0:13 I've had kind of like issues with the
0:15 neck for a while ever since

0:20 um I'm trying remember how long ago it
0:22 was like probably about like four months
0:26 ago I was doing like a LP pull down and
0:29 I just pulled down and felt something
0:30 kind of like pop
0:32 in the back of my neck and it wasn't
0:34 like a heavy set it was kind of as I was
0:38 warming up um and like the weight caught
0:40 on the slide and so I had to pull harder
0:42 and it just popped and then I was like
0:44 well that was weird I did one
0:47 more and uh I was like I should let me
0:49 stop and just like stretch and see how
0:51 that feels so I I I got up and then I
0:53 went to go bend down and pick up my
0:55 phone and I couldn't bend my I couldn't
0:57 bend over I felt like my head was going
1:01 to like like fall couldn't control it
1:03 yeah okay um was it hurting while this
1:04 happened or were you more it was like a
1:08 like a n n out of 10 like on the lean
1:10 forward like any like movement like
1:13 where my head came at a different spot
1:16 so then like uh you know then I went
1:18 over and I like stretched I laid down I
1:20 like held my head as I laid down yeah
1:23 and then that it was like that for a
1:27 while uh like two days I like would just
1:28 pick up my head whenever I got out of
1:31 bed and then like anytime I laid down I
1:33 just hold my head and it kind of got a
1:36 little better and then I went and I saw
1:38 one of the pts that I worked with yeah
1:42 and he did some needling and some very
1:45 similar motions to what we did today the
1:47 like I'm assuming like some sort of like
1:51 mob yeah no manips we did a manip okay
1:54 first day cool yeah uh and and the
1:56 needles and it and it felt like a decent
1:58 amount better then I was working there
2:00 that day and so like they just said
2:02 throughout the day my my motion got a
2:04 lot worse like I started again like like
2:07 turning tighten back up um but since
2:09 then it's gotten a lot better but like
2:12 sometimes when I do like back day or or
2:14 lap pull Downs I'll just feel it and
2:16 then I haven't been able to like push my
2:19 lap pull Downs to like like a heavy
2:24 weight push like push the weight um okay
2:26 so the initial injury was four weeks ago
2:27 four months four months ago four months
2:30 ago four months ago you're pulling down
2:32 the weight got stuck meaning yeah like
2:33 there was like some extra like
2:35 resistance and I was doing a warm up and
2:37 and then I had to pull hard anded it
2:39 through felt the pop was the pain
2:41 immediate or the weird that was weird no
2:43 it just felt weird and then like I got
2:45 up I didn't think about it until like I
2:47 went to pick up my phone and I just went
2:50 to pick up my phone I was like yeah
2:51 that's where the nine out of 10 started
2:53 yeah was that consistent until you saw
2:55 your PT friends or I'd say it probably
2:57 got down to like a seven whenever I
2:59 tried to move my head we were still hot
3:01 how long between the injury and the PT
3:05 visit uh I think it was two days okay
3:07 how were those day and a half rough
3:09 pretty terrible I couldn't I wasn't
3:12 sleeping and then like anytime I would
3:15 get up I would just like pick up my head
3:16 or i' have my fiance what were you doing
3:18 that for when you're telling me you're
3:19 kind of holding your head through
3:21 movements that that made the pain less
3:22 I'm guessing holding it it was less
3:27 painful okay what why else I don't know
3:29 like I felt like if I would try either I
3:31 would wouldn't be able to control it or
3:35 the pain would spike up yeah and that's
3:36 an interesting feeling that not being
3:38 able to control it have you felt that
3:39 before is that something you've
3:40 experienced in your neck before anything
3:42 like this
3:44 before anything that you could say yeah
3:45 I get neck pain occasionally the closest
3:47 thing I would say is kind of like a like
3:49 a whip lashy okay tell me about that
3:53 like I've I've you know from soccer um I
3:55 get sometimes you go up for head or you
3:57 get your legs taken out and I just land
4:00 oh okay uh funny concussion concussion
4:02 Associated no no really just like land
4:06 on my my side I mean maybe but but uh
4:08 I've never like lost Consciousness
4:09 you're really stiff after I would say
4:13 like that like that like I can't move
4:14 kind of feeling how about that cck in
4:17 your neck you wake up and you're like a
4:18 man yeah it's kind of like a crick in
4:20 your neck but
4:22 like okay and back in soccer so it's not
4:24 like every five months I deal with this
4:26 it happened before and this is pretty
4:27 random that's what I'm hearing yeah it's
4:29 I've never had anything like that but I
4:31 if if I had to compare it to one thing
4:33 it' probably be like a little how long
4:35 until it got manageable you saw the PT
