0:05 I want to bring to you the best sample
0:08 chopping plugin to ever exist. [music]
0:10 All right, I can say this confidently
0:12 because I made it myself 100% from
0:15 scratch and it was definitely crafted
0:18 with care. So, just give me a little bit
0:19 of time and I think you're going to love it.
0:21 it.
0:24 All right, guys. This plugin is called FlipCraft
0:25 FlipCraft
0:28 and it's packed with a ton of features.
0:30 I'm talking about state-of-the-art stem
0:32 separation, state-of-the-art real-time
0:35 pitch shifting and time stretching.
0:36 You're not going to find higher quality
0:39 stem separation in a plugin outside of Flipcraft.
0:40 Flipcraft.
0:42 If I were to list out all the details,
0:44 all the features, and really go into
0:46 them, this would be like a movie. So,
0:48 what I'm going to do is have a bunch of
0:51 other videos in this playlist for each
0:54 of the features, but this video will
0:57 just be a highle overview. All right.
0:58 All right. So, the first thing we're
1:00 going to want to do is load a sample.
1:02 So, there's two ways to do that. You can
1:04 hit this vinyl record up here and load
1:08 it this way, or you can just drag and drop.
1:10 drop.
1:11 All right. So, now with the sample
1:13 loaded, we can listen to it by pressing
1:23 If I right click the play button, we can
1:25 play it backward. So, I'm going to right
1:37 All right. And we can also audition
1:39 anywhere along this waveform by right clicking.
1:49 We can zoom in by scrolling.
2:01 All right. So now we want to chop the
2:04 sample up. So I'm going to zoom in and
2:06 find the part where I want to start chopping.
2:17 All right. So, now that my Q marker is
2:18 lined up with that point, I'm just going
2:22 to hit this chop button, right? And just
2:50 >> And then I'll hit that chop button
2:53 again. And let's listen to what we have.
2:56 Let me move this mic over a little bit. All right.
3:06 All right. So, you can't really go
3:09 wrong. It's kind of like cheating. I
3:12 want to actually take the vocals out and
3:21 I want to I want to pitch it up a little
3:42 >> [music]
3:44 >> Yeah, I'm just hitting random keys, but
3:48 this can get addictive. Like, highly
3:51 addictive. All right, so
3:53 now we got 32 chops in here that we
3:56 place manually. But there's an even
3:58 lazier way to chop. All right, we'll put
4:00 the chop button back on and then just
4:03 hit this little die right here and it'll
4:07 just chop it up for us randomly, but but
4:10 not that random, right? So, all these
4:15 chops, they're aligned to a beat grid.
4:17 So, our chops are placed on these
4:18 intervals so they just kind of
4:20 automatically sound good wherever they
4:34 All right, I'm going to take this off.
4:36 And then we have yet another way to chop
4:39 where we can use this start and this
4:43 step parameter. Right, so
4:46 basically start is what beat do you want
4:48 to start chopping at? Right, so we'll
4:50 just start at the first beat, which is
4:54 beat zero. And then step is what how
4:56 many beats u make up the interval
4:59 between each successive chop. So I'll
5:02 put it up to one step. So we're chopping
5:05 on each beat. If we want to do every
5:06 other beat, we'll put the step up to
5:08 two. All right. And then if we want to
5:12 just shift all of these chops over,
5:14 we'll just move the start around. All right.
5:16 right.
5:20 And if you have a really long song
5:21 and you want to go faster, you could
5:24 just hold control.
5:27 All right. Or maybe command on on Mac.
5:30 And yeah,
5:32 those are three ways to chop. And then a
5:36 fourth way is you can just manually
5:40 move your your slices around, right?
5:41 You don't need to be in chop mode for
5:43 that. You just need to hit the pad that
5:45 you want to move the slice around for.
5:47 So let's say I want to move slice A1.
5:50 I'll hit pad A1.
5:52 All right. And then I'll move this around.
5:54 around.
5:56 Now you can actually separate these
6:00 slices so that they become region slices
6:02 instead of point slices.
6:04 So just drag this left and now they're separated.
6:06 separated.
6:07 Or you could drag the bottom handle
6:11 right and playback will be within that
6:18 All right. Let's zoom in here.
6:19 We can reverse playback and play from
6:27 Right.
6:29 So that's kind of the basics of
6:31 chopping. And then we do have this
6:33 shortcut here. Wherever you see this Q
6:36 marker, if you click it, then it will
6:38 summon the currently selected slice to
6:42 that position. Like that. All right,
6:43 let's talk about this control panel in
6:46 the middle here. It's divided into three
6:48 sections. The top has the deck
6:50 parameters, so they control the overall
6:52 sound. The bottom has the pad
6:55 parameters, so they control the selected
6:58 pad. And the selected pad is shown in
7:00 this middle section here. And we can see
7:03 that that's A1 currently.
7:07 All right. So, um, let's see what that
8:58 >> is my skin. [music]
9:16 >> I'm a record [music] scratch.
