0:12 okay so we're going through our 10 essential
0:14 essential
0:17 Series so bibliology is the study of the
0:19 scriptures theology proper the study of
0:22 the godhead today we're going through
0:24 christology which is the study of Jesus
0:26 patology the study of the script uh the
0:29 study of the spirit angelology the study
0:30 of angels
0:33 then we have anthropology the study of
0:36 man's condition Humanity homology the
0:39 study of sin soteriology the study of
0:43 Salvation ecclesiology the study of
0:45 God's government and eschatology the
0:47 study of last
0:50 things so this morning we're going to
0:51 talk about christology which is the
0:54 doctrine of Jesus Christ but it's a lot
0:57 more than just Jesus Christ it's his
1:01 person and his work okay so when we talk
1:03 about Jesus from a christological
1:05 standpoint we're talking about the
1:08 person and work of Jesus Christ those
1:10 two things cannot be separated because
1:13 in addition to who he is we also have to
1:15 look at what he's accomplished That's
1:18 essential for our
1:20 Salvation so Wing gudum says it like
1:22 this we may summarize the Biblical
1:24 teaching about the person of Christ as
1:27 follows Jesus Christ was fully God and
1:30 fully man in one person and will be so
1:32 forever the scriptural material
1:34 supporting this definition is extensive
1:36 and we're going to discuss first the
1:38 humanity of Christ then his DD and then
1:39 attempt to show how Jesus's deity and
1:42 Humanity are united in one person of
1:44 Christ last week when we went through
1:46 theology proper we cited the calcedonian
1:49 Creed which gave us a definition of
1:51 Jesus and how his Natures cannot be
1:54 separated yet pulled apart it's very
1:56 important to go through that and
1:57 understand what that means and today
2:00 we're going to hone specifically in on
2:03 the second person of the Trinity
2:05 Jesus the biblical witness concerning
2:07 the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is
2:09 woven like a Scarlet thread throughout
2:11 the entirety of the written word of God
2:13 as the second person of the godhead the
2:15 savior's person and work constitute the
2:18 central testimony of all scripture
2:20 worship God for the testimony of Jesus
2:22 is the spirit of Prophecy and like I
2:24 said last week in the sermon the
2:26 scriptures are the testimony of Jesus
2:29 Christ each one of us have a testimony
2:30 how we lived life in a certain way and
2:32 then God intersected our lives and saved
2:35 us that's our testimony the testimony of
2:38 Jesus starts at Genesis and goes through
2:40 to Revelation all right this is all
2:44 about him it's his testimony his
2:48 witness okay so first Jesus the man was
2:51 Jesus a man raise your hand was he yes
2:54 absolutely he was a man John 1:14 and
2:57 the word became flesh now I highlighted
2:59 the uh the pertinent words in red just
3:01 so that to draw your attention to the
3:02 fact that the scriptures point to Jesus
3:05 being man the word became flesh and
3:06 dwelt among us and we have seen his
3:08 glory glory is of the only begotten of
3:11 the father full of grace and truth so
3:15 Jesus was of Flesh Romans 1:3 concerning
3:17 his son who was descended from David
3:20 according to the Flesh and why is that important
3:21 important
3:24 yes the genealogy of David there will
3:26 always be one sitting on the throne So
3:29 Not only was he in he was not only was
3:32 he a man the flesh but he was descended
3:33 from David so this is going to fulfill
3:36 the gene the genealogical issue of David
3:38 always having one of his descendant sit
3:43 on a throne Luke 1: 126 and7 in the six
3:45 month the angel Gabriel was sent from
3:47 God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth
3:49 to a virgin betrayed to a man whose name
3:51 was Joseph of the House of David and the
3:54 virgin's name was Mary now why we why
3:57 are we po pointing to the virgin's name
4:00 as Mary well Mary was a human being
4:02 right and we know the scripture says
4:05 flesh gives birth to what flesh so if
4:07 Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary he is
4:10 of the flesh again this is pointing to
4:11 the humanity of Christ and this is
4:14 essential for us to understand as
4:17 Christians Galatians 4:4 when the
4:19 fullness of time had come God sent forth
4:22 his son born of a woman born under the
4:26 law again flesh gives birth to flesh
4:29 Genesis 3:15 I will put enmity between
4:31 you and the woman between your Offspring
4:33 and her Offspring he shall bruise your
