This content chronicles the extraordinary life and enduring faith of Sri K.R. David Aiya, detailing his journey from humble beginnings amidst hardship in colonial India to becoming a pivotal figure in the Pentecostal movement, marked by immense personal sacrifice, unwavering devotion, and significant spiritual impact.
There are some hard truths in history,
you may not believe them, but they are firm
truths. Those truths will guide you like stars in the sky. If
you walk on that path, you will
reach a higher destination. Will a ruby come from the soil? If you
look at human existence, God Jehovah
made Adam from the dust of the ground. He breathed his life into him and
made him a reflection of his glory. When he
sinned, he lost that glory. The
Son of God, Jesus Christ, came as Adam and by
his grace and glory,
transformed those who believed in him into saints. It was the
time of the First World War. While the whole of India was
suffering under the burden of slavery under the British Raj, the Hyderabad State
was under the care of the Nijasam. In those days,
Sri KR David
was born on March 25, 1917, the second son of Sri Kallepu Ramaiah Rajamanimma. Since it was the days of the First World War, the
people of that time
lived in poverty, fear, and hardship. In those
days, the American missionary The evangelism
movement began in the Nizam's kingdom.
Reverend Unru, Reverend Penner and Reverend
Charles Rutherford came to Janagama to spread the
gospel of God's love like a ray of light in the darkness.
Even then, Janagama was a big
business center. Now it has become a gospel center.
Missionaries set up tents outside the village and
started Prestin School to spread the love of God to the poor and the unfortunate with the gospel of the cross. Sri Ramaiah was a
farmer and he supported his family by farming. To
help in the evangelism service of the American Mission, Yoddanapudi
Yoddanapudi
Benjamin Kola Venkatayya Gandi Peda
Tirumalayya Kandula Ramaiah from Prakasam and Nellore districts were appointed in Warangal, Hanumakonda
Janagama, Secunderabad and Suryapet.
Among them, Yaddanapudi Benjamin Jannamma and his
wife came to Janagama and
spread the gospel in the surrounding villages. However,
David Aiya's father Ramaiah's father,
Benjamin, was very worried. Ramaiah While
ploughing the field, Benjamin was
ploughing Ramayya's heart. While
Ramayya was carrying the bundle, Benjamin was
drenched in the water of the Word, while Ramayya was
transformed and saved. Then his
name was renewed as a royal jewel. During that time,
Telangana was in a difficult period. The
rain was the main source of support for the lands of Telangana. Trusting in such lands,
Ramayya worked hard and
wanted to educate the children. He sold
them and bought cows because he thought that the herd of goats would interfere with the children's education.
Those seven rains did not
come and the crops that he thought would come were ruined. In the
difficult circumstances of just living in the world, Davidiah
Abrahamiah's studies began to falter. In those
circumstances, one year David Ayyayya
went to school, Abrahamiah had to
help his father Ramayya in farming. Another year, Davidiah's father stayed at home to
help Ramayya, but
Annagaru went to school.
Davidiah did not like this, so he had to
stay at home that year without telling his father. He
escaped and continued his education at Preston School,
slaughtering the missionaries' cows to pay the fees. At that
time, he
began to be called Cowboy David. His education in Janagama
ended. David
had a desire to serve the public through medicine because when he
got typhoid fever, his
parents' longing for their ministry. The
money they spent to get their son gave him hope for medicine. He
learned Ayurveda medicine and
started serving the people through it, but survival
became difficult. In Warangal, on the
advice of his brother-in-law, Kollur Abraham got him a
job as an inspector in the Warangal Municipality. He did
both these jobs,
but for some reason his mind was not calm. At the same
time, the
flames of the Pentecostal movement surrounded the city of Warangal. Baptist
leaders invited the apostles PM Samuel to
preach the word, and PL
Paranjyoti came to translate.
Through that ministry of the word, David was
captured by God. David Aiya received the Holy Spirit. David Aiya
received the Holy Spirit. The
anxiety that he was not like us
began among his relatives and parents. To
bring David Aiya out of this revival, Sri GB
Samuel came to Warangal and he was also
filled with the same spirit.
What happened to Paul at the Damascus Gate
happened to everyone who came to Warangal. In those days,
many from the Kothapalli family, including
Jonathan and Saramma garu,
received the Holy Spirit. Their eldest
daughter Leela
received the Holy Spirit while she was in the mission school. David Aiya
married them in a simple way.
