The core theme is that human problems are not solved by external efforts or human intellect alone, but by realizing and consciously connecting with the ever-present divine presence within, referred to as the "Christ," which is our true identity and the source of all power and harmony.

Now we have learned that the great
difficulty in human life is not the
appearance of problems
but the belief that we must solve them
from the standpoint of our own humanood.
The first thing we must realize
and this is the very foundation of our
work is that the presence of God is an
ever available reality.
It is not a presence that comes and
goes. It is not a presence that is more
available in a church or on a
mountaintop than it is in the
marketplace or in the midst of a storm.
It is here
where we are regardless of the circumstance.
circumstance.
This is the truth that must be grasped
not intellectually
but in the very depths of our being. We
must come to see that the time of
trouble is not the time to turn away
from God in despair wondering why he has
allowed this to happen.
No, it is the precise moment to turn
within to reach out with the inner hand
of faith to that which is ever present,
ever available, ever operative.
Think of it this way. If your house were
on fire, would you run away from the
fire department?
If you were drowning,
would you push away the life preserver?
Of course not. And yet, in the fires of
disease, in the floods of lack
in the hurricanes of human relationship problems,
problems,
that is exactly what the human mind does.
does.
It runs from the one source of its salvation.
salvation.
It becomes so engrossed in the flames,
so mesmerized by the rising water that
it forgets the truth of its own being.
It forgets that there is a rock, a high
place of consciousness
that is untouched by any temporal condition.
condition.
The problem itself is the signal, the
bell that rings in our consciousness
reminding us now.
Now is the time to remember the truth.
Now is the time to be still and know the
problem is not our enemy. It is our
school master pointing out where we have
been looking for substance and reality
in the external world and directing us
back to the one and only source. Now
Now
this brings us to a point of transition,
a shift in understanding that is crucial.
crucial.
We move from the concept of a god
external to us, a god in the skies, a
god we must plead with and appease to
the realization of the Christ.
The Christ,
this is a term that has been so misunderstood,
misunderstood,
so limited by theological doctrine.
When I speak of the Christ, I am not
speaking of the man Jesus,
wonderful as he was.
Jesus was the great example, the great
witness who demonstrated the Christ so
perfectly that he became one with it. He
said, "I and my father are one." But he
also said, "He that believeth on me, the
works that I do shall he do also,
and greater works than these shall he do."
do."
He was not pointing to his personal
self, but to the spirit of God that
animated him, that dwelt in him. That
was his very life and substance.
That same spirit is the Christ, your own
true identity,
the gentle presence, the still small
voice. It is the Christ that is the
reality of you.
It is not something you will become if
you are good enough or holy enough or if
you meditate long enough.
It is the very core of your being. Now
I live yet not I but Christ liveth in
me. Do you see the profound truth in
that statement?
The eye that you have always thought of
as yourself with its fears, its
limitations, its opinions, its aches and
pains is not the ultimate reality.
There is a deeper eye, a spiritual eye,
the eye of you, which is the Christ.
This is not something to be analyzed
with the mind.
The intellect will rebel against this.
It will say, "Prove it.
Show me.
But the Christ cannot be proven on the
level of the intellect any more than you
can prove the beauty of a sunset. To a
man who insists on only looking at a
mathematical formula for light. It must
be accepted intuitively.
It must be felt. It must be known in the silence.
silence.
This is why the great mystics have
always pointed to the inner journey.
It is an act of faith, yes, but a faith
that is rewarded with experience.
You take this truth. I can do all things
through Christ which strengthenth me,
not as a lovely sentiment to be framed
on a wall, but as a literal scientific
fact of your being.
You cannot do all things through your
human will, through your personal intellect,
intellect,
through your physical strength. You know
this from experience,
your body tires, your mind reaches its
limit. Your resources run out.
But through the Christ, through that
infinite invisible spiritual substance
and power that is your life,
there is no limit. There is no fatigue.
There is no depletion.
The challenge is that we have been
conditioned to live from the outside in.
We look to external conditions to
determine our inner state. If the bank
account is full, we are happy. If the
body is healthy, we are at peace. If
people praise us, we feel worthy. This
is the great illusion, the great
deception. The truth is the exact
opposite. The Christ within is the determinant.
determinant.
It is the substance. It is the life.
When we touch that the outer world must
conform. It has no choice for it is but
a shadow in effect.
