0:02 all right so the JBL wave series is back
0:03 with the bank this is the new beam 2 and
0:05 this is the new buds 2 and this is a
0:07 spoiler alert mind you but the wave
0:10 Series has leveled up in terms of sound
0:11 quality and you guys know how much I
0:13 care about the sound no really it is
0:15 actually truly audio file grade now
0:18 that's not it the wave series now gets
0:20 support for ANC which means that the
0:22 wave the tune the live and the Tour
0:25 series four series that J actually makes
0:27 all of them have ANC now anyway we're
0:28 going to be talking about the two new
0:30 products in this video so so of course
0:32 stay tuned till the end if you're here
0:33 for the first time I'm Asad you're
0:35 watching track and Tech English your
0:39 destination for detailed incisive Gadget
0:41 reviews now the thing with the Butts 2
0:43 and the beam 2 is the fact that JBL
0:44 actually provides you with the choice of
0:46 your fit so you've got two different
0:47 designs right I mean if you want the
0:49 butd style then you pick the Butts 2 and
0:51 if you want the stick style then you
0:52 pick the beam to cases available in
0:54 different colors I really like this blue
0:56 one it's got a matte finish as well and
0:57 it flips open like this easily with one
0:59 finger I like this there's also a small
1:01 indicator light at the front which gives
1:03 you a connection status or a charging
1:04 indicator light sort of thing which is
1:06 nice plus you've got a typ-c port at the
1:09 bottom the buds on the other hand has a
1:11 very unique topless design where you
1:14 don't have the lid actually so obviously
1:16 it's going to attract a lot of dust
1:16 which is something that you have to keep
1:18 in mind but the one question that I had
1:20 in my mind was are the magnets strong
1:22 enough to be able to withstand the
1:25 Mumbai local let's do that live Yan test
1:32 okay this is a
1:35 lot oh wow these are extremely strong
1:38 magnets good job JBL now the one problem
1:40 with JBL wave beam initially was at the
1:42 end points the magnetic end points uh
1:44 they would have some connection issues
1:46 primarily because you know after
1:47 exercise it would get wet and it
1:50 wouldn't be able to connect easily but
1:52 with this one they've actually taken
1:54 that feedback and improved it so now
1:56 these end points are stainless steel and
1:59 they're wider which is very nice so J
2:01 cliar seems that there won't be any
2:03 connectivity issues or basically that
2:05 you know it won't lose out on charge if
2:06 you put it in the case so that's
2:08 something that J did mention and the
2:09 good thing is we didn't notice any
2:11 anomaly in our testing either now both
2:13 these buds also have support for ip54
2:15 rating which is nice and you also get
2:17 ipx2 creating on the case now all of
2:18 this looks very similar to last year and
2:20 it's a slight bit of refinement but the
2:22 one thing we noticed is that the shape
2:24 of the housings themselves have changed
2:27 and this means that the fit is better
2:29 especially for the buds now this is
2:29 something that I must mention
2:31 specifically because uh you know
2:32 somebody in our office actually
2:34 purchased the original JBL wave Buds and
2:35 they found them to be slightly
2:37 uncomfortable but with the wave buds 2
2:39 it's actually much more comfortable now
2:41 in fact both the Butts 2 and the beam 2
2:43 are great for long lising sessions which
2:46 is again a good progress now before
2:47 talking about the connectivity and the
2:49 features let me talk about you guys
2:51 staying connected with track and te
2:53 English yeah go ahead hit that subscribe
2:55 button if you haven't already we'd love
2:56 your support now with the buds 2 and the
2:58 beam 2 you actually get support for
2:59 Bluetooth 5.3 now which is definitely
3:01 been upgraded but when you're connecting
3:03 these butts for the very first time you
3:05 get support for both Google's fast pair
3:07 and Microsoft Swift pair which means
3:08 that if you are connecting these butts
3:09 to an Android device they will
3:11 automatically pair up not a problem at
3:13 all in fact Bluetooth pairing happens
3:14 very easily and I didn't face any
3:15 connectivity issues while I was testing
3:17 the products which is nice but one thing
3:18 I must definitely mention is that there
3:21 is no dedicated Bluetooth pairing button
3:23 and the Bluetooth pairing command is by
3:25 hitting the you know gesture control on
3:28 the buds once and then holding it for 5
3:29 seconds which I felt was a little
3:31 counter intuitive but yeah I think that
3:32 a Bluetooth pairing button is required
