0:03 so Timmy wants to be a Roblox developer
0:05 and instead of opening Roblox Studio he
0:08 searches how to become a Roblox Dev and
0:10 he just searches for hours just to find
0:12 an easy way to become a Roblox developer
0:15 he tries and tries and tries but it's
0:18 just not enough for him why can't I get
0:22 this he says any rage quits he just
0:23 decides to give up on his dream of
0:25 becoming a Roblox Dev and going back to
0:27 playing pet simulator wait Timmy what
0:29 are you doing the light at the end of
0:31 the tunnel arrives Lord regulus the pro
0:33 developer who climbed to the top of the
0:36 front page in blazing speed with 15
0:38 games that hit the front page and
0:40 hundreds of millions of visits and Robux
0:43 made he can teach Timmy right Jimmy just
0:45 open up studio and start messing around
0:48 you'll start to get it with enough work
0:51 okay so Underlord regulus's guidance
0:53 Timmy goes ahead and tries it he opens
0:55 up studio and starts messing around
0:57 placing parts and trying to make the
0:59 games of his Wireless streams and with
1:02 enough time and dedication he begins to
1:03 move Parts at the speed of light he
1:05 makes the game of his dreams and starts
1:08 to see it all come to you hold up hold
1:11 up hold up this is not gonna happen that
1:13 easy but at least it's somewhat
1:15 relatable this guide right here is going
1:16 to show you exactly how to use Roblox
1:19 Studio from start to finish exactly down
1:20 to the Last Detail this is the best
1:22 guide you're going to see on it I
1:23 started just like you with zero
1:26 experience and now you are lucky to get
1:28 this very video I wish I had when I got
1:29 started it would have been way easier
1:31 and I would have learned way faster
1:34 saving me days or weeks maybe even
1:36 months of time so let's get started
1:38 first we need to download Roblox Studio
1:39 of course now this is pretty easy
1:42 obviously if you've downloaded Roblox on
1:43 your computer you should already have
1:45 studio and all we need to do is search
1:47 for it so if you're on Mac you can click
1:48 the search button on the top right of
1:50 your menu bar at the top of your screen
1:52 or if you're on Windows like me go ahead
1:54 and click the search button down here
1:57 and you can go ahead and click and you
1:59 can type in Roblox Studio it should show
2:02 up and if doesn't you can go ahead to roblox.com
2:03 roblox.com
2:06 create and there will be a download link
2:08 there I'll also link it in the
2:09 description for you to go ahead and head
2:11 over there one of the first links in the
2:13 description cool now let's let Roblox
2:16 Studio load up and let's get into it so
2:17 we want to make our first game Roblox
2:19 Studio has a few different sections
2:22 where you can make a game and edit all
2:24 the games you've made in the past and
2:27 these sections of Roblox Studio are on
2:29 the left hand side you can go ahead and
2:32 see there is a new project button
2:36 there's a my games button there's a
2:37 recent button and there's an archive
2:39 button now the most important one when
2:41 we get started is new because this has
2:43 all of our templates where we can choose
2:45 different templates to get us started
2:48 with and really you only need to worry
2:49 about these first three the other ones
2:52 are not that great to be honest and you
2:54 can go ahead and see your games here and
2:55 all your group games and then recent
2:57 we'll show you recent projects you've
2:59 opened on the computer that you're using
3:02 so let's just start with a base plate a
3:04 basic new base plate right here not
3:05 classic base plate let's just use the
3:07 normal one and there we go you've made
3:10 your first Roblox game congrats you can
3:13 close this video now wait wait no never
3:16 mind uh keep watching and your first
3:18 quote-unquote game but there's a lot
3:19 more to understand to get started in
3:22 Roblox studio so let's go the UI of
3:24 Roblox studio so the first thing we're
3:26 going to look at is the UI or user
3:27 interface of Roblox Studio which
3:30 includes all of the buttons panels and
3:33 menus in Roblox studio now I'm not
3:35 trying to overwhelm you with a bunch of
3:36 stuff so I'm gonna go ahead and show you
3:38 the main panels and we'll get into
3:42 everything else later first is the top
3:44 bar of Roblox Studio this is where we're
3:47 gonna get started so first one in the in
3:49 the top left is file and this has what
3:52 you'd expect from your average program
3:54 so as you can see we can see our recent
3:58 games we've edited you can see new you
4:00 can see open from file open from Roblox
4:02 close Place
4:05 Etc now you can save to a file which
4:08 will save as a Roblox Place file which
4:10 will allow you to access your place on
4:13 the computer or send that place to
4:15 somebody else as a file so they can edit
4:17 that instance of the place but don't
4:19 worry about that the main one you need
4:21 to worry about is publish to Roblox
4:24 publish to Roblox allows you to put it
4:26 on the website public so that it can be
4:28 played by everyone of course if you set
4:31 it to public and save to Roblox saves it
4:33 but it does not make the changes public
4:35 so I can go ahead and publish and that's
4:37 going to be seen by everyone below this
4:40 menu bar below this top menu bar up here
