0:08 we open the Word of God to 150 Vande I'm
0:11 beginning at verse 16 and we'll read
0:19 through verse 23 Psalm 105 verses 16
0:26 through 23 speaking about our Lord
0:29 moreover he called for a famine upon the
0:34 land that's of course the land of Egypt
0:39 he broke the whole staff of bread he
0:43 sent a man before them that man happened
0:47 to be 17 years old when God sent him
0:50 even Joseph who was sold for a servant
0:53 whose feet they hurt with fetters he
0:58 would laid in iron until the time that
1:04 his word came the word of the Lord
1:09 tested him the king sent and loosed him
1:11 even the ruler of the people and let him
1:14 go free he made him Lord of his house
1:18 and ruler of all his substance to bind
1:22 his Prince's at his pleasure and to
1:28 teach his elders wisdom Israel also came
1:32 into Egypt and Jacob sojourned in the
1:40 land of ham and so the psalmist gives us
1:44 8 verses to tell us the story of Joseph
1:50 in the book of Genesis Moses took 419
1:55 verses to tell us the story of Joseph
1:57 Joseph is one of the greatest and most
2:02 famous prisoners of all history I once
2:06 had to testify at a child custody
2:09 hearing it so happened that the father
2:13 in the case had been in prison
2:15 but had gotten saved I believe genuinely
2:18 born-again he was doing his utmost with
2:21 the Lord's help to live a good life and
2:23 I recall sitting on that witness stand
2:25 and the attorney on the other side
2:30 looked at me and said Reverend do you
2:34 believe that you could trust a man who
2:39 was a prisoner and no one told me you're
2:47 and I said will sir many great men have
2:49 been prisoners now begin to tick them
2:56 off John Bunyan and add my room Judson
3:02 and Joseph and Jesus and at that point I
3:08 heard answer the question and I
3:11 understood why Jesus said woe unto you lawyers
3:19 now you all know the story of Joseph you
3:23 learned it in Sunday school the first 17
3:26 years of his life he was a pampered son
3:31 his aged father Jacob was ruining the
3:35 boy by pampering him separating him from
3:37 the rest of his brethren and making him
3:38 somebody special
3:42 and then his brethren who hated him sold
3:45 him as a slave and for 10 years in Egypt
3:49 he was a faithful servant and then
3:52 because of a lying woman he ended up in
3:56 prison for three years and at the age of
3:58 30 Joseph was exalted to be the second
4:00 ruler of the land now all of this is
4:04 wrapped up in these few verses in Psalm
4:08 105 but from these verses and from the
4:13 life of Joseph we can learn at least
4:16 four if not more but at least four very
4:18 practical lessons to help us in our own
4:24 daily living lesson number one God has
4:28 his purposes now Joseph didn't
4:32 understand these purposes his brothers
4:35 didn't understand them what they did
4:37 they did because they were envious of
4:40 him Joseph himself later said you meant
4:42 it for evil but God meant it for good
4:46 Joseph is one man in the Old Testament
4:50 who lived in Romans 8:28 and we know
4:52 that all things are working together for
4:55 good to them that love God to them who
4:57 are the called according to his purpose
5:01 now God has a number of purposes wrapped
5:03 up in the life of Joseph for one thing
5:06 he wanted to make a man that's the way
5:08 God always operates he chooses a man
5:11 chooses a woman and then he works in
5:14 that person's life I've been a student
5:16 of Christian biography for many years
5:19 have some old five or six hundred
5:22 volumes of Christian biography in my
5:24 library and I've noticed this when God
5:25 wants to do
5:29 a work he called the worker and then God
5:33 works on the worker and having worked on
5:36 the worker he gets him or her where that
5:38 person ought to be then comes the work
5:41 and so God has his purposes his first
5:46 purpose was to build a man had Joseph
5:49 been left in the hands of his pampering
5:51 father Jacob Joseph would have ended up
5:54 without it much character without much
6:00 ministry humanly speaking and so God had
6:02 to arrange a rather devious way a rather
6:06 circuitous way to get Joseph out from
6:12 leadership and put him where life was
6:15 difficult God wanted to make a man it's