4:36 head and you shall bruise his heel right
4:39 from the beginning in Genesis God
4:40 promised Adam and Eve that he was going
4:45 to P put enmity which is being mad on
4:49 steroids between him and the woman okay
4:51 between your Offspring and her Offspring
4:53 so he tells the devil there's going to
4:56 be emity between you and my
4:59 Offspring Jesus fulfills that he is the
5:03 offs spring that Genesis 3:15 points to
5:06 this is a fulfillment of a prophecy that
5:08 God made way back in Genesis that he is
5:12 going to be the one who who crushes who
5:13 crushes the head of the
5:15 serpent now why is it important that he
5:17 crushes the head of the serpent
5:20 serpent
5:22 yes say
5:25 again symbolic of conquering evil like
5:27 if you want to take someone out you take
5:30 out the top the top guy yes
5:33 also told that he would sure yeah absolutely
5:35 absolutely
5:38 absolutely okay you're going to continue
5:41 on in the man the humanity of Jesus John
5:44 662 then what if you were to see the son
5:46 of man ascending to where he was before
5:49 now the term son of man in Daniel refers
5:51 to his deity son of man also refers to
5:53 humanity so depending on the
5:57 context okay it can mean either so here
5:59 we have Jesus the son of man ascending
6:07 before with the father right John 1:1
6:08 right he was with the father he was in
6:11 heaven he descended to Heaven uh to
6:13 Earth I should say he descended to Earth
6:16 as a what as a man that's what this
6:19 whole point is Hebrews 10:5 consequently
6:20 when Jesus came into the world he said
6:22 sacrifices and offerings you have not
6:25 desired but a body you have prepared for
6:29 me right Jesus Took on a human body now
6:32 what heresy did we talk about last
6:34 week would deny
6:37 this gnosticism right they said that
6:40 Jesus appeared to be a human but he
6:43 really wasn't he was a spirit okay
6:46 didn't have true flesh because flesh is
6:48 bad on
6:51 gnosticism 1 Timothy 3:16 great indeed
6:53 we confess is the mystery of godliness
6:56 he was manifested What In the Flesh
6:58 Vindicated by the spirit seen by Angels
7:01 proclaimed among the Nations believed on
7:03 in the world and taken up in glory
7:06 scripture over and over and over puts
7:09 forth the humanity of Jesus this is a
7:12 big one um Philippians
7:15 27-8 but emptied himself taking the form
7:17 of a servant being born in the likeness
7:20 of men and being found in human form he
7:23 humbled himself by becoming obedient to
7:25 the point of death even death on the
7:30 cross so what does anybody know what the
7:33 the theological word is behind this
7:36 Jesus taking on
7:40 flesh this is called kosis Theory okay
7:43 and so many people distort this they say
7:45 that when Jesus Took the form of a form
7:49 of a servant he laid aside his deity
7:52 such that he was just a man faithful and
7:54 trusting in God that's the way he was
7:56 able to do the Miracles that's the way
7:58 he was able to do the things that he did
8:00 that's a heresy Jesus did not lay aside
8:03 his deity he's truly God and truly man
8:07 in one person what he did do was take on
8:11 the voluntary limitation of the flesh so
8:16 Jesus didn't lose anything he took on
8:19 flesh a voluntary limitation that word
8:22 human form is the word morphe and it
8:26 means nature or character in other words
8:28 what Jesus did was he became the
8:30 Undercover Boss
8:33 he was boss over everything but he
8:35 became one of the servants one of the
8:39 workers to to in submission to God the
8:41 Father to do everything that was needed
8:45 to be done by Humanity here on Earth yes
8:46 that's I I like that illustration the
8:48 Superman illustration where car Kent
8:50 becomes Superman and vice versa he does
8:53 not stop it just depends on what you
8:54 know what Cape he's wearing what kind of
8:56 clothes he's wearing that you recognize
8:57 him or not I like that
9:00 illustration first John 1:3 that which
9:03 was from the beginning which we have
9:06 heard which we have seen with our eyes
9:08 which we looked upon and have touched
9:09 with our hands concerning the word of
9:12 life the life was made manifest and we
9:14 have seen it and testified to it and
9:16 proclaimed to you the eternal life which
9:19 was with the father and then what made
9:22 manifest to us that which we have seen
9:25 and heard we Proclaim to you so that you
9:27 too may have fellowship with us and
9:30 indeed our fellowship is with the father
9:33 and with his son Jesus Christ here John
