Hey, my name is Ty and I'm going to show
you exactly how to find, copy, and
download any YouTube video transcript.
So, this guy's going to be for both
mobile and for desktop. So, no matter
what platform you're using, you'll be
able to quickly and easily find a
transcript from any YouTube video. So,
we're going to start with mobile first
on your mobile device. Step one is to go
into your YouTube app and find the video
that you want to grab the transcript
from. In this example, we will use this
video here from Sunny Leardi. We'll
click into the video itself and then to
find the transcript you'll need to click
on more and this will open up the
description of the video. As you scroll
down you'll see an option for transcript
and then the show transcript button that
you can click on. When you click on the
show transcript button you will see both
the timestamp and the transcription
itself and you can quickly and easily
scroll through it. The only drawback
here is that you cannot copy any of the
text out of the YouTube app. In fact,
you cannot even highlight it and there's
no download option. So, the workaround
for this is to come out of the
description and simply click on the
share icon right here. And here's where
we can grab the URL for the video by
clicking on copy link. Now that we have
the link for the video copied, we can
exit the YouTube app and go into our web
browser. We're going to navigate to tactic
tactic
io/tools/youtube transcript and I'll put
the link for that in the description
below. From here, you're going to paste
in the URL for that video and you're
going to click on get video transcript.
Once it loads up, you'll see right here
at the bottom that the transcript is now
visible and you can in fact download
this or copy it. But you can simply
click on copy and that will copy the
entire transcript to your clipboard.
Now, from here, if you want to save it
on your mobile device, you can come into
an app like maybe your notes app and you
can simply create a new note and paste it
it
in, right? And there's the transcript
right there. Or if you want to get a
summary of it, maybe you can use
something like Chat GPT. You can pop it
in and let Chat GPT do the work, reading
through the transcript and giving you a
summary of it. Really, you can do
whatever you want at this point, but the
point is you need to go to Tactic.io or
another website in order to get the
transcript. Now, for my desktop users,
the process is quite a bit easier. Just
find the video that you want the
transcript from. Click into it and
scroll down and again expand the
description just like we did on mobile.
So, from here, we can see Rob's full
description. If you scroll all the way
down, you'll again see that transcript
option with show transcript button.
Click on the button and on the right
side of the screen, you'll notice that
the transcript pops up. These three
little dots don't let you download it,
but you can toggle on or off the
timestamps as you choose. Now, what I
like to do, because there's really no
simple way to copy all of this out, is
I'll select the first couple of words,
so you can see them highlighted right
here. And then I'll scroll all the way
to the
bottom. And once I'm at the bottom of
the transcript, I will effectively hold
down shift and I will click. And that's
going to highlight all of the text. From
here, you can press control C or command
C on your keyboard, depending on if
you're Mac or Windows. And then at that
point, you have it copied to your
clipboard and you can come into any
other program and you can paste in the
transcript. So maybe you paste it into a
Google Doc or maybe you paste it into
Chat GPT, whatever you like. And that's
pretty much it. Hope this tutorial was
helpful. If you guys have any questions,
leave a comment below or give me any
ideas for how you're using YouTube
transcripts. I'd love to hear from you.
And I'll talk to you guys in the next video.