3:34 now one of the most important upgrades
3:35 is of course the fact that you get
3:37 support for active noise cancellation
3:38 now when the active noise cancellation
3:40 when I tested it out it works fairly
3:42 well it does a decent job of you know
3:44 reducing constant hums like the woring
3:47 of a fan or even the AC the one thing I
3:48 like about the NC performance is that it
3:50 doesn't actually create a vacuum in your
3:51 head which is a problem that we noticed
3:53 with many headphones and earphones so
3:54 yeah that's not a problem here of course
3:55 you also do get support for ambient
3:57 aware and talk through modes now ambient
3:59 aware is jbl's very own version of what
4:01 it calls the transparency mode and it
4:03 works fairly well and talk through is
4:05 one where you know it reduces the volume
4:06 of the music so that you can have a
4:08 conversation very easily and it works
4:10 fairly well it doesn't create any sort
4:11 of robotic noise which is what I was
4:13 worried about which is a good thing now
4:14 all of the features in these truly
4:15 wireless buds can actually be accessed
4:17 from the JBL app so you can switch on
4:19 smart audio and video settings you can
4:21 adjust the gesture controls and play
4:23 around with the equalizer there's also
4:24 multipoint connectivity and it works
4:26 exceptionally well now these are of
4:27 course your basic settings but there are
4:30 a few extra specific to JBL products
4:31 that I kind of like for example you can
4:33 adjust the Left Right Channel balance so
4:35 if you are sensitive to hearing on the
4:37 left ear or the right ear you can change
4:39 that you can also add a maximum volume
4:41 limiter and adjust the voice a levels
4:43 and by the way the JBL app also comes
4:45 with options for find my buds power
4:47 saving options plus a few relaxing
4:49 sounds as well now the relaxing sounds
4:51 is a new feature which has been added to
4:53 the wave series and with that basically
4:54 what you get at you know like the lame
4:56 suggests relaxing sounds now the smart
4:58 audio and video settings are very
5:00 important in jbl's context first let me
5:01 tell you why the Smart Video is
5:02 important now when you switch on Smart
5:04 Video it reduces the latency which means
5:05 that if you're watching Youtube content
5:07 or Netflix content then you definitely
5:09 need to switch it on because it not just
5:10 helps with video but also when you're
5:12 gaming this is one of the concerns that
5:13 I had with previous JBL Buds where the
5:15 latency performance was not that great
5:16 but with this one they've actually
5:18 improved it now when you look at gesture
5:19 controls they're actually very
5:21 interestingly done because what you get
5:23 are four specific options you get
5:24 Ambient sound control volume control
5:26 playback control or you can just set it
5:27 to none so basically what you can do is
5:29 you can set any one of these bunch of
5:31 controls for example you can have volume
5:33 control on the right earbud and Playback
5:35 control on the left earbud but then what
5:36 it means is that you will have to
5:37 sacrifice of the Ambient sound control
5:39 so you won't be able to do that with
5:40 gestures so basically in the setting
5:42 that I had kept I couldn't control the
5:43 Ambient sound controls which is a bit
5:45 limiting but considering that I get
5:47 volume control I'm okay with it because
5:49 many buds in this price range don't give
5:50 you volume control on the butts and the
5:51 gestures actually work really well on
5:53 both the butts so when you touch it to
5:55 when the control actually gets
5:56 implemented is the latency is actually
5:58 pretty decent but I'm slightly
5:59 disappointed with the fact that you
6:01 still do not get any inear detection so
6:02 it doesn't play post music when you take
6:04 the buds out of the year and then put it
6:05 back again yes this is something that I
6:07 really like all right it's time to talk
6:09 about the sound and both these buds
6:11 actually come with 8 mm drivers inside
6:13 each housing and they have support for
6:15 the SBC and as CeX they don't have any
6:17 support for highrisk CeX like ldac or
6:18 lhdc but in this price range you cannot
6:20 expect for more now to talk about the
6:21 sound signature I'm going to be talking
6:23 in context with the beam to the default
6:25 sound signature is a U-shaped one so
6:27 what you get is heighten base and
6:29 heighten treble it's a very Massy sound
6:31 some we are very well aware of but
6:32 here's the thing remember how I said
6:34 smart audio is also very important so I
6:36 switched on smart audio and I switched