9:37 labors over the point to show that we
9:41 saw him we touched him we heard him
9:43 those are all part of your five senses
9:47 he's saying we actually witnessed Jesus
9:48 In the
9:50 Flesh we touched him you can't touch
9:53 spirit Spirit is invisible right we
9:57 heard him so this again is John pointing
9:59 to the fact that Jesus was a bonified
10:02 human being right and in one one he was
10:04 God In the Flesh we're going to get to
10:08 the deity of of Jesus okay so we went
10:11 through Jesus uh as a human being now
10:13 we're going to go uh go through Jesus as
10:17 God in fact the God man because he's
10:20 both John 1:1 in the beginning was the
10:23 word the word was with God and the Word
10:28 was God he was in the beginning with God
10:29 now Jehovah's
10:31 translation the New World Translation is
10:34 going to say the word was a
10:38 God right so one of the things I do when
10:39 Jehovah's Witnesses knock on my door
10:42 first of all you don't want to St
10:44 berating them you want to invite them
10:47 onto the porch to talk to you this may
10:49 be the only opportunity they get to
10:50 understand and know what the scriptures
10:53 actually say so I say how many gods do
10:55 you believe in well there's only go one
10:58 God his name is Jehovah said okay how
11:00 many saviors do you believe in well
11:03 there's only one savior who's that
11:06 Jehovah I said okay the scripture says
11:11 Jesus was using their translation a God
11:13 and over and over the scriptures in the
11:16 New Testament point to Jesus as Savior
11:18 so the scriptures point to Jesus as a
11:22 God and a savior you say God the Jehovah
11:26 God is God and savior so we really don't
11:28 have a theological problem here we have
11:29 a math
11:32 a math mathematic problem mathological
11:36 that's a good word right a mathematics
11:39 problem here you have two two saviors
11:42 two Gods right but you claim there's
11:45 only one so this is a math issue not a
11:48 theology issue there's there's there's
11:50 much much more we can say about that and
11:51 we're going to get through to some of
11:54 the scriptures that we can use Matthew
11:56 1:23 behold the Virgin shall conceive
11:58 and bear a son and they shall call his
12:02 name a uel which means god with us I
12:04 don't know how you can get around that
12:07 God With Us that's
12:10 Jesus Mark 1 2 and 3 as it is written in
12:12 Isaiah the prophet behold I send my
12:13 messenger before your face who will
12:16 prepare your way the voice of one crying
12:18 in the wilderness prepare the way of the
12:21 Lord make his paths straight and like I
12:23 mentioned in last week's sermon this is
12:27 capital o l capital O capital r capital
12:29 D have the Jehovah witness look that up
12:32 in Isaiah and see what the word is in
12:35 their translation it's Jehovah it's
12:38 Yahweh it's the Covenant name of God so
12:42 this is um the prophet John the Baptist
12:46 prepares the way for who Jesus Jesus is
12:50 capital L O R D he is God In the
12:54 Flesh John 5:17 I I again referenced
12:55 this last week but Jesus answered them
12:58 my father is working until now and I am
12:59 working this was why the Jews were
13:01 seeking all the more to kill him because
13:03 not only was he breaking the Sabbath he
13:05 was even calling God his own father
13:09 making himself equal with God and I
13:10 never quite
13:12 understood the phrase my father is
13:14 working until now and I am working why
13:17 why would that point to his deity well
13:21 again this is unity of essence my father
13:23 like if I pointed somebody to my father
13:26 who's a human being that would entail
13:28 that I'm a human being he's my father so
13:31 so Jesus Calling God his father in
13:35 essence he's saying he's of uh divine
13:38 nature and my father is working until
13:41 now and I am working this is unity of
13:44 function or cooperation so whatever the
13:46 father does he does and whatever the
13:49 father is he is that's why they
13:52 understood this as a claim to
13:55 deity John 8:58 Jesus said to them truly
13:58 truly I say to you before Abraham was I am
13:59 am
14:03 he not he didn't say I will be or I was
14:05 and we talked about it last week Sproul
14:08 says God doesn't exist x x means out of
14:11 is means being God never came out of
14:15 something he always is always was and
14:19 always will be next verse this is a real
14:20 important one if you're going to bring a
14:21 Jehovah's if a Jehovah's Witness knocks
14:24 at the door or someone else a unarian John
14:25 John