4:44 we have a selection of items which are
4:45 very important to the use of Roblox
4:49 studio and especially to building
4:51 so to go ahead and move around in Roblox
4:55 Studio we can right click to go ahead
4:57 and look around in Roblox Studio we can
4:59 look around in what we call the viewport
5:00 which is in the middle of the screen
5:02 lets us see everything inside the game
5:06 and we can use the a wsd Keys just like
5:08 a game to go ahead and move back and
5:11 forth but there's an additional two keys
5:13 which you can use to move around which
5:16 is the Q and the E Keys Q will move down
5:19 and E will move up now you can right
5:22 click look around but there's one last
5:25 thing you can scroll to go ahead and go
5:27 really fast and move around faster Zoom
5:30 if you will so yeah the first button
5:32 that we should take a look at is the
5:34 part button
5:36 part button will go ahead and place a
5:38 part in our game if we click it and as
5:39 you can see it has a drop down here
5:42 which allows us to see block sphere
5:44 wedge Corner wedge cylinder so we can
5:46 choose different shape parts to use in
5:47 our game now of course the main one
5:50 you're going to be using is a normal
5:53 block so now that we've placed this we
5:55 can actually drag this around and we can
5:57 choose where we want to place it now you
5:59 might notice that mine is moving really
6:01 smoothly and one really important thing
6:04 is the increment so you can actually
6:06 change the increment that this moves at
6:08 and this brings us to these different
6:10 tabs here which include home model
6:15 Avatar test View and plugins view has
6:16 all of the different things in Roblox
6:18 studio and we can show them and hide
6:21 them Tess has the play button start
6:23 button and several other options for you
6:26 to test Avatar has Avatar options for
6:28 animating and designing avatars and
6:32 model has most of the features that we
6:34 need for building it has a little bit
6:36 more than home but home has all the main
6:39 ones but if we go to model it actually
6:42 has this thing called Snap to grid now
6:44 snap to grid is actually going to allow
6:47 us to go ahead and change the increment
6:50 that we move and scale Parts at so if we
6:52 change this to be checked off I'm not
6:55 sure most the time most the time yours
6:56 should already be checked and it should
6:59 say one stud by default and 45 degrees
7:01 as your
7:04 rotate now this is horrible by the way
7:07 45 degrees is bad for rotation as you
7:09 can see it rotates really really really
7:13 stiffly we don't want this and so I
7:15 usually have mine at 15 and then I leave
7:19 my move at either 0.1
7:23 0.25 or 0.5 and then sometimes I turn it
7:25 off when I'm moving around bushes and
7:27 stuff but a really good one to start
7:29 with is probably 0.5 or even one stud
7:33 because one stud is good and one method
7:35 you could do is you can start building
7:38 with one stud and then later you can go
7:41 ahead and switch to smaller ones as you
7:43 get more into the deep details of your
7:46 build now you'll notice that on both the
7:50 Home tab and the model tab there is a
7:54 select move scale and rotate tool and
7:57 these are very self-explanatory select
7:58 is very useful when you just want to
8:01 drag stuff and you know move things
8:03 around without worrying about moving it
8:06 with any other type of dragger and
8:07 having these in the way you can just
8:11 drag it select it deselect it now move
8:14 is for more exact movements
8:16 so you can of course always move your
8:18 part by just dragging it but you're
8:20 going to notice pretty quickly that
8:23 building things well using that dragging
8:26 feature is going to be horrible so I
8:29 highly recommend that you go ahead and
8:31 use the move tools for more exact
8:33 movements so we can go ahead and drag
8:36 and we can move it up and down
8:39 left to right and that type of thing and
8:44 by the way this moves on the y axis this
8:48 moves on the x axis and this moves on
8:51 the Z axis and these represent different
8:55 positions inside of the game world now
8:57 we'll get into that more later but it's
9:00 good to know X Y and Z especially if
9:02 you're going to go into scripting later
9:04 and especially if you want to be an
9:06 advanced Builder now back to the UI
9:09 around the rest of the screen we have
9:12 several different panels and by default
9:15 you have the toolbox or you should have
9:18 the toolbox the properties window which
9:21 is right here and usually I believe that
9:24 it is right here actually and we also
9:28 have the output window and this will
9:30 spit out different things from your code
9:31 but we don't really have to worry about
9:33 this right now so let's close that now
9:36 if you do not see any one of these menus
9:40 you can go ahead up here to view and we
9:44 can select Explorer and you'll will see
9:47 it disappears and appears and there is a
9:49 chance that it might be stacking up with
9:51 other windows and glitching out
9:53 in that case you can click it a ton of
9:56 times until you see it on your screen or
9:59 you can close out windows until you see
10:01 it so I can go ahead and close out tool
10:03 grip editor and all this stuff and then
10:04 I'll be able to cycle through these
10:06 easier so let's go ahead and look at
