hackers are constantly finding new ways
to access your phone and steal your data
but don't worry protecting your phone
doesn't have to be complicated in this
video we'll walk you through the
essential steps to keep your device safe
from
hackers hi everyone Ron from CTO here so
if you're concerned about hackers
targeting your phone you're not alone
with so much of our personal information
stored on these devices it's more
important than ever to make sure they're
protect
so today we'll go over the most common
ways hackers can Target your phone and
more importantly what you can do to
protect yourself so let's dive
in now before we get into the protection
steps let's first quickly look at how
hackers typically Target cell phones one
of the most common ways hackers try to
get into your phone is through fishing
messages either by email text or social
media and these messages look like
they're from trusted sources but contain
malicious links designed to steal your
login details or infect your device with
malware hackers can also Target you
through malicious apps you see
downloading a compromised app can give
hackers backd door access allowing them
to steal data and gain complete control
of your phone in addition someone you
know could secretly install a spy app
directly on your device giving them
access to your private information
without your knowledge now a more
Advanced tactic used by hackers involves
zero day vulnerabilities these are
unknown software flaws that haven't yet
been patched by developers hackers can
take advantage of these security gaps to
compromise your phone before a fix is
available for example spyware like
Pegasus can be installed without any
user interaction through these
vulnerabilities so we've covered how
someone might hack your phone and it's
pretty scary but what should you do to
protect your yourself here are nine
simple but effective steps to keep your
device secure so up first is really the
simplest security practice of them all
which is restarting your phone regularly
you see many hackers rely on your phone
being switched on for extended periods
to maintain access or control restarting
can disrupt malicious apps and in some
cases remove system modifications used
by hackers like jailbreaks this is
especially true for iPhones where a
restart can stop many form of monitoring
or malicious
activity up next always keep your
phone's operating system up to date
software updates often include important
security patches that fix
vulnerabilities hackers can exploit
don't ignore those update reminders
they're critical for your phone safety
now if you're not a developer it's a
really good idea to disable developer
mode on your phone this feature unlocks
Advanced system functions that hackers
can exploit when developer mode is
enabled it opens up additional ways for
malware to interact with your device by
keeping it off you reduce your exposure
to these
vulnerabilities in addition always
protect your phone with a strong
passcode pin or biometric lock like
fingerprints or face ID you see this
prevents unauthorized access if someone
gets a hold of your phone make sure your
password is something secure use at
least eight characters and don't choose
something that's easily guessable like
your birthday day up next enable
two-factor authentication for your cloud
storage accounts such as iCloud or
Google drive this adds an extra layer of
protection to any data synced from your
phone like contacts photos and backups
even if someone gains access to your
login details two Factor requires an
additional code sent to your phone
making it much harder for hackers to get
in while jailbreaking or rooting your
phone may give you more customization
options well it also makes your device
much more vulnerable to attacks by
removing built-in security features you
open the door to malware and make it
easier for hackers to exploit your phone
trust me it's just not worth the risk be
cautious about the apps you download
stick to trusted sources like the Apple
App Store or Google Play and always
check reviews to make sure the app is
legitimate and if an app seems too good
to be true or it's asking for
Unnecessary permissions think twice
before installing it installing a
reputable mobile security app can help
you regularly scan your phone from
malware and other threats you see these
apps are designed to detect harmful
software that may have been installed
without your knowledge helping to keep
your personal data safe serto offers a
range of security apps for iPhone and
Android that specialize in scanning for
spyware and other hidden threats I've
included links in the description below
so be sure to check them out public
Wi-Fi networks are easy targets for
hackers if you must use one make sure to
use a VPN to encrypt your data and
protect your personal information a VPN
creates a secure tunnel making it harder
for hackers to intercept what you're
doing
online all right thanks so much for
sticking with us so far by now you've
learned plenty of ways to protect your
phone from hackers but if you're looking
for even more protection here's an
advanced bonus tip for both I phone and
Android users first iPhone users
enabling lockdown mode is a great way to
add an extra layer of Defense it
restricts certain features on your phone
making it harder for advanced spyware to
exploit
vulnerabilities although it may limit
some functionality lockdown mode is
ideal if you feel you could be a target
of highlevel hacking attempts now for
Android users make sure Google Play
protect is enabled on your device play
protect automatically scans apps for
malware before and after they're
installed which offers real-time
protection against potentially harmful
apps you can check this in your Google
Play Store settings to ensure it's
active and keeping your phone
secure well there you have it some
simple but powerful ways to protect your
phone from hackers by taking these steps
you can greatly reduce the risk of
