0:04 Respected chief guest and consulate
0:06 general Mr. Anur
0:11 Bushin. Respected guest Mr. Mangesh Dahi
0:14 who has arrived from India this morning
0:16 to specially deliver a speech on this special
0:17 special
0:21 occasion. Respected senior citizens who
0:23 are present in this auditorium and my
0:26 dear friends, a very good morning to all.
0:28 all.
0:31 First of all, I would like to thank all
0:34 of you for giving me such a wonderful
0:39 opportunity to speak in front of so many
0:42 people. Really, it means a
0:47 lot. I'm really delighted to say that I
0:50 always love to speak whenever the topic
0:54 or subject is about Dr. Dr.
0:57 Bedkar because this subject is actually
1:01 very close to my heart. Dr.
1:05 BRKar you know whenever people talk
1:06 about Dr.
1:09 Raedkar they always limit him to a
1:12 leader of the downtrodden
1:14 people. They always limit him to a
1:17 leader of the Dalits. Is that he was
1:20 limited for only this work or the
1:23 introductions people have about
1:26 him. He was the principal architect of
1:28 the Indian constitution.
1:32 Well, that of course is the truth, but
1:33 it would not be
1:36 confined and he was more than what
1:39 people know about him. Even today after
1:43 so many years, Dr. Ambedkar is still not
1:47 fully understood or appreciated by the
1:49 general masses. What people talk about
1:53 him as the masiah of the downroden as a
1:56 chief architect of the Indian
1:58 constitution is very well the
2:02 truth but it would be incomplete to say
2:07 just that he was truly a multi-talented
2:15 giant he was an economist by
2:18 training he was an anthropologist
2:20 ologist. He was a
2:24 sociologist. He was a jurist and he was
2:26 the first law minister of India in Nehu's
2:28 Nehu's [Applause]
2:36 court. These are the various facets of his
2:37 his
2:40 personality which people still do not
2:45 understand. My friends, this is not all.
2:48 He has done so much more. He has made
2:52 many contributions in many other areas
2:54 for the integration of India. With all
2:57 these dimensions in life, he was a true
3:01 nationalist at his core. The famous
3:05 quote, I am first Indian and I'm Indian
3:06 in the
3:09 end and nothing in between. It belongs
3:11 to Dr. Dr. BR
3:14 Ambedkar and it does not belong to
3:17 anybody else. Dr. Baba Sahib Ambedkar
3:18 had before
3:21 him not only the unprivileged people of
3:25 the society but the entire society. Baba
3:28 Sahib always believed in equality. His
3:31 vision of social change and reclamation
3:33 of human
3:37 personality was universal. During his
3:40 lifetime, he made many efforts and he
3:43 used various strategies and
3:47 methods to create a society which was
3:50 based on the values of
4:21 Dr. Ladies did not have the right to equality.
4:58 [Applause] [Music]
5:08 She has all the rights to take her own
5:10 decision to select her own
5:13 groom and these provisions are done into
5:16 the Indian constitution by Dr. Bamekar.
5:19 Ladies were not allowed to take divorce from
5:25 husband. Yes, you heard me right. But
5:28 today the constitution gives all us
5:41 [Applause] [Music]
5:52 bill modern India by doing all these
5:55 provisions into the Indian constitution
5:59 for all the ladies irrespective of cast and
6:00 and
6:11 I am so lucky to be born in independent
6:14 India. I cannot imagine the life which
6:16 my fore mothers and my great
6:18 grandmothers lived before independence.
6:21 Thank you Baba Sahib for all that you
6:24 did for India and for all that you have
6:27 done for the human life. My dear
6:30 friends, celebrating Dr. Ambedkar's birth
6:31 birth
6:34 anniversary is not something for earning merit
6:36 merit
6:39 points. Just like the blind followers
6:47 gurus. This is a big mistake if someone
6:48 thinks it this
6:52 way. At least I am not in the favor of
6:55 this point and I'm sure many of you here
6:58 will agree with me. The real purpose of
7:01 celebrating today of celebrating this
7:04 great occasion to implement and follow
7:08 his teachings in our life. In my
7:10 view we should cherish these
7:13 memories. We should cherish the memory
7:15 of Dr. Babasai
7:18 Bombedkar as he has given all of us here
7:22 a valid philosophy of life. Dr.
7:25 was not only a man of
7:28 intellect, but he was also a man of
7:31 great moral character. He was a
7:36 liberal-minded leader with the ideas of
7:39 democracy, freedom of thoughts and
7:41 expressions. as regards to the
7:43 philosophy of
7:47 life. He was a rationalist,
7:51 secular-minded and a humanist thinker.
7:55 Dr. Bhimra Ambedkar embraced Buddhism to
7:57 gain the basic human rights and
8:00 selfrespect needed. He was totally
8:02 against the inequality of human beings
8:07 and the ideology of Hinduism is nothing
8:10 but the construction of cast system for
8:12 the reason although he was born in the
8:16 Hindu religion he decided to quit he
8:19 decided to embrace Buddhism and he did
8:22 it in 1956. [Applause]
8:30 Why Buddhism from all the religions? Why only
8:31 only
8:34 Buddhism? Buddhism
8:37 because Buddha's teachings are based on
8:41 the values of morality and ethics. It
8:44 has no kind of cast
8:46 discrimination. It has no kind of cast
8:49 system in it. Buddha's teachings are
8:53 modern, rational and contemporary. And
8:54 And
8:58 Buddha makes us think and live by a
9:01 reason. Following Baba Sahab
9:03 Bombedkar, lacks of his followers embrace
9:04 embrace
9:08 Buddhism and they are living a life full
9:11 of selfrespect and dignity. [Applause]
9:14 [Applause]
9:16 Finally, I would like to conclude by
9:18 saying cultivation of
9:22 mind is the ultimate aim of human
9:25 existence. As the mind
9:29 cultivates the seek light of
9:32 knowledge, as knowledge
9:36 comes, they understand Baba Sahib.
9:40 As one understands Baba Sahib, they understand
9:42 understand
9:45 themselves. And as they understand
9:47 themselves, they are on the right path
9:51 of liberation. [Applause]