10:08 each individual one of these main panels
10:12 so toolbox you can get your models that
10:15 you've made in the past in the inventory
10:17 section or in this one that lets you see
10:20 the models you've made and this one
10:22 shows you recent models you've used this
10:24 one it's your models these are very
10:26 similar tags except this one allows you
10:29 to see group models too now this one is
10:30 the interesting one you've heard about
10:32 free models right and if you're really
10:34 new to development you probably don't
10:36 necessarily even know how to get them
10:38 but you can go ahead and get free models
10:40 from this you can get all kinds of
10:41 different models that people have made
10:44 now most of these are not the best
10:47 quality and a lot of them if you use all
10:49 three models as you've probably seen all
10:52 free model games nothing matches up it's
10:54 horrible to use all free models unless
10:56 you're very careful with it which it
10:58 does take some time and practice honing
11:00 your own building skills to know how to
11:02 match together different free models but
11:05 with that in mind they're okay to look
11:07 at and learn from but I would not
11:09 recommend making entire games with them
11:10 you can practice with it you can
11:12 practice dragging stuff in practice
11:14 handling models with these it's very
11:16 good but we don't want you sitting
11:18 around throwing free models in studio
11:20 that's not going to do anybody any good
11:23 and that's how I started but look that's
11:24 not how we want to start if we're trying
11:27 to learn this quickly and trying to skip
11:31 all the randomness so next up Explorer
11:34 now the Explorer the Explorer window is
11:37 very crucial so pay attention it is very
11:39 much so one of the most important
11:42 windows in Roblox studio so you need to
11:45 see this so each one of these inside of
11:47 the Explorer window is called a service
11:51 a service is a different
11:55 piece of the Roblox engine that does a
11:58 different function and it allows us to
12:01 go ahead and do different things inside
12:04 our game and contain different aspects
12:07 of our game so the most important one
12:09 and the main one that we'll be using is
12:12 called workspace everything that exists
12:15 visibly in your game that is an object
12:17 not the lighting we'll get into that
12:19 later but that's also visible everything
12:21 that is in workspace is all that you can
12:23 see in the game aside from light don't
12:25 worry about that yet but everything you
12:28 can see in the game is in workspace so
12:30 this right here this is in workspace as
12:32 you can see if we select it we'll see it
12:35 right here this is a spawn location now
12:38 face split this is our base plate it's
12:40 in workspace if we hit the delete key
12:43 it's gone and it's also gone from the
12:44 Explorer so I'm going to go ahead and
12:48 click control Z or command Z on Mac to
12:51 undo that and by the way to redo it is
12:55 control shift Z or command shift Z on
12:57 Mac now lighting is the other one you
12:58 can see and you can change different
13:00 aspects of how the game's lighting looks
13:02 so for example we can raise our
13:04 brightness do a bunch of cool stuff
13:05 there's a bunch of different properties
13:07 in lighting which allow you to change
13:10 how the game looks and can go ahead and
13:14 see how to use all of these in the video
13:15 in the right hand corner you can go
13:18 ahead and pop that open in a new tab and
13:19 watch that after this so you can learn
13:21 lighting if you would like because it is
13:24 a very interesting and fun thing to do
13:26 so you can actually make quite a bit of
13:27 Robux easily by making lighting because
13:30 in my opinion lighting if you have an
13:32 eye for it is really easy to go ahead
13:36 and start making Robux from because it's
13:38 like one of the easiest things to make
13:40 in Roblox studio so just a note there
13:42 for any of you who want to learn a skill
13:45 that can make you Robux fast lighting do
13:48 it next up the basics of building so in
13:50 this section of the video we are going
13:51 to look at the basics of building and
13:54 I'm going to show you how to build now
13:56 that we're out of the way of the boring
13:59 UI we're into building so if we go ahead
14:02 and choose select by clicking on it if
14:04 it's not already chosen so if it's dark
14:06 gray like mine that means that it's
14:08 selected if it's not dark gray then it's
14:10 not selected then we can hover our
14:13 cursor over a part and drag it wherever
14:15 we want so for anyone over this but yeah
14:18 but now let's look at the scale tool so
14:21 the scale tool very similar in how it
14:22 works to the move tool except you grab
14:24 one of these draggers and you can go
14:27 ahead and move it and see it stretch
14:29 into the sky alright so now we're going
14:31 to turn this part into a wall we're
14:35 gonna build a wall so you can scale your
14:37 part up and you can say you know I want
14:40 to make this a huge wall and I want to
14:42 stretch it over the whole base plate
14:45 alright so we've built our wall so now
14:48 what we need to do we need to look at
14:50 the different ways you can scale parts
14:52 so we've scaled this wall outright I've
14:55 scaled out really long on both sides but
