Hello everyone
, welcome back to the Israel mega channel.
Today is Israel's Independence Day,
78th anniversary. This is the second part of the video. The first part was this morning.
We're currently in front of the Old City of Jerusalem,
where there's a concert. This is the city government
's third year hosting this
immersive, role-playing performance
that allows you to interact with ancient people.
So at each stop,
there will be singing,
acting
, and you can take photos with them.
Every year, there are newsboys
who give you event schedules
or maps.
Thank you,
Yom! Hamediah*
The Birth of Israel
, hahaha,
it's so cool!
It's imitating that old newspaper,
"The Birth of Israel."
This is them reading the Declaration of Independence.
Ben-Gurion and Weizmann,
the first president and prime minister—
so many people, so lively and happy!
You can see from their clothes
that they represent different eras. Although
Israel
is only 78 years old this year
, its history
can be traced back to the time of King David,
which is 3,000 years. That
's why people say Jerusalem is 3,000 years old.
Their clothes
look like they're from the Hasmonean era
, before Jesus came to earth.
When Jesus came, it was the Roman era,
and before that, it was
the Greek and Hasmonean era.
But I think the most impressive are the two... Before the prayer,
we were still fighting,
and then suddenly there was a ceasefire
, so quickly
. Everyone was
actively participating in these activities
as if there hadn't been a war at all
. And then,
he's wearing a uniform from the British Mandate period,
so it's the story of the transition from the Ottoman Turkish period
to the British Mandate period.
You see, the left side is the Ottoman Turkish period, and
the right side is the British Mandate period.
After the British Mandate period ended,
Israel
was established . I will
compile this history into a lecture
, and you can download
it for free.
I
think I'll guess it
's still the same, the British Mandate period,
because that's when
Jews were allowed to return.
Israel is a very small country.
And now, its total population
has finally broken 10 million, which is 10... Despite having a population of millions
, this small area
is incredibly diverse,
with people of different religious beliefs and ethnicities
, including religious Jews and secular Jews.
It's a truly fascinating place.
Seeing people from different eras
is even more moving
because the history of this land is incredibly complex.
I don't know which period this is depicting, but
he's acting so seriously.
What would he do if there weren't these people sitting in front of him?
(Serious baby)
Wrong guess! This is the Roman era
. He's Hadrian.
Don't worry, everyone
, I will definitely compile the historical lecture
notes for everyone to download. You can download them directly.
He's currently talking about
renaming the province of Judah to
Palestine.
This did indeed happen historically.
If you go to Rome,
you'll see
Hadrian's Arches everywhere.
This is why,
even after so many wars,
the Jews still chose to remain in this land.
For the past 2,000 years,
during their exile,
they couldn't return.
It was only with great difficulty, according to God's promise,
that they were summoned back from the nations, with a great banner raised.
The Jews in exile
did not forget Zion.
So it was the God who made the covenant with Israel
who brought them back
, and this nation did not forget
the God of their ancestors.
In my previous episode, there was a video showing
how we can
sometimes tell
whether it was the Jews in exile
or those from biblical times. The reasons for their survival
are quite obvious: they had dietary restrictions,
they didn't lose their language ,
they observed the Sabbath tradition
, they observed all the festival traditions
, and they gathered in synagogues.
These are all very clear reasons why
they were a
distinct ethnic group
from the Catholic society of Europe at that time.
Most importantly,
Jews knew they were Jews;
they said they were Jews,
and they followed all Jewish culture.
This means they were Jewish.
This is a
mosaic of Abraham offering Isaac, discovered in
the 4th century
in a synagogue in Galilee.
This is just a replica.
You can also see that
this shows that Jews
were not entirely... Some left this land,
while others remained.
This was mentioned in the previous video
; the Italian Jews
were still donating to the
Jewish community in Jerusalem,
specifically to the Tower of David
. There are many permanent exhibitions there.
If you're interested, you can buy tickets and
come at other times. Today it's free,
but everyone's probably watching the performances, so
no one's looking at the permanent exhibitions
. I ran into my neighbor; it was so much fun!
He's a Roman today,
it was really fun!
However, next year he might not be at the Tower of David,
as he's been in different locations for the past three years.
This is the third year,
and I think it's the best one yet.
And participation is free!
So grateful,
thank you! You JoJo,
so he's from the British Mandate period
(let's dance!)
(My husband) is watching so intently,
Bravo~
This event is really well-organized,
there are so many people now
because there will be a performance
later, and then today's event will be over.
What I find incredible is that just
two weeks ago there was fighting
, and now everyone is back, living
, and enjoying the moment.
I just met an Israeli friend
who said
that it's because Israelis have no choice;
they have to choose to survive
, they have to choose to live well.
It's not that they want to, but they have no other choice.
I think this is very profound
. It's true that when you're pushed to the brink,
to the limit,
you know that
today you can enjoy the moment,
enjoy your family,
cherish your family.
But this also explains
why Israelis
have such close relationships.
And our neighbors and
friends are so happy to see us.
It's like true friendship is revealed in times of trouble.
I really feel that every time
an Israeli friend asks me, "How are you?"
and I answer seriously ,
they really listen seriously.
It's not just superficial, like "How are you? I'm fine."
That doesn't count as really listening seriously.
Because they know
everyone has gone through a very difficult process
, I don't know when
Israel's tourism market will really open up.
But if everyone can come to Israel,
Israelis will really feel
your love for Israel.
That's what National Day celebrations are
all about . If you want to
participate in this kind of
open-air museum celebration next year,
check the Jerusalem City Government's official website.
Although the activities are all in Hebrew
, you can listen to music
and feel
the energy of the crowd
. You can also
look up some history at home first
and then come and figure out
which period this person might belong to
. I think that would be a lot of fun.
And the best part is that
everything is free.
Psalm 137:1-6:
"We sat down by the river of Babylon
and wept when we thought of Zion.
We hung our harps on the willows there
, because there our captors wanted us to sing, our plunderers
wanted us to make merry.
They said, 'Sing us a song of Zion!'
How can we sing the song of the Lord in foreign lands?
If I forget you,
Jerusalem, may
my right hand forget its skill.
If I do not remember you,
if I do not regard Jerusalem as my greatest joy
, may my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth."
