0:39 intake you were concerned about some
0:41 presentations that you had to give at
0:44 school yes you want to talk about that
0:49 today yeah so in school
0:53 um I am in school for teaching mhm and
0:55 we have to give presentations a lot as
0:59 you can imagine um on different things
1:03 and and so it's something that's
1:08 recurring and what happened was um I
1:11 gave a really bad one one time um I a
1:13 bad presentation yeah I wasn't feeling
1:17 very well and I gave I think I was just
1:19 really tired from studying all night and
1:22 I gave a really bad presentation and
1:24 then like now ever since like when I've
1:26 tried to give subsequent
1:30 presentations I am just so nervous
1:33 and I'm up there like sweating and like
1:35 starting to forget what I'm going to
1:39 say and I'm just like a fear of of
1:42 getting up there and having to get a
1:43 presentation cuz I feel like I'm going
1:45 to bomb
1:49 it all right so was there um a time
1:52 before like recently when you had to
1:55 give presentations yeah I mean like
1:57 before earlier in my like I'm towards
1:59 the end of my degree so you know
2:04 throughout my uh program I have I have
2:06 yeah and how did you do with those
2:08 pretty well I mean I'm I consider myself
2:11 a pretty good student so normally I do
2:12 pretty well it seemed to you know come
2:14 out of
2:17 nowhere so this presentation that you
2:19 gave with the uh where you received a
2:23 Poe score maybe just an isolated
2:25 incident yeah like I was saying I wasn't
2:28 I wasn't feeling very well I don't think
2:30 and um
2:32 it really hasn't
2:35 happened but that experience has still led
2:36 led
2:39 to a lot of
2:42 anxiety with subsequent presentations oh
2:44 yeah like I'm worried about my grades
2:46 suffering as a
2:50 result and um you know how well I'm
2:54 going to do all right so would it be
2:57 okay if we kind of Step through the
2:58 whole process of you giving a
3:01 presentation sure sure right
3:05 um is and before I start with that is
3:09 this something that leads to anxiety
3:11 like right now or other times or really
3:12 just in that moment when you're
3:17 presenting mostly uh it's most intense
3:19 in that moment and like maybe like
3:21 leading up to it like in preparation
3:24 that I know that this is going to happen
3:25 like I always know when I'm going to
3:28 present like it'll be like she'll the
3:30 teacher will say oh well you know or
3:31 this Thursday someone else is next
3:34 Thursday so the closer it gets to that
3:39 event um the more anxious I am like in
3:41 anticipation okay so you start feeling
3:44 anxiety uh a few days before
3:47 presentation or yeah I would say a few
3:50 days mostly right when does it start to
3:53 get really distressing for you um like
3:56 two days before one day before then I'm
3:58 like oh my gosh like am I ready like
4:00 what if I mess up you know what if I get
4:03 a big grade all these like what ifs okay
4:05 so would you be okay if we step into
4:09 this process and kind of break down the
4:12 steps of the presentation yeah all right
4:14 so let's say that
4:17 um uh you're taking uh what's one of the
4:20 classes you're taking now um Early
4:23 Childhood Early Childhood so let's say
4:24 you have a
4:28 presentation in that in that class A few
4:30 days from now
4:33 right just a just a normal presentation
4:39 yeah all right so let's now move to two
4:41 days out okay where you would start to
4:44 feel a little anxiety about it yeah
4:46 what's going through your
4:50 mind at that two-day out Point um I
4:54 would say like am I prepared enough like
4:59 did I do enough um you know to study or
5:00 to write down
5:03 did I do enough all right so your
5:06 thought is did I do enough preparation
5:10 did I which leads to maybe I didn't is
5:12 what I'm really thinking like I'm not
5:15 prepared enough as I should be okay I'm
5:19 not prepared I'm not prepared enough yes
5:21 all right so that's that's the thought you're
5:22 you're
5:25 having about 48 hours before the yeah
5:28 presentation I'm not prepared enough
5:30 yeah and
5:33 kind of thinking about that thought and
5:35 what happens afterward do you have a
5:38 reaction like any type of
5:40 emotional affective go affective
5:43 reaction to that so at that point I'm
5:47 usually like more like anxious maybe
5:52 like irritable a little bit um
5:55 mostly and that goes substantially
5:59 unchanged that feeling for how long um
6:02 like the day before it like kind of gets
6:05 more intense when I'm like nitpicking
6:07 like well I forgot this or I didn't
6:10 forget this and you know remembering
6:12 what happened last time when I didn't do
6:15 so well and worrying about my grade like
6:17 more thoughts pop in my head of things
6:23 that I forgot or what if sort of things
6:25 all right so the same type of thought
6:29 just more intense more intense mhm right
6:30 and the
