This content introduces "Sourcing Links," a tool developed by Dean DeCosta, which is an enhanced version of an open-source intelligence (OSINT) tool originally created by Michael Bazzel. hey everybody it's dean decosta of the
search authority and today we're going
to look at my tool i call it sourcing links

it's a playoff of something that was
created by mr michael basil who is the
open source intelligence book i highly
recommend you get it and basically he
created this thing of oats and tools
um very similar to this in fact um
when i got access to it i noticed a
whole lot of stuff wasn't working and
then there was a lot of stuff that
needed changes and all a bunch of stuff
so i asked him about it and he said sure
go for it knock your socks off um so
what i did i changed it i'd say i
probably kept about 20 of it and then i
added about 80 including some brand new
sections that he didn't have because
this is more recruiting orientated so
let's get going down the road here we're
going to start with search this is just
a general search engine search where you
can search whatever you want i'm going
to put in the word java you populate all
decide which place you want to search
whether it be google bing whatever
emails if you have an email address
you're not sure who it belongs to or you
want us find out again populate all and
boom boom boom boom like i said some of
these were here from michael's a lot of
them i actually put in here or i cleaned
up and there you go so let's do as an
example let's pick on one let's do um
let's pick on
that's them
and open it up and you give it a second
or two or three or four it says oops
humanity check
sometimes it does that and there we go
right there very first one is me i even
have says i'm on facebook got my email
the next one is
it could be me too but my old dress it
is me as my adjusted as my wife so boom done
done
um so there you go that's that one next
up is facebook i'm not going to go into
these but there's a whole bunch of ways
to search facebook whole bunch of ways
to serve twitter
excuse me search twitter instagram
instagram
linkedin of course you need to be signed
in for the top section real names now
this is cool you have the real name of
somebody now so let's say you're on
linkedin find somebody trying to find
info you could put their name here now a
lot of times it's going to be more than
one person so you got to kind of find
another way to determine which ones
which a lot of times they list when they
graduate high school or when they
graduate college you can make some
logical presumptions of age based on
that which is always helpful so let's do
uh two people search for starter one so
obviously there's seven of me
uh now my last name is actually
two words decosta but most systems don't
accept it that way so you gotta do one
word that's why i did so let's see top
person 56 um if you look at my linkedin
profile you would know i'm not 56
unknown and plus i don't live in maine
here we are right here
view details we are going to come over
here and view the human test because
lord knows i have to be human
uh and i'm looking for a truck
keep in mind like i said i'm i i'm not
seeing very well right now and i got to
do it twice evidently evidently they
don't think i know what a truck looks
like after all these years 50 some odd
years i don't know what truck looks like
anyway and here we go validation it's me
here's a whole bunch of phone numbers of
which all but
actually they all were me at one time or another

and then there's a bunch of emails
that's me that's me that's my brother
that was me that's me that's not me
that's me so most of them are me this
one here is related to a social site
that i've been on but i don't do
anything with it anymore
so there you go so moving on down usernames

this is the idea that
human beings are creatures of habit if
they have a username they use for
facebook linkedin twitter whatever
they're going to use in other sites and
this lets you see if whether the site
say username is being used and they can
go to those sites to see if it's the
same person we're not going to go into
it telephone number same thing telephone
telephone telephone
images basically a image search you'll
find that um
these some of these work much better
than um
than just plain old google so like one
of the things i do is i prefer search terms
terms because
because
i want to sorry i want to know
you know like if i put my name in there

and do that to dean and we already know
it's going to be two words uh and i do
not have a populate all feature for this
bottom bunch so you're just gonna have
to go and paste so i'm gonna grab a
couple of these we'll do a twitter
and then a pic search we'll do those so
let's start with pic search
based on dean de gaza and boom there's a
bunch of now see that is me
the rest of them are not me but the
first one this one here is me so what
would happen if we twerty or just
separate the last names this one site
might work better that way no we're
getting my cousin from portugal who
plays on the portugal national soccer team

okay so stick here but it doesn't matter
you did find me so that means you can
find other places on that let's go with uh
uh
the google the google and boom like
those are all me that's me that's me

don't remember who did that that's me
that's me boom boom boom you get the
general idea so there you go done over
next document suggested document search
engine as we know most resumes are
written in
one of a few formats ie
pdfs docs
rtf's text whatever we're going to
populate all and we're going to go out
there under the pd of apps and let's see
if i send you pdf resume android
developer well guess what if we come
down here there's android developer
resumes now what i would do here and you
come down here there are more is and
probably get rid of the word sample and
example but that's okay
we you get the idea pasting sites these
are sites where
um developers usually use them to
temporarily put information and then
they usually get try to uh they usually
uh get rid of it but in a lot of cases
they don't so we're gonna put down java
gmail and then developer and we're gonna
click and boom right there very first
one shell script java i don't see an
email there are five of them there's one
right there boom boom email
so there we go
communities are the lesser-known
communities um
don't laugh at ebay i put my resume out
there once got job offers i just did it
to see what would happen locations