Their marriage took place on March 15, 1940. While the apostles
apostles
were serving with PM Samuel garu, on
March 24, 1941, their first child, Grace, was
born. Two became three. Leelamma and the
young girls went to the
Pentecostal General Conference held in Islampet, Vijayawada, opposite Warangal. The
flames of life
engulfed Vijayawada. The speakers spoke in
English and Malayalam while
PL Paranjyothi
translated the sermon in Telugu. The
KRD, KJD and JD ministers
started the monthly magazine Suvartha Prakashini for PMS. In it,
David Aiya's testimony of salvation was published. In
Vijayawada, Aiya's service was in Udpet,
Governor's Peta, Israelpeta, Mogal
Rajapuram, Giripuram, Nizampeta, Bandarpeta. For six
months, he preached the gospel from house to house.
After that, Uyyur, Gandigunta, Kundera, Nepali
Kankipadu, this entire service was a scorching
walk. The hardships they and their families went through for the sake of this gospel were
indescribable. They thought that if
others knew about it, it would be an insult to God, so they
endured them and continued their service. At the same time,
time,
a person in the Warangal congregation
prophesied through the Holy Spirit that David Aiya's family was in need. The
community helped David Aiya. On the
other hand, the communists and
atheists tried to stop the service,
but they tolerated it and continued their
service. David Aiya and his
wife, Leelamma, were on leave at Pedda Aiya's house and came to
Tanguttur when a
bomb exploded and their daughter Grace, a one-
year-old baby, died. Some supported her, while others
others
ridiculed her. When they returned to Vijayawada, they attended Mopar meetings and came to Gandigunta. Leelamma's eyeball swelled and eventually burst, but they continued their service without giving up. Evangeline was born in Warangal on December 21, 1942. David Aiya Tenali spent four months in the service. The financial situation was not conducive to taking care of either the mother or the child. From there, they traveled
300 kilometers by road from her to Warangal
on their old bicycle with
worn-out tires. They
reached Warangal in a day and a half and took their mother to Warangal.
Seeing the child, they praised God.
On October 13, 1944, their son Thomas was born. The service
continued. Mahatma Gandhi's freedom
movement gained momentum. Similarly, the
flames of the Pentecostal movement flared up.
God was using David Aiya Garu strongly. The
elders came up with the idea of sending David Aiya Garu to Rajahmundry. The couple,
Leelamma and David Aiya, with two young children, said goodbye
to the Warangal community.
Those who had invited them did
not come to welcome them. In such
circumstances, they served while seeing the call of God. If
anyone knew the kindness and gave them anything, would their
hunger be satisfied? The couple
slowly came into this truth, one by one.
Dr. T. Yesudas Garu and
his daughter, Dr. Peters, supported this couple. In
Kovvur Malakapalli Peddevam Gootala Polavaram What is the
same? Many villages received the full gospel,
that is, the teaching of Pentecost. Many people
repented, received the baptism according to the word, and
received the Holy Spirit.
Obedience to God was very important. Obedience to their spiritual father and
leader was just that. Did David think that
on June 20, 1946, when Leelamma was in
severe pain, she was
admitted to Dr. Peters' hospital and the apostles brought P.M. Samuel's
son P. Abraham Samuel
from Bhimavaram and admitted him to Rajahmundry Training
College. Therefore, the last train should
go to Bhimavaram at 10 pm.
Then, at the Sub-Registrar's office there, The
working B.S. Luxon and his wife
welcomed them and on the 21st, they
took the TC from Bethanipet Mission School and reached Rajahmundry in the last van and
admitted Brother Abraham Samuel to the Training College. Then they went and
saw the baby Susan, who was half-born, and
glorified God. Brother David Aiya
entrusted his wife in danger to God and went and did
this work. Everyone who knew him was very angry because he did this work. Samuel
Samuel
Aiya, a servant of God, did the task entrusted to him responsibly.
In May 1947, 3000 houses in Rajahmundry were
burnt down in various places in a fire accident. David Aiyayya's family with
three young children in Danavayyapeta,
where should they go if Brother John was forced to vacate his house? They went to
a small house in Kambalapeta and
while they were packing their belongings, David
Aiyayya was struck by lightning. When Leelamma Garu
prayed, she calmed down. What is the glory of that house?
David Aiyayya's
mother and children were fasting continuously. They were devastated.
Four days after they arrived at the house, the
house was burned down. David and his wife,
Leelamma, and their
children ran away with all the belongings they had received. There were people who were worried that the house was burning. When the mob came and robbed them, they said, "Help me." Alas, what a tragedy. The fire brigade arrived and extinguished the fire. By the grace of God, everything around them burned except the hut where they were staying. They rushed back to the hut with their children.
That evening, a strong wind blew again, and the fire in the burnt
houses caught fire and
spread to other houses. This time, the
couple did not leave the house and
prayed hard. God sent a torrential rain to put out the
fire. In the morning, the
owners of the house needed their children and asked them to
vacate the house. Without saying another word,
the couple prayed with tears and,
inspired by the Lord, moved into the verandah of the first grade of the National School with their
children. With
the permission of the management, they wore clothes around them for six months. They built a
verandah and lived with their young children. While they
were living there,
God showed David Aya in a vision that he would give them
this land as their inheritance.
