My name is Carel Hoytema. Within Renewi I'm responsible for our business process
management department and with this team we are aiming to document, harmonize
and optimize our business processes globally to help our operations better support our overall
strategy. We are in an industry that is heavily undergoing a transformation
from what we call a linear economy ,where we are used to dispose products after single use,
into a circular economy. In our market-facing strategy we are focusing more on a shift from
our waste collection capabilities to our sorting and processing capabilities with which we enable
our company to recycle more than 65 percent of our incoming waste and we have just
deployed a strategy to increase that rate to 75 percent of everything we collect. We are also
faced with an internal transformation. On the one hand we are focusing on digitizing our operations
to enable our customers to interact with Renewi 24/7 through a state-of-the-art
digital platform and on the other hand we are working on optimizing and harmonizing our
operations towards more efficiency and increase our customer, supplier and employee experience.
What I like most about Mavim is that it is an intelligent transformation platform
that people already know how to use. It's a Microsoft based platform. Everyone knows how
to use Word, Visio, Excel, Power BI, Powerpoint. So this makes it really intuitive and when people
start using it and actually understand it then you have buy-in of everyone and they actually want to
work in the platform and that I think is one of the strongest points of any platform. The most
essential element of transformation is information and knowledge and the ability to share knowledge.
And the issues we were facing was that all of the knowledge within Renewi was documented in
widespread documents in knowledge repositories. Causing our employees to experience difficulties
in finding required knowledge and also causing us as an organization difficulties to estimate
our transformation efforts and to set out a clear direction and vision and road map towards where we
want to go because you can only determine where you want to go if you really know where you are
now. And this is where Mavim comes in. So we use Mavim to create one single source of information
where everyone, based on his or her role, if it's from executive level to down on the work floor can
find a relevant piece of information. And we are now able to support all of this knowledge
with fact-based information which changes our let's say change management or transformation
discussions because we have now based on fact-based data insights in the actual situation
versus how we have perceived how it should be and that is helping us tremendously in getting
faster to our intended transformation results and our benefits realization.
