Did you know that Vicenteoto Memorial
Medical Center wasn't always called
that? The hospital started its operation
in 1911 under the name hospital delsur
and in 1913 1913.

through act number 2725. So basically
the government supported and funded the
hospital. Then it was later renamed
Southern Islands Hospital which has a
capacity of 30 beds. Imagine that. I
mean 30 beds serving patients from
Bisayas to Mindanao.
30 beds capacity per now it has a
capacity of 1,500 beds and operates as a
level three general tertiary government
hospital. So meaning it is a teaching
and training hospital and still provide
gabanil medical services dialysis unit,
rehabilitation unit, a blood bank etc
etc and then by 1992
Southern Island hospital was changed or
the name of it was changed through what
we all know now la Vicente Memorial
Medical Center. It was to honor

journalist, a playright, and a senator.
He's known as a father of Sabuano
journalism because he founded the first
ever Sibuano newspaper in 1901 called

with his generosity, his dedication, his

it inspired the hospital's renaming.