Now let us look at the world we seem to
live in.
The prophet Daniel spoke of the great
image a symbol of the temporal kingdoms
that appear to have power and dominion
over human life.
We can understand these as the four
temporal kingdoms that seem to rule us.
They are not evil in themselves,
but they become tyrannical when we give
them power.
When we believe they are the cause and
we are the effect.
The first kingdom is the kingdom of
matter of the physical body and the
physical universe.
This includes disease, germs, viruses,
accidents, the very atoms and molecules
that make up our form.
The world believes in the power of germs
to make it sick.
In the power of a virus to create a
pandemic, in the power of a faulty gene
to determine our destiny.
The second kingdom is the kingdom of time.
time.
The calendar, the clock, age, the belief
that we are growing older, that time is
running out, that there is not enough
time. The third kingdom is the kingdom
of Mammon, of money and finance.
The belief that our security, our peace,
our very survival
depends on an external supply, on a job,
on a market, on an economy.
The fourth kingdom is the kingdom of
mental and psychic forces.
The thoughts of others, the collective
consciousness of fear, of hate, of suggestion,
suggestion,
the very atmosphere of human thinking
that seems to press upon us. These are
the four temporal kingdoms.
They appear as solid as iron,
as real as the ground beneath our feet.
And human beings spend their entire
lives fighting these kingdoms trying to
cure the disease,
beat the clock, accumulate the money,
and defend themselves against the
thoughts of others.
It is a exhausting losing battle
for you are fighting effects, not cause.
You are trying to rearrange the shadows
on the wall without touching the light
that casts them.
But the prophet Daniel also revealed the solution.
solution.
He saw a stone cut out without hands
that smokeote the image and broke it
into pieces. And the stone became a
great mountain and filled the whole earth.
earth.
This stone cut out without hands is the Christ.
Christ.
It is not a human creation.
It is not a product of positive thinking
or mental science.
It is the activity of God, the divine
intervention of spirit in your consciousness.
consciousness.
When the Christ is realized,
it does not necessarily destroy the
forms of the temporal kingdoms, but it
subdues them.
It strips them of their power to harm,
to frighten, to dominate.
It makes them servants. Consider electricity.
electricity.
Electricity in the wire is a powerful,
even deadly force.
But when it is understood, when it is
harnessed, it becomes a servant. It
lights our homes, powers our tools,
communicates our words. The electricity
itself has not changed, but our
relationship to it has. It is no longer
a master. It is a servant.
So it is with the Christ.
When the Christ is realized, the germ is
no longer a masterbringing disease. It
becomes a servant,
perhaps performing some function in the
ecological balance.
But it cannot trespass on the harmony of
your body,
which is now understood as the temple of
the living God.
Money is no longer a master that you
serve with fear and trembling. It
becomes a servant,
a form of currency for the expression of
divine ideas. And you find that your
supply comes not from a job or an investment
investment
but from the infinite reservoir of
divine consciousness which manifests as
the human form of supply you need.
Time is no longer a master hurrying you
to your grave. It becomes a servant. You
take mastership of the clock.
You are no longer a slave to the
calendar, to age, to the belief of not
enough time.
You live in the eternal now.
And your work is accomplished in divine
order, without pressure, without hurry.
This is not a theory.
This is the demonstrated experience of
thousands upon thousands of students of
the infinite way.
It is the rock, the Christ that smites
the image of temporal power and reveals
it as nothingness.
It has no power, no law, no cause, no reality
reality
except the reality, you give it through
your belief in it.
When you withdraw that belief, when you
turn to the Christ within, the external
picture must change.
It may change instantly as in a sudden
healing or it may change gradually as
your consciousness is cleansed of the
deep seated beliefs of a lifetime.
But it will change. The law is immutable.
immutable.
So how do we achieve this contact?
How do we make this transition from
being a victim of the temporal kingdoms
to being the master through the Christ?
The answer is meditation.
Not a complicated arduous meditation of
the orient requiring years in a cave.
But a simple gentle frequent turning
within. This is the practical method.
This is the threeinut meditation. that
can heal everything
because it is not the length of time
that does the healing. It is the contact
with the source of all harmony.
The healing is not in the meditation.
The healing is in the Christ that is
realized in the meditation.
Let me be very practical and personal
with you.
In my own experience,
it was not an overnight transformation.
I had to persist.