6:17 rather interesting that when the story
6:19 comes to an end
6:25 Joseph stands there the greatest type of
6:28 Jesus Christ anywhere in the Old
6:34 Testament Joseph was a beautiful picture
6:36 of our Lord Jesus that's what Romans
6:39 8:28 and 29 are all about who are called
6:41 according to his purpose now what is his
6:44 purpose that we might be conformed to
6:49 the image of his son and so God has his
6:51 purposes and his first purpose is to
6:52 build our lives
6:55 you see when difficulties come and they
6:59 do when there are trials and problems
7:03 family problems economic problem job
7:07 problems when difficulties come they
7:11 will either be weapons to beat us down
7:17 or tools to build us up so God has his
7:19 purposes and his first purpose was to
7:22 build the man his second purpose was to
7:28 build a nation you see Israel was made
7:32 up of Jacob and his sons and their
7:35 families it was kind of a motley crew of
7:39 people there were there were inter inter fan
7:39 fan
7:41 Emily Fighting's you've never had that
7:43 experience but they did there were
7:46 difficulties and God was looking at
7:48 those people and saying I want to build
7:50 a nation out of you know how do you do it
7:51 it
7:54 well you write a constitution you elect
7:58 some officers no one day he had to pick
8:02 up that family took 70 people and moved
8:05 him down to Egypt and for some time they
8:08 prospered and then they were persecuted
8:13 and God sent a man before them Joseph
8:17 that that nation might be built in the
8:20 land of Egypt had it not been for Joseph
8:22 there would not have been the nation of
8:27 Israel and got hit a third purpose he
8:31 built a man who helped to build a nation
8:35 and through that nation God could save a
8:40 world that's what Israel is all about to
8:43 begin with when you read the book of
8:45 Genesis as you find all of the Gentiles
8:48 falling to pieces those of us who are
8:51 not of Jewish ancestry have to hang our
8:53 heads in shame when we read the book of
8:56 Genesis because God started off with
9:00 Gentiles Gentiles made a mess of things
9:02 God wiped everything clean started off
9:06 again and then men began to rebel
9:10 against God they built that the Tower of
9:13 Babel and God said we can't have this
9:15 and he scattered everybody they said
9:17 we're gonna make a name for ourselves
9:21 that sounds just like the Gentiles and
9:23 then God calls Abraham and God says to
9:25 Abraham I'm gonna make a great name for
9:28 you this crowd back here wanted to make
9:31 a great name for themselves but Abraham
9:32 I'm gonna make your name great and
9:36 through you all of the nations of the
9:38 earth are going to be blessed and so God
9:41 called Abraham and then Isaac and then
9:45 Jacob and now 70 people now a nation and
9:49 through this nation Jesus was born God
9:51 has his purposes now God has his
9:53 purposes for my
10:01 for your life he wants to build a person
10:11 spirituality courage faithfulness
10:16 honesty dependability he wants to build
10:21 a person then having built that person
10:25 he wants to reach out and save a world
10:29 God has his purposes and so you and I
10:31 never have to look up to heaven and say
10:33 father are you sure you know what you're
10:36 doing you didn't consult with me on this
10:41 I didn't fill out any application forms
10:44 for this place I'm in and the father
10:46 looks down and says well you know what I
10:48 made the whole universe without your help
10:48 help
10:52 I didn't have to call any consultation
10:56 with you I know what I'm doing God has
11:02 his purposes you say even when my own
11:06 brethren give me trouble yes even when
11:08 people lie about me yeah
11:11 even when I'm going through prison yes
11:14 God has his purposes that's the first
11:17 lesson now the second lesson that Joseph
11:23 teaches us is this God has his methods
11:27 I think it's Isaiah the prophet who says
11:29 now my ways are not your ways my
11:32 thoughts are not your thoughts my
11:34 thoughts are much higher than yours my
11:37 ways are much more profound than yours
11:42 as I read my Bible I discover that that
11:44 God doesn't do things the way I would
11:46 have done it and it's a good thing I