14:57 there are a few different ways that you
14:59 can scale Parts which are going to be
15:01 really useful in building one way is by
15:03 holding control and dragging one of
15:05 these and you can go ahead and stretch
15:08 it out on both sides and you can hold
15:11 shift to stretch it out on all sides in
15:13 One Direction if we hit Ctrl Z we can go
15:16 ahead and undo that and if you go ahead
15:18 and click control shift
15:19 shift
15:22 click you can go ahead and stretch it
15:24 out evenly from the middle or the origin
15:26 Point here and you can stretch it out in
15:28 all directions that way now more
15:30 keybinds you can go ahead and click
15:32 control R and you can go ahead and turn
15:35 it 90 degrees now you can click Ctrl T
15:37 and this will turn it vertically 90
15:39 degrees interesting right control T
15:41 though is a little bit is a little bit
15:43 weird though alright now let's go ahead
15:44 and delete this now we're going to look
15:46 at some more keybinds of building and
15:47 let's start actually building a basic
15:49 building so I'm going to go ahead and
15:52 add a new part in the model tab I'm
15:54 going to click the part button and now
15:56 we're going to hold Ctrl scale that down
15:58 then I'm going to stretch this out let's
16:01 make it a good length go ahead and make
16:04 this taller we'll go ahead and click
16:07 control D to duplicate this part we're
16:08 going to stretch it all the way down
16:10 here stretch it out to the length of
16:13 wall we want move this move this out one
16:14 stud and you don't want anything
16:16 overlapping while you while you're
16:18 building this is really important
16:20 because if you have stuff over lapping
16:22 let me show you so let's go ahead and
16:24 select the part go to our properties
16:27 panel and change the brick color to teal
16:29 now if I stretch this over this you'll
16:32 see that it starts flickering this is
16:34 called Z fighting and Z fighting is a
16:38 horrible looking glitch so you know this
16:41 is normal and it's gonna happen on
16:43 accident but we want to avoid this as
16:45 much as possible so that's partly why
16:47 I'm doing that to make sure we don't
16:48 have any Z fighting I know that we
16:51 aren't recoloring this we're going to
16:53 leave it as medium Stone gray but it's
16:55 good to keep in mind also while we're on
16:57 colors there is a custom color property
16:59 which I recommend using as much as
17:01 possible because these are not really
17:02 enough especially as you get more
17:05 advanced in your builds now let's go
17:10 ahead and click on this and hold shift
17:12 and we can go ahead and have both of
17:13 these selected at once then I'm going to
17:16 click Ctrl D to duplicate then I'm going
17:20 to click control r twice and now we have
17:24 this on both sides now let's go ahead
17:28 and add a roof but with the roof let's
17:30 use a different kind of bar so let's
17:33 click this let's add a wedge and then
17:36 we're going to click Ctrl R drag this up
17:39 here and then we're going to go ahead
17:41 and stretch this out now one thing I
17:43 want to do is I want to select this wall
17:46 and check the size so it's 36 if your
17:49 wall is uneven sized you might want to
17:51 change it to something that's even but
17:55 36 divided by 2 is 18. so if we go ahead
17:59 and make this 18 studs wide we can go
18:04 ahead and make that good and then if we
18:08 click control D Ctrl R twice we can go
18:11 ahead and drag this back here and there
18:13 we go so now
18:15 we have our basic shape of a house or a
18:17 building so if we go ahead and flick
18:19 this and hold shift and click on this
18:21 let's go ahead and recolor this let's
18:23 make it let's make this white so I'm
18:25 going to go ahead and choose a nice kind
18:27 of quilt I think quill gray looks good
18:29 and then I'm going to go ahead
18:31 and I'm going to add a block all right
18:34 then I'm going to drag this up here and
18:37 stretch it out to the same size as the
18:39 top of our roof
18:43 maybe change this down to 0.25 see if
18:44 that now we're having a little bit of an
18:47 alignment issue here not exactly sure
18:48 why this is happening
18:51 let's see the size this might be fixed
18:52 by changing the height of this if we had
18:54 to add more of an even angle I believe
18:56 it would be better but it doesn't really
18:58 matter for now so I'm going to change
19:00 the brick color to a nice Brown so we
19:04 have our roof go ahead and click Ctrl D
19:09 and then hit Ctrl r twice and then now
19:11 we run into a predicament right so this
19:13 is very important in building and I feel
19:14 like a lot of people don't even know
19:18 this but if you go ahead and see these
19:19 draggers they're very they're lined up
19:22 with the part right this is called local
19:26 space and local space is the
19:29 basically the position of the part the
19:31 move tool is being based on the position
19:33 of the part the rotation of the part
19:35 it's using its own
19:39 space to go ahead and calculate how it's
19:41 going to move but obviously this isn't
19:42 really going to work too well if we're
19:44 trying to move it over there unless we
19:46 did a this but it's gonna be hard to
19:49 line up so what we can do is we can go
19:51 ahead and right click and click use
19:53 World space and we can change that to
