0:04 good evening constant reader tonight we
0:06 continue our history of Jerusalem's lot
0:09 in our previous installment we covered
0:12 the origins of this mysterious Village
0:16 leading up to the late 18th century in
0:19 which a cult leader named James Boone
0:23 somehow engineered The Disappearance of
0:27 the entire population and if things seem
0:30 bad in the 1700s rest assured constant
0:40 [Music]
0:55 after The Disappearance of the entire
0:59 town Robert Boone fled South to
1:01 Massachusetts leaving behind his diary
1:04 written in code
1:08 later Phillips adult son Randolph Boone
1:11 inherited chapelweight Manor which by
1:14 that time the residents of preacher's
1:18 Corners believed to be cursed and they
1:21 believe the curse extended to the Boone
1:24 Family itself servants and townsfolk
1:28 agreed no Boone would find peace in chapelweight
1:29 chapelweight
1:33 blood called out to blood
1:37 by 1816 Randolph's Wife disappeared
1:40 leaving behind her husband and two young
1:44 children Stephen and Marcella some years
1:46 later when Marcella was a young woman
1:49 there was a terrible accident in the
1:52 cellar apparently Marcela tripped and
1:55 fell down the stairs breaking her neck
1:59 though some believe she was pushed
2:02 perhaps shocked by this sudden tragedy
2:04 or perhaps because he felt responsible
2:07 for her death marcelo's father hanged
2:11 himself over the body of his deceased
2:14 daughter at least that's one Theory
2:17 another tale told back and forth among
2:19 the cleaning ladies in the town square
2:22 of preacher's Corners is that they were
2:26 victims of an insane yet seductive evil
2:29 that lurked within the very walls of the manor
2:30 manor
2:33 we do know from family testimony that
2:35 after Stephen Boone became the sole
2:38 owner of chapelweight he never removed
2:41 the Noose that strangled his father the
2:44 Rope remained dangly in the cellar for decades
2:46 decades
2:49 now Master of the manor Stephen Boone
2:51 lived a solitary life
2:54 although he was considered kind by his
2:57 few servants he was reclusive and spent
3:00 much of his time and money collecting
3:03 strange and ornate furniture with
3:06 bizarre decorative flourishes and
3:09 elaborate Greek Garden statuaries that
3:12 were simply covered up by the wilderness
3:15 it is possible that Stephen like his
3:18 forefathers became obsessed with his
3:21 family's past meanwhile Stephen's cousin
3:23 Charles Boone was living in
3:26 Massachusetts experiencing his own hardship
3:27 hardship
3:31 in 1848 Charles's wife passed away and
3:34 he nearly lost his own life while
3:37 suffering from brain fever a year and a
3:40 half later still in recovery Charles
3:43 received the sad news that Stephen had
3:47 died from a fall off of the porch of
3:51 chapelweight Manor now Charles was the
3:54 sole Heir the only known member of the
3:57 Boone family and now the new owner of
4:00 chapelweight in the fall of 1850 Charles
4:03 Boone moved in assisted by his loyal
4:06 servant Calvin McCann
4:10 in less than a month both men would be dead
4:10 dead
4:13 the authorities believe that Charles's
4:16 brain fever returned and his resulting
4:20 Insanity led to murder and then suicide
4:23 however there are letters written by
4:25 Charles Boone that paint a very
4:28 different and far more disturbing picture
4:29 picture
4:31 Charles's correspondence with his friend
4:35 Everett bones grandson begins with his
4:38 arrival at chapelweight on October 2nd 1850.
4:40 1850.