11:49 would have made a mess out of it the
11:51 Jewish people cried out and said we're
11:53 hungry we need something to eat
11:56 and so God very graciously very
12:00 generously every morning early sent down
12:03 the manna first the dew would arrive to
12:04 keep the manna clean
12:06 and then the little round wafers of
12:11 angel food cake would fall down to feed
12:13 the nation of Israel I wouldn't have fed
12:16 that bunch of rebels that way I would
12:21 have made one huge loaf of bread and
12:23 dropped it right in the middle of the
12:31 camp but God's ways are not my ways when
12:33 God wanted to deliver the people of
12:36 Israel from the land of Egypt he said a
12:41 baby he had he had a Jewish boy fall in
12:43 love with a Jewish girl and and they
12:45 said you know we really shouldn't get
12:47 married because we have any boy babies
12:49 they'll kill him they said let's do
12:52 God's will and she did give birth to a
12:53 baby I wouldn't have done it that way I
12:56 would have brought down an army I would
12:58 have fixed him but God has better
13:01 methods and God has his methods with
13:05 Joseph now now here is a 17 year old boy
13:10 who's having dreams not because he ate
13:14 too much pizza before he went to bed
13:16 Joseph went to bed and the only way God
13:18 could talk to people in those days or
13:20 one of the few ways was through dreams
13:23 and he was dreaming and he saw the
13:26 sheaves of his father and his brethren
13:28 bow down to his sheaf God was saying
13:31 Joseph someday you're gonna be a ruler
13:34 and Joseph went and told his brethren
13:39 the good news and they frowned and said
13:42 this blabbermouth then he had another
13:44 dream the Sun the Moon the Stars bowed
13:46 down to him that was going too far that
13:49 was lifting it to a much higher plane
13:52 they said oh no and that's when they
13:55 decided they were going to kill him now
14:00 Joseph was a dreamer and Joseph was a
14:02 young man the Bible says there's nothing
14:05 wrong with dreaming Thoreau used to say
14:06 and this is one of the few things he
14:08 said that's worth remembering
14:11 Thoreau said that it's good to build
14:13 your castles in the air but put a
14:17 foundation under them mr. moody used to
14:18 say that
14:19 some people are so heavenly minded
14:23 they're no earthly good Joseph wasn't
14:25 like that Joseph heard from God and God
14:27 said Joseph you're gonna be a ruler
14:29 you're going to be a ruler I can't do it
14:31 I'm Johnny I'm just a young boy
14:33 seventeen years old
14:36 my father's pampering me you see dreams
14:38 without disciplines become nightmares
14:44 and God had to translate Joseph's dreams
14:48 into reality and he had three methods
14:50 that are used for doing it three
14:53 disciplines that he used number one was
14:56 the discipline of service Joseph wasn't
14:59 doing much work at home his father gave
15:02 him a very special tailored garment
15:05 Shepherd's don't wear special tailored
15:07 garments when you're working around with
15:09 dirty animals you don't dress as though
15:12 you're going to visit the Queen and
15:15 Joseph was somewhat pampered and Joseph
15:21 was somewhat of a special person and the
15:22 first thing God did was make him a
15:27 servant you know why you can't become a
15:29 ruler until first you're a servant
15:32 that's God's principle well done thou
15:35 good and faithful servant thou has been
15:37 faithful over a few things I'll make
15:40 thee ruler over many things and God said
15:43 to Joseph I can't trust you on the
15:46 throne until I can trust you there in
15:49 the pantry I can't trust you with a
15:51 scepter in your hand until first I can
15:56 trust with a broom in your hand this
15:58 principle works all through the Bible
16:01 God couldn't make Moses a ruler until
16:04 Moses was first a servant Nehemiah was
16:08 first a servant than a ruler my Lord
16:10 Jesus Christ when he came to this earth
16:15 came as a servant and now he is exalted
16:19 above every name as the ruler in God's
16:21 first method was the discipline of
16:25 service if Joseph is going to give
16:27 orders he has to learn how to take
16:31 orders if Joseph is going to share
16:33 honor he has to learn how to accept