14:28 12441 Isaiah said these things because
14:31 he Saw His glory and spoke of him and
14:33 he's talking about Jesus here so where
14:40 Glory
14:43 anybody Isaiah chapter 6 and what does he
14:49 say I see the Lord Seated on the throne
14:52 and the train of his robe fills the
14:55 temple Isaiah says that's
14:58 Jesus that's the glory of the Lord
15:02 that's Jesus in the Old Testament in the
15:05 temple okay so this is in John chapter
15:08 12 this is where uh John says that
15:10 Isaiah saw Jesus's Glory it's an
15:13 excellent place to bring someone who
15:15 doesn't really believe Jesus Is
15:20 God okay so Jesus as Creator so we we
15:22 know him as man we've seen the
15:25 scriptures of him as God he's the God
15:27 man what does what does the scriptures
15:30 say about Jesus being the
15:33 Creator John 1 all things were made
15:36 through him and without him not anything
15:39 that was made and that not anything made
15:41 that was made he was in the world and
15:43 the world was made through him yet the
15:46 world did not know him Jesus was present
15:49 at creation all things were made through
15:53 him and for him Colossians is going to
15:56 say 1 Corinthians 8:6 for us there is
15:58 one God the father from whom whom are
16:01 all things and for whom we exist and one
16:04 Lord Jesus Christ through whom are all
16:07 things and through whom we exist okay
16:09 this is likening Jesus with the father
16:12 again we hold to the triun of God God is
16:14 father son and spirit a unity in
16:16 community and a community in unity Jesus
16:19 was at the creation and part of it t
16:22 taking part in creating he's not a created
16:23 created
16:27 being Colossians 1:16 for by him Jesus
16:29 all things were created in heaven and on
16:32 Earth visible and invisible whether
16:34 Thrones or dominions rulers or
16:36 authorities all things were created
16:40 through him and for him so that's a big
16:43 verse not only does this point to Jesus as
16:44 as
16:47 Creator this points to Jesus as the
16:50 reason for the existence of the
16:53 universe God didn't create the universe
16:57 for you God created the universe for
16:59 Jesus why
17:01 why any
17:04 ideas for his glory great answer that's
17:07 always like Jesus Sunday school answer
17:09 Jesus right everything is created for
17:13 God's glory yes this is the way that God
17:16 is going to display all his attributes
17:18 to every every human being
17:21 created right some people always ask why
17:24 did God decree why did God allow the
17:27 fall God allowed the fall to show you
17:29 the extent of the Merc Mercy that he's
17:31 willing to have towards mankind the
17:33 extent of the love that he has for
17:35 mankind in putting his only innocent son
17:38 on the cross in the place of rebellious
17:40 Sinners you would not be able to see
17:42 that had God not allowed a fall or
17:45 decree a fall right why did he create
17:48 Satan God has a purpose for everything
17:50 this is going to sh display God's mercy
17:53 it's also going to display God's justice
17:56 you would never see that if God created
17:58 human beings like golden retrievers that
18:00 just just you know wag their tail and
18:02 and lick your your
18:05 palm yes right that's more of a molist
18:07 perspective but yes I I understand what
18:10 what you're saying so out of out of
18:13 everything that God could do he decided
18:14 to do this now everything that God does
18:17 is perfect so this is the perfect
18:19 scenario in which he's going to display
18:21 his attributes his love his Mercy his
18:25 grace his wrath his anger his
18:29 Justice okay Hebrews 1 2 and 10 but in
18:31 these last days he has spoken to us by
18:33 his son whom he appointed the heir of
18:35 all things through whom he also created
18:38 the world and then verse 10 and you Lord
18:40 laid the foundation of the Earth in the
18:42 beginning and the heavens are the work
18:45 of your hands now this is another great
18:47 verse to take Jehovah's Witnesses to you
18:51 read Hebrews uh chapter 1110 you Lord
18:53 laid the foundation of the earth and in
18:54 the beginning and the heavens are the
18:55 work of your hands that's talking about
18:59 Jesus right yes then take him to Psalm
19:02 102:25 it says and you Jehovah laid the
19:04 foundation of the Earth in the
19:06 beginning so what you want to do is
19:08 point to the New Testament where it's
19:10 pointing to Jesus referring to the Old
19:12 Testament where it's pointing to Jehovah
19:15 and you tell them Jesus is Jehovah God
19:17 right hopefully God uses that to make