4:37 two days after you were still struggle
4:39 it sounds like by the end of the day you
4:41 were almost back to where you were or
4:43 heading back to where you were well no
4:45 so like after the treatment I probably
4:49 was like I sit like a three out of 10
4:51 was like but by the end of the day I was
4:55 probably back to about a seven but I I I
4:58 was like in the clinic helping patients
5:01 Tot so I was moving around you may not
5:02 remember the next day but if you can
5:04 kind of think about that whole month
5:07 after like are we talking man Dr B it
5:09 was day after day I got a little better
5:11 a little better a little better and now
5:13 we're kind of or or was there a rapid
5:15 Improvement and now it's just talk to me
5:18 about that it was probably like like
5:20 like a week until I felt like I could
5:22 not really think about getting out of
5:24 bed oh okay that's pretty were you
5:26 working out during that time were you
5:29 avoiding things because of this um I
5:30 mostos avoiding stuff yeah you weren't
5:33 running you weren't like I I wasn't very
5:35 comfortable I did some like light leg
5:38 days okay um you clim you climb rocks
5:41 right I do climb rocks yeah um did that
5:44 has that been going on since this has
5:47 happened uh yeah so I i' I've I got back
5:51 to climbing um probably like when I
5:54 could get out of bed okay so week or so
5:57 after yeah like a week or soim um but
6:00 like I was really careful like like I
6:01 usually when I get to the top I'll just
6:03 jump off cuz I don't really care sure
6:06 but I just climb down it's called
6:09 getting older yeah um I the impact kind
6:12 of scared me and then and then like
6:16 looking to holds yeah um throughout all
6:19 of this any light sensitivity any weird
6:22 speech changes food changes visual
6:24 changes anything like that that's ever
6:26 been like hold on is this related anything
6:27 anything
6:30 scary no I would say just the sensation
6:32 of not being able my head was scary not
6:34 being able to move it you also more than
6:35 once have said you were concerned it was
6:37 going to fall off for you concern yeah I
6:39 mean like it felt like I wouldn't be
6:41 able to control my head okay that's
6:43 that's I and I don't know what that
6:44 really that's okay but you still it
6:46 sounds like you still blame pain for
6:47 that like I'm just I'm not sure if the
6:49 Pain's going to Here Comes the Pain let
6:51 me avoid that yeah I'm not it's kind of
6:53 like I'm not sure if I just was
6:56 like you know didn't want to use the
6:58 neck right and so I was like mostly just
7:01 like kind of balancing my head totally
7:05 or or if or if like it actually was like
7:08 kind of slump in the last week or two
7:09 talk to me about how this is affecting
7:11 your life it's mostly like checking
7:14 blind spots in my car oh God get on the
7:16 road with like it doesn't hurt most of
7:19 the time okay but like you know like it
7:22 hurts there and then it hurts there
7:23 which one's
7:26 worse right
7:29 now left going to the left hurts on the
7:30 right right yeah hurts on the right
7:32 going to the right hurts on the right
7:34 but going to the left hurts more yeah
7:38 okay um other than turning in the car do
7:39 you notice this much you you're studying
7:41 for school does it affect positions
7:43 you're in does it affect studying for a
7:45 long hour at the computer how are we
7:46 doing with that I do feel like it
7:49 fatigues a little bit what like I don't
7:52 know if I'm bracing extra or like I'm
7:54 guarding in certain positions like if I
7:58 stick my head out forward it hurts um um
8:00 what's fatig feeling to you I know what
8:02 you mean but at the end of a long study
8:03 session what are you feeling in your
8:06 neck ache just like uh like this right
8:10 side okay uh just get yeah kind of gets
8:13 a little tired like tight anything in
8:16 the hands down the arm shoulder
8:19 blade uh I would say
8:20 say
8:23 maybe maybe into the shoulder blade but
8:24 I don't know I have a lot of I have a
8:27 lot of thoracic like tension so I don't
8:30 know if anything new in the four months
8:32 or any I used to be able to press this
8:35 now I can't press that much anymore
8:37 chest press shoulder press row you
8:39 haven't noticed weakness if it is it's
8:41 because you're in pain I haven't I mean
8:42 Ju Just on the lot pull down I haven't
8:46 gotten back up to like where I was just
8:49 increase can you do pull-ups um like a
8:51 wider grip pullup is
8:55 worse than like a narrow grip oh okay so
8:58 like versus here and worse meaning more
9:00 painful and hard it feels like I I'm
9:03 pulling on okay what feels good when it
9:12 down
9:15 uh when it like spikes up sounds like
9:17 you can get to a position that calms it
9:20 down yeah it's pretty neutral
9:24 stay yeah I mean just sit here uh
