0:14 it was Halloween weekend it was falling
0:16 on a Saturday this year my mom always
0:18 takes decorations and giving out candy
0:21 very seriously it's almost like she has
0:22 to compete with the neighbors to have
0:24 the most sought-after house to trigger
0:26 treat at we live on a corner in a
0:28 regular Suburban neighborhood so when
0:30 we're decorating we also decorate the
0:33 sidey of the house too since Halloween
0:35 was a Saturday this year kids started
0:37 trick-or-treating earlier in the day
0:39 however it was a cloudy cold day and
0:41 there was a chance of rain in the
0:44 forecast my mom apparently couldn't
0:45 understand that this may have been a
0:46 factor as to why there weren't many
0:48 trick-or-treaters out instead after a
0:50 few trick-or-treaters seemingly skipped
0:52 our house she assumed it was because
0:54 there weren't enough decorations out to
0:55 attract the
0:57 trick-or-treaters she told me to go get
0:58 whatever containers were left in the
1:01 Attic containing decoration ations I
1:03 insisted this wasn't necessary but she
1:06 insisted otherwise and forced me to so I
1:08 went up to the attic which is directly
1:10 above my bedroom the attic door is in
1:12 the hallway upstairs I pulled down the
1:15 door and climbed up the ladder we had
1:17 the holiday containers sorted a specific
1:18 way so I went over to where the
1:21 Halloween containers were there were
1:23 only a couple still left up there I
1:25 opened one to see what was inside and
1:28 said good enough I started dragging the
1:30 container out towards the attic door
1:31 then I carefully slid the container down
1:34 the ladder as I was about to climb down
1:36 out of the attic I thought I heard
1:38 something on the opposite side of the
1:40 attic like a piece of wood cracking
1:42 under the weight or pressure of
1:44 something I looked over to the wall of
1:47 containers in the far corner it's an
1:49 attic though the sound of wood snapping
1:52 or cracking really wasn't that weird I
1:53 climbed down out of the attic and
1:56 brought the decorations downstairs from
1:58 there my mom and I put out some more
2:00 decorations in the front yard it was
2:02 really windy and felt like rain at any
2:04 second there really weren't many
2:06 trick-or-treaters at all my mom was
2:08 disappointed because she goes all out
2:10 with the candy too she's always been one
2:11 of those people who makes a bunch of
2:13 homemade goodie bags with a bunch of
2:16 different candies inside I could see how
2:17 upset she was that she wasn't going to
2:20 give most of them away at this rate the
2:21 day progressed and I was in my room
2:24 playing video games on my laptop while
2:25 my mom was downstairs in the living room
2:27 and kitchen handing out candies to the
2:29 few trick-or-treaters that would come
2:31 and then it started to rain and that
2:33 pretty much put a damper on the rest of
2:36 the day trick-or-treaters wise I was
2:38 gaming in my room when I heard a crack
2:41 from above my room in the Attic again
2:43 not really abnormal but I made a mental
2:45 note that that was the second time I
2:47 heard something from up there the rest
2:49 of the day was rainy and that night it
2:51 turned into a thunderstorm perfect for Halloween
2:52 Halloween
2:55 night I used to be a big gamer in my
2:57 teens and so instead of going out with
2:59 friends on a Saturday night I would
3:00 often just to stay in playing video games
3:01 games
3:03 unfortunately this night was no
3:05 exception to that I stayed up really
3:08 late into the night past my parents it
3:11 was still raining outside then I heard
3:13 something above me
3:16 again this time it sounded like
3:18 footsteps I was wondering if my mom was
3:20 in the Attic putting stuff away but it
3:22 was late at night I sat and listened for
3:26 a while the sound stopped I paused my
3:28 game and went out into the hallway after
3:30 a couple minutes and I saw the the attic
3:33 door was open I now heard noises from
3:35 downstairs in the kitchen I heard the
3:36 sound of things being moved around in
3:39 the fridge my heart was racing now I
3:41 tiptoed down the hall to my parents'
3:43 room and quietly opened the door when I
3:46 saw both my parents fast asleep in bed I
3:49 felt my stomach twist and I felt sick I