10:19 >> Yeah, I just tried to showcase a bunch
10:21 of what you could do without talking.
10:23 You'll see sometimes I hit this little
10:24 button here. That's the panic button
10:27 that just stops all the sound.
10:30 So, when you're chopping this waveform
10:33 view can get kind of messy. So you can
10:35 use this focus button to just focus on
10:38 the selected slice.
10:41 If you hit split, it'll split the track
10:44 into the stereo channels. So you can see
10:46 the left on the top and the right on the bottom.
10:48 bottom.
10:52 If you enable tracking, then let's say I
10:55 want to trigger pad A1, but I'm all the
11:04 tracking brings that slice into view
11:10 All right, so we'll turn that off. We
11:14 saw beats already. Um,
11:17 snap basically allows you to snap to
11:19 those beats. So, let's say I want to
11:22 move A12 around, but I want to move it
11:26 around on beat. I would enable snap and
11:29 when I move it, it's going to snap
11:31 to the next beat.
11:33 And we can see those with this beats button.
11:39 And it also affects our rightclick
11:41 audition. So when I right click on the
11:43 waveform, it's going to snap to that
11:46 beat. So if I click like in between
11:50 these two, but more closer to this one,
11:52 right, it gets that one. And if I'm
11:55 closer this side,
12:00 it goes there. So that's snap. Poly is
12:02 just polifany. Uh we briefly saw that.
12:15 All right. Up to 32 simultaneous voices.
12:18 That goes handinhand with the cut group.
12:20 So, if I assign
12:24 pad A1 to cut group one, well, it's
12:26 going to cut itself out now because it's
12:32 So, even though we're in poly, it's as
12:34 if we were in mono, but just for that
12:44 And each pad can be assigned a cut
12:47 group, right? We have from one all the
12:51 way up to 32. Or you could have none.
12:53 And if two pads are in the same cut
12:55 group, that means they'll cut each other
12:57 out. So they will never play simultaneously.
13:00 simultaneously.
13:03 Then we have the output bus, and that
13:05 allows you to basically put an a
13:08 different effect on each pad by routing
13:12 it out to a different bus in your doll.
13:14 I'll do a separate video on that because
13:17 it's different in each doll.
13:20 And then we saw the pad color down here,
13:23 right? It affects the pad, the slice,
13:25 and also the arc around the pad parameters.
13:32 All right.
13:34 Next, we'll talk about these logos up
13:36 here. They do the same thing. If you hit
13:39 the Flipcraft logo or the Mikey Audio
13:42 logo, they will both toggle the settings panel.
13:43 panel.
13:46 All right, I'll do a video where I go
13:49 into each one of these settings. Um, but
13:51 for now, just know that you can change
13:53 the theme of FlipCraft in the settings panel.
14:04 All right.
14:07 And you can save that right here. Uh
14:09 we'll talk about more in in the video
14:15 And we can also
14:19 resize this as much as we want
14:23 to make it bigger or smaller.
14:24 And there's a shortcut. By
14:26 right-clicking either one of these logos
14:29 or the resizer, we can get it back to
14:31 the default size.
14:36 If we hover over the track name, we can
14:39 see some information about it. So, we
14:41 have the duration here, 2 minutes and 44
14:44 seconds. We got the sample rate. We got
14:46 the number of channels. This is stereo,
14:48 so there's two channels. And we have a
14:51 tempo estimation. All right. So, this is
14:56 saying 78.8. So, you know, you know, 99%
14:58 of the times that that really means it's
15:01 just 79 BPM cuz you have to remember
15:04 this is an estimation. All right.
15:07 All right. So, we also have this dual
15:09 button. [clears throat] And when we hit
15:12 that, we enter dual mode. And that's
15:15 almost like opening a brand new instance
15:18 of the plugin.
15:20 You can go back or you can stay in dual
15:22 mode. And now you'll notice these
15:26 buttons A and B, right? A for deck A and
15:29 B for deck B. What this means is we
15:31 basically have like kind of a DJ setup
15:35 where we can load one sample on the left
15:38 deck and one sample on the right and mix
15:42 and match those chops. All right, guys.
15:44 That's about as much content as I want
15:47 to fit in this video. You can go to the
15:49 website mikey.audio audio and download
15:53 the free trial of FlipCraft right now.
15:55 And if you're watching this video right
15:58 now, I want to ask one favor. Please
16:01 share this video either on social media
16:05 or in a forum or just tell a friend. You
16:07 know, this is what I like to do. And I
16:10 have some more ideas that can only be
16:11 made possible if you guys just help me
16:13 out and share the video. And I
16:17 appreciate that. All right. And um in
16:19 the next videos I'm going to show some
16:25 more of what FlipCraft can do, including
16:28 uh hopefully you can see this
16:30 um hardware control.
16:33 See, I can pan and zoom.
16:36 I don't know if I'm in frame. And I can
16:38 move the slices around, you know. So,
16:41 we'll talk about all that and more in
16:43 the up upcoming videos. [snorts]