16:36 humility if Joseph is going to exercise
16:40 authority he has to be under authority
16:43 when a person exercises Authority but
16:46 he's not under Authority he's a dictator
16:51 not a ruler the discipline of service
16:56 well he passed that he God blessed him
16:58 in such a wonderful way that that
17:01 Potiphar just gave him everything gave
17:02 him all the credit cards all the bank
17:06 books everything and Joseph was a
17:08 faithful servant
17:10 then came discipline number two the
17:15 discipline of self-control God permitted
17:18 Joseph to be tempted the story of course
17:22 is given in Genesis chapter 39 were
17:26 Potiphar's wife tempted him day after
17:29 day and Joseph could have done like some
17:31 young man do he'd say well I'm away from
17:35 home and they'll never know what I do he
17:36 didn't say that
17:38 or he could have said well one when in
17:42 Egypt do with the Egyptians do when in
17:45 Rome do what the Romans do
17:51 he didn't say then he didn't say well we
17:53 can do it secretly and nobody will know
17:57 you know what he said how can I commit
18:01 this sin before God my father's not
18:03 watching me he's far away and thinks I'm
18:06 dead my brothers aren't watching me they
18:08 think I'm dead your husband's not
18:10 watching and the police aren't watching
18:13 and the place is not bugged but God's
18:18 watching and one day she got so
18:22 desperate she lunged at him and she got
18:25 his coke and he did the smart thing he's
18:29 took off his cold and he ran one of the
18:31 old Puritan preacher says Joseph lost
18:35 his coat but he kept his character Paul
18:37 May had been thinking of this when he
18:40 wrote to young Timothy flee youthful lusts
18:48 the discipline of self-control he made
18:52 no provision for the flesh and he passed
18:55 that but ended up in jail
18:58 Potiphar must have suspected something
19:00 was wrong with this story or would have
19:01 had him killed
19:02 he ended up there where the political
19:05 prisoners ended up and he gets in jail
19:06 and before long he's the assistant
19:12 jailer unofficial of course and down
19:16 there in that Egyptian prison they put
19:22 him in irons and I can see Joseph he
19:24 spent three years as a prisoner I can
19:27 just see him during those first months
19:28 saying old God what's happened to my
19:32 dreams you told me I'd be a ruler here
19:36 look what I am I'll never make it now
19:40 I'm a prisoner and I've lost my
19:42 reputation I've kept my character but
19:44 I've lost my reputation I'll never make
19:48 it God said no you're gonna make it just
19:50 be patient about that time he met the
19:53 butler and the Baker remember they had
19:55 dreams too and he interpreted those
20:00 dreams for them and lo and behold they
20:04 came true and you'd think that the the
20:07 that the that the butler would have
20:12 remembered he did he forgot until
20:16 Pharaoh began to dream and then Joseph
20:18 was delivered and so there was the
20:21 discipline of suffering the discipline
20:26 of service the discipline of
20:30 self-control the discipline of suffering
20:33 God has his methods
20:39 now Joseph teaches us a third lesson God
20:44 has his times the psalmist says he sent
20:47 a man before them god knows what he's doing
20:48 doing
20:51 whose feet they hurt with fetters he was
20:55 laid in iron on till
20:59 the time that God's Word came during
21:02 that waiting period the word of the Lord
21:06 tested him God has his times now we
21:09 don't have to go into it but this begins
21:13 all the way back with with Abraham back
21:15 in Genesis chapter 15 when God spoke to
21:18 Abraham he gave Abraham a timetable
21:20 he said now your seed are going to go
21:23 into a land that's not theirs there's
21:25 going to be a period of 400 years
21:28 there's going to be suffering and he
21:30 said then they're going to come out with
21:33 great spoil and great victory for the
21:37 iniquity of the ammonites is not yet
21:39 full it was God watching God was
21:43 watching two things the timing of the
21:50 birth of Joseph the timing of the
21:56 judgment of the nations in Canaan God in
21:59 His grace was giving those people in
22:04 Canaan land century after century of