3:51 quietly closed the door and went up to
3:54 my dad to shake him awake he woke up
3:55 easily and I whispered to him there's
3:58 someone in the house he immediately sat
4:00 up and said what I said there's someone
4:02 in the kitchen right now in the fridge I
4:05 think they're hiding in the Attic my dad
4:08 is not a large or confrontational man he
4:09 keeps a police baton under his bed in
4:11 the case of an emergency but I don't
4:13 think he ever thought he'd have to
4:15 actually use it my dad told me to stay
4:17 quiet he went to go look out into the
4:21 Hall quietly when he came back inside he
4:22 whispered that he saw someone down the
4:25 hall climbing into the attic he shut the
4:26 bedroom door and he locked it and then
4:30 called 911 by now my mom was was awake
4:32 too but we all stayed as quiet as
4:34 possible and didn't freak out it was now
4:36 a waiting game until the police showed
4:38 up my dad went downstairs to open the
4:42 front door the attic door was now shut
4:43 the police had to go inside and they
4:45 found some homeless looking man hiding
4:47 in the corner behind that wall of
4:50 containers the sounds I was hearing were
4:52 in fact from a person the whole time the
4:54 man while seeming dirty and kind of
4:56 scary looking apparently was very
4:58 straightforward and honest that he
5:00 simply walked in in when he saw the
5:02 front door was open the day before and
5:05 he had no place to sleep he brought one
5:06 of our blankets up there and there was a
5:08 jar of peanut butter up there too that
5:11 he was eating the whole thing is still
5:13 very disturbing and I wonder how things
5:15 would have played out if I or my father
5:18 confronted the man instead of the police
5:20 my parents didn't press any [Music]
5:31 charges when I was 18 I threw a house
5:34 party at my parents house for Halloween
5:36 it was closed invite meaning I told
5:38 people not to bring strangers that was a
5:41 rule my parents gave me they were not at
5:43 the house that weekend which was why I
5:45 was able to throw the party with another
5:46 rule being the place needed to be even
5:49 cleaner than it was before the party I
5:51 invited around 50 people and probably
5:54 around 40 ended up showing up the party
5:56 started around 600 it was starting to
5:58 get dark out it would be partially in
6:00 the backyard and partially the first
6:02 floor my parents left me money for
6:04 Refreshments like sodas and food to
6:07 leave in the kitchen for people to take
6:08 I told my parents it would be a
6:10 non-alcoholic party but I think they
6:12 knew that was a load of my friend
6:14 who's a few years older than me brought
6:16 his DJ equipment to DJ and the party was
6:19 in full swing by dark everyone seemed to
6:21 listen and not bring strangers because I
6:24 recognized everyone just about everyone
6:26 came up to me and greeted me after
6:28 entering I didn't drink too much because
6:30 it was my party and I wanted to be
6:32 somewhat responsible but everyone else
6:34 was getting drunker the later the night
6:36 went eventually one of my friends came
6:38 out of the house after getting food and
6:39 he asked who that guy in the skeleton
6:42 bodysuit inside the house was I didn't
6:44 recall seeing anyone in a bodysuit
6:47 costume so I went inside the house where
6:48 there were a few people hanging out in
6:50 the kitchen I asked if they saw someone
6:53 wearing a skeleton bodysuit and someone
6:54 told me yeah it seemed like he was
6:56 snooping around the house I grew
6:58 concerned when I heard this and I asked
7:01 if anyone invited him or knew who it was
7:04 no one inside knew him I looked around
7:06 the house and then found him he was
7:09 walking down the stairs I asked who are
7:11 you and he said Mike I was using the bathroom
7:12 bathroom
7:15 upstairs it was a really deep voice he
7:17 sounded older his frame was also a bit
7:20 larger not like muscular just a stockier
7:23 looking build I asked who invited you
7:26 and he said Tom I didn't know a single
7:29 Tom so I asked who's Tom then I just
7:31 asked him if he could take his mask off
7:34 he didn't listen or even respond he just
7:36 walked past me towards the front door
7:39 then he left I ran upstairs to check if
7:41 any of the rooms had been gone through
