0:02 hi today's video topic is how to change
0:06 the source for your PBX file from your
0:10 local computer to SharePoint online and
0:12 we've done this before however somebody
0:14 pointed out in the comments that there's
0:17 a better place to get the file path and
0:19 I totally agree with that so I am just
0:22 updating that to reflect the better
0:24 place to get that from so uh if you
0:26 missed the last one the use case for
0:29 doing this is to well number one have
0:32 your files that are a source for your
0:35 reports be in a place that is not
0:38 only on your local machine so in the
0:40 cloud backed up accessible to other
0:42 people and also you don't need to use
0:46 the gateway to refresh on that source so
0:49 we're going to move in this case we have
0:51 for our source here
0:55 have a Json file and the Json file is on
0:57 my local computer and I'm going to
0:58 upload this to SharePoint and then
1:00 change the file path and this sounds
1:02 like it would be really straightforward
1:04 however SharePoint online does some
1:06 really weird things to file paths that
1:09 makes it a little bit less intuitive
1:10 than you would expect
1:13 so what I'm going to do is open up
1:15 SharePoint here and I've just got a
1:17 plain SharePoint site an e SharePoint
1:19 online site will work SharePoint on
1:20 premise will work too but you need to
1:22 use the Gateway if it's on premise
1:25 so I've got my Json file here I'm just
1:26 going to drag and drop it into a
1:29 SharePoint library and there it is and
1:31 I'm going to go to the full document
1:32 Library which is this one here because
1:34 you get more menu options in here and
1:36 then I'm going to click on the file so
1:37 I'm not going to click on the file name
1:39 because that'll open the file I'm just
1:40 going to highlight this file
1:44 and then click on this little eye icon
1:47 in the corner here so this is going to
1:51 give me my file properties and from here
1:53 scroll all the way down there is a thing
1:57 that says path and that is what you want
1:58 because if you open up this file in
2:01 SharePoint it'll give you and if it's a
2:03 Json file to give you a file preview URL
2:06 and this URL won't work
2:07 if it's
2:09 um if it's an Excel file it will give
2:13 you and the Excel online Link which will
2:15 not work so we need the actual file path
2:17 so what we copied I'm just going to
2:19 paste it in the top URL bar here is just
2:23 a very straightforward clean path to
2:25 your file so we're going to use that in
2:27 power bi and just
2:33 click on your Source step and now we're
2:34 just going to replace everything between
2:38 the double quotes here
2:42 that and then this check mark icon and
2:45 it gives me a message which actually is
2:47 fine if you go in here to edit settings
2:49 it'll fix it so what's happening is the
2:51 reference to a local file is a little
2:53 bit different than the reference to the
2:55 online file the connector is set up a
2:56 little bit differently so this just
2:58 resets it basically
2:59 so just
3:01 um click OK on this box that you've opened
3:03 opened
3:06 and it wants my login information
3:16 all right so now let's go to our last
3:19 step to make sure that worked
3:20 and it did
3:24 so we are now good to go so this can be
3:27 gonna apply all right so our file
3:29 references are now pointed to SharePoint
3:31 online so we can go ahead and schedule
3:33 refresh if we want to without using the Gateway
3:34 Gateway