22:13 patience withholding his judgment that's
22:15 why the Lord Jesus Christ hasn't
22:17 returned yet
22:20 because God is long-suffering to us-ward
22:23 not willing that any should perish but
22:26 that all should come to repentance so
22:29 God had his time and God looked at the
22:32 17-year old lad and said well let's see
22:34 seven it's gonna take us thirteen years
22:36 to get this job done now if he told
22:40 Joseph thirteen years from now you're
22:43 going to be a man a man of God and a man
22:45 of authority Joseph would have said
22:53 thirteen year Wow I'll never make it
22:55 well if you had to live a year at a time
22:59 you never would make it but it was a day
23:01 at a time a day at a time the only way
23:04 you can live the only way I can live I
23:06 think I've told you about my pastor
23:08 friend in northern can
23:11 Chucky's whose wife died and the church
23:15 graciously hired a lady to come into the
23:19 house the past aureum the parsonage and
23:25 clean it once a week and one day my
23:27 friend was talking to this lady and
23:29 saying well how are you today oh she
23:31 said brother Munroe
23:39 the trouble with life is it so daily but
23:41 the more I ponder that the more sense it
23:44 makes I'm glad life is daily can't live
23:48 two days at a time God has his times and
23:51 God works out his schedule a day at a
23:55 time and if Joseph is faithful today
23:58 he's that much closer to the will of God tomorrow
23:59 tomorrow
24:03 now the butler it only took three days
24:05 for the butler's dream to be fulfilled
24:07 the people out in the world there's no
24:10 schedule there but for God's people it
24:12 takes time God can God can grow
24:15 poison-ivy overnight God can grow
24:17 mushrooms overnight but when he wants to
24:20 build himself a sturdy oak that takes
24:25 some time some of you students are gonna
24:28 get to a certain point in your
24:30 preparation for the ministry when
24:32 someone's going to make a big mistake
24:35 and tell you how good you are what are
24:37 you doing sitting in school you ought to
24:41 be out preaching the world needs you
24:42 well the world's been waiting a long
24:46 time for you to come along and you're
24:49 going to be tempted to interrupt God's
24:53 preparation for your life don't do it
24:56 don't do it
24:58 being a good student is as much a
25:09 preparation for ministry is ministry now
25:12 Joseph could have finagled his way in
25:14 and out of things Joseph could have said
25:17 Lord you're delaying too long let me get
25:19 a hold of this for a while we're always doing
25:25 when the elsens and my wife and i went
25:27 to africa to minister a couple of years
25:31 ago we walked into the guest house there
25:34 in nairobi the a.i.m guest house and
25:36 there on the bulletin board was a sign I
25:39 cannot forget it says lord give me
25:48 patience and do it now God has his times
25:52 would you think me to be strange if I
25:56 told you I don't want to know what's
25:59 going to happen next week the jury Dan
26:01 Landers the other day I'm I never cease
26:07 to marvel at the letter she gets the
26:09 lady wrote to her and said I went to a
26:11 fortune-teller that's the first dumb
26:13 thing second dumb thing was to write and
26:16 tell people about it I went to a
26:19 fortune-teller and she told me and she
26:21 just unraveled a whole long list of
26:24 tragedies she said I can't sleep at
26:25 night what should I do
26:28 and Ann Landers gave her the only sane
26:30 answer anybody could give her don't
26:32 believe in fortune tellers if that woman
26:34 could foretell the future she wouldn't
26:37 be collecting 10 bucks a head she'd been
26:41 wall street I have to chuckle when I
26:43 read in the newspapers about a police
26:46 about policemen who arrest fortune
26:50 tellers how come they didn't know they
27:01 I don't want to know the future I go
27:03 along with Joseph Parker we'll wrote
27:05 that beautiful hymn that ought to be put
27:09 back in our hymn book God holds the key
27:16 of all unknown and I'm glad for if some
27:19 other held the key or if he trusted it
27:23 to me I might be sad you say well I just
27:24 can't wait
27:30 Joseph waited 13 years God has his
27:36 purposes God has his methods and God has
