0:01 You used to be able to ride your SH on
0:03 downtown and if you see a cop, you could
0:05 [music] say it's electric. Not anymore.
0:07 The police are catching on, which is why
0:09 I'm conducting an experiment. Do these
0:11 pedal ebikes really have what it takes
0:13 to replace our beloved Emotos? Honestly,
0:14 I don't know, which is why I'm making
0:17 this video. The appeal behind Emottos is
0:19 simple. A dirt bike with no clutch that
0:22 you can ride anywhere in silence. Sadly,
0:24 this is no longer true, but I think I
0:25 found the next best thing. The bike
0:27 we're going to be experimenting on today
0:30 is the TST R9, a dual battery 1500 watt
0:32 ebike that's priced around $900. I chose
0:33 this bike because it's more on the
0:35 budget side of things, but still has a
0:36 lot of premium features. These big
0:39 balloon tires and suspension front and
0:40 rear feel nice on the street, and you
0:41 don't have to worry about getting in
0:43 trouble on it because it has a
0:45 headlight, tail light, turn signals,
0:47 which are all controlled by this really
0:49 nice display. The assembly is a little
0:50 bit involved, but that's okay. It always
0:52 feels good to buy and build your very
0:54 own bike, especially in the end when
0:55 you're about to take it on your first
0:57 ride. This bike is already much cheaper
0:59 than any good emoto that you can get.
1:00 We're going to see how it stacks up even
1:02 at this price point. If you are thinking
1:04 about buying this bike, make sure to use
1:06 discount code eboxer to save you some
1:07 money. The link will be in the description.
1:26 I'm a [singing and music] 40
1:29 40
1:31 on my shorty. That's a charie. [music and singing]
1:32 [music and singing]
1:46 All right, guys. We're out on the TSC R9
1:48 Ultra and I gotta say this thing
1:51 definitely rides nice.
1:52 We're about to go meet up with some
1:55 Emotos to see how this thing stacks up.
1:56 And first of all, I do want to say I
1:58 think this is one of the greatest bikes
2:00 in this price range that is street
2:02 legal. Partially because the dual
2:05 batteries, which not only let you ride
2:06 super duper long, I don't really know
2:08 the exact amp hours. I'll throw it up on
2:10 screen right here. But this thing is
2:12 also a wheelie machine because of the
2:13 back battery. It makes the balance
2:15 [music] point really nice and it makes
2:17 it way easier to pop this bike up into a
2:19 wheelie. And if you want to turn it into
2:21 like a full-on wheelie machine, then you
2:23 could take out the front battery and
2:24 only run the rear one. Dude, I haven't
2:26 pedled in such a long time, it's a weird
2:28 feeling. I feel like compared to an
2:30 Emoto, these moped styled ebikes are
2:33 actually not too far off. Of course,
2:35 they're made more for commuting and more
2:37 casual stuff like getting to a friend's
2:40 house. They're not really made to be
2:42 race bikes or fun bikes, but they can
2:43 still be pretty fun. Like right now,
2:45 this is way better than pedaling. And it
2:47 has a throttle compared to some other
2:50 ebikes. I'd say this is a lot more fun.
2:52 What do we got here? An Altus Delta
2:55 Studio. And ooh, he has some dirt wheels
2:57 on it. Oh, shoot. I might have to pump
2:59 that up. All right, our tires came a
3:00 little uh deflated.
3:01 >> Come on, it's a dollar.
3:03 >> This bike's snappy off the line. We're
3:06 riding with Emotos. We're here with the
3:09 Tudio and Altus Delta, a Taria and
3:11 another Toaria. Okay. Wait, how do you
3:12 turn this on? Did it work?
3:15 >> It says pumping.
3:17 >> Do you want to ride the Delta?
3:19 >> Yeah, let's switch, dude. All right,
3:21 guys. We're on the Delta. Oh, it kind of
3:23 feels weird not having pedals. [screaming]
3:24 [screaming]
3:26 This bike's power. Oh, shoot. The brakes
3:27 are good. I'm going to full throttle
3:29 real quick.
3:33 Yeah, this thing's this thing's quick.
3:35 Want to trade back? Yeah, I kind of want
3:39 to get back on the better bike.
3:40 All right, we're pedaling. Holding
3:42 everybody back right now, but we're
3:44 going up the hill. That's why we're
3:46 going on a straight. I should be able to
3:48 hit like 28 cuz I did unlock this thing
3:49 with my phone. It's kind of [music] nice
3:51 to just like pedal. They're ahead of us,
3:53 but we are keeping up. You can
3:54 definitely ride with your friends if
3:56 they have emotos and you have an ebike.
3:57 I think where you're going to be getting
3:59 held back is on some dirt.
4:00 >> No, you got to tight a belt.
4:02 >> You can't really tighten a belt. You
4:03 can't tighten a belt. No, you're good,
4:05 bro. Let's see if we can stop you this bike.
4:08 bike. >> Nope.
4:08 >> Nope.
4:10 >> Why do you actually stop?
4:12 >> Cuz I'm a law abiding citizen. I think
4:14 on like aggressive uh hill climbs,
4:16 that's where you're not going to be able
4:18 to keep up or like some aggressive trail
4:20 riding cuz this thing it's not built for
4:21 that stuff. It's more built for the
4:23 street. But on the street, you may not
4:25 be able to keep up in speed, but like
4:27 you'll be able to keep up in like levels
4:29 of fun. And if you you get good enough,
4:31 you're going to be able to wheelie this
4:32 thing. I can't do that. I'd probably
4:34 recommend a rear brake. I'm leading the
4:36 pack right now on an ebike and a real
4:39 ebike. The dual batteries is really nice
4:42 though cuz I've gone 1.7 miles and I
4:45 still am at basically full battery.