19:24 minds okay Jesus the righteous one right
19:27 so if Jesus is going to pay the price
19:28 for our sins
19:30 he would need to be righteous what does
19:33 the scripture say 1 Peter 2:22 he
19:36 committed no sin neither was there
19:38 deceit found in his
19:41 mouth 1 John 3:5 you know that he
19:43 appeared in order to take away sins and
19:46 in him there is no
19:49 sin John 8:46 which one of you convicts
19:52 me of sin if I tell the truth why do you
19:53 not believe
19:56 me Hebrews 4:15 for we do not have a
19:58 high priest who is unable to s
20:00 sympathize with our weakness but one who
20:03 in every respect has been tempted as we
20:08 are yet without sin Jesus lived a
20:11 sinless life if he sinned that would
20:13 disqualify him from being our savior we
20:15 would not have a perfect savior we would
20:18 not have a lamb without spot or
20:23 blemish okay very important so also
20:26 Jesus as Savior does the scriptures do
20:27 the New Testament scriptures point to
20:29 Jesus as
20:32 savior 1 Corinthians 15 for I delivered
20:33 to you as of first importance what I
20:37 also received that Christ what died for
20:38 our sins in accordance with the
20:41 scriptures that he was buried that he
20:42 was raised on the third day in
20:44 accordance with the scriptures and then
20:47 he appeared to sephus and then the 12
20:48 notice very
20:50 important uh when Paul writes this
20:52 everything he says about Jesus is in
20:54 accordance with the scriptures in
20:55 accordance with the scriptures what
20:57 scriptures is he talking about old the
21:01 old Testament you have teachers today in
21:03 the church saying unhit yourself from
21:05 the Old Testament you don't need that we
21:06 have the
21:08 resurrection we have a resurrection of
21:11 who without the Old Testament some guy
21:14 came back to life and strange things
21:18 happen if it's not connected to the Old
21:21 Testament prophesied of a specific
21:23 person why believe this guy can the
21:25 devil do lying signs wonders and
21:28 miracles certainly can how do you know
21:31 who so what this guy rose from the dead
21:32 this isn't in accordance with the
21:35 scriptures who point us to a savior who
21:38 point us to Jesus Christ don't ever
21:40 unhit yourself from the scriptures old
21:42 or new testament
21:44 testament
21:47 gosh a little upset about that anyway
21:50 Colossians 2 and you who were dead in
21:53 your trespasses trespasses and the
21:55 uncircumcision of your flesh God Made
21:57 Alive together with him having forgiven
22:00 us all our trespasses by cancelling the
22:03 record of debt that stood against us
22:06 with its legal demands this he set aside
22:08 nailing it to the Cross he disarmed the
22:10 rulers and authorities and put them to
22:13 open Shame by triumphing them over them in
22:14 in
22:23 saved at the cross right you were chosen
22:25 before the foundation of the world the
22:28 payment was made at the cross
22:30 so Old Testament Saints who were saved
22:32 were looking forward to the payment for
22:35 their sins New Testament Saints look
22:37 backward at the payment of our sins it
22:39 all points to the Cross because that's
22:41 where the record of debt was
22:44 canceled it was then at that point in
22:47 time that our debt was paid it works out
22:51 over time when the spirit awakens us and
22:55 applies that payment to our account okay
22:59 so Jesus certainly fulfilled fills all
23:01 these things in in the sense of being
23:04 called savior he's going to save us from our
23:06 our
23:08 sins we're going to continue
23:12 on Galatians 6:14 but far be it from me
23:15 to boast except in the cross of our Lord
23:17 Jesus Christ by which the world has been
23:20 crucified to me and I to the world all
23:22 right so what does that mean to be that
23:24 the world is crucified to you and you to the
23:25 the
23:29 world right Roman six cons consider
23:32 yourself dead to sin right you you
23:34 you're you're now taken from the domain
23:36 of darkness and brought into the Kingdom
23:38 of Light those things are now passed you
23:40 have new desires you're to pursue the
23:42 things of the Kingdom now obviously the
23:44 World the Flesh and the devil try to
23:45 pull you in a different direction
23:47 because you have God's holy spirit in
23:49 you and you have new desires you're able
23:52 to carry them out you have to remember
23:55 that your debt was paid for at the cross
23:58 that is a a huge encouragement to people
24:00 who are struggling Michael Krueger uses
24:02 an illustration that I absolutely love
