0:11 Hi Jessica, it's great to meet you. How
0:13 are you today? I'm actually feeling a
0:15 bit nervous today. I'm new to this role
0:18 and to be honest to coaching too, but
0:19 I'm really looking forward for this
0:22 opportunity and getting some guidance on
0:23 how to be more effective in my
0:25 leadership role. I completely
0:27 understand, Jessica. It's normal to feel
0:28 a bit nervous when starting something new.
0:30 new.
0:32 Coaching is a partnership. So, think of
0:35 it as a space where we work together to
0:37 support your growth. Today, I'd love to
0:38 take this time to really get to know
0:40 each other and start building a strong
0:43 foundation for our working relationship.
0:45 How does that sound? That sounds great.
0:47 Uh, I really want to make sure I'm
0:48 feeling comfortable with you and
0:50 building a strong foundation will really
0:53 help me a lot. Absolutely. The better we
0:54 understand each other, the more
0:57 effective our coaching sessions will be.
0:58 Let's start by talking a little bit
1:01 about your journey so far. Can you tell
1:02 me what has led you to this coaching
1:05 opportunity? Sure. Uh I've been working
1:08 in healthcare for about six years now
1:09 and I was recently promoted to a
1:12 managerial position. I'm really looking
1:14 forward for this new challenge, but I'm
1:17 feeling a bit overwhelmed at times. I
1:19 want to make sure that I learn how to
1:21 better communicate with my team and
1:23 become a more confident leader. Thank
1:25 you for sharing that, Jessica.
1:26 Sounds like you've had a solid
1:30 foundation in healthcare, but now
1:33 stepping into this managerial role,
1:35 there are new dynamics to consider.
1:36 Okay. And it's great that you've
1:38 recognized the need for support. I
1:40 believe that by working together, we can
1:42 make sure you feel more confident and
1:45 capable as a leader. I appreciate that,
1:47 Adam. I know there's a lot to learn. Uh
1:48 but I'm hoping that through this
1:51 coaching, I'll make a really good impact
1:53 on my team and our work environment.
1:55 That's a fantastic mindset, Jessica. You
1:57 know, one of the most important things
1:59 in coaching is that we build a safe,
2:02 open, and honest space. You can feel
2:04 free to share challenges, successes, or
2:06 even any doubts that you might have
2:08 along the way. What I'm trying to say is
2:10 that this will be a confidential and
2:13 judgment-free space. And I want to make
2:15 sure that this coaching process is
2:17 centered around your specific needs and
2:21 goals. But today, our main focus is on
2:23 getting to know one another so we can
2:24 set a strong direction for our future
2:26 work together. How do you feel about
2:29 that? I'm really relieved to hear that.
2:31 I've been really focused on doing the
2:33 right thing that I tend to forget that
2:35 it's okay to be open about areas where I
2:37 might need some help. I'm glad this will
2:40 be a supportive space. Exactly. We're in
2:42 this together. Now, as we move forward,
2:44 it's important to keep in mind that
2:46 coaching isn't about giving you all the
2:49 answers. Instead, it's about asking the
2:51 right questions and helping you discover
2:53 your own solutions based on your
2:56 strength and experiences. I'll be here
2:58 to guide you, but I also want to empower
3:00 you to find your own path. To make sure
3:02 we're both clear on how we can work best
3:04 together, let's talk about some of our
3:07 mutual expectations. For me, I'll be
3:09 here to listen, provide feedback, and
3:11 offer strategies or insights when
3:13 needed. I'll also hold you accountable
3:16 for the goals we set, but it's important
3:18 that you feel comfortable bringing any
3:21 challenges or concerns to me. As for
3:23 you, I'd like you to come to each
3:26 session prepared to reflect on your own
3:28 experiences, share what's been working
3:30 and what hasn't, and be open to
3:32 exploring new ideas. Does that sound
3:35 fair? Yes, that sounds really good. I'm
3:38 ready to reflect and share openly. And
3:40 the accountability piece is especially
3:42 important for me because I tend to get
3:44 caught up in day-to-day task and forget
3:47 to focus on the bigger picture. That's
3:49 completely normal. And I think that by
3:51 working together, we can help you focus
3:52 on the bigger picture while still
3:55 managing the daily tasks. It's all about
3:57 finding balance and prioritizing your leadership
3:58 leadership
4:00 development. Now that we've discussed
4:02 how we'll work together, I'd like us to
4:03 think about the initial goals we'd like
4:06 to set. These can be short-term or
4:07 long-term and we'll revisit them
4:10 regularly. Okay? And I want to make sure
4:13 that your goals are meaningful to
4:17 you. What are some things that if you
4:19 were to achieve them would make you feel
4:21 like you're growing as a leader? Uh
4:24 well, I think one of my main goals uh is
4:27 to uh build a stronger relationship with
4:30 my team. I want to be approachable,
4:33 accessible, but also respected. Uh,
4:36 another goal also is to get better at
4:38 delegating tasks uh and not feeling the
4:40 need to do everything on my own. Those
4:43 are fantastic goals, Jessica. Building
4:44 trust with your team and learning to
4:47 delegate effectively are both crucial
4:49 for your growth as a leader. For our next
4:50 next
4:53 session, let's focus on creating
4:55 specific actionable steps towards
4:57 building those relationships and
4:59 practicing delegation. How do you feel
5:02 about that? That's exactly what I need.
5:04 I want to focus on those areas, but I
5:06 want to make sure I do it in a way that
5:09 feels authentic to me. Absolutely. It's
5:11 all about making those actions fit your
5:13 own leadership style. And I'll help you
5:14 identify ways to practice them in a way
5:17 that feels easy for you. And we'll
5:18 review your progress along the way so
5:20 that you're always moving forward.
5:22 Before we wrap up today's session, I'd
5:25 like to summarize the next steps. First,
5:27 over the next two weeks, I'd like you to
5:29 focus on having one-on-one conversations
5:32 with each of your team
5:34 members. Use this time to listen
5:37 actively and show your support.
5:39 Also, think about how you can begin to
5:41 delegate some tasks so you can free up
5:44 your time for the most important
5:47 work. At our next session, we'll review
5:49 how those conversations went and explore
5:51 specific strategies for delegating
5:54 effectively. How does that sound? That
5:56 sounds really doable. I'm excited to get
5:58 started. Thank you so much, Adam, for
6:00 making the first session so comfortable
6:02 and clear. Of course, Jessica, I'm
6:04 looking forward to seeing your progress.
6:07 Remember, this is a partnership, so I'll
6:09 be here to support you every step of the
