This content introduces the concept of "Salpa" from ancient Indian wisdom as a more effective method for achieving personal goals than traditional New Year's resolutions, by aligning the subconscious mind with conscious intentions.

Today is January 2nd, 2026
and 20% [music] of you have already
broken your new year resolutions. We are
going to see how you can make new year
resolutions or resolutions in general
that actually stick in this particular
video. If you're new here, I am Baba and
I have been teaching meditation for more
than 35 years and I help people exactly
like you upspiral their lives through
the secrets of sleep, meditation,
spirituality and holistic success. In
this video, I will also be joined by Desh.
Desh.
In my last video last year
in 2025,
I told you some things to do before you
make new year resolutions.
Decluttering your mind, for example. Go
back and watch that video if you've not
watched it yet. You need to have a clean
foundation. You cannot build the
resolutions of 2026 on the rubble of 2025.
2025.
So I am assuming that you have already
done that. You have done the cleaning up
that is required and now we are here in
2026 doing a fresh start and figuring
out how to create resolutions that
stick. The ancient sages of India have
taught us that we do not make new year
resolutions. We make what is called a
salpa. They understood our brain and the
inner wiring of our system. You see the
mind has two parts to it. There is a
conscious mind and then there is a huge
subconscious mind and the conscious part
of the mind is just like 5 to 10%. Our
minds are like icebergs. Just 10% of
them which is visible on the surface is
our conscious mind is something that we
consciously decide. Like right now you
are consciously deciding to watch the
video but a humongous part of the mind
is not accessible to you the
subconscious part. And this is exactly
why resolutions fail because the
resolutions that you make are made from
the conscious parts of your mind. I will
not have sugar says the conscious part.
But 90% of the subconscious says hello
what's going on? Why should we not have
sugar? It is so tasty. It is so
comforting. What are you talking about?
And willpower will work for some time.
But you have got the force of 90%
against that thing that you have
decided. I will go to the gym four five
times a week. Conscious mind.
Subconscious says why? Why should we go
to the gym after working out? It pains.
Uh no no no no. And so again you are
trying to use your willpower. You are
trying to you know make sure that you
stick to your resolution. And it is so difficult
difficult
because you have not aligned your
subconscious to your conscious. You have
not aligned
a huge part of the decision making people
people
in your inside to go with what you want.
I will tell you one little secret about
the subconscious mind. It does not
understand negative statements.
I will not eat sugar. It does not
understand. It only understands sugar
and it will take you towards sugar. Have
you noticed that you know maybe you were
learning how to ride a bicycle recently?
While I was playing the piano, I was
playing a tough piece and what happened
was as I came to a very difficult part,
I was going I should not make this
mistake. I should not make the mistake.
I should not and I made the mistake. The
subconscious somehow doesn't understand
the instruction don't. It only catches
the rest of it. There is that very
famous story of you know two kids were
playing in the tree and there was a huge
gust of wind and one parent shouts don't
let go and the other parent shouts hold
on and the parent whose kid was told
don't let go let go because the
subconscious does not hear the don't. I
don't want to be lazy.
Finished. You are going to be lazy. I
will not get angry. That's it. You have
The subconscious does not understand
negative. The ancient sages of India,
they came up with the idea of a way to
make a new year resolution or any
resolution for that matter. And they
called it a salulpa. And a sulpa is a
brilliant way to bring that 90% of the
subconscious onto your side. So that
what you want consciously actually
starts manifesting in your life. But
what exactly is a sulpa and how to make
a salpa? D is going to tell you right
now. I am DH. Welcome to Baba Dh TV. It
is saidishi
versusi the way you see things that is
how you will shape reality. So your
salpa will not only shape the brain as
neuroscience now tells us it will shape
the reality around you the world around
you your life.
So in Sanskrit it saysamati
the way you feel if you feel yes I am
healthy that is the kind of reality that
will manifest around you so the salpa
inherently has intention and your
attention as I said it's like sewing a
seed in our fertile consciousness now
when you sew a seed you don't keep uh
digging every other day and saying oh is
it growing is it growing is it growing
No, you just sew the seed and you give
attention to it. You water it. Yeah. So
similarly keep the salpa and you work
towards it and it has to manifest.
But start with I am that I am healthy. I
am happy. The purity and the power with
which you take the salpa will ensure how
quickly and how gloriously your sulpa
manifests. There is quite a fine line
between an affirmation or a resolution
and a salpa. For example, you may have a salpa,
salpa,
I am fit and healthy.
It's like sewing the seed of being fit
and healthy into the consciousness.
As DH said, you have to put your
attention to it. Meaning, you need to
work towards it. You need to be a fit,
healthy person right now.
And that could mean saying no to a late
night snack because you are a fit
healthy person. Remember that is your
identity. Now
a salpa is definitely not something that
you keep repeating all the time
right think of it like you are in
Bangalore and you want to go to say puna
and you're driving.
So you're driving and you're going I'm
going to puna. I have to go to puna. I
have to get to puna puna puna puna. If
you do that, you are most probably going
to land up in some mental hospital.
What does the salpa mean? It means I
have it in the back of my head that I am
going to puna. Now I do the other
things. I drive. I enjoy my drive.
Right? And when there is an intersection
where I have to decide whether I have to
go right or left at that point I think
oh yes puna so I will take the right
in the exact same way when you have
taken the salpa say of being healthy and fit
fit
and the choice is there do I go to the
gym or do I sleep another 45 minutes it
is easy to take that decision to get out
of bed and go to the gym when the
decision comes Should I eat that
delicious gooey super calorie chocolate
pastry or should I not? But if you are a
fit, healthy person, maybe you have just
one bite, not the entire cake.
Do you see what I'm saying? This is the
difference between a salulpa and
affirmation and how to manifest it.
It is said that by January 15th more
than 80% of the new year resolutions
that people make have been broken.
Using the technique of salpa, I am
pretty sure the new year resolutions
that you are now going to make
especially after cleaning up that
[music] foundation which we talked about
in the previous video last year. DH and
I would love to know your Sulpas [music]
for 2026.
Please put them in the comments and I
will read them. And a happy happy new
year to all of you. My salpa for you.
May you be healthy. May you be happy.
[music] May you have wisdom and may you