24:04 he says when somebody's going to buy a
24:07 house right and they come to in New York
24:09 anyway you have attorneys on both sides
24:12 and one attorney who's selling the house
24:14 receives a check from the buyer's
24:17 attorney and the check has to be certified
24:20 certified
24:22 why because he wants to make sure the
24:24 funds are there if he gives you a check
24:26 and it bounces well you know now you
24:30 have a problem Jesus is God's certified
24:32 check on the cross guaranteeing the
24:36 payment for the people he died for
24:39 certified this is done it is
24:42 finished Colossians 1:20 and through him
24:44 to reconcile all things to himself
24:45 whether on Earth or in heaven Making
24:49 Peace by the blood of his cross
24:51 Philippians 2 and being found in human
24:53 form he humbled himself by becoming
24:55 obedient to death to the point of death
24:58 even death on a cross
25:01 and this was prophesied in the old the
25:04 Old Testament Isaiah 53 surely he has
25:06 borne our griefs and carried our sorrows
25:08 yet we esteemed him stricken Smitten by
25:11 God and Afflicted but he was what
25:14 pierced for our transgressions not his
25:18 own he was crushed for our iniquities
25:22 not his upon him was the chastisement
25:24 that brought us peace and with his
25:28 wounds we are healed verse eight that he
25:30 was cut off out of the land of the
25:33 living stricken for the transgression of my
25:34 my
25:37 people a lot of uh Jewish people read
25:40 Isaiah 53 and think that's part of the New
25:41 New
25:43 Testament and I I've seen videos online
25:45 where they say no no that's Old
25:46 Testament and the Jews are adamant no
25:49 it's not no it's not so the guy opened
25:51 up his Bible said look this is Isaiah
25:53 read it and some of them are shocked to
25:56 see that this they know it applies to
25:58 Jesus but they don't realize that it's
26:00 in their half of the book their side of the
26:01 the
26:04 book Zechariah this is another one I
26:05 will pour out on the House of David and
26:07 the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of
26:09 Grace and please for mercy so that when
26:13 they look on me on whom they have
26:16 pierced and they shall mourn for him as
26:18 One Mourns for an only child and weep
26:21 bitterly over him and weeps over a
26:23 firstborn this is Zechariah is pointing
26:27 to someone being pierced this is Jesus
26:28 and it also Al gives a veiled reference
26:31 to the Trinity because it says uh so
26:34 that when they look on me Jesus whom
26:37 they have pierced they will mourn for
26:40 him as One Mourns for an only child
26:42 right so I I I'm sorry the first one
26:44 would be the father when they look upon
26:46 oh no I'm sorry still Jesus so this is
26:47 Jesus In the
26:51 Flesh okay God can't be pierced he
26:54 Spirit when Jesus Takes on flesh now
26:55 that's when they're going to mourn for
27:02 and he was raised from the dead 1
27:04 Corinthians 15 for I deliver to you as
27:06 first importance what I also received
27:07 that Christ died for our sins in
27:08 accordance with the scriptures that he
27:11 was raised on the third day when anybody
27:13 asks you where's the clearest
27:15 presentation of the death burial and
27:17 resurrection of Jesus is 1 Corinthians
27:20 15 just Mark that in your Bible that's
27:22 where you want to go 1 Corinthians 15
27:23 that's going to lay out all the
27:26 information that Paul wants us to know
27:27 that's it actually forms the basis of an early
27:28 early
27:32 Creed John 2:22 when therefore he was
27:33 raised from the dead his disciples
27:35 remembered that he said this and they
27:37 believed the scripture and the word that
27:38 Jesus had
27:41 spoken Jesus was raised from the dead
27:43 it's part of the Apostles Creed first
27:45 Peter three he has caused us to be born
27:47 again to a Living Hope through the
27:49 resurrection of Jesus Christ from the
27:51 dead over and over and over the
27:53 scriptures talk about the resurrection
27:55 of Jesus Revelation 1:5 and from Jesus
27:58 Christ a faithful witness the first born
28:01 of the Dead Revelation 1:17 fear not I
28:04 am the first and the last and the living
28:08 one I died and behold I am alive forever
28:11 more and I have the keys of death in
28:16 Hades he is alive forever more he
28:18 doesn't shed his body like a hyper
28:20 predus would say and dissolve on his way
28:23 to heaven he's in that body forever he's
28:25 a he's a glorified human being he's the
28:28 first fruits of what where going to look