19:55 World space so now it's based off the
19:57 whole world it's based off the world
19:59 rather than the part so it's going to
20:01 say the same direction as what we'd
20:03 expect and now we can go ahead and move
20:07 this in place with no problem and there
20:09 we go another issue
20:12 it's not lining up what okay this is
20:14 weird now
20:16 we could do the simple fix
20:19 which is just to drag this but I do
20:21 recommend the plug-in which is called
20:23 resize a line I'll go ahead and Link it
20:25 below for you it's really useful and it
20:28 allows you to resize stuff and align
20:30 edges so you can go ahead and go to your
20:32 plugins tab after you download it and
20:34 you can usually just get it in plugins
20:35 actually on the toolbox so if you go to
20:40 plugins search up resize align we can go
20:43 ahead and get that stravent resize align
20:46 and use that so geom tools we'll open
20:48 that up if you have multiple by this guy
20:50 I recommend all of these by the way but
20:53 resize the line now we can go ahead and
20:57 click on this click on that and align
21:00 those two edges up and now it's good no
21:03 problems there anymore now I'm gonna go
21:05 ahead and I'm going to select this
21:07 actually let's not do that yet I'm going
21:09 to select I'm going to box select click
21:11 from this corner drag select all of
21:14 these I'm going to make the walls a nice
21:15 red but then I'm going to go in here
21:19 change this to be a darker red and we'll
21:21 call that good right there and now I
21:24 kind of want to extend these walls out
21:26 just give it some depth you know let's
21:28 just do that on one side let's just do
21:30 that on this side just a little bit
21:31 there we go not the greatest not the
21:33 greatest but very good for starters now
21:35 let's go ahead and look at how we can
21:37 make windows and doors and that kind of
21:41 thing inside of your building so one way
21:44 you can do this is by simply hitting
21:48 Ctrl D on this part holding control and
21:50 then now we have a center right we have
21:53 a center part and we can say that's our
21:55 Center and then we can just go ahead and
21:59 resize this down and I'm gonna go back
22:02 to 0.5
22:06 I'm going to use resize one real quick
22:10 and yeah so okay go back down to 0.5
22:13 and now that we have a center we can go
22:15 ahead and go off of this
22:17 I'm gonna align these with resize the
22:24 line and now one two three four five
22:26 I'm gonna I'm gonna do one stud okay so
22:28 that was two and a half studs all right
22:31 drag that now I'm gonna hit Ctrl D to
22:33 duplicate that and I'm gonna go ahead
22:36 and move that over here and there we go
22:39 so that is how you can get a centered up
22:42 hole or window now we can just go ahead
22:45 and duplicate this boom and grab resize
22:52 Ctrl D that
22:55 scale it down
22:57 and there you go you pretty much get the
23:01 gist and go ahead and duplicate this we
23:04 can go ahead and make some window sills
23:06 and let's go ahead and go back down to
23:10 20.25 man so this is one issue with
23:12 building studio and why I recommend
23:14 learning blender because it can be
23:17 really annoying to be doing all of these
23:19 scaling and measurement Etc
23:22 so yeah I'm gonna go ahead and duplicate
23:26 that why is this not looking Center all
23:27 right so I went ahead and added some
23:30 stuff to my window now we can go ahead
23:33 and duplicate a part in here hit Ctrl D
23:35 we can go ahead and hold Ctrl scale that up
23:36 up
23:39 let's uncheck the move make that thinner
23:42 turn it to blue and then we can go in
23:43 properties and we can go ahead and
23:46 increase the transparency and also the
23:49 reflectance to get a nice look for a
23:51 window we can change the material to
23:53 smooth plastic and we can go ahead and
23:55 have a pretty nice looking window so
23:59 pretty good not the greatest but we're
24:01 going to improve with time as you build
24:04 and get better at it now I could do a
24:07 much better window than this but I'm not
24:08 going to worry about it for now because
24:10 we're just looking at the basics now
24:15 another way is with what we call unions
24:18 so unions in studio is another feature
24:20 involved with building and this lets you
24:23 cut Parts out of other parts and glue
24:24 Parts together and all that kind of
24:26 stuff personally I'm not the biggest fan
24:29 of unions but for simple things I
24:30 believe they're very useful sometimes
24:33 and even necessary so you might run into
24:37 problems and builds and you need to to
24:39 You Know cover up a gap or fill
24:41 something or do something really quick
24:44 that is when I personally think unions
24:45 are the best and otherwise you should
24:48 probably use blender for it but unions
24:49 can also be used for things like Windows
24:53 so you can hit Ctrl D hold Ctrl hold
24:55 Ctrl and we can go ahead and just scale
24:58 this down uh we can right click and we
25:00 can click negate to go ahead and turn
25:03 this in to a negated part which will let
25:05 us cut it out of another part but we can
25:09 also hit control shift n or command
25:12 shift n on Mac to go ahead and make this
25:13 negated now you'll see it's like red
25:16 transparent now if you hold shift and
25:19 click on another part we can right click
