Mercedes-Benz is experiencing significant growth in the Chinese market, driven by a strategy of localized production and the introduction of specific models like the long-wheelbase E-Class and new smart variants, catering to the unique demands of Chinese consumers.

I have to highlight the new E-Class long wheelbase version
specifically made for China. We are very much convinced,
that we have a stand alone position in that segment,
based on its leading technology and on the level of comfort and
amenities offered to the passengers, especially the real seat.
The Chinese market is doing reasonably well with higher one-digit growth rates.
But we are doing extraordinary well with significant
more than 30% growth in the first quarter again.
So, all of our products are very well received.
To be successful in a competitive market like China you need to produce locally.
So from the roughly 360.000 Mercedes-Benz cars we sold
last year in China roughly two thirds were built in China.
smart is also very important in China.
We are introducing the smart forfour for China at the Beijing Auto Show.
We are also launching the World Premiere of the smart BRABUS here in China.
We started this big success story 5 to 6 years ago here in China.
China became number the number three market in the world.
We are pretty sure that with the fortwo, forfour and the convertible
with its great look and even more comfort than ever before this car
will become more and more important for us in China.