28:30 like and if your faith and trust is in
28:33 Jesus as your savior you need not fear
28:36 anything as he holds the keys of death
28:39 and Hades amen one of my favorite verses
28:43 is because I live you will live also you
28:46 are in complete Union with Christ once
28:48 you're born of his Spirit you are
28:52 connected to him so as he lives so shall
28:58 we thank God so what's Jesus doing now
29:00 ruling and reigning you've heard that
29:02 every once in a while I think right okay
29:04 Matthew 28:19 and Jesus came and said to
29:07 them all authority how much Authority
29:09 all authority in Heaven and Earth where
29:11 all authority in Heaven and Earth has
29:15 been given to me Jesus go therefore Make
29:16 Disciples of all Nations baptizing them
29:18 in the name of the father and of the son
29:20 and of the Holy Spirit Jesus has all
29:24 authority now where in Heaven and Earth
29:26 tells us what to
29:29 do mark Mar 16 so then the Lord Jesus
29:31 after he had spoken to them was taken up
29:33 into heaven and sat down at the right
29:36 hand of God what is the right hand of God
29:37 God
29:40 mean I mean does it like literally mean
29:43 God's right hand and he's sitting what
29:45 does the right hand of God
29:48 mean if I was to tell you oh that that's
29:51 his right-hand man what would that
29:53 mean say
29:56 again he right he's a place of
29:58 preeminence and he hold holds the power
30:00 he he's the one who can get things done
30:05 he's seated at God's right hand acts 233
30:07 being therefore exalted to what the
30:10 right hand of God first Peter who has
30:11 gone into heaven and is at the right
30:13 hand of God with angels authorities
30:17 Powers have been subjected to him right
30:19 Jesus is over
30:23 all Hebrews 10 Christ offered for all
30:26 time a single sacrifice for sins he sat
30:28 down at the right hand of God waiting
30:29 until his enemies should be made a foot
30:32 stol for his feet that's where we're at
30:34 right now right Jesus is ruling and
30:36 reigning seated at the right hand of God
30:38 the Father waiting till his enemies are
30:40 made a foottoo for his feet and how does that
30:41 that
30:44 happen through the church through us we
30:47 got work to do we have to proclaim the
30:49 gospel we have to bear witness we have
30:51 to work here on Earth to bring his
30:53 kingdom on Earth as it is in
30:55 heaven right the more we do that the
30:58 faster the kingdom grows until he's got
31:00 all his enemies under his feet and then
31:01 he comes
31:05 back 1 Corinthians 15 he must Reign
31:07 until what he's put all his enemies
31:09 under his
31:13 feet 1 Timothy 6:14 and 15 the Lord
31:15 Jesus Christ who is the blessed and only
31:18 Sovereign the King of Kings and the Lord
31:20 of lords interestingly enough it says
31:24 Jesus is Sovereign he's Lord over
31:28 everything he's in control empower power
31:30 Revelation 19 on his robe and on his
31:33 thigh he has a name written king of
31:36 kings and Lord of lords very difficult
31:39 to get around the deity of Jesus seeing
31:42 that he's the Lord of lords how would
31:43 you call him the Lord of lords if he's
31:45 not the
31:47 Lord he's not the Lord of lords if
31:54 him okay Jesus now he's still saving
31:58 people forgiveness is found only only in
32:01 him or in in him only however you want
32:04 to phrase it Luke 197 19:10 for the son
32:08 of man came to seek and save the lost
32:11 right A lot of times we hear uh negative
32:13 things about Seeker sensitive churches
32:15 and I always like to flip it around on
32:17 them say oh I want to be a secret
32:18 sensitive church what do you mean how do
32:20 you cater to the people I said no no I
32:22 want to cater to the Seeker that's
32:25 Jesus he's the one who seeks and saves I
32:27 want to cater I want a Seeker sense
32:29 church cuz Jesus is the
32:33 Seeker acts 4:2 and there is salvation
32:36 in no one else for there is no other
32:38 name under Heaven given among men by
32:42 which we must be saved why is that why
32:45 is that important he's right the
32:47 scripture says he's the only way if you
32:49 could get to heaven any other way well
32:52 then Jesus's death on the cross is just
32:57 one way out of many ways so God paid the
32:59 the penalty and put his son on the cross
33:01 when you could have got to Heaven by
33:05 saying a rosary or doing something
33:08 else that's that's
33:11 disrespectful to what God has done in
33:13 Rebellion to what God has done
33:16 Philippians 2:10 at the name of Jesus