7:43 and if anything had been stolen all the
7:45 doors upstairs except for the bathroom
7:48 door were closed and after a quick look
7:50 it seemed nothing was stolen so I went
7:52 to lock the front door and then I told a
7:54 bunch of my friends about how weird that
7:56 just was I went outside to ask a few
7:58 friends if they knew who invited the
8:00 skeleton guy and not a single person
8:03 knew who it was eventually I gave it a
8:06 rest the party was winding down around
8:08 midnight most people were starting to
8:10 leave a few close friends stayed behind
8:13 a little later to help clean up after
8:14 all was said and done it was a
8:17 successful party when everyone was gone
8:20 I started getting ready for bed one of
8:21 my friends Vinnie stayed over on the couch
8:22 couch
8:25 downstairs after brushing my teeth and
8:27 changing into pajamas I decided to go
8:28 hang out with Vinnie in the living room
8:30 for a while
8:31 we had some drinks and just watched
8:34 funny YouTube videos on TV my little
8:37 sister who was 14 was asleep by now she
8:39 didn't hang outside with the party
8:41 because she was too young we were being
8:43 quiet so as not to wake her but when
8:45 Vinnie and I both heard noises from
8:48 upstairs it seemed that we woke her up I
8:50 was expecting the sounds which sounded
8:52 like footsteps to move to the bathroom
8:55 or something I got a little confused
8:57 when I never heard my sister's door open
8:59 I decided to go upstairs just to to
9:01 check on her I knocked on her door and
9:04 she didn't answer I opened it a crack
9:06 and saw that she was sleeping so what
9:09 were those sounds I was hearing then I
9:12 went to my parents room and realized the
9:14 door wasn't clicked shut I was able to
9:16 just push it open without twisting the
9:19 door knob which was odd because I made
9:20 sure their door was closed before the
9:23 party I looked inside the room without
9:25 turning on the lights then as I backed
9:27 out of the room I looked through the
9:30 crack of the door and on the other side
9:32 I saw that guy in the skeleton bodysuit
9:34 I made no mistake I knew what I was
9:37 looking at I'm impressed with myself for
9:40 not running or Screaming I pretended I
9:41 didn't see him and pulled the door
9:43 closed then I went downstairs and told
9:45 Vinnie that the guy from before is in
9:48 the house I had him call 911 and tell
9:50 them that there's an intruder in the
9:52 house while I tiptoed back upstairs to
9:54 my sister's room went inside and shook
9:57 her to wake her up I explained to her
9:58 what was going on and made sure she
10:00 would be quiet while following me
10:02 downstairs she did a good job not
10:04 freaking out either when we were
10:06 downstairs we met Vinnie in the kitchen
10:08 by the back door where we went outside
10:11 to the backyard then we cut through the
10:12 side to the front and went to our
10:14 neighbor's house ringing the bell at
10:16 least three times our neighbor let us
10:19 wait with him for the police but at some
10:21 point before the police got there that
10:23 guy escaped through our parents' bedroom
10:25 window I know because the window was now
10:28 open their closet door was also open
10:30 where my dad keeps his safe it's as if
10:32 it were someone who knew about the safe
10:34 being there that tried breaking into it
10:35 or just taking the whole safe out from
10:38 the floor it was obvious how the man
10:40 broke in he simply just walked into the
10:42 party again it could have been any
10:44 number of people though we never found
10:46 out who it was but it was someone who
10:49 knew I was having a party someone older
10:51 and someone who knew about my parents
10:53 safe my sister ended up telling our
10:55 parents about it and obviously that was
10:57 the last party I was ever allowed to
11:00 throw at their house [Music]
11:11 this happened in 2016 when I was 15 this
11:13 would be my last year trick-or-treating
11:15 on Halloween so I wanted to make it a
11:17 big occasion my mom is pretty laidback
11:20 so it turned into a huge multi-day thing
11:22 for me the day before Halloween I would
11:24 have a sleepover with my friends Davis
11:26 and Zach skip school the next day on
11:29 Halloween trick-or treat with Davis and
