today we are going to learn how to work
on looker Studio looker Studio formally
Google data studio is an online tool for
converting data into customizable uh
reports or even into dashboard uh which
is introduced by Google company in
2016 it's the working principles are
similar with powerbi so let's start
working on it this is the main interface
of look your studio here we can see the
templates of uh some dashboards in our
case uh we going to start from blank
report let's click it okay in order to
create a report of course we have to
show what is the data source or data set
here we can upload the data from
different resources such as Google
analytics Google advertisements bqy or
even you can upload your CSV files from
your device uh in our practice work uh
we're going to upload a data set from
Google shets if you open up your seven
practice work here I already provided
you a data set which looks like this
this data set in the format of Excel
file uh however we're going to import
Google sheet file that's why your task
is to go to the file and save as Google
Sheets file on your Google drive when
you will save it on your Google Drive
click this Google Sheets after that from
this list try to find out your own
document and click the add button one
more time add button add to report right
panel side we can see all data from our
data set let's have a look what kind of
data set we have so we have a data set about
about
consumers uh they orders how they have
ordered when they have ordered what they
have ordered like categories like
Furniture office supplies
subcategories uh what is the product
name right when they have Shi this order
so what was the profit what was the
sales there are a lot of data
approximately 500 rows okay so our task
is to visualize all Excel data in the
format of this report just have a look
different Maps different charts also
cards so first let's start doing from
the title of our dashboard I'm going to
delete this one from my template let's
add the title uh on the top side here we
have our main toolbox uh which we're
going to use while filling out our Das
dashboard let's go to shape select the
rectangle shape and draw in your area to
change the color of this rectangle click
the background color select the one
color you prefer to use and I highly
recommend you to use this color on other
part of your dashboard okay and then
click the text and name your uh report
file let's say super
store sales report
it's too small let's resize it pixel for
example 30 pixels color white let's say
let's move on next now we have to put
down the card which will illustrate us
the profit sales and quantity part let's
go to add the chart part select here
scorec card and put on inside of your
dashboard when you will insert some data
here on the right panel side you have
some options to manage so basically
you're going to manage the metrix part
and dimensions part so first I need a
profit that's why inside of metrix I'm
going to find out the profit this
one okay here we are my next task is to
compact this number which means round
the number let's go to inside styling
here we have a compact numbers TI on
let's say I would like to apply the
color which I have used before and let
me resize it let's say 48
pixels okay next we have to show The
Profit has increased or decreased okay
we have to compare the value based on
our date okay see the uh the profit has
increased by 21% according to our
comparation data in the same way we have
to illustrate sales and
quantity okay you have to do the same
design part you have to do work with the
styling with setup sections in order to
save your time I recommend you to copy
and paste this profit one more time and
inside of setup change your profit into
sales okay here we are 2.3 Millions one
more time crl c contrl v and let's put
it next to sales and name this profit
into quantity
now okay perfect next we have to manage
our whole dashboard or whole report by
drop- down list let's say you can just
manage them by categories by segment or
even by I don't know subt I don't know
maybe by states of USA right I'm going
to select here the add a control select
dropdown and put it here on my dashboard
let me reiz a bit by default it says me
order idid however I would like to
manage my report by uh category so let's
go to control field select here the
category let's go to style let's style
our drop down text uh let's say 24
pixels change the background color and
change the text color good so now if I
will select only category technology The
Profit sale datas has also changed let's
say Only Furniture data has updated too
okay it means you can anytime select
only one category which you prefer you
can change this category into
subcategories to get more datas okay I'm
going to tick on all items and continue
working with my other uh
charts so next my task is to
show uh discount by categories so it is
pie chart let's go back to add a chart
part let's select the P Donal chart put
it after to my sales
card let me resize a
bit okay by default it shows me only
three categories technology office
supplies and Furnitures but I would like
to change these categories into
subcategories let's go to Dimension
select the
subcategory and next part that I have to
fix is the metrix part uh my task is to
illustrate discount not a profit that's
why let's go to profit and find out here
the discount rate

okay next part we have to style our pie
chart uh let's say I would like to
demonstrate only five slices 10 is two
there are a lot of slices which is
really complicated to manage so I'm
slices next I would like to color my pie
chart based on my design um so let's s h
the single color and apply the color
that you're using all time like
this okay and the last step for this pie
chart is to give a title let's select a
text name for example their rate of discount
discount by
subcategories okay let's make it
text uh we have to illustrate what are
the 10 top states by segment profit we
have to show here the G chart uh on the
below side we have to show the table of
this chart again go to add the chart
part let's say here chart located next
to our pie chart let me a little bit
resize it okay so uh if you insert the
map it highlights only United States why
because in our data set you can check
the country only United States if you
add here some Asia countries your report
will highlight also Asia
countries everything based on your data
source okay let's say as the dimensions
I would like to show not only country I
would like to show the
cities to see in the closer mode
uh and also in the metrix part I'm not
going to show the discount now I would
it uh if you'd like to add one more
metric like segment according to your
task just uh turn on optional metrics
and add here the segment it's optional
to do you can also show them on the
table without mentioning them on your
map exactly okay so uh how we can add a
te table now the table should illustrate
the map table is the another part of our
map so that's what we have to get here
the table and if you look carefully your
table has a progress bar that's why you
have to select the table with the bar
like it under your map now as you see on
the bottom side I don't have enough
space to add either chart or control
datas so that's why I need to expand my
page size to do it we have to go for
let's scroll it okay now it's good so I
already have a table let me resize it
make it bigger so let's have a look it
consists of State segment and profit
profit also should illustrate your
progress bar so here let's say instead
of subcategory let me illustrate the
states next has to be segment I need
another column so which means inside of
dimension you have to insert one more
time your
segment and the third column it will be
profit and the metric which illustrat
your bar progress I'm going to mention
one more time profit according to your
task it has to be
profit okay good so now uh just try to
apply again to your map and to your t
the same style as you have applied on
the top part again start working with your
title okay I think everything is clear
it's really easy to use you can easily
manage everything with the help of this
tool boxes in your setup section on the
right panel side now your task is to
finish this dashboard finish your report
so you have to now create another part
chart which will illustrate your sales
by product categories with their
quantities just have a look here you
have a subcategories here you have a
sales and quantity ship mode here you
have a four ship mode like standard
class first class second class T sales
and profit and the last table is about
top five cities by the sales and Profit
just illustrate only five
cities okay this is the way how you can
easily create your dashboard with the
help of look your studio even if you
have a lot of complicated data on your
Excel file you can easily manage and
easily illustrate all your data in
attractive way um when you will finish
just go to share button so it has to be
public make sure it's the editor option
