many times have I
told you to stay away from useless people. He
is not a guest. Maybe someone has come by mistake.
Suraj said softly. But sir,
he has said that he has to talk to you about something important.
Vikram laughed. Hey, the important thing is, do
you even have an idea how many crores worth of
business is done here and you want to introduce me to such a Baba?
Suraj remained silent but was
sad from inside. He thought
how can a person be rejected just by looking at his face. Should
someone forget humanity after sitting on a high position?
Vikram said in a stern voice, Suraj,
you do your work, this matter is beyond your control.
Suraj bowed his head and came out. As soon as he
returned to the lobby, he
looked towards Mohan Lal. There was still patience in his eyes.
Suraj sat near him and said, Baba,
I tried but the manager sir does
not want to meet me right now. Mohan Lal smiled and
placed his hand on his shoulder and said, it's okay
son. did you try. This
is enough for me. Suraj's eyes filled with tears. He
realized that this old man was no ordinary man. There was
a strange power hidden in his simplicity. The
atmosphere in the lobby had become even heavier now.
People's taunts and laughter, Mohanlal's
silence and Suraj's restlessness all together were
creating a strange picture. About 1 hour had passed.
Mohanlal was still sitting on the same chair.
He slowly closed his eyes
and thought that patience is the real strength.
But now the time has come for the truth to come out. The
hotel clock struck 12:30. Mohan Lal could
no longer sit quietly. He slowly
raised his wand. I hung my bag on my shoulder and headed towards the
reception. Several people sitting in the lobby
taunted again. Look, Baba is going to
fight with the manager now.
Priya Saxena, standing at the reception, saw him coming.
He said irritably, Baba, where were you
? Please wait. The manager is still busy.
Mohanlal looked at her and
said in a soft voice, daughter, you have waited a lot. Now
I will talk to him myself. Saying this,
Mohanlal went straight towards the cabin of manager Vikram Singh. There was
silence in the lobby. Everyone's
eyes were fixed on that side. Everyone wanted to see what was going to happen
next. As
Mohan Lal opened the cabin door, Vikram was
sitting stiffly in his swivel chair. Raising his eyebrows he said, yes
Baba, tell me why are you making so much noise?
what work do you have? Mohanlal slowly
opened the bag and took out an envelope from inside it.
Taking it forward he said, these are
some details related to my booking and hotel.
Please take a look. Vikram laughed and
took the envelope in his hand but
threw it on the table without opening it. His
arrogance was clearly visible in his laughter. He said, Baba, when
a person does not have money in his pocket, then it is
absolutely useless to talk to him about big things like booking. I can
tell by just looking at the faces of people like you that you have
nothing. This hotel is beyond your reach. It would be
better if you leave from here. Mohan
Lal looked into his eyes. His voice was
deep and serious now. He said,
son, how did you decide without seeing? Please
look at these papers once. The truth is often
not what it seems. Vikram
leaned back in his chair and laughed loudly and
said, Baba, I don't need to look at any paper.
I have been
managing this hotel for years. I can recognize people's status just by looking at their faces.
Your face says you have nothing.
Hearing this, some guests sitting in the lobby also
started laughing. Mohan Lal took a deep breath. He
placed the envelope on the table and said in a calm voice, “
Okay, since you are not sure,
I will leave.” But remember,
you will have to suffer the consequences of what you did today. With
that, he
stepped towards the door. The guest sitting behind
whispered. Wow, the manager got it right. Such
people should learn a lesson here. Mohanlal came
out of the hotel. His slow gait and
stooped back left an awkward silence among the entire staff.
But Vikram kept
smiling while sitting on his chair. There was a
mixed expression of pride and contempt on his face.
Meanwhile, bell boy Suraj Verma
moved towards that envelope. He gently
picked it up and silently walked towards his server computer.
He logged in on the computer screen
and started opening files.
Based on the details written in the envelope, he
searched the old records of the hotel.
His eyes widened shortly after. The
information on the screen made Suraj shudder. It was
clearly written in the records that Suraj, the
founding member and 65% share holder of Mohanlal Hotel, started
breathing heavily. He took
out the report from a foreign printer. With the paper in his hand,
he ran to the manager's cabin.
Inside, Vikram was still
talking to a client on the phone. Suraj
said softly, "Sir, look at this report. This is the same
old man who came here. He is the
real owner of our hotel." Vikram hung up the phone,
looking at Suraj and raising his eyebrows. "
Suraj, how many times have I told you? I'm
not interested in reports from such people.