27:41 his time there's a fourth lesson God has
27:48 his resources what is going to keep us
27:53 going while we're waiting I confess to
27:55 you and my friends know it my family
27:59 knows it I get impatient
28:03 I have lost my sanctification on damned
28:09 lie and more than one I know where I
28:11 want to go and I know what I want to do
28:14 and I want to get it done and I think
28:16 that's one reason the Lord has me going
28:19 all over to and fro upon the earth
28:21 because nothing can try your patience
28:28 like the airlines God has his resources
28:32 now what resources do we draw upon while
28:35 God's making us while we're suffering
28:40 while we're serving what resources do we
28:43 draw up on while we're being tempted
28:46 well let's look at them in Psalm 105 he
28:48 tells us first of all the Word of God
28:53 until the time that his word came the
28:55 word of the Lord tested him now Joseph
28:59 got his word through dreams I wouldn't
29:03 trust that today if I were you every
29:05 once well in my travels I meet someone
29:07 with a rather
29:10 strange look in his eye who says God
29:13 speaks to me and dream and I want to
29:18 back off and say well God doesn't speak
29:22 to me in dreams and God doesn't speak to
29:26 me in visions I don't hear voices all I
29:29 have to do is just open my Bible when I
29:32 opened my Bible God opens his mouth God
29:35 talks to me the first resource that
29:40 Joseph had was the promise of God while
29:44 he was in Potiphar's house serving here
29:46 he is scrubbing the floor and the devil
29:51 says Joseph Joseph remember those dreams
29:55 about being a ruler everybody bowing
30:00 down now who's on his knees and Joseph
30:02 said God promised that and I'm gonna
30:04 believe that even though I can't see it
30:08 that's the first resource the promise of
30:11 God that's why it's important for you to
30:13 read your Bible that's why it's
30:15 important to mark the promises of God
30:18 that's why it's important to saturate
30:20 our souls with the Word of God because
30:24 this is our first resource as God is
30:27 working in our lives the promise of God
30:31 now he had a second resource that's the
30:34 presence of God over in Genesis chapter
30:37 39 and you can check it out at your
30:42 leisure in Genesis chapter 39 over and
30:44 over again it says the Lord was with
30:47 Joseph Potter far discovered the Lord
30:50 was with Joseph they did this to him but
30:52 the Lord was with Joseph
30:58 I love the Gospel of Matthew I I think
31:00 it's probably the favorite gospel in my
31:03 own life I know many people like John
31:05 that's perfectly alright but I like when
31:07 I when I walk into the Gospel of Matthew
31:14 it says his name is Emmanuel God with us
31:17 out of the Gospel of Matthew it says lo
31:18 I am with
31:22 always so at the beginning of that book
31:25 Emmanuelle God with us at the end of
31:27 that book law I'm with you always but
31:28 you're leaving I'm with you always
31:30 you're going to heaven I'm with you
31:37 always when Joseph was on that forced
31:42 march with the Ishmaelites going down to
31:44 Egypt where he was a slave God was with
31:51 him when they were buying the slaves and
31:53 Potiphar came along and said I could use
31:57 a nice young man in my home God was with
32:03 him when he was being tempted with the
32:05 kind of temptations that would have made
32:09 others to fall God was with him when
32:11 they shoved him in prison and put his
32:15 feet in irons God was with him
32:21 the presence of God there's a third
32:26 resource that Joseph had and I think we
32:33 need this today the grace of God in his
32:34 heart you say what are you where do you
32:42 find that you just listen if your
32:46 brothers had treated you or your sisters
32:49 had treated you the way they treated
32:54 Joseph what would you do what would you
32:57 do I think I know what I might have done
33:00 all the way down to Egypt I'd be saying
33:03 to myself those brothers of mine I'll
33:13 let him that thinks he stands take heed
33:18 lest he fall scrubbing the floor and
33:20 cleaning off the the garbage and
33:23 everything I wouldn't be here if it
33:28 weren't for those brothers of mine but
33:31 Joseph didn't have that attitude