When he boldly moved forward, the management gave him a notice and asked him to
vacate immediately. What should he do? God's
promises. On one side, the
physical conditions were different. On the other side, they
found a room adjacent to an aluminum casting company. However, whenever its
furnace blew, the clothes and cooking utensils in that living room were
all filled with ashes.
David Aya and his wife lived a life of tolerance.
On August 15, 1947, India gained independence. They
believed that Jesus would give us freedom from such suffering. The couple
couple
held wonderful meetings in Rajahmundry on October 16, 17, and 18. New
souls were saved. While they were in this joy, their
five-year-old eldest daughter,
Evangeline Frack, caught fire and
burned to death. They stayed with the burnt child
day and night. The
broken eyeball of Leelamma was completely shattered. What is
this? Does God burn His devotees in a furnace of suffering?
According to verses five to seven of the first chapter of Peter,
great tribulations like fire are bound to occur.
occur.
David Ayyayya and his wife had to move house again. The
walls of the house were badly
damaged and ready to collapse.
Their situation was as if they had come out of the smoke into the fire. At that time,
worship services began every Sunday in Pasivedala. Worship services were held in Rajahmundry from 7:30 to 9:30 in the morning and
immediately they would
come to Pasivedala by train from Godavari station and conduct worship services. By the time
David Ayya returned to Rajahmundry, it
was already 1:00 in the night. The
train was late, but it was late. When her husband
went to work, Leelamma would spend
time praying with her three children. When
she prayed, tears would
flow. Are there mothers like this these days?
1948 has come in the Yugamulu Suvaratha Prakasani written by David Ayya The
meetings held in Rajahmundry in March were very spiritual. In those
meetings, the apostles PM Samuel said that he was
handing over the responsibility of the gospel to David Aya. The meeting erupted in great
joy. The attendees said that every time
God blessed this couple,
Satan would do them harm
again. The house burned down. This time, the people who
gave them the house were nominal Christians who were
enemies of the Pentecostal faith. They caused the David
Aya couple indescribable suffering. Many people advised them to leave this village and go. They told them to go to the place where there were a hundred believers. Leelamma took courage. They believed that God would protect them. God sent them to Rajahmundry. They said that they were ready to die in that service.
In the meantime, their second son,
Philip, was born as their fourth child. In the
meantime, God had promised that the
505-hectare land that was supposed to be a national school was built on
that site. A
temple was built in the palm leaf garden.
Gospel service, social service, organization
service, book service, all developed.
Leelamma got pregnant again and
gave birth to Ruth on June 25, 1950.
In 1951, the number of people coming to Rajahmundry meetings
increased. Godly people preached the word, souls were
saved, believers were
filled with the Spirit. On October 25, 1952,
Leelamma gave birth again. James
Jimmy was born. The couple had a lot of patience and
patience in family life. They had children and
raised them. In
January 1955, a
love feast was held with hundreds of believers. On January 2,
Joy was born. In addition to Grace, who had already died,
three daughters and four
sons were born. So far, God has helped them. They said they did
not want any more children. They
named her Ebenezer Joy.
A drama company was established in the Vemagiri and Dhavaleswaram areas.
They all heard the gospel and repented. They were
saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. A
good choir was formed for the church.
David Father himself played the violin, harmonium,
drums, and
went on the gospel pilgrimage. Kashi Peter and
others from that family, including T. Sampath Rao, Bulajan, Abraham
Kumarapu Lazar, Benjamin, Mariam,
Shantamma, Shiromani, Dinamma, and many other such
devotees came forward and a good meda house was
built. After Ebenezer Joy, if there were no children,
Daniel Bobby was born in a new house built five years later. On October 18, 1960, at that time,
a missionary presented a Royal Enfield bike to David Father. The
day after Bobby was born, he came home with that motorcycle. David Father
continued to travel on foot, on bullock carts, on bicycles, on trains, and on buses. Now, on the motorcycle given by God,
David Father John traveled from village to village, spreading the true gospel. This
man of God named Douglas came from America and
wanted to serve God through David Father.
In 1961, he went to Warangal district. An
orphanage and a free school for the poor were
opened in Jangaon. Thus the service continued even faster. The
borders of India
expanded. Leelamma got pregnant again and
on November 13, 1962, she gave birth to Leela Rachel Ammani. The
Divine Service Society was established. Gospel
meetings were held in many places. Thousands of people
came to David Ayyayya's meetings. Great
revival came in all the churches without any distinction of sect. The
denominational church that had once hated
David Ayyayya came to honor David Ayyayya. God blessed David Ayyayya and Leelamma with
another child, Steven.