25:22 and hit Union or as you can see the
25:24 keybind is Ctrl shift G so if you hit
25:27 Ctrl shift G we go ahead and Union that
25:29 together so now we have a union
25:32 now one issue with unions is as you make
25:35 more complex ones Roblox gets really bad
25:39 at rendering these and they kind of are
25:41 bad for your game's performance so you
25:44 want to avoid using unions too much one
25:45 other issue we won't be able to go
25:48 through this usually because now we this
25:50 is basically a mesh and a mesh is one
25:52 object rather than a bunch of parts so
25:54 it's it doesn't know exactly how to
25:55 calculate this so that you can go
25:57 through this hole but there is a fix to
25:59 keep in mind so if we select this we can
26:01 go ahead and go down in our properties
26:04 and change the Collision Fidelity to
26:07 precise convex deposition and we'll be
26:09 able to go ahead and jump through this
26:11 of course if the space allows
26:14 example but yeah that gives you an idea
26:16 of the basics of building now we're
26:18 going to go ahead and look at some more
26:20 stuff in studio such as how to publish
26:22 and save our game we're going to go
26:23 ahead and look at how to publish your
26:26 game so if we go ahead and click publish
26:28 to Roblox we can publish this game but
26:30 I'm going to click publish to Roblox as
26:33 just so that I can make a copy for an
26:34 example for you guys so I'm gonna hit
26:36 publish Roblox ads and we're gonna make
26:41 a new game and now you'll see here that
26:43 we can name it and we can name it
26:46 whatever we want so we can name our game
26:50 blah blah blah blah test I don't know
26:52 and then we can do whatever we can
26:54 create we can choose the Creator we can
26:55 choose the group we want it to be in or
26:57 you can have it created by yourself you
27:00 can create the genre which helps Roblox
27:02 catalog categorize your game a little
27:04 bit and you can choose which devices it
27:06 can be played on or recommend checking
27:08 off console and team create team create
27:11 lets you have people work with you in
27:13 studio on your your project just like it
27:15 was a game on Roblox like you're playing
27:17 together except you're all in studio
27:19 building at the same time which is a
27:20 really great insanely useful feature
27:23 that I use all the time with friends and
27:25 development Partners so yeah really
27:28 useful now once you're done setting this
27:30 up you can hit create and it'll publish
27:33 it on Roblox so some more about the
27:35 studio UI now we can go ahead and look
27:38 at file and we can see that we have
27:40 several things and the first one I want
27:43 to show you is Advanced now Advanced
27:46 actually has something which is called
27:48 customized shortcuts now you might have
27:50 been wondering earlier how was I
27:53 possibly opening up resize aligned so
27:56 fast well I have a custom shortcut for
27:58 resize a line so you can set shortcuts
28:00 you can change the default ones to
28:02 whatever you want so that you can go
28:04 ahead and use stuff in studio way faster
28:06 so let's go ahead and click customize
28:09 shortcuts and we can go ahead and find
28:12 resize align for example people and we
28:14 can go ahead and click on the shortcut
28:16 Box by double clicking it then we can
28:18 click r or whatever you want I use R for
28:20 mine and you'll go ahead and have a
28:22 shortcut for resize a line or whatever
28:24 you're setting a shortcut for so it's
28:25 really useful and I really recommend
28:28 doing this but be careful when you're
28:30 doing this don't accidentally reset
28:32 something like really useful you're
28:34 going to mess some stuff up so I'm going
28:35 to hit OK
28:38 and then another thing is beta features
28:40 so beta features allows you to see some
28:42 of the new features in studio that
28:44 they're adding and it allows you to get
28:48 these new things in studio early so one
28:49 thing I want you to make sure you have
28:53 enabled is material generator now
28:55 material generator is a new thing made
28:57 by Roblox which lets you make AI
29:00 materials really like they're really
29:02 awesome so let's click make sure that's
29:04 checked off and we'll go ahead and hit
29:07 save now in the Home tab you should see
29:08 it here I'm not seeing it for some
29:09 reason so I'm going to go ahead and
29:12 reopen my place alright now
29:16 see it right here material generator and
29:17 you might have to reopen Roblox Studio
29:20 like I did to see it because it's a new
29:22 feature but with this you can go ahead
29:24 and generate materials for your game so
29:26 rather than using the default ones like
29:30 oh leafy grass mud all this stuff now
29:32 instead of having to import your own or
29:34 make some you can just have ai make it
29:37 so go ahead and set this back to smooth
29:39 plastic and now if we go ahead to the
29:41 material generator we can go ahead and
29:44 type in let's say what is it called
29:46 exciting yeah it's called siding there
29:48 we go then you can go ahead and hit
29:50 enter or click generate and boom it's
29:52 going to spit out some textures for us
29:53 and these will be instantly able to be
29:55 applied so wow actually these are really
29:58 good so let's go ahead and try this one here
29:59 here
30:01 and you can go ahead and scale it down