11:31 back and then have a sleepover with just
11:33 my girlfriend Amber and I this story
11:36 carries into both nights so I'll try to
11:39 explain the best I can my basement had
11:41 just gotten renovated into a man cave so
11:43 obviously my friends and I wanted to
11:44 stay down there for the night the
11:46 basement had a long hallway right to the
11:49 man cave the light switch to the hallway
11:51 didn't work it had a pretty creepy Vibe
11:53 but for tonight that would be a good
11:56 thing my mom made us cookies and then we
11:58 went down into the cave it was around
12:00 11: p.m. and we had just finished
12:03 watching the original scream our second
12:05 movie of the night would be paranormal
12:07 activity which none of us had watched
12:09 before and that's why I picked it I
12:11 remember pausing the movie not even 30
12:12 seconds in because of the motion
12:14 detected light in the backyard turning
12:17 on it lit the whole room up ruining the
12:19 creepy Vibe we had going so I waited for
12:22 the 30-second timer so it would turn off
12:24 and then unpaused the movie then after
12:26 about another 30 seconds the light went
12:28 off for a second time and I started
12:29 getting annoyed
12:31 Davis asked me what kept making it turn
12:34 on and I said I had no clue 30 more
12:36 seconds passed by and the light turned
12:39 off again and I played the movie again
12:41 it was at this point I wanted to know
12:42 what the hell was going on and so I
12:44 asked for Davis and Zach to come
12:45 upstairs with me so I could see what it
12:48 was they agreed and went up the stairs
12:50 to look through my back door by the time
12:52 we got there the light in the backyard
12:55 had turned off so it was hard to see we
12:57 stood for 5 minutes waiting for
12:59 something to happen but nothing ever did
13:01 we went back down to the den and decided
13:03 to turn off the movie for the night and
13:05 just sit on our phones and talk we
13:08 weren't really invested in it anyway
13:11 about 2 hours later everyone was asleep
13:14 except for me I was just scrolling on my
13:16 phone when the familiar glow of the
13:17 motion light came through the window for
13:20 now the fourth time I was exhausted
13:21 though and so I figured it was just
13:23 another group of kids trying to prank us
13:25 or something but the more I thought
13:28 about it the less it made sense I fig
13:30 figured I would check the backyard one
13:32 last time and just like I thought would
13:36 happen no one was out there I gave up so
13:37 I went back down to the den and called
13:39 it a night the next night came in the
13:42 blink of an eye the next thing I knew I
13:44 had a bag full of candy I felt kind of
13:47 sad in a way this was like my childhood
13:49 ending however I figured I should just
13:51 try and enjoy the night and not
13:54 reminisce at this point I still had
13:55 lingering thoughts about the previous
13:58 night whether I should tell Amber or not
14:00 she was scared of everything and I
14:01 didn't want to ruin a night with her
14:04 over a story we were at one of our last
14:06 houses on the route we took when Amber
14:09 let out a loud yell in pain we asked
14:11 what happened and then she told us that
14:13 she had a rock thrown at her I turned
14:16 around to find some guy in a clown mask
14:19 standing around 15 ft behind us this was
14:21 amid the clown epidemic I told him to
14:25 get lost but he just stood there I
14:26 analyzed him a bit more and realized
14:29 this guy looked like a grown man he only
14:32 had a clown mask on also the rest of his
14:34 quote unquote costume was just normal
14:36 clothes we kept walking but all the man
14:39 did was stand there it was at this point
14:41 we called it a night and skipped the
14:42 last few houses out of
14:45 anxiety we went back to my house so my
14:47 friends could get picked up and just
14:49 like that it was just my girlfriend and
14:51 I looking at candy on the floor in the
14:53 den she asked if we could watch a movie
14:55 so I decided that I would just turn on
14:57 Paranormal Activity again later that
14:59 night to finish it
15:01 I remember the scene in the movie
15:03 Perfectly it was ma walking around to
15:05 find his girlfriend when suddenly the
15:07 screen went black and the dimmed lights