There was a period in my life where I
dedicated myself to this practice and
for 8 months it seemed as if nothing was happening.
happening.
The outer picture remained the same. The
temptations to believe in the power of
the temporal kingdoms were strong.
But I persisted.
I took many many short periods during
the day.
I did not wait for a holy hour in the
morning or evening.
I took mastership of the clock.
While waiting for a bus for 3 minutes,
I would turn within.
Between patients in my office, I would
close the door for two minutes and be
still. Before a meal for one minute, I
would acknowledge the presence. I was
not praying for anything.
I was not making affirmations or denials.
denials.
I was being still. I was listening.
I was turning my attention away from the
outer world of effects and resting it on
the inner reality of the Christ.
I would sit, perhaps close my eyes, and
just be quiet.
If thoughts of the world came, I would
not fight them. I would just gently let
them go like clouds passing in the sky
and return my attention to the silence,
to the feeling of a gentle presence.
Sometimes I would inwardly say, "Speak,
Lord, for thy servant heareth." Or I
would just rest in the truth. Thou art
here. It is not a mental activity. It is
a mental stillness. It is a surrendering.
surrendering.
It is a letting go. It is a consent for
God to be God in you. And then after a
time, it may be weeks, it may be months,
something begins to happen.
An inner hearing develops. It is not a
physical voice, but an intuitive
knowing, a certainty,
a divine impulse, an inner seeing
awakens. You begin to perceive the
spiritual reality behind the appearance.
You see the Christ in your fellow man
even when his humanood is acting out.
You see the substance behind the form of supply.
supply.
You see the harmony behind the
appearance of disease.
This is the fruit of meditation.
This is the evidence of the Christ
activity in your consciousness.
And from this place of inner communion,
you go through your day not as a
helpless human but as a transparency for
the divine.
You are not doing the work. The father
within is doing the work.
You are not solving the problem. The
Christ is revealing the problem as illusion.
illusion.
You are not healing the body. The
harmony of your true being is being made manifest.
manifest.
Do not be discouraged if the results are
not immediate.
The human mind, like a rusty gate,
needs to be used in a new way. It has
been swinging outward for a lifetime.
It takes a little practice to make it
swing inward. But every time you turn
within for even 30 seconds, you are
oiling that hinge.
You are loosening it. You are
establishing a new rhythm of life. And
one day you will find that you can slip
into that sacred space at will
in the midst of noise in the midst of turmoil
turmoil
and find that perfect peace that passes
all understanding.
That peace is not the absence of
trouble. It is the presence of God.
And in that presence, no trouble can exist.
exist.
This is the ultimate goal, my friends.
It is dominion. Dominion over all
aspects of human life.
It means that you walk through this
world, but you are not of it.
You use the things of this world, but
you are not used by them.
You have a body,
but you are not a body.
You have a mind, but you are not a
mortal mind. You are the Christ, the son
of the living God.
And this dominion extends even to the
final transition from this plane of existence.
existence.
The world calls it death and fears it as
the great enemy,
the final kingdom of temporal power.
But I am here to tell you that to the
consciousness that has touched the
Christ, there is no death. There is only
a progression, a moving on to a new and
more expansive experience of life. There
is no extinction.
How could there be? You are life itself.
You are eternal life here and now. So
there is no hurry. Do not be anxious.
Do not feel you must achieve some high
state by tomorrow.
Spiritual maturity is what counts, not
longevity or youth.
It is the quality of your consciousness
that matters.
A life lived in the constant moment by
moment remembrance of God is a
successful life. Whether it is 20 years
or a 100red years.
A life lived in fear and materiality is
a tragedy no matter how long it lasts.
Rest in this assurance you are on the path.
path.
The very desire for this contact is
proof that the Christ within is stirring
is calling you home.
So let us be still for a moment.
Let us practice right now.
Let there be no thought of a problem to
be solved, no desire for a thing to be gained.
gained.
Just let go. Let the body relax. Let the
mind become quiet.
And in this silence, no, just know that
you are not alone. The gentle presence
is here.
The still small voices speaking in the
language of spirit.
I am with you always. The Christ is your
life. Feel that. Accept that. Rest in that.
that.
I will go in peace. And remember, take
these few minutes times a day
and you will find that you are not
healing everything. You are discovering
that in the Christ,
everything is already whole, already
perfect, already complete.