9:26 movement maybe like Little movements
9:28 yeah don't that don't hurt but like if I
9:30 if I keep
9:32 pushing forward or like going this way
9:36 or like jamming it yeah um have you
9:38 tried any alternative massage Cairo you
9:41 still seeing a PT no I I really only saw
9:44 him for that uh one visit and then he
9:46 treated me at the beginning of the day
9:48 and then I worked and he treated me at
9:51 the end oh okay did they treat me at the
9:52 end calm it down again you did the same
9:55 thing pretty much the same no needles uh
9:57 we just did cups and and and it was a
10:00 different PT but it was cups and and
10:03 cool can I try to recap what I've heard
10:04 four months ago you're doing a lap pull
10:07 down it kind of got stuck you yanked to
10:09 compensate you felt the twinge you
10:10 weren't too concerned until you went to
10:13 bend over and that's when things spiked
10:15 that Spike stayed for at least two days
10:17 until you went back to work you saw the
10:20 guy he calmed a way down like 97 to
10:22 three yeah you're moving moving and
10:23 building back up by the end of the day
10:25 you're maybe better than you started but
10:27 you're still back up there maybe a
10:28 little better than I started took
10:30 another week for you to really feel
10:32 comfortable resuming Nick's regular life
10:34 and maybe even longer to get back to
10:36 Nick's athletic life yeah okay the the
10:38 next two three months ago and you keep
10:40 getting a little better a little better
10:42 but you haven't loaded up lats partly
10:45 fear partly it still hurts yeah like I
10:47 can still go pretty heavy but like I I
10:49 don't feel comfortable like actually
10:52 like because usually like I'll do like a
10:54 like I like to do for like a my biggest
10:56 like I'll choose a big lift and I'll do
11:00 like sets of like five to eight um um
11:02 and and like I don't feel comfortable
11:04 like actually pushing that that's what
11:07 I'll do like sets of 10 sure that's I'll
11:08 with um when you say you're not
11:11 comfortable is that you're physically
11:13 like you you get up to the 5 to eight
11:15 and you can't do it or you're like Nick
11:17 is not comfortable or it's no it's
11:18 usually like I I'm not even thinking
11:20 about it and I go in and I'm starting to
11:23 like do my warm-up sets yeah and then
11:25 like I'll get to a weight that like I'm
11:27 like okay I'm starting to I start to
11:30 feel like okay like
11:32 the buzz the buzz or like apprehension
11:34 or I don't know but I'm not thinking
11:37 about it going into it all the time okay
11:39 so but once you're there I feel you hear
11:41 what I'm asking I'm wondering if you are
11:43 concerned or your body is telling you to
11:45 be concerned different I may be a little
11:47 concerned but I'm not I don't know I'm
11:49 not like going in like l pull Downs are
11:50 going to hurt me sometimes I'm just like
11:51 it's like 4 in the morning and I'm
11:53 working it sounds very interconnected
11:56 but that's okay um you don't do a whole
11:58 lot to relieve it besides putting it
12:00 back into into it comfortable position
12:03 no b no heating pads no tins units I try
12:05 and move but like most movements just
12:07 hurt chin tuck hurt yeah and again if
12:09 you're going to point go ahead and turn
12:11 so the camera got as enough to where
12:13 where would you point most of your oh
12:17 that low okay does it ever move you say
12:18 the muscle sometimes gets tight but do
12:21 you ever feel sharpness Pinoy Pinchy
12:22 anywhere else or is it always it's
12:25 pretty much pin point right there maybe
12:28 one higher than where you were at does
12:31 it go this way at all that's what I was
12:34 saying I like maybe but I don't know I
12:36 can't tell if that's like kind of just
12:39 yeah I I'll hear people say they feel
12:40 like something's under their shoulder
12:41 blade do you ever get that feeling where
12:43 you dig in your cane or your ball to try
12:45 to calm down something deep and
12:48 underneath there or no no okay you can
12:50 turn back around anything else I have't
12:52 ask that you feel like
12:55 telling previous big shoulder injuries
12:58 truly any concussions in soccer anything
12:59 I mean maybe I had a
13:03 concussion in football uh in high school
13:05 okay but no you were never pulled out of
13:07 a game took a month off for concussion
13:10 protocol crazy no I just didn't
13:12 remember my brother missed six weeks of
13:14 school for a concussion no it was more
13:16 like a hit you got out of
13:18 finals I just got hit and I didn't
13:21 remember the game yeah maybe a good
13:23 thing you guys a name you don't know we
13:26 we didn't win a lot so I don't got it um
13:28 no numbness tingling down the hand you
13:31 never feel any weakness um no pay when
13:33 you cough or sneeze nothing like that I
13:35 mean just if the head moves okay have
