Hello everyone. Welcome back to Speak
English Daily. I'm Emma.
Let me tell you a true story. Last
month, my friend Lisa had a job
interview. She prepared for 2 weeks. She
practiced her answers. She bought new
clothes. She walked into that interview
room feeling confident.
The interviewer smiled and asked, "Why
do you want to work here?" Lisa
answered, "I want to learn new skills
and gain experience." The interviewer
nodded. Next question. What's your
biggest weakness? Lisa said, "I'm a
perfectionist. I work too hard
sometimes." Again, the interviewer
smiled and wrote something down. Lisa
left feeling great. She thought, "I
nailed it." But guess what happened?
They never called her back. No email, no
second interview, nothing. Lisa was
confused. She asked me, "Emma, I said
all the right things. What went wrong?"
Here's the truth. Lisa's answers sounded
correct. They're the answers you hear
everywhere. I want to learn. I'm a perfectionist.
perfectionist.
I'm a hard worker. But here's the
problem. Everyone says these things.
Interviewers hear them 50 times a day.
These answers are boring. They're empty.
They mean nothing. And worse, some
answers sound good, but actually make
you look bad. Let me give you more
examples. Someone says, "I'm looking for
new challenges." The interviewer thinks,
"You're bored easily. You'll leave in 6
months." Someone says, "I want to
improve my English." The interviewer
thinks, "So my company is your English
school." Someone says, "This job is
convenient for me." The interviewer
thinks, "You don't really want this job.
You just want any job." Do you see the
problem? You think you're being honest
and positive, but the interviewer hears
something completely different.
This is why good candidates don't get
hired. Not because they're not
qualified, but because they don't know
how to answer. Today, I'm teaching you
something different. 35 powerful phrases
that make interviewers say, "Yes, this
is the person we want." These aren't
fake answers. These aren't lies. These
are smart answers that show your real value.
value.
By the end of this video, you will know
exactly what to say in every interview
question. Understand what interviewers
really want to hear. Sound confident and
professional in English. This is not
theory. This is real interview English.
Are you ready? Let's begin.

Perfect. Always prepare questions for
the interviewer. It shows you're
thinking seriously about the job. Never
ask about salary in the first interview.
Ask about the work, the team, the challenges.
challenges.
Now, let me show you how this works in a
real interview.
Story one,
Meet Sarah. She's 24 years old. She's
interviewing for a customer service
representative position at a tech
company. She's nervous, but she prepared
well. She studied these phrases. Let's
watch what happens.
>> Hi, Sarah. Thank you for coming today.
Thank you for having me. I'm excited to
be here.
>> Great. So, let's start. Why do you want
to work in customer service?
>> That's a great question. Let me tell
you, I enjoy helping customers. When
someone has a problem and I can solve
it, that makes me really happy. I'm good
at listening and staying calm. I also
read about your company's mission to
make technology easy for everyone. Your
company values align with mine. I
believe customer service is about making
people feel supported.
>> That's wonderful.
Can you tell me about a time you dealt
with a difficult customer?
>> Yes, of course. At my previous job, a
customer was very upset because their
order was late. I listened carefully and
I stayed calm. I apologized and I
explained what happened. Then I offered
a solution. I gave them a discount on
their next order. The customer was happy
in the end. I learned that patience and
clear communication are very important.
>> Good example. Now, what would you say is
your biggest weakness?
I used to struggle with saying no to
people. I wanted to help everyone at the
same time. But I learned that this made
my work less organized. Now I'm working
on improving my time management. I
prioritize tasks better. I'm still
learning, but I'm improving every day.
>> I appreciate your honesty. So Sarah, why
should we hire you? I believe I can make
a real impact here. I work well with
teams. I'm a fast learner and I'm
passionate about helping people. This
role matches my skills perfectly. I saw
on your website that your team handles
over 500 calls a day. I'm organized and
reliable. I handle pressure well. I'm
ready to contribute to your team from
day one.
>> Excellent. Do you have any questions for me?
me?
>> Yes, I do. What does success look like
in this role? And can you tell me about
the team I'd be working with?
>> Great questions. Success means solving
customer problems quickly and professionally.
professionally.
Our team has 12 people. Everyone is very
supportive. We work together closely.
>> That sounds perfect. Thank you so much
for your time today.