33:19 every knee should bow in heaven and on
33:22 Earth and under the Earth and every
33:24 tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord
33:27 to the glory of God the Father if
33:29 there's another way then God wouldn't
33:31 get glory for that way there's only one
33:35 way God Alone gets the glory this is his
33:39 plan 1 Timothy 2:5 there is one God and
33:41 one mediator between God and man the man
33:43 Christ Jesus now there are other
33:45 so-called Christian Traditions that say
33:47 well there's more than one mediator you
33:49 know Moses was a mediator you can ask me
33:51 to pray and I would mediate for you say
33:53 okay so then based on First Timothy
33:55 maybe there's more than one God right
33:57 right
33:59 well no there's only one God okay so
34:01 there's one God and many mediators is
34:03 that what the scripture says no there's
34:06 one God and one mediator mediator
34:07 meaning the only one who can take away
34:10 your sins pay for them that's Jesus
34:13 Christ the man Christ
34:17 Jesus okay this is important as well
34:20 Jesus holds three offices Prophet priest
34:23 and King so what is the difference
34:25 between a prophet and a
34:28 priest okay good I think I would say
34:31 both stand between man and God the
34:35 prophet speaks to man on behalf of God
34:37 the priest speaks to God on behalf of
34:40 man and guess what Jesus fulfills both
34:43 of those offices he's the one mediator
34:45 that stands between
34:48 both John 6:14 when the people saw the
34:50 sign that he had done they said this
34:52 indeed this is indeed the prophet who
34:56 has come into the world Hebrews 4:14
34:58 since the then we have a high a great
35:00 high priest who has passed through the
35:03 heavens Jesus the son of God let us hold
35:05 fast to our confession and finally on
35:08 his robe and on his thigh he has a name
35:11 written king of kings and Lord of lords
35:15 now that was Jesus saving and Prophet
35:18 priest and King is he coming
35:21 back acts 1:1 men of Galilee why do you
35:23 stand looking to Heaven this Jesus who
35:24 was taken up from you into heaven will
35:27 come in the same way as you saw him into
35:32 heaven now did he bodily go into heaven
35:35 then he's going to bodily come back
35:38 based on that verse Matthew 25 when the
35:40 son of man comes in his glory and all
35:42 the angels with him then he will sit on
35:43 his glorious Throne before him and be
35:45 gathered to all the nations and he will
35:47 separate people one from another as a
35:49 Shepherd separates the sheep from the
35:51 goats and he will place the sheep on his
35:53 right and the goats on his left that's
35:55 important because you go through Matthew
35:59 and there's a spiritual coming of Jesus
36:01 right Jesus coming in judgment upon
36:04 Israel and then is a physical coming of
36:06 Jesus where he comes back and it's the
36:07 final judgment and he separates the
36:09 sheep from the goats got to be a little
36:12 Discerning as you go through that
36:14 Hebrews 9:28 so Christ having been
36:16 offered once to Bear the sins of many
36:19 will what appear a second time not to
36:21 deal with sin but to save those who are
36:24 eagerly waiting for him so the to the
36:26 people who say well Jesus came back back
36:30 in 70 AD okay and everything is
36:33 fulfilled it everything is passed at
36:36 this point did he appear a second time
36:40 or was this a spiritual coming of the
36:43 Lord he didn't appear a second time in
36:48 70 AD he came in judgment upon upon the
36:52 Jews Mark 8:38 for whoever is ashamed of
36:54 me and of my words in this adulterous
36:56 and sinful generation of him the son of
36:58 man will also be ashamed when he comes
37:02 in the glory of his father with the Holy
37:05 Angels finally Revelation 22:20 he who
37:07 testifies to these things say says
37:11 surely I am coming soon amen come Lord
37:14 Jesus come that's probably when he says
37:15 I'm coming soon that's probably closer
37:24 Israel
37:27 questions any questions we understand
37:30 that Jesus is God he took on flesh he's
37:33 the God man he's the mediator he's the
37:36 savior he had a part in creation he's
37:46 yes there probably is I don't
37:49 necessarily know what that is at this
37:50 point but that's that's a really good
37:52 question something to to look into for
37:54 sure yeah on a thigh it there has to be
37:56 significant there's no word in the
37:59 script is that's frivolous so yeah
38:00 there's there's significance to it I
38:02 wish I knew yes all right if there's no
38:16 [Music] prayer