This is all nonsense." Suraj tried again. "
But sir, this report clearly states that
Mohan Lal is the owner of our hotel. If
we've made a mistake," Vikram
interrupted. He
slid the report towards himself, looked at it, and then
pushed it back towards Suraj without reading it. His voice was
even more arrogant than before.
"I don't want all this nonsense," he said.
I told you, do your work. This hotel
runs with my management skills.
Not from any old Baba's donation. Suraj was
surprised. There was deep anxiety on his face.
He left with the report in hand. As soon as he
came to the lobby, he remembered Mohanlal. The
depth of his eyes, his patience made
him feel that this matter was no longer limited to the hotel only.
This is a test of humanity.
Gradually it started getting evening. The guests
went to their respective rooms. The staff got busy with their work.
But the turmoil in Suraj's heart kept increasing.
He was sure that tomorrow would change the picture of this hotel. The
next morning the scene was
completely different. There was hustle and bustle in every corner of the hotel. The
staff were whispering amongst themselves.
Someone said that perhaps there is something important about the Baba who came yesterday. The
other one
replied, yes, I have heard that he is a big shareholder of the hotel.
This news gradually
spread throughout the hotel. But no one was
still convinced. The question in everyone's mind
was, could that old man really be the
owner of this luxurious hotel? As soon as 10:30 came, the
atmosphere in the lobby suddenly changed. The
same old man Mohanlal, dressed in simple clothes, came in from the main gate of the hotel.
But this
time he was not alone. He was accompanied by an
officer wearing a suit and boots, carrying a black
briefcase. Everyone's eyes were
fixed in that direction at the same moment. The guard,
receptionist and waiter all stood there in silence. The ones
everyone ignored yesterday. Today the
same person was entering the hotel like an emperor.
Mohanlal gestured with his right hand
, call the manager. There was no softness in the voice now
but the harshness of an order. After
some time Vikram Singh came out. There was
slight panic on his face.
But the ego was still there. He
smiled halfway and said, yes, please tell me Baba.
Came again today. Mohan Lal looked into his eyes and
said in a cold voice, Vikram Singh, I
told you yesterday itself that you will have to face the consequences of your actions.
Today that day has come.
Vikram was taken aback. He
tried to avoid the topic by laughing. The officer who came with Mohanlal
opened the brief case. He
took out a thick file from it and placed it on the table in front of everyone.
He said loudly, "These documents clearly
state that 65% of the shares of this hotel are in Mohan Lal
's name. He is the real owner." The entire
staff was stunned. Priya Saxena's
hands started trembling. The guests in the lobby
looked at each other and whispered. This is
really the owner. What a big mistake we have made.
Mohanlal placed his stick on the ground.
His voice was now loud and firm. Vikram
Singh, from today you will no longer be the manager of this hotel.
Suraj Verma will now take over this post in your place.
Vikram said trembling with anger,
"Who are you to remove me?"
I have been running this hotel for years.
Mohanlal thundered, "I built this hotel.
Its foundation was laid by my hard work.
" If I wanted, I could show you the door in a moment.
But as a punishment,
you are being given field work. Now
do the same work that you got others to do.
Mohan Lal called Suraj near him. Putting his
hand on his shoulder, he said, "
You did not have money but you had humanity in your heart.
That is real capability. That is why
you deserve this post." Tears rolled down Suraj's eyes.
He said emotionally,
"Sir, I just did my duty as a human being.
Mohan Lal smiled. This is the greatest
qualification, son. Then he
looked towards the receptionist Priya Saxena.
His gaze was so harsh that Priya trembled.
Mohan Lal said, Priya, this is your
first mistake, that is why I am forgiving you.
But remember, never
judge anyone by their clothes in this hotel. Every human being has
equal respect. Priya folded her hands
and said crying, "Forgive me. This will never happen again.
" Mohan Lal
looked around and said loudly, listen
everyone. This hotel is not just for the rich.
Here humanity will be the real identity. Anyone who
differentiates between rich and poor will
not be worthy of living in this place. The guests in the lobby
applauded loudly. Everyone was
looking at Mohan Lal with respect.
Those who were considering him insignificant till yesterday, today
bowed before him. Mohan Lal finally
said, real wealth lies not in money but in thinking.
If the thinking is big then the person himself
becomes big. Saying this, he
left the hotel with the officer. The
staff and guests standing behind kept looking at him for a long time
and kept thinking in their minds. The owner should be someone
who recognizes others by their humanity and
not by their clothes. After that day the
atmosphere of the hotel changed completely. The
staff now treats every guest with respect.
People say that Mohanlal not only
built a hotel but also laid the foundation of humanity.