15:10 in the cave turned off my girlfriend and
15:12 I looked at each other I realized the
15:15 power went out this immediately made me
15:17 start to get paranoid the power had
15:18 never gone out in this house unless
15:21 there was a storm I checked my weather
15:23 app and it said it was normal conditions
15:25 that night not even a little bit of rain
15:27 I told Amber to stay in the cave but she
15:29 felt scared down there so she decided to
15:31 come upstairs with me to see what was
15:34 going on the generator to the house was
15:36 in the backyard and that's when I got
15:38 the terrible feeling in my stomach the
15:40 thoughts of last night creeping back to
15:43 me and this time I didn't have Davis and
15:45 Zach with me and Amber wasn't very
15:47 strong all the worst thoughts came to my
15:49 mind as I opened the sliding door to the
15:52 backyard all I heard was crickets
15:55 chirping I figured that maybe I was just
15:57 overthinking Amber and I passed by the
15:59 motion light which didn't didn't kick on
16:02 now I was about 5 ft from the generator
16:04 when I thought I heard a twig snap Amber
16:06 and I looked towards the forest on the
16:08 far side of the yard with the only
16:10 sounds being crickets but we felt like
16:13 we were being watched I almost felt like
16:16 I had to throw up I decided we'd rather
16:17 stay in the house with no lights on than
16:20 be out here I didn't want to be outside
16:23 any longer Amber started making her way
16:26 inside and that's when I saw him the
16:28 same guy in a clown mask standing to the
16:31 side of my shed we just stared at each
16:33 other for a while like he was trying to
16:36 scare us and then he suddenly jumped
16:38 forward and started sprinting at us I
16:40 ran to the back door and slammed it shut
16:43 after Amber we ran down into the cave
16:45 and we got behind the bar in the corner
16:47 of the room that's when I realized I
16:49 never locked the back door and we heard
16:51 a slam from
16:53 upstairs now everything was silent in
16:56 the man cave Amber started texting 911
16:58 because she was too scared to talk she
17:00 explained that there was a man in the
17:03 house minutes felt like hours must have
17:06 been like 10 minutes tops and the sound
17:08 I had been dreading to hear came the
17:11 basement door opening I heard footsteps
17:13 come down the stairs and down the
17:15 hallway my girlfriend was breathing too
17:17 loud I had to cover her
17:19 mouth I heard footsteps come towards our
17:22 Direction and stop I was starting to
17:24 think my only option might be to fight
17:27 if he finds out where we were I grabbed
17:28 a beer bottle from behind the bar
17:30 and prepared myself mentally to fight if
17:33 I had to the room stayed silent for
17:35 quite a while but then we heard sirens
17:38 come from outside I realized this was
17:40 the perfect distraction and moment to
17:42 strike in a fraction of a second I got
17:45 up ran at him and swung at his head with
17:47 the bottle but I tripped and fell after
17:50 I swung and I hit the ground I looked up
17:52 to see that man with the clown mask from
17:54 earlier I think his mask somewhat
17:56 blocked my swing because he barely
17:58 flinched I realized this was a stupid
18:00 idea because it seemed like he was about
18:02 to go back upstairs after hearing the
18:04 sirens anyway he looked down at me on
18:07 the floor I was about to yell at Amber
18:09 to run as I laid on the floor scrambling
18:12 to get up my legs felt numb and I
18:13 realized my life could potentially end
18:16 right now but the police could be heard
18:18 outside the man stared for another
18:20 moment before running up the stairs then
18:22 we heard the back door open and slam
18:25 again I ran upstairs to let the police
18:27 in and told them he went out back and of
18:29 course you're wondering the answer is no
18:31 the police somehow never caught this guy
18:33 to my knowledge I can't go down to that
18:35 man cave alone anymore without feeling
18:37 anxious even to this day so we would
18:40 hang out at Amber for a while after that
18:41 there's nothing I can do but look back
18:44 and be grateful that we're still alive
18:45 I'll never forget that feeling of
18:47 looking up and seeing that clown mask