On May 9, 1965, Leelamma fell asleep in the Lord.
Suddenly, the family, hundreds of
churches, relatives and friends were
immersed in mourning. Leelamma Garu accepted the call of
the Lord and went to Him without seeing the marriages of her children.
God strengthened David Ayyayya
Garu. The service developed greatly. The
marriages of her daughters and sons
were solemnized according to God's will. Philip Garu
Thomas Garu went to America. They were greatly
blessed when they
went abroad. In America, they were
praised as the Indian Billy Graham.
In 1974, Ivan was born as the last child of the mother whom God gave as a partner in place of Leelamma.
David Aya
performed the marriages of the 11 people whom God gave to them. They
saw them settle down as families. In the midst of many adversities and
opposition, he saw the call of God and
lived as a warrior of the cross until his last breath.
He realized that his calling was near and asked that Jimmy be buried. Thus, in God's time, on
December 23, 1992 at 5:30 am,
he entered into the eternal glory of God. He
fought the good fight, finished his race,
kept his faith, led thousands to God and made
hundreds of people into God's servants.
They went to God through their children and
through God's servants,
praise, honor,

I am Sri KR Devi Srimati Leelamma Garu,
Garu,
my eldest son. My name is Thomas Kalyan. I would like to share some experiences in my life.
When I was young, I was very hungry and thirsty.
Sometimes, even if there was nothing at home, if there was no rice, I would
cook rice, if there was rice, I would cook rice with
green broth. That's how our
lives passed.
Sometimes, even without that, I suffered for two or three
days by fasting. However,
my parents loved their children very much. They loved
God very much. They
endured all the hardships and
never gave up on God. Their goal was to serve God and
save others. They
worked hard for that. Another experience in my life was when
I was young.
My sister Grace, mother Evangeline Grace,
I used to pick the Gongura leaves there,
pray to them, eat them as our food, and
go to sleep hungry. Whenever I woke up, my
mother would always be on her knees and
pray at night. My
father would go to work. She was my
My father used to lead me in prayer. He used to carry a drum on his old bicycle, pour pheros in the Victor Marx light, hold it with one hand, and carry a Bible bag on his hand and go to serve. In this way, he would serve in the village and return home at midnight. Until then, my mother would pray.
How do I know? I would
wake up in my sleep sometimes and see her crying loudly and praying.
praying.
I would wake up in those
days. We moved houses many times with such difficulties. But
But
by the grace of God, they bought a place next to the National School. In
that place, they put a big drum in
it and
divided it into one third and made
a wall with mud on a grid. It was for two thirds worship and
one third for the family.
I, my sister, would spread a mat on the floor and
sleep like that.
Once our Susanna was born. The
little baby was a year and a half old and could not
bear the hunger. At that time, we
were living in Danawaypet. John In the
house of Alangai, the nepal trees behind the house were in
bloom. I took the nepal nuts and
ate them. I couldn't stand the dry ones. I crushed them and they
tasted like cashew nuts.
At that time, my sister Susan came and
asked if she wanted the nepal nuts too.
Both of them started vomiting and faced a very
dangerous situation. Susan was in a life-
threatening situation. However,
God saved us through prayers.
Even when we were young, my
father played the harmonium and the violin.
Every morning, when he woke up, he would
start the day with songs and prayers.
Again, in the evening, he would
pray before eating, but he would not eat.
eat.
Sometimes, when he was in a lot of trouble, my
father would sing a song. It
was in Malayalam. He said that
he himself translated that song into Telugu. When he
sang that song, all of our eyes,
especially my father's mother's eyes,
would water. I would sing each stanza. O
burden and rest in
mercy. [ Music]

Rain, your love
Heaven is my eternal abode. Heaven is my supreme destiny. Sometimes we
slept like that. In all the difficulties and sufferings,
God was never equal to God.
God was like that with those tears,
hunger and suffering.
Then the palm trees were cooked. Yesterday,
people came. Then they removed it and
built a sheet shed. It was filled with cement sheets. The
entire temple premises were filled with
people outside. Up to 300-400
believers used to come. Thus, the
service that began with those tears was blessed by God so much.
much.
Praise be to God. The
prayer of our parents and their
sacrifice became a great blessing for the entire family. The children
children
have grown up. Even though I still remember those difficulties,
God blessed me so much and
helped me go to America.
Growing up starving and destitute,
going to America was a great miracle.
Not only did I
go there alone, I went there with two suitcases,
but God blessed me the most.
He blessed me, He led me to a higher level than the Americans there. The
reason for that
is because of my mother's tearful prayer. God
blessed me so much. To that
God, to that great God, I give my heartfelt gratitude [