4:47 >> Dude, you guys are now cool. Like if you
4:48 start pedaling then you'll be cool.
4:50 >> Oh, I'm pretty cool, man.
4:51 >> No, dude. Not until you start pedaling.
4:53 But this bike does have some pretty cool
4:54 features. Like it has a headlight and
4:56 tail light. If you hold this, those will
4:58 start working. It's got turn signals
5:02 front and rear. Five modes. And if you
5:03 hit this, you can change between looking
5:05 at your trip mileage and your odometer.
5:07 So far, we've gone 5 miles. I'll check
5:09 the exact percentage that I'm at when I
5:11 get home with the app. We got to pedal
5:13 up the hills, though. Turn on my left
5:23 >> Dude, that lady was not having it. Yo,
5:26 what is she like chasing him? Bro, she
5:28 is on his tail. Oh, bro. Why are you
5:30 guys riding on the opposite side of the road?
5:31 road?
5:32 >> Why are you guys riding on the opposite
5:35 side of the road?
5:36 >> Dude, how are you riding with no gloves?
5:37 >> Do you have a try? >> Me?
5:38 >> Me? >> Yeah.
5:38 >> Yeah.
5:40 >> No. If you don't want to get in trouble
5:42 like these idiots, just get something
5:44 like this. Bro, I'm not going to lie.
5:45 I'm going to head home, dude. It's cold
5:47 as hell. I'll see you guys.
5:50 >> I'm good, bro. All right, we broke off.
5:52 The information that I've concluded from
5:54 that ride is you can definitely keep up
5:56 on a bike like this if you're riding
5:58 with an Emoto. You might even have more
6:00 range than them. But it is going to be
6:02 hard. Like they asked if I wanted to go
6:04 [clears throat] do some trails and I
6:06 said no cuz I'm not going to be keeping
6:07 up on the trails. Like I could
6:09 definitely ride the trails on this bike
6:12 but because of you know an E-OT will
6:13 have better suspension. It will have
6:15 better brakes, but it's also so much
6:17 more expensive, which is why if you're
6:19 cruising, there's literally no point for
6:21 you to get an Emoto. This is way more
6:24 logical and better for commuting cuz
6:25 you're not going to get in trouble. But
6:27 this bike can still do emoto things,
6:30 just not at the same level. Like, it can
6:32 still wheelie, it can still hit jumps,
6:33 you can still hit the dirt. Actually,
6:34 [music] you could you could definitely
6:36 hit some good combos on this. This would
6:38 definitely be better than some of the
6:40 electric pit bikes or electric dirt
6:43 bikes that I have for combos. Ebikes
6:46 like this cannot replace emotos for
6:48 track riding, intensive dirt riding, but
6:50 they can replace [music] them as
6:51 commuters. If you're going to your
6:52 friend's house, if you just want to get
6:54 around, if you're doing not extreme or
6:57 intensive riding, an ebike can certainly
6:59 replace your emoto. But if you're
7:00 looking for something that is good for
7:03 big jumps, high speeds, and just crazy
7:05 stunts, and stuff like that, these moped
7:07 style street legal ebikes are not going
7:11 to be replacing Emotos anytime soon. And
7:12 for them to do that, the laws would have
7:15 to change. 750 watts is the most amount
7:17 of power you can push being street legal
7:20 continuously. Now, I could see a very
7:23 good mountain bike type 750 W ebike, but
7:25 those would be super expensive. They
7:27 wouldn't fall anywhere near this price
7:29 range. A bike like that would be a
7:32 minimum of $2,500. But I think this is a
7:34 great bike in this price range. I've
7:35 really been enjoying my ride. It's got
7:37 some good features with some minimal
7:39 changes. It could be a great wheelie
7:41 machine. And honestly, it's just fun and
7:43 better than getting around by pedaling.
7:45 If you guys are considering buying the
7:48 TST R9 Ultra, make sure you use discount
7:50 code eboxer. And let's see how much
7:54 battery we lost.
7:55 Oo, look at these new lights I got,
7:57 guys. They're going to make my videos so
7:59 much better. They're really bright, too.
8:00 They're not like the real ones. These
8:02 are ripoffs, but they work great and
8:04 they look great, so I'm happy with them.
8:07 Our trip mileage is 6.7, but we did turn
8:09 the bike off, so that's 10. And we have
8:13 60% left in class 3. That's pretty good.
8:14 So, if you're going to be full pinning
8:16 in class 3 the entire time, you're
8:18 looking at at least a 20 mile range,
8:19 which if you're going to be riding with
8:21 your Emoto friends, you're going to need
8:22 that range and you're going to be
8:24 needing to full pin it the whole time to
8:25 keep up with them. If you're looking for
8:26 a street legal wheelie bike that you can
8:28 ride with your friends, I personally
8:30 have never wheelied a bike like this, so
8:32 I'm not good at it, but my friend has
8:34 this bike and he has wheelied it. He
8:35 says this is a pretty good bike for
8:37 wheelies, so I'm taking his word for it.
8:38 Use my discount code if you want to pick
8:39 it up. I hope you guys enjoyed this
8:41 video and I'll see you all next time. Bye.