30:03 change the studs per tile you can make
30:06 it organic to make it kind of randomized
30:09 looks pretty cool I'm gonna go ahead and
30:10 see some other one
30:12 this one I like this one it looks more
30:15 cartoony but it always does have the PBR
30:17 you can always take that off though hard
30:19 choices huh I think I'm gonna choose
30:22 this one I think this one's the best so
30:23 and we'll go ahead and choose the base
30:26 material I'm gonna make that wood planks
30:28 and I'm going to click save and apply
30:30 variant you can change the subs per tile
30:32 to change the size and now we can go
30:35 ahead and select all our parts
30:37 and close this out
30:39 and we can go ahead and go into we can
30:41 hold shift to select those by the way we
30:43 can go into material variant and change
30:46 that to red house siding material and
30:48 there we go so you might see we're gonna
30:49 have some Z fighting so things aren't
30:51 going to line up fully but that's an
30:53 easy fix as we mentioned earlier
30:55 although tedious it's pretty easy we can
30:58 move these scale them to change how that
31:01 looks you might need to do this you know
31:04 pretty easy stuff I'm going to use
31:06 resize line now that we have a key bind
31:09 we can click R and go ahead and do that
31:11 go ahead and scale that
31:13 good enough for now now I'm gonna make a
31:16 roof material just for fun Roofing
31:20 horizontal black let's see what it spits
31:22 out for us I kind of like that but I'm
31:25 gonna ask for a more cartoony one so
31:28 let's see what it does interesting huh
31:32 interesting wow okay ah okay so I'm
31:34 gonna use this one and let's try organic
31:37 all right cool okay now there is another
31:40 plug-in by the same person who made this
31:41 it's called material flip and this will
31:43 allow us to flip the materials you can
31:45 get this in toolbox by searching it up
31:48 and there we go so now it is the right
31:50 way and I think I'm gonna extend the
31:52 roof out one pretty nice with those
31:54 materials so those are a lifesaver
31:56 especially for new Builders really
31:58 really insane so you're gonna be able to
31:59 make some really unique stuff with that
32:02 but if you right click this and you
32:04 click insert object there are a ton of
32:06 different objects you can mess with and
32:10 I recommend trying out textures
32:12 which allow you to make a tiling image
32:15 of your own and decals which allow you
32:16 to add an image so we can go ahead and
32:19 insert a texture in here and do whatever
32:21 we want with that but for now you've
32:23 mastered most the basics of building in
32:25 Roblox studio and you're ready to take
32:28 your skills to the next level so now
32:31 let's look at some more advanced
32:35 building techniques so first up grouping
32:38 and ungrouping so we've looked at unions
32:40 and unions to let us combine Parts but
32:42 this is a lot different this just lets
32:45 you make different groups so if we go
32:47 ahead and click up here and drag and box
32:50 select our house and hit Ctrl G we can
32:53 make a group now this is one combined
32:54 group you'll see it's a model in
32:56 workspace we can right click this and
32:58 rename it of course and name it house
33:01 one and by the way when you're naming I
33:03 recommend not doing any spaces so it's
33:06 easier for when a scripter goes ahead
33:08 and works with it now we can go ahead
33:10 and drag this around as one thing thing
33:13 and this might happen that happens with
33:16 models but that is fine if we go ahead and
33:17 and
33:19 click this and change the primary part
33:22 to Something in here it'll fix that
33:25 issue for us so yeah grouping is pretty
33:27 awesome we can also group as a folder a
33:30 folder does not let you do this but it's
33:32 much better for organization purposes
33:35 so you can right click and click group
33:37 as a folder or you click Ctrl alt G to
33:38 go ahead and make it a folder next up
33:42 the terrain editor the terrain editor is
33:44 a very useful tool and it allows you to
33:47 make some very awesome things in studio
33:50 if we go to view we can go ahead and
33:52 find the terrain editor and it should be
33:55 up in here somewhere yeah right here so
33:57 this is the terrain editor you can just
33:59 click that so you see it on your screen
34:01 and we can go ahead and click the edit
34:03 button to go ahead and see our main
34:07 terrain tools so terrain now we can go
34:09 ahead and add terrain right we can add
34:12 it adding terrain's all right but it's
34:14 not the greatest tool aside from when
34:15 you're just getting started my favorite
34:18 way to get the Baseline layer of terrain
34:20 is to go ahead and get a plug-in called
34:22 part 2 terrain and what this does is it
34:25 goes ahead and lets us make any part
34:27 into terrain so I'm going to go ahead
34:29 and choose grass and click on the base
34:31 plate now again you can find this plugin
34:34 by going to toolbox and going to plugins
34:38 and searching for part two Terrain
34:40 go ahead and get that plug-in now you
34:41 might notice that this goes ahead and
34:43 makes everything a little bit sunken in
34:45 that's fine we can just drag it and do
34:47 that or you can go ahead and move your
34:49 base plate down before you change it
34:52 into terrain but yeah now the tools so