4:43 the first letter is cheerful in tone
4:46 though Charles does point out that his
4:49 late cousin's Decor of chapelweight is
4:51 not to his taste
4:54 in subsequent letters however it becomes
4:57 clear that Chapo wait is a malevolent
5:00 house there are noises from behind the
5:03 walls which could be written off as a
5:06 rat infestation and yet there is not a
5:09 single rat dropping to be found upon
5:12 searching the house Calvin discovered a
5:15 secret compartment in a bookshelf in
5:18 which they found an old map of the
5:21 abandoned town of Jerusalem's lot
5:24 inspired by a sense of mystery and
5:27 Adventure the two men journeyed into the
5:29 woods to find this town
5:34 all of the buildings were still standing
5:37 just as they had been the day its
5:40 residents disappeared in the 1700s
5:43 according to his letter to Bones Charles
5:46 and Calvin entered the church and were
5:50 horrified to find demonic tapestries and
5:52 upside down cross
5:56 and upon the altar the infamous book The
5:58 Mysteries of the worm
6:01 the two men departed feeling ill at ease
6:04 and eventually Charles tries to
6:07 investigate further by asking his
6:09 cleaning lady more about the mysterious town
6:11 town
6:13 he is told that he should leave
6:16 chapelweight immediately ultimately
6:19 however Charles was consumed by
6:22 curiosity and a moral obligation to end
6:25 whatever evil might be connected to his
6:28 family tree according to his letters he
6:30 discovered a cryptic Diary of Robert
6:33 Boone which uncovered the town's cultish history
6:34 history
6:38 days later in the cellar he and Calvin
6:42 encountered a ghoulish Apparition of his
6:45 dead uncle and his cousin Marcella
6:48 according to this account the two men
6:52 witness a wall opening up to reveal a
6:55 hellish landscape and on top of all of
6:57 these nightmarish visions
7:02 Charles takes ill and feels too weak to
7:04 leave the manor
7:06 in his final correspondence
7:09 Charles becomes determined to travel
7:13 once again to the abandoned church in
7:17 Jerusalem's lot and burn the evil book
7:19 according to the letter Calvin joined
7:22 him and both men are shocked to discover
7:25 that someone else or something else has
7:28 been inside the church
7:31 they discovered the decapitated head of
7:35 a lamb placed on the altar its blood
7:39 glazing the pages of the book
7:42 if the writing of Charles Boone is to be
7:45 believed what follows next is a moment
7:49 of pure Cosmic horror
7:53 the floor broke open spilling into an
7:56 abyss from out of which came the oozing
7:59 rings of a gigantic worm
8:02 the Flesh of that monstrous worm struck
8:05 Calvin McCann throwing him across the
8:07 room and snapping at the poor man's neck
8:10 he died instantly
8:12 Charles managed to light a match and
8:14 burn the book
8:17 then and only then the gargantuan
8:20 creature shriveled back into its pit
8:23 again authorities believe that none of
8:26 these events took place except in the
8:29 mind of Charles Boone eventually the
8:31 body of Calvin McCain was discovered however
8:33 however
8:36 there was no hole in the floor of the church
8:37 church
8:41 no damage to the floorboards no sign of
8:43 a monstrous Beast
8:44 in the end
8:48 Charles Boone fled the scene claiming to
8:50 have glimpsed the undead corpse of James
8:54 Boone crawling toward him ready to drag
8:56 him into darkness
8:58 to many who have studied the letters of
9:01 chapelweight Charles's last paragraphs
9:04 to his friend serve as a final farewell
9:06 and a suicide note
9:09 after returning to chapelweight Charles
9:12 decided that because he is the last
9:15 surviving Boon he must end the curse of
9:18 Jerusalem's lot by ending his own life
9:20 and after setting down his pin and paper
9:24 Charles flung himself off a cliff and
9:26 into the sea
9:30 however his sacrifice may have been in
9:32 vain for Believe It or Not
9:36 Unfortunate Events continued to occur
9:38 within the vicinity of Jerusalem's lot
9:43 in fact Charles Boone was not the last
9:45 member of his family
9:48 that honor belonged to James Robert
9:53 Boone who on October 2nd of 1971
9:55 took up residence in his ancestral home
9:57 of chapelwaite