And as we rest in this silence, you may
feel a question arising.
Is it really this simple?
Can a few moments of quietness truly
rearrange the universe?
And the answer, the divine answer that
comes from the depths of being
is that it is not the moments that do
the work, but the presence that you are
acknowledging in those moments.
You see, the sun is always shining. If
you go into a cave and remain there for
days, you may begin to believe in the
reality of darkness and cold.
But the moment you take one step out of
the cave, you are instantly in the light
and warmth that were always there.
Your one step did not create the sun.
Your one step merely removed you from
the place where you were denying it.
So it is with this meditation.
You are not creating God.
You are not summoning a power from a distance.
distance.
You are for 3 minutes stepping out of
the cave of your own thoughts,
your own fears, your own beliefs in the
temporal kingdoms. And you are standing
in the ever present reality of spirit.
And in that light everything is transformed.
transformed.
The healing that takes place is not like
a medicine that attacks a disease.
It is the dawning realization that there
never was a disease in reality only in
the belief of the human mind.
When you turn on the light in a room,
you do not have to push the darkness out.
out.
The darkness was never a substance.
It was merely the absence of light.
And so it is with any form of discord.
It is but a shadow, an absence of the
conscious awareness of harmony. Your
meditation is the act of turning on the
light of Christ consciousness.
And in that light, the shadows of
disease, lack, and fear simply cease to
have any reality for you. They may
linger for a moment as an after image on
the retina of your human experience,
but they are recognized as illusions,
and they dissolve for lack of your faith
in them.
Let me share with you a deeper insight
into how this works. In the practical
daily round,
you get a letter in the mail. It brings
news of a financial reversal.
The human mind, the old man, immediately
leaps into action.
It calculates, it worries, it fears, it plans,
plans,
it schemes. It feels a knot in the stomach.
stomach.
This is the automatic reaction of living
in the temporal kingdom of Mammon. But you
you
as a student of the infinite way have
been practicing.
You feel the knot begin to form and you
recognize it for what it is a signal. It
is the bell ringing. It is not a signal
to start human planning. It is the
signal to stop
to be still. You take your three minutes.
minutes.
You go inside.
You are not going inside to pray for money.
money.
You are not going inside to affirm your
abundance. You are going inside to
realize the presence. You quietly
acknowledge my peace, my supply, my
identity are not in this letter. They
are in thee.
And you rest there. You listen. And then
from that silence, an inner hearing may
give you an impulse. It may be a simple
practical idea. Call this person.
Or look at this overlooked opportunity
or it may simply be a deep abiding sense
of peace that tells you all is well.
The key is that the action, if there is
one, now comes from a place of inspired
wisdom, not fearful reaction.
The action is harmonious, effective, and
often leads to a solution you could
never have devised with your frantic
human mind.
Or sometimes
the outer picture miraculously
rearranges itself without any action on
your part at all.
The letter was a mistake. A new source
of income appears unexpectedly.
This is the rock, the Christ, smiting
the image. The temporal kingdom of
Mammon is shown to be without real power
or law.
Your supply is revealed as a constant
spiritual flow from the infinite within.
And the outer form must conform to this
inner realization.
The same is true with the body. A pain
appears. The human mind says, "I am sick.
sick.
I must do something about this
sickness." It runs to medicine, to
doctors, to fear. But you, you have
learned to take dominion.
You feel the pain and you acknowledge it
as a sensation,
but you do not accept it as your master.
You do not accept its verdict. You take
your three minutes.
You close your eyes. You turn away from
the body. You turn to the Christ. You
silently know
this body is the temple of the living
God. It is animated by spirit and spirit
is harmony.
I rest in this truth. You don't fight
the pain.
You look past it. You look through it to
the reality of being. You may feel a
warmth, a tingling, a sense of peace.
And when you open your eyes, the pain
may be gone. Or its power to frighten
you may be gone.
You have touched the rock.
You have connected with the kingdom that
is not of this world. And the temporal
kingdom of matter must bow. The germ,
the virus, the malfunction is stripped
of its authority.
It may remain as a form, but it is a
neutralized form, a servant, and its
disruptive activity ceases.
This is how we live. This is how we move
through this world.
Not as victims, but as masters.
Not through human will, but through
spiritual surrender.
We are not positive thinkers. We are
spiritual beings.
Positive thinking is still on the level
of the human mind trying to rearrange