34:55 we did we did look at app now add as I
34:57 said I don't really like the add tool I
34:58 believe the grow tools better in most
35:01 cases but you can go ahead and change
35:03 the different properties of this like
35:05 the size the pivot position lets us
35:08 change like where it goes based on your
35:11 mouse cursor the plane lock and you can
35:13 change the material of course and you
35:16 can go ahead and change what material
35:18 each one of these is with material
35:20 servers so you can see in material
35:21 service we can go ahead and choose one
35:23 of our material variants that we already
35:26 made for cracked lava so we can scroll
35:29 down to crack lava and okay wait wait we
35:31 need we need a material variant for
35:33 collect cracked lava so you let's let's
35:34 make a replacement one so I'm going to
35:36 add a part and we can go ahead and go to
35:38 the material generator and let's make
35:40 make something new to replace cracked
35:42 lava because there's not many times when
35:45 you need cracked lava so let's see what
35:47 do we make let's add a nice Rocky
35:49 texture and we'll see what this makes oh
35:52 that's actually pretty fire all right I
35:54 like that kind of it's a little bit
35:55 weird though let's just run with this
35:57 one and let's go ahead and let the base
36:00 material be cracked lava make the
36:02 pattern to organic oh yeah that's better
36:06 save and apply that and boom now we have
36:08 that material variant in here which you
36:10 can go ahead and go back to material
36:12 servers change cracklava's default
36:16 variant to big rock material and we got
36:18 ourselves that now it's red how do we
36:19 fix that well
36:22 you can go to terrain go to material
36:26 colors and change that back to Gray and
36:28 there we go so
36:30 we're good now now let's go back to the
36:33 tools I went on tangent there but we're
36:36 gonna go ahead and subtract this so we
36:38 can choose the subtract tool size that
36:39 up and we can go ahead and start
36:41 subtracting some of our terrain I'll
36:43 just you know make sure we have plane
36:46 lock on and just delete that so next up
36:48 grow tools so you'll see we have this
36:51 messy look here actually we're gonna fix
36:54 it so I'm gonna change the base size to
36:57 bigger and we're just going to scale all
36:59 this terrain up we're gonna make some hills
37:00 hills
37:03 heels are nice make some nice area in
37:04 here now let's make some really big
37:06 hills and on the sides of these big
37:08 Hills is where we're going to use our
37:09 material that we made because on the
37:11 sides of Hills we start getting this
37:13 brown material and it doesn't look that
37:18 good in my opinion so we can fix that
37:20 now I'm going to go ahead and paint so
37:22 the paint tool is very useful you can
37:23 click the paint tool
37:26 size that down then we'll go ahead and
37:29 grab the cracked lava and ooh yeah I'm
37:31 liking that a lot
37:33 although I want this texture to be
37:35 bigger so I'm going to turn off by the
37:36 way I'm going to turn off plane lock
37:38 because paint tool is horrible with
37:40 playing plane look but I'm going to go
37:43 back to our material service I'm going
37:45 to click on our big rock material and
37:47 I'm going to change the studs per tile
37:49 to be a lot bigger and try out regular
37:52 is regular look better I'm not really
37:54 sure oh we can't type in a number for this
37:55 this
37:58 100 that looks weird this is an
38:00 interesting texture to work with but I
38:02 think we're just gonna run with it we
38:04 can paint some more on here I'm going to
38:08 change it to mud on here paint some mud
38:11 you know mix it up mix it up choose some
38:14 leafy grass now leafy grass solves this
38:16 issue see this it's all poking through a
38:18 little easy fix for leafy grass size
38:21 That Base size up and it'll help fix
38:23 that and then we can add like some pavement
38:24 pavement
38:27 or something pretty cool stuff this is
38:30 all great but what about scripting I
38:32 know that a lot of you guys might want
38:34 to be able to script on Roblox and maybe
38:36 you don't even want to be a builder well
38:37 it's good that you went ahead and
38:39 learned this so congratulate yourself
38:40 for that you did a great job today
38:43 learning this if you followed along I do
38:46 have a special thing for you this is
38:49 called the scripting Secrets course and
38:51 it's a full course for scripting and it
38:53 includes everything that every other
38:55 course does not include there's no
38:57 better place to learn scripting on the
38:59 entire internet it has everything from
39:01 the basics of Lua down to the advanced
39:04 game mechanics and also exactly how to
39:06 make your game of success I've worked
39:07 with the Roblox coach to bring you this
39:09 new course I'm going to link that below
39:12 for you but you can go ahead and click
39:15 the video on screen to watch the
39:16 beginner guide Roblox scripting it's
39:18 going to get you started very good great
39:19 place to start but I do recommend
39:21 clicking the link in the description for
39:23 the scripting Secrets course for the
39:24 best possible place to learn thank you
39:26 you for watching see you at the
39:28 scripting guide and make sure to
39:30 subscribe and have notifications on so