6:40 the EQ to Studio setting and the sound
6:43 came alive and it changed completely the
6:44 entire sound signature then turned into
6:47 a kind of balanced sound with a little
6:48 bit of heft in the bass because bass
6:51 obviously is very important for JBL but
6:53 it was actually something that I
6:55 appreciate it now when I Chang these two
6:57 settings what I noticed is that the base
6:59 had very little DK the attack was much
7:01 faster now of course the volume was less
7:03 but the attack was faster and that's a
7:05 trade-off that I prefer especially in a
7:06 song like Rumble by Skrillex where you
7:09 want the base attack to be very very
7:11 tight the beam 2 doesn't disappoint the
7:13 mids are also particularly weighty and
7:15 impressive because in a song like
7:16 Stairway to Heaven by Leed Zeppelin When
7:19 the drums kicking you want to hear
7:21 correct tonality of the drum beats and
7:23 you know what again the bam2 did a
7:25 fairly decent job for its price now with
7:26 the treble I noticed that it has a fair
7:28 bit of extension and you can hear the
7:29 Shimmer and the sparkle but the problem
7:31 is that it sounds a little thin I would
7:32 have liked a little bit more weight in
7:34 the treble section as well there are a
7:36 few more things I liked about the sound
7:37 the sound staging and the Imaging in
7:39 particular especially for this price
7:40 range you can actually hear every single
7:42 instrument in the mix which is something
7:44 that I was again taken back by when you
7:46 listen to St to heaven the initial
7:48 portion where you want the initial
7:49 guitar card progression to sit on the
7:51 left the melron to sit on the right and
7:54 the vocals on the front again the beam 2
7:56 impressed me and for this price range
7:57 what I specifically liked about the beam
8:00 2 more so than the buds 2 itself is the
8:01 detailed retrieval I could listen to
8:03 nuances in the sound which I wouldn't
8:05 otherwise be able to listen to in you
8:07 know some other truly Val earbuds that
8:08 I've tested in this price class this is
8:10 clearly JBL leveling up in terms of
8:11 sound quality and you know I must say
8:13 this something I didn't measure
8:14 officially something I really want to
8:16 fix in the future is the fact that we
8:18 want to draw our own frequency graphs
8:20 but for now I feel I genuinely feel that
8:22 the sound signature with the studio EQ
8:25 on and smart audio on I feel like the
8:27 processing or the sound signature itself
8:30 is very close to a harm and T get very
8:31 close to it I'm not so sure about it but
8:32 I think it's very close to it now
8:34 battery life on both these BS have been
8:35 improved so you get 10 hours of music
8:38 playback with 30 hours in the case
8:39 themselves which is kind of nice but
8:41 this is withc off and when you switch
8:44 onc you get about 8 hours withc on and
8:46 you get 24 hours of battery backup from
8:47 the case so you can charge it Thrice now
8:49 when we tested it out we got about 7
8:51 hours withc on which is not too bad not
8:53 too far off from what JBL claims as for
8:54 charging you get a type-c cable inside
8:57 the box and if you charge these buds for
8:59 10 minutes then you get 4 hours of
9:01 playback from it which is nice by the
9:03 way you've got four beam forming mics on
9:05 the beam 2 and the buds 2 now
9:07 considering the beam 2 actually has a
9:09 stick style design it does better with
9:11 mic quality why did you take a listen to
9:12 it and let me know which one you guys
9:14 actually prefer in the comment section
9:18 hey hi Nishant what's up hey what's
9:20 up what's
9:24 up hey what's up so if you look at it
9:26 holistically JBL has made 360°
9:29 Improvement to the products the battery
9:30 is improved the mics are better the fit
9:33 is better you also do getc now and most
9:35 importantly the sound quality has
9:37 leveled up and I wouldn't have any
9:39 hesitation in saying this that the beam
9:42 2 especially would be you know among my
9:43 top three best sounding truly wiress
9:45 earbuds in its price class right now fun
9:48 engaging and yet filled with Clarity and
9:50 trust me this is something that I never
9:52 expected I would say but yeah it's what
9:54 it is and you know what the best part is
9:56 the price so the beam 2 is retailing for
10:00 4,000 R and the buds 2 is at 3,000 500
10:01 so yeah you can't go wrong with these
10:02 honestly all right that's it from me for
10:04 this one I hope you like this video if
10:05 you did don't forget to give it a thumbs
10:07 up and subscribe I'll see you guys in
10:08 the next one until then keep checking
10:11 and stay safe [Music]