>> Thank you, Sarah. We'll be in touch soon.
>> Excellent. Did you notice what Sarah
did? She didn't just say, "I want to
learn," or "I'm a hard worker." She gave
specific examples. She connected her
skills to their needs. She asked smart
questions. The interviewer was
impressed. Sarah got the job.
Now, let's look at another example. Meet
David. He's 28 years old. He's
interviewing for an IT support
specialist position. He has some
experience, but not a lot. He's worried
he'll think he's not qualified, but he
knows how to answer smartly. Let's see
how he does.
Good morning, David. Thanks for coming in.
in.
>> Good morning. Thank you for this
opportunity. I'm really interested in
this position.
>> Wonderful. So, David, why are you
interested in this role?
>> I'm glad you brought that up. I've been
following your company for a while. I'm
impressed by your company's mission to
help small businesses with technology.
I'm passionate about technology and I
enjoy solving problems. I noticed that
your team focuses on customer support
and technical solutions. This is exactly
the kind of work I enjoy. This role
matches my skills perfectly.
>> That's good to hear. Tell me, do you
have experience with troubleshooting
technical issues?
>> Yes, I do. In my current job, I help
employees with computer problems. I'm
good at solving problems step by step.
For example, last week someone's
computer wouldn't start. I checked the
connections first. Then I tested the
power supply. I found the problem and
fixed it in 20 minutes. I pay attention
to details and I stay calm under pressure.
pressure.
>> Good. Now, I see from your resume you
don't have certification yet. Is that correct?
correct?
>> That's correct. I don't have much formal
certification yet, but I'm eager to
learn. Actually, I'm currently studying
for my COP TIA A+ certification.
I'm taking online courses every weekend.
I see this as an opportunity to develop
my skills further. I'm a fast learner
and I'm improving every day.
>> I appreciate that. How do you handle
stress, especially when multiple people
need help at the same time?
>> I handle pressure well. When multiple
people need help, I prioritize based on
urgency. I communicate clearly with
everyone. I tell them when I can help
them. I also work well with teams. If I
can't solve something immediately, I ask
for help from colleagues. I believe good
communication reduces stress for everyone.
everyone.
>> That's a great approach. So, David, why
should we choose you for this position?
I believe I can make a real impact here.
I'm organized and reliable. I'm
passionate about helping people with
technology. I want to contribute to your
team and help small businesses succeed.
This position will help me grow
professionally and I'm excited to work
on projects like the ones you described.
I'm ready to start and I'm confident I
can do this job well.
>> Excellent. Do you have any questions for us?
us?
>> Yes, I have two questions. What are the
biggest challenges for this position and
what opportunities for growth does this
role offer?
>> Good questions. The biggest challenge is
managing many requests during busy
times. But we have good systems in
place. As for growth, we offer training
programs and certification support. Many
of our senior technicians started in
>> That sounds perfect. Thank you so much
for considering me for this role.
>> Thank you, David. You'll hear from us by
Perfect. David was honest about not
having certification, but he turned it
into a positive. He showed he's actively
learning. He focused on what he can do,
not what he can't. He asked smart
questions about challenges and growth.
Result: David got invited to the second
interview and two weeks later, he got
the job offer. Let me summarize what you
learned today. Number one, never give
empty answers. Don't say, "I'm a hard
worker," or, "I'm a perfectionist."
Everyone says this, it means nothing.
Instead, give specific examples of what
you did. Number two, focus on them, not
just you. Don't say, "I want to learn or
I need experience." Say, "I want to
contribute to your team or I can help
solve this problem." Show what you can
give to them.
Number three, always research the
company. Use phrases like, "I read
about," or, "I noticed that." This shows
you're serious about this job, not just
looking for any job.
Number four, be honest about weaknesses,
but show growth. Don't say, "I have no
weaknesses," or, "I'm perfect." Say, "I
used to struggle with this, but now I
show you're self-aware and improving."
Number five, ask smart questions at the
end. Never say, "I don't have any
questions." Ask about the team, the
challenges, the growth opportunities.
This shows you're thinking long term.
Number six, practice these phrases until
they feel natural. Don't memorize word
for word. Understand the strategy behind
each phrase, then use your own examples.
Before you go, I want to hear from you.
Write in the comments what interview
question scares you the most.
Tell me about yourself.