33:34 Joseph had the beautiful gift of the
33:38 grace of God to be able to look at the
33:43 past and leave it with God he carried no
33:47 malice he did not have any hardness of
33:51 heart he had no desire for reeve an and
33:54 when he did see his brothers he broke
33:57 down and wept he knew he couldn't
34:00 forgive them until they were forgivable
34:02 that's why he put them through all those
34:06 tests but all what a joyful occasion it
34:08 was when finally he could say I am
34:10 Joseph and they were scared I would have
34:14 been scared too here is this man with
34:16 all of this Authority all Joseph's had
34:27 you see the test of a person's real
34:35 character is how he treats those who
34:39 have heard him over whom he has
34:45 Authority that's a test and when Joseph
34:48 saw his brothers the past just flooded
34:50 into his heart and mind and the devil
34:52 was there the devil said there they are
34:58 there they are you've got him now and
35:02 God's grace said to Joseph they meant it
35:08 for evil but God meant it for good and
35:18 that's a beautiful grace what are our
35:20 resources as we're going through the
35:23 difficulties of life well the promises
35:25 of God the Word of God it won't change
35:30 the presence of God the grace of God and
35:33 especially that marvelous grace of
35:37 forgiveness to be able to look back and
35:42 say I can see it now you're forgiven
35:50 I forgive you we read the Old Testament
35:51 in the same ayah wonderful God's doing
35:56 things like that today yes he is did you
35:59 know that when Jesus comes back and I am
36:02 raptured up to heaven with all the rest
36:04 of God's people and I I stand before the
36:08 Lord Jesus he's not going to be
36:10 interested in in how many books I wrote
36:22 this right now is the 33rd sermon I've
36:26 preached in three weeks there's nothing
36:30 to impress him he's going to say to me
36:32 all of this you've done all of this
36:34 you've been through difficulties
36:36 blessings responsibilities what has it
36:40 done for your character are you standing
36:48 before me more like the Lord Jesus God
36:51 is still building people God has his
36:54 purposes you don't know them I don't
37:04 during World War two when the Blitz in
37:08 London became so severe they decided to
37:12 evacuate the children and the stories
37:14 told of a group of children who were
37:16 standing at a railroad station waiting
37:19 for the Train and a girl was standing
37:20 with her little brother and the little
37:23 boy was crying I think I would have been
37:27 crying too and she said why are you
37:29 crying he said I don't know where we're
37:34 going and she put her arm around him and
37:42 said well don't cry the King knows that
37:46 was right there sometimes when I get to
37:48 whimpering and I say Lord I don't know
37:50 where I'm going
37:54 and the answer comes from heaven the
38:01 King knows God has his purposes God has
38:05 his methods and God has his time and God
38:10 has his resources and knowing that we
38:16 can face anything because God will never
38:23 fail thank you Father
38:30 that there is no prison that can hinder
38:33 the working out of your purposes there's
38:38 no person who can hinder it there is no
38:42 circumstance that is so unchanging or
38:46 unchangeable that your purposes will be
38:51 thwarted we present ourselves to you Father
38:53 Father
38:56 you have your purposes work them out in
39:01 our lives we are not handing you a
39:04 contract to sign we are handing you a
39:06 blank piece of paper that we have
39:10 already signed you write the contract
39:14 fulfill your purposes and use whatever
39:17 methods are best for us even if they
39:21 hurt for we know that though you may
39:29 Father give us patience with your
39:32 schedule remind us that your delays are
39:41 not denials or defeats and most of all
39:43 father help us to drop on the spiritual
39:47 resources we have in the Word of God and
39:49 prayer and the grace of God and the
39:56 presence of God that one day you might
40:00 be able to put us
40:06 in that place prepared for us and for
40:11 which we have been prepared may we not
40:15 settle for anything less may we do your
40:21 will and enjoy it and fulfill it for