we're gonna skip this session because
that's where you're gonna spend most of
your time then we're gonna do word
lookup just basically in case you don't
know what a word means you basically
punch it in and decide we'll do java as
a tech term
and there you go hot java is a high
level programming language uh java is
similar to c plus plus blah blah blah
blah blah blah
sorry i kind of not here's the how-to
which is where i let you guys know that
some of this came from michael basil's
and links to other pages and information
i have my own books everything and then
here's where you're going to spend your
time this is the um
the ps2 resistance the mic drop whatever
you'd like to call it this is where it
all happens so we're going to put in the
word java
and we're going to put in the word java
developer and we're going to populate so
let's start with x-ray zoom we're going
to x-ray zoom and we're going to look
look at all those java developers now i
know you're thinking well i don't have
emails and phone numbers if you pay
resume you're only getting their work
stuff i mean let's get real guys come on
let me help you out first name dot last
name for oracle we can figure this out
pretty easily and of course you can use
instant data scraper to scrape all the
data get it out put it wherever you want
and you're good to go let's move on down
the highway from zoom info i'm not going
to hit the mall i'm going to hit few and
let's go to this one this is facebook
now this one is interesting because i'm
picking on um
amazon i'm trying to find people at
amazon and so i would automatically when
i do this search is go to the end and
remove that but keep in mind these are
searches that i'm pulling up are what i
call base searches you can once you're
in you can change them to anything you
want this is just to get you started
um and now all of a sudden we're going
to get a few more people we got seattle
we got engineer we got that now the big
thing here what's interesting is because
it is facebook usually you're not going
to get things like tech skills like java
it's just not going to happen because
that's just not the way to do it so i
would actually get rid of java one of
the reasons why i
picked to pick on amazon is because most
of their developers and engineers are
java people that's what they do so now
let's open up
bam 1900
people who are engineers seattle mainly
software and i can guarantee you they
have java because they work for amazon
that's how you can get around that in
facebook you kind of pick companies that
are very specific technologies so let's
move on down the highway here i'm not
going to look at all of them it's going
to look for you let's do linkedin so
here we're looking for amazon developer
in this case we have the word developer
again in java so that doesn't really
hurt us and we got 45 000 so there are a
boatload of them so what we can do if we
really want to be cute about since we
really don't need that second developer
let's go ahead and add in gmail.com i
didn't spell it right sorry
gmail.com and let's get rid of the
second developer we don't need five of
them and let's try it again now now we
got one bound three another who have
gmail email addresses somewhere in their
profile they may not be right here
visible you may have to go into them to
see them
not bad not bad at all
keep in mind you can also use bing
search these things so just because you
know you get this here it doesn't mean
you don't want to take that same exact
string maybe uh even though we do know that
that
it may be a little bit different in bing
because bing may not recognize all those
different uh
boolean operas let's go if you now see
again we got more um it worked it's
getting us what we want so there you go
and there's some gmail email addresses
right there so there you go moving on
down the highway um you'll see here boom
boom boom just a whole bunch of them i'm
not going to go into every one of them
because just use too many of them
diversity ones uh linkedin githubs query
zings ming bing skings contact out i
love me some contact out because i think
contract out is the most hilarious thing
in the world because it's a paid site
and let me tell you how hilarious it is

here's why i think this is hilarious so
we got their name we know where they
live we know
where they work okay so we figure out
the working well here's this starts with
z ends with a d and it starts with a z
and ends with a d at there what do you
want to guess what their email is i'll
help you it's either first initial last
name or first name last name or first
name dot last name more than likely
could be underscore but that's rare look
the one above it z whatever five at
yahoo well what do you want to bet it's
some combination of his name five
gee that's you know not exactly hard to
figure out and they do that over and
over in every one they they do this
here's another one k six so
some do with the first name maybe last
name six there's only gonna be four or
five possibilities you test them you're
gonna find the right one let's do this

this is easy starts with n ends with an
s well it could be first name
could be first name last name could be
first initial last name there's only
four or five combinations guys it's not
gonna be hard to figure out
um that's one of the things i which i
think is hilarious about contact others
they give you enough to figure it out

a few dozen times so there you go that's
how my tool works it can be found on the
ssar page basically you're going to go
to the ssar page which by now everybody
should know where it's at you're going
to wait till it opens because it takes a
moment to because there's so much stuff
um and you're going to come right down
here to buy which says myosin tool and
that's where you're going to get it from
if something doesn't work you let me
know and i'll figure out why i am adding
stuff to it from time to time although
not as much
this is the tool i am sharing
this i have my own version of tool which
is substantially bigger but has a lot
more ocean stuff in it
deeper oats and stuff but there you go
